The MUTO are prehistoric parasite kaiju that existed during the Permian era alongside Godzilla's species. Two individuals are known to have survived the Permian Extinction event and lay dormant until 1999, when one was discovered in the Philippines during a mining operation in which two eggs, one of which had already hatched. The newly hatched male burrowed its way to Janjira, Japan. After entering the Janjira nuclear power plant, it caused the plant to collapse on itself, killing Sandra Brody and several other workers. There it entered a chrysalis and laid dormant for another 15 years. The Male MUTO later emerged from its chrysalis. It killed several members of Monarch before flying off over the Pacific Ocean. Eventually arrived in Hawaii, where it dragged a Russian nuclear submarine ashore to feed on its torpedoes. After being confronted by US fighter jets, the male released an EMP, knocking the jets out of the sky. The male MUTO then terrorized Honolulu, where it was confronted by Godzilla. After a brief fight, the male flew off for San Francisco, where it later met up with the female MUTO, whom it had been calling. Together, the female and male MUTOs fought against Godzilla and appeared to have the upper hand, however upon the destruction of their nest, they were distracted long enough for Godzilla to kill the male with a single, well-timed tail swipe and later pursue the female, finishing her off with a blast of his atomic breath.

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman physical characteristics, longevity, large size (Type 1), echolocation (The MUTOs utilize echolocation to communicate, find a source of radiation and locate one another), can create EMP waves, natural weaponry (Claws and jaws), radiation manipulation (Can emit and absorb radiation), additional limbs, flight, enhanced senses, camouflage, underwater breathing (Type 2), underground mobility (Upon hatching, the male MUTO immediately burrowed into the sea as a Larva), resistance to electricity manipulation

Attack Potency: Country level+ (Managed to draw blood from Godzilla by hitting his neck, but ultimately still inferior)

Speed: At least Subsonic+ travel speed, High Hypersonic+ Attack Speed, combat speed, and reactions (Can keep up with Godzilla)

Lifting Strength: Class M (Managed to drag around the 90,000 ton Godzilla short distances)

Range: Tens of Meters due to sheer size; at least 10 miles with EMP (knocked out all power in downtown San Francisco while flying above the bay)

Intelligence: Animalistic (The MUTOs have shown to be intelligent enough to work as a team as the male MUTO was able to drag Godzilla away from the female MUTO, who then attacked him in unison. The male MUTO could be seen deliberately using his EMP attack to disable fighter jets that were attacking him)

Weakness: His neck/chest is vulnerable to damage.
