Mugly is the first boss that appears in the game, Donkey Kong Country Returns. He lives in the Jungle world, and consumed bananas (which may have contributed to his yellowish coloring), but his past is fairly unknown; however, there were statues of him in the Jungle area, the origins of which are unknown as well, but show his presence was long recognized. A Tiki Tak Tribe member hypnotized Mugly, forcing him to do battle with Donkey Kong.

Classification: Large quadrupedal reptilian

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman physical characteristics, large size (Type 0), bodily weaponry (Teeth, horns, retractable spikes on his back), body control (The spines on his back can retract and extend at will. Also his color changes from yellow, to orange, to red, depending on his mood/after being hit three times per state), rage power (His attacks get faster when in his orange state, and even faster when he is in his red state), vibration manipulation (Can generate shockwaves by belly flopping from a great height and distance)

Attack Potency: Island level (Fought with and could harm Donkey Kong)

Speed: Massively FTL+(Capable of keeping up with Donkey Kong)

Lifting Strength: Class P (Should be comparable to Donkey Kong, and could launch him by spitting him out of his mouth)

Striking Strength: Island level

Durability: Island level (Can withstand several blows from Donkey Kong)

Stamina: Superhuman (Can fight for prolonged periods of time)

Range: Standard Melee Range, farther with shockwaves

Standard Equipment: None

Intelligence: Unknown (Is hypnotized for much of the time he is seen. Can be distracted by peanuts fired by Diddy Kong's Peanut Pop Gun, stopping to eat them)

Weakness: Is generally friendly and really only showed aggression when hypnotized. He is vulnerable to attacks on his back when his back spikes are retracted. Occasionally will charge into walls, causing him to go dizzy for a short time.
