Sulley x Reader (From Enemies to Lovers)
(As requested.)
(Y/N) Your Name. (L/N) Last Name.
It all starts off with you in the year 2005. You're an eleven year old monster girl, living in Monstropolis with your family in a three story townhouse. Your room being all the way upstairs. Your dad is Daryl and your mom is Linda. Your brother Marcus is seventeen years old and your little sister Judy is seven years old.
Marcus is one of those emo teens who listens to emo music. He's usually seen wearing band shirts like My Chemical Romance or Smile Empty Soul or shirts with a skull on it. His hair is black and usually covers one eye with the haircut he has.
Judy is in gymnastics. She goes to an all monster girls gymnastics place there in Monstropolis. It's for monster girls three to ten years old and she's seven, so she's still young enough to stay.
Your life is fairly decent. Good parents, your older brother despite going through that phase, actually being extremely protective of you and Judy. You have a couple of good friends from Monstropolis Junior High.
But there is one problem. A boy in your grade by the name James P. Sullivan. He's so arrogant and thinks he stands above everyone else because his dad Bill Sullivan is the most famous scarer Monstropolis has to offer and he rubs it in, sometimes. You couldn't stand the boy. You could tolerate his also self centered friends compared to him and he knew this. He just laughs about it.
You're on your way to school right now. You're walking with your friend and her younger sister to school. Your friend is Jill Mae who's your age. And her little sister is Celia who's seven, so she's Judy's age.
(Celia Mae is twenty-four in the movie and Mike and Sulley are twenty-eight. So that means Celia would be seven at this point.)
Jill's complexion is more pink-ish compared to her little sister who has more lavender skin. Both have the same purple snake like hair though. Like Gorgon. And both have one eye. The only other difference is, Jill wears glasses. Or her one eye... glass. You've got Judy with you, too. Marcus drove to the high school with his friends.
As you all walk you say, "School's alright. But not looking forward to facing James." Jill says, "Hey. Don't feel bad. I can't stand him, either. He acts like the greatest damn thing in the world when he isn't. Just because his dad's a famous scarer and rich." Celia says, "He seems nice." You say, "Yeah. Because you and Judy are the only ones he's slightly nice to. He gives me crap all the time. Gets kind of old."
You hear a honking of a car and you say, "Crap." You see a familiar blue furred boy and a high schooler friend of his driving. The blue furred boy is none other than James Sullivan. The boy you couldn't stand. He's in the passenger's seat up front. The top from the car is down.
He stands up and he says, "Oh look! The dorky girls are walking to school, man! Check it out!" He and his friend laugh. You sigh and you say, "What do you want, James?" He says, "Where's your ride, huh? Oh wait, you don't have one! You guys are lame and poor compared to me. My dad is Bill freaking Sullivan!"
The older kid who's name is Ricky Rochester says, "Ha ha! Yeah!" James looks at Celia and Judy and says, "Not talking to you two! Just your sisters!" He sits down and says, "Floor it, man!" Ricky grins and steps on the gas. James says, "Woo!" As they take off. You say, "Show off."
Judy says, "Why is he so mean to you all the time? You didn't do anything to HIM." You say, "He's like that with a lot of the 'uncool' kids, Judy. I'm one of them and so is Jill." Celia says, "You guys are cool to me." You say, "Well thanks, Celia." Jill says, "I'm sure Sullivan himself is really insecure. At least that one shy kid in our grade nobody talks to much is nice."
You say, "You mean Randy?" She says, "Yeah. Randy Boggs. The purple reptile boy who wears those glasses. Disappears when startled. I mean I feel bad for the guy. He has trouble fitting in. If not, more than we do." You say, "At least he's a great guy and not some sinister monster man who's evil to the core. (Prediction anyone?) Then again, even James isn't that bad. Just a narcissistic idiot."
You make it on school property. You take Judy and Celia to the elementary and they walk in. You and Jill walk towards the junior high and you head for the door. You see James and his friends knocking some books out of a kid's arms. It's Randy Boggs they did that to.
They laugh and Randy says, "Awe. What did you guys do that for?" James says, "Because you're a major dork. Why else, Boggs?" One of his friends says, "Even dorkier than (Y/N) (L/N)." James says, "Ha ha. Yeah. She may be geeky, but at least she's a girl." He and his friends laugh and they head inside.
You and Jill run over and Jill picks his books up saying, "I saw that. Are you okay?" She hands Randy his books and he takes them. He says, "Yeah. I'll be fine. Thanks. I deal with Sullivan and his friends all the time." You say, "Hey. We do too. Don't feel left out." He says, "Oh, I do all the time. My struggle with making friends and all."
Jill says, "Randy. Why don't you just hang with US? We may not be boys, but you're no different from me and (Y/N)." Randy smiles and says, "Really? You want me to hang out with you? Hey, that's great. And I don't mind having girls for friends."
You say, "Yeah. None of us can stand James. I can tell one of these days you may even hate him, Randy." He says, "I just can't HATE anyone. That's such a strong word." Jill says, "Hey. Don't worry about him, okay Randy? Let's go in." You all head inside.
(Time skip.)
Later on after school, you're walking back home. You've got Judy with you. Jill and Celia are with you, too. Randy's mom picked him up. You sigh and you say, "Well, aside from torment from James Sullivan, at least we got Randy to be our friend."
Jill smiles and says, "Yeah." You look at her and you say, "Hey, Jill." She says, "Yeah (Y/N)?" You say, "Are you beginning to like Randy?" She says, "What do you mean? Of course I do. He's nice." You say, "You know what I mean."
Celia and Judy catch on and they smirk. They say, "Oooh." Celia says, "Jill has a boyfriend." She and Judy giggle. Jill says, "Shush, Celia. He's not my boyfriend." (Chowder: I'm not your boyfriend!) You stifle a laugh and Jill says, "Hey, come on. Not you too." You say, "S-sorry."
You see your brother's car come by and he stops. You see him rolling his window down and looking out saying, "Hey, (Y/N). You guys need a ride back home? You don't have to do all of that walking and stuff." You say, "You know what, Marcus? Yeah. That would be great." He says, "Get in."
You say, "Shotgun." Jill says, "You're his sister. Go ahead." You get in the front seat. Jill, Judy and Celia get in the back. You all shut your doors. Marcus has the song The Middle by Jimmy Eat World playing on his radio. Well, it's a CD since he has a bunch of them. Mainly rock, punk or emo bands. He starts the car and drives off.
As Marcus drives down the road, the song changes to Cute Without the E by Taking Back Sunday playing. He burns CDs all the time. Burn meaning copy, so he has random rock songs on the CD. He says, "Did that James Sullivan kid give you guys any shit today?" You say, "Kind of. He's worse to Randy Boggs, though."
He says, "Aw, man. Poor Randy. I feel for the dude. I've dealt with shit at school with a bunch of jocks. You know how long I've been called emo freak? A while. Some of them just don't know good taste is all. Their girlfriends are stuck up and heartless, too. Hearts darker than my soul. They never fall for the emo guy. Don't let James get to you, (Y/N). He's just all insecure and stuff. Trying to impress his famous scarer dad. Living up to his expectations. I know... I'm in the same grade as his friend Ricky. Asshole."
You say, "Some monsters just don't like getting along with you, do they?" Jill says, "Besides, isn't emo normal for a monster?" Marcus says, "Huh... You make a point, (Y/N)'s friend. Anything considered scary to some humans is normal to us. Emo and goth are a couple of them. I mean, I hear they have the same things we do. They're just... humans. And toxic if you touch them."
Celia says, "Are humans really dangerous to touch?" Marcus says, "Yeah. From what I've heard, they are. But don't worry. They can't get through our world unless you're working at the company, Monsters Inc. They have these doors you go through and they're supposed to scare humans. Ever wonder where our energy for this city comes from? Human screams."
You say, "I heard that's how it's done. I hear a lot of students at our school are wanting to go to Monster University to be scare majors. Randy dreams of being that. He told us." Marcus says, "We've got those up in the high school too. I don't see the point in it, myself. Sometimes I scare even monsters in general. I'm owning a CD store one day. Posters, CDs, DVDs. All of that."
Marcus drops Celia and Jill off at their house and you say your goodbyes. Marcus drives both you and Judy home and he parks outside. You all get out of the car and you head inside the house. You say, "At least James didn't seem too mean today. He's been worse."
Marcus says, "Hey. Don't worry about him right now. Besides, unlike him... our dad loves YOU no matter what." You say, "Really?" You look at Marcus. He says, "Yeah. Go to the rich neighborhood to the Sullivan's mansion later and see for yourself. His old man's not as great of a guy as everyone sees him." You say, "I need to check this out." Judy says, "I'll be up in my room stretching." You say, "Alright. Go ahead." Judy heads upstairs.
You say, "I'm gonna eat something for now." Marcus says, "Right on. You do that." You hear this, "There you guys are." You see your mom and dad walking out of the living room and in the hallway.
You say, "Hi, mom. Hi, dad." Marcus says, "Judy's upstairs if you ask." Your mom says, "That's good. I'm making supper really soon. We'll call you three down when it's ready." You say, "Okay." Your dad says, "How was school by the way?"
You say, "It was alright." Marcus says, "Yeah. Same here." Your dad says, "That's good." You and Marcus head upstairs. He goes in his room. You walk up another flight of stairs to your room since it's on the third floor.
(Time skip.)
Later after supper, you're going down the road. Marcus is driving you to James' neighborhood, which is in the wealthier part of Monstropolis. Marcus has got Letters to You by Finch playing. One of your favorite songs now since you practically listen to the same stuff he does.
You make it to the rich neighborhood and Marcus makes it to the Sullivan mansion. He says, "Alright. Sneak over there and see for yourself. It'll be proof of why that James kid is the way he is." You say, "Okay." He says, "I've got your back, little sis." You say, "Thanks."
You get out of Marcus' car and you sneak towards the Sullivan mansion. Luckily, nobody spots you. You hide behind the bushes and you peek up into a window. You look in and you see James Sullivan. You also see his father Bill Sullivan.
You can hear their conversation and Bill says, "Jimmy. Have you studied scaring today? Tell me you have." James says, "Dad. I'm your son. I don't need to study." Bill points at him and he says, "Don't smart mouth me, kid. I expect you to take after me." You say, "What's going on?"
You watch and you hear James' dad saying this, "I swear if you fail as a scarer one day, I'll disown you. You won't be my son, Jimmy. You'll be disowned and kicked out of this mansion for good. I will NOT tolerate a lame monster for a son." James looks sad and you see this for yourself. He says, "Yes, dad."
Bill says, "And get that sad look off your face! Monsters and sadness do not mix, Jimmy!" He walks off, pushing passed James. You back away and you say, "Oh my god. No wonder James is so mean. His dad's worse to HIM. That changes everything."
You walk off. Again, nobody sees you. You get back to Marcus' car and you get in. You shut the door. Marcus notices the look on your face and he says, "Told you. In that 'humble' mansion, James' dad shows his true colors. He's not as great as everyone sees him. Not if he treats his own kid like shit."
You say, "I still can't let James find out that I now know why he's so mean all the time. That changes everything. No kid should have to go through with that. Facing an abusive parent." Marcus says, "Yeah. He's bullying others, so he doesn't feel like the only one getting pushed around. Let's get back home before it gets dark." He starts the car and you both take off.
(To be continued...)
