After the defeat of his pawn King Ghidorah 3, Ebirah was the next monster in Dr. Mad Oniyama's lineup to be pitted against Godzilla. This time, Oniyama decided to work on modifying Ebirah, grafting giant insect wings to the lobster due to his belief that insects and crustaceans are physically similar. The flying Ebirah first appeared in a South Pacific Beach resort, where it used its new wings to great effect, flying around and stabbing at Godzilla. Ebirah was, however, impaled on a palm tree and had its new wings torn off by the King of the Monsters. It was then frozen and destroyed.
