THE THIEVES WHO ARE NOT THIEVES

Todoroki's eyes widened as he took in the other's constantly angry, serious features.
"Holy shit." He almost squeaked.
It was Bakugo.
"Heard you were looking for me." he said.
Todoroki opened and closed his mouth repeatedly, no voice coming out. He had wanted to meet him again so badly, but now when it happened, he didn't know what to say.
"Well?" urged Bakugo, he looked scarier in the dim light.
"I-I'm..."
"Did you tell anyone that you came here?"
"No, I just-"
"Great, so if you die no one will know it was us."
Todoroki closed his mouth and took a step back. Was he foolish to think it would go smoothly? For some reason, in his mind, their conversation was simple, although he couldn't imagine what'll come afterward.
"Resorting to violence before asking questions again, huh?"
Bakugo didn't flinch, "it's what we do."
"I'm not here to fight."
"Then you have no reason to be here."
Todoroki figured that hitting around the bush won't help him get along with Bakugo any time soon, so decided to cut straight to the point.
"I know you are cursed too."
For this, Bakugo did react. He could see his eyes darkening as he thought, contemplating whether he should disclaim the accusations, or admit them, probably. But Todoroki knew. He knew without a doubt that he was right, and it must have shown on his face, because Bakugo quickly gave up the idea of denying it.
"Then you were stupid to come here, noble. We are not in the street anymore, I could do what I want in here."
"I said I didn't come to fight."
"And I recall saying that I don't want to see you again, but here you are."
Todoroki felt like he was talking to a wall, only a dangerous one, that wanted to smother him.
"Please just listen to me."
"I could, but you do realize I can't let you out of this building alive, now that I know you know I am cursed."
"I didn't tell anyone about you robbing my house, and I knew you were cursed since later that night. Isn't it enough for you to trust me, even just a little bit?"
"You could save my life twice and I still won't trust you the third time."
Todoroki glanced at the door behind Bakugo - wondering if he should attempt running away - hopefully he could make it out of the building before getting caught, and since Bakugo couldn't use his curse outside, safely walk away and never come back again.
He could've done it, he might've even been able to succeed. However, against his better judgment, he stayed put.
Bakugo will have to stab him with a knife to make him give up on the idea of befriending him.
Not that the angry, murderous blond was the type of person he usually wanted to get closer to. He definitely wouldn't have humiliated himself by begging for his attention under any other circumstances, but there was just no one else.
Todoroki didn't want to be there, he needed to be there. He needed to talk to him.
For years he denied himself, pretended not to be what he was. And then one night, he just happened to stumble upon the greatest discovery of his life; two people that were like him.
He saw with his own eyes that he didn't have to be alone, and now he couldn't let go of that possibility.
"Alright." he sighed.
Bakugo raised an eyebrow suspiciously.
"You don't trust me, I get it, and I can't blame you." Todoroki raised his hands, as a gesture of submission, and slowly lowered himself to his knees.
"So I won't ask for your trust, you can tie me up if you want, keep me here for as long as you wish, I don't care. I just want to talk to you."
Todoroki looked up at Bakugo, from the most disgraceful position a noble could be in, and pleaded; "Please, I just want to talk."
Bakugo was startled, but kept his expression serious. He could see Todoroki was going out of his way, yet couldn't fully understand why. He was stubborn, but when it came to stubbornness, Bakugo was a prodigy himself. And it would take a whole lot more than that to convince him.
"I have nothing to talk to you about."
"We could talk about anything, really. I'm willing to do whatever you want. Ah, we can talk about your theft business, I can help you with that. I can tell you whatever you want to know, about my neighbors, their houses, my house too. We don't need all we have anyway."
Bakugo studied him with cautious eyes. He wanted to believe he was good at reading people, but how could he think that when he couldn't even find the slightest trace of slyness in the noble in front of him? He searched for it on his face, in his eyes, in his body language, but there was no cunning in his manner.
Still, there was no way he was saying the truth.
Bakugo frowned, he didn't trust Todoroki one bit, but he was curious. I'll play along for now, he thought, to see what happens.
He straightened, clearing his throat.
"Theft business? We are not thieves."
Todoroki looked puzzled, "You are not?"
"No," said Bakugo, slightly lifting his chin. There was a dramatic pause - which Todoroki suspected was intentional - before he continued;
"We are rebels."
