Well, this song he has written to her the love of his life.

Well, technically he is a popular boy in the school while she is just a normal girl in the school. He got changed when he met her. As you know when we fall in love we change ourselves not for them but for ourselves, this is how powerful love is. But you know sometimes love is not always happiness.
Like in movies we see they both fall in love and stay together till they die.
But in the real world sometimes it doesn't. 
Sometimes love remains one-sided 
In his story, if you see if he wasn't coward. He might have had her for himself and eventually, they both will be in love with each other
