Tsukiko's Birthday (part 1)

GAH! THE LAST CHAPTER WAS TOO LONG SO I DECIDED TO POST IT IN TWO PARTS! SORRY!

----------------------------------------------------

“C’mon Daicchi, you go ahead” someone whispered from outside of Tsukiko’s bedroom. Her eyes squinted as it opened slightly and raised her head at the door.

“Oi, why me?!” Aomine’s usual annoyed voice said as she sat up and leaned her head against the door, listening to her conversation. “’Cause you’re the only one who’ll she won’t kill if we barge in the middle of the morning!” another voice reasoned that sounded like Momoi’s

“Like hell she won’t! Do you remember that time when you asked me to get the Seirin team to wake up?!” Aomine shouted, reminding the times during the Training camp. He had still look Tsukiko as a rival back then and Momoi forced him to wake the Seirin team up for breakfast. He couldn’t deny her and decided to start off with Tsukiko since he thought after she woke up; he’d made her wake up her teammates. But oh was he wrong. When he tried to wake her up, by yelling at her; all she did was kick him out of his room, not recognizing who she was. She was groggy at that time and would kick anyone who tries to wake her up from her sleep.

Tsukiko gagged, remembering the memory, holding her mouth. “But that was before you guys liked each other!!!” Momoi argued, stomping her feet.

Tsukiko couldn’t hold her laugh anymore and flinched when she head Aomine agree. “Gah! FINE, FINE! But if she kicks my ass again, I’m blaming you!” Aomine hollered.

Tsukiko went back to her bed and pretended to sleep in her bed, covering herself as Aomine entered the room and knelt beside her bed. “Oi, Tsukiko” she felt him poke her, and let out a silent giggle. “Oi, birthday girl, you’re eighteen now, wake up”

‘Oh right… I’m eighteen…’ she remembered. She sweat dropped at herself for forgetting her own age.

“Oi, Tsukiko” Aomine continued poking her but she remained to pretend and chuckle. Aomine raised an eyebrow at her, knowing that she was already awake but didn’t say anything instead—“GAH DON’T TICKLE ME!” Tsukiko jumped from her bed and accidentally kicked Aomine away.

“GAH!” he screamed and flew towards the wall.

“Oi, what’s happening in there?” Aya together with Emiko and Momoi burst in the room and saw an unconscious Aomine on the floor.

“U-Um, eto…” Tsukiko stuttered, pointing at him.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” Momoi squeezed her in a hug, completely ignoring her childhood friend. “Gah! T-Thanks!” Tsukiko choked on the pink haired’s grip.

“Happy Birthday, Tsukiko-san” Emiko greeted her with a smile.

“Arigatou, Emi” Tsukiko grinned, as Momoi pulled away and looked over at Aya and Aomine. The purplenette was helping him sit up.

“Are you okay, Daicchi?” She asked as he rubbed the area where he was hit. “Do you think I’m okay?!” Aomine snapped a vein popped on his head that was hit by a pillow. “WHO THREW THAT?!

“Don’t be mean to Aya-chan, she was just worried!” Tsukiko scolded, and approached them. “Ah, Tsuneko, happy birthday!” Aya greeted Tsukiko with a warm smile.

“Thanks” Tsukiko replied and stood up, pulling Aomine with her and Aya. “C’mon! Today’s the harvest moon festival!” she cheered, fisting the air.

“As usual, you think about the festival more than your birthday” Emiko sighed at the normal routine.

“I do not” Tsukiko pouted.

“Anyway, you should get dressed” Emiko told her before leaving the room.

“Hai, hai! Tsuneko, we’ll be going out today, since it’s your birthday!” Momoi said, taking her hands.

“Eh? But didn’t we go just out yesterday? I’m tired” Tsukiko whined, slumping on the floor lazily. “Oi, get up from there” Aomine ordered her, standing up. She pouted. “Carry me”

Aomine rolled his eyes. “Lazy ass” he chuckled and carried her on his back. “What did you say?” she gave him a stern look but he shrugs it off. “Nothing, happy birthday by the way”

“Oi, answer, what did you say” Tsukiko started pinching his cheeks as he squirmed away from her, accidentally bumping on the table at the hallways. “OI STOP THAT” he demanded, feeling the pain on his thigh. “YOU MADE ME BUMP ON THE TABLE”

“That’s for calling me a lazy ass on my birthday. It’s the moon god’s punishment over you Daiki” she stretched the skin on his cheeks, as he winced in pain. It made him accidentally trip on their way to the dining room, and at the same time, Tetsuya opening the door, looking down at them.

“Tch, look what you did now”

“It’s not my fault you’re clumsy. Lazy ass” Tsukiko stuck her tongue out childishly.

“Tsukiko, Aomine-kun, please get up from the floor and have breakfast with us” Tetsuya said emotionlessly, as the two did what he said. “Oh, and Tsukiko”

“Yeah?” Tsukiko paused from walking. “Happy Birthday” he smiled. Arigatou, Tetsu” She patted his head gratefully.

They entered the dining room and joined the rest who were already eating there. Their grandma made the rest stay at their house instead at inn, so they could celebrate Tsukiko’s birthday from morning until the end of the day.

“Happy 18th birthday, Tsukikocchi!” Kise greeted her, cheerful as always. “Mmm, Oha Asa’s horscopes says, that it’ll be a great day for Virgo’s today, since it’s the last day for the Virgos” Midorima proclaimed, pushing his glasses up. “Happy birthday”

“Arigatou, Kise, Midorima”

“Happy birthday Tsuki-chin, do I get to eat moon cakes today?” As usual, Murasakibara was thinking about food.

“Yes, Murasakibara, you will. Don’t worry, oba-chan will bake us some” she replied, with a sheepish smile.

“I suppose now that you’re eighteen, you’ll act more maturely now, yes?” Akashi spoke, with his arms folded.

“Um, eto…”

“AKA!” Aya flicked Akashi’s head as she and Momoi entered the dining room. “It’s her birthday today, be nice to her for once!” she scolded with Akashi sighing.

“Fine, just because it’s your birthday that I’ll be nice to you. But that doesn’t conclude the fact that you’re--” “What he means to say is, Happy Birthday and more birthdays to come to you, Tsuneko” Aya put a rice ball in Akashi’s mouth, stopping him from talking.

“E-Eh, thanks? I guess…” Tsukiko muttered the last part, as her grandparents arrived at the room. “Oh, Tsukiko my grandchild! Happy birthday!” her grandmother approached her, and gave her a kiss on the head, making her feel like a child.

“Grandma, don’t treat me like a child” Tsukiko pouted. “But thanks anyway--” “TSUKIKO!” her grandfather hollered, raising his hand looking like he was going to chop her head and she shut her eyes, but didn’t felt the pain on her head. “Now that you’re eighteen, I suppose you can live by yourself now, and you can live by your own”

“E-EH?!”

“I’m just kidding! I wouldn’t assume you could take care of yourself you big baby!!!” his grandfather laughed hysterically popping a vein on her forehead.

“SPEAK FOR YOURSELF OLD MAN! WHAT 80-YEAR OLD MAN STILL NEEDS TO BE FED BY HIS WIFE?!” she spat back.

“WHY YOU!” he hit her head comically. “JUST BECAUSE IT’S YOUR BIRTHDAY DOESN’T MEAN I’LL TOLERATE YOUR ATTITUDE YOUNG LADY!”

“WHO TOLD YOU TO TOLERATE ME?! YOU GRUMPY TROLL!” “BOTH OF YOU SETTLE DOWN!” shouted, the old woman, fisting the table, giving them that glare. Both of them flinched and silently ate breakfast when someone spoke from Kagami’s side.

“Oji-san and Tsukiko-san always fight…” Emiko sighed, making Kagami jumped on his seat.

“S-Since when--?!” he stopped and sighed. “Never mind. I’ll never notice you before you even startle me”

Emiko flinched and jabbed him at the side. “GAH!” he winced in pain. “Shut up, senpai” she sneered.

“Oh, Tsukiko, your mother called, she couldn’t come but will contact us later at the phone to greet you” Tsukiko’s grandmother informed her.

“Oh is that so? Okay then, I’ll wait for her call” Tsukiko smiled. Aomine peeked at her. ‘She acts okay about it… I wonder what’s up.’

“Right, we’ll just go buy stuff for your birthday, and we can celebrate later this afternoon” Momoi listed, their plans.

“Eh? You’re going to leave me here in the house alone?” Tsukiko pouted.

“But, Aya-chan, I and Oba-chan are going to buy ingredients. Muk-kun, Midorin and Kagamin are going to help Oji-san at the workshop” Momoi reasoned.

“Eh? How come?”

“Eto… let’s just say, Oji-san’s getting old”

“Why can’t I come?”

“Cause it’s your birthday!”

“But…what about Kise, Akashi, and my two bluenette cousins?” Tsukiko wondered, ruffling her cousins’ hair.

“Ki-chan’s going with Aka-kun to buy souvenirs for everyone while these two…” Momoi looked at Emiko and Tetsuya.

“Oh, we’re… going to look for Takuya-san, and ask for them to join us later. With his friend too” Emiko reasoned.

“Oh, Takuya… right” Tsukiko trailed off silently with a sad smile. “Oi don’t worry, he’ll come” Aomine patted her head reassuringly. “We’ll have fun together at home alone” everyone’s mind went crazy after he said that. Inappropriate images entered their mind, making them uncomfortable and burn their cheeks. Including Tsukiko.

He noticed everyone’s stare making him twitch his eye. “Oi, what are you guys staring at me for?” he questioned raising an eyebrow.

“Uh… D-Daiki…” Tsukiko gushed, her cheeks burning, and couldn’t speak properly. “W-W-What you said didn’t come out right…” she trailed off.

“What do you mean--” Aomine stopped and realized it too. With his impure mind, he started to nosebleed, growing unconscious on the floor.

“GAH! AOMINE!” they chorused as he lay on the floor. “*sigh* don’t worry, this happens every time he hears or thinks something dirty” Momoi explained. “Tsuneko, please take care of him until he gains consciousness. He’s really helpless when he’s like this”

“Sure” Tsukiko nodded.

“Well then, we better get going” Akashi announced and they one by one left the house. Tsukiko sighed and pulled Aomine to the nearest bedroom, not bothering to carry him because of his weight. She let him lay down on the futon and waited for him to wake up, putting tissues in his nostrils. She glanced at the window, feeling that someone was watching her. But just wave it off, and focus on the tan player.

“Are you sure she won’t stay at the house that long?” Tetsuya asked his sister once again who nodded her head.

“I’m sure. She won’t be able to take the boredom and take Aomine-senpai outside and the fields. Trust me”

“I see. Then we’d be able to decorate the house, and bake her cake when she leaves” Tetsuya said. “Wait, how are we gonna know when they come back?”

Emiko flinched and rubbed her chin thinking. “What if we ask him…?”

“Why are you asking me to do this? You want me to spy on my sister while she goes on lovey dovey with her boyfriend?”

“We just need you to watch her for today, and tell us if when she’s coming back”

“Tch, what’s in for me anyway?”

“Her happiness”

“…”

“Takuya-san, we know that you just wanted her to be happy. I think now’s the chance to do that. Besides, you’re the only one who knows her favorite spots around. We really need your help”

“Tch, fine”

“Oh you’re awake. That’s good” Tsukiko smiled at the now conscious Aomine who sat up from the futon. “What happened?” he asked. “Your nosebleed after imagining inappropriate thoughts in your head” she answered him casually and frowned. “C’mon let’s go out, I’m bored”

“Told you so” Emiko whispered to her brother.

“Hey, Daiki, let’s go out. I’m bored” Tsukiko whined and pulled him with her, then went outside. As soon as they went out of the gate, Emiko and Tetsuya phoned their friends and told them that the plans started.

“Where are you taking me?” Aomine asked for the nth time, as Tsukiko pulled him to the fields. “Here, this is the flower field that my grandparents own” she said, and sat on the wooden bench beside the pathways. “I wasn’t able to show it to you since you went with me to our old dump and came across Takuya”

“Oh, speaking of which… Where are you parents? Why aren’t they here?”

“Eh, they’re actually divorce. Remember? Dad’s affair? Takuya?”

“Oh right… sorry about that”

“Anyway, Oka-san’s working abroad so she won’t be able to come, while Oto-san’s in America living his new wife. Takuya’s mom. But he never forgets to greet me and send me presents”

“Oh, so that’s why he flew to the states. That jerk”

“It’s okay, I’ve moved on. Besides, mom and dad are great friends so there’s nothing to worry about. And my grandparents, Tetsuya and Emiko are a great family, so there’s nothing I could ask for more”

Aomine smiled at her. “You’re a great person” Tsukiko blushed and smiled back. “T-Thanks, I guess you are too”

“E-Eh? Not really” Aomine denied with a sigh. “Actually I was like your brother before so I…”

“I’ve heard” Tsukiko snapped, already knowing what he meant since Aya had already mentioned it to her before. “Aya mentioned it before, so I understand”

“Really? That’s… great”

“Hai!” Tsukiko stood up and grabbed his hand. “I want to show you something!” she pulled him by a small forest just beside the flower fields and revealed a tree house. “Iku, let’s go up!” they climbed the three, with Tsukiko opening the old door upon entering it. She let him in and looked around, the dusty old tree where she used to hang-out with her brother and cousins.

“It’s a great place to look at the flower fields” Tsukiko mentioned, going out of the balcony. Aomine followed her and agreed. “You’re right”

“Eh, Murasakibaracchi, stop eating the moon cakes for Tsukikocchi!” Kise scolded Murasakibara as all of them, busily prepared for the birthday surprise for Tsukiko.

“Eh, but Kise-chin, it tastes delicious” whined the purple giant licking his fingers.

“Oba-chan! Murasakibaracchi’s eating the food!” Kise pointed at his purple head friend, like a kid.

“Atsushi-kun, you’re not supposed to eat that” Grandma said calmly to him. “Why don’t you help Tetsuya in helping find a signal to call Tsukiko’s mom, eh?”

“Okay…” Murasakibara obeyed and carried Tetsuya, putting the bluenette midget on his shoulders. “Are you getting any signal now, Kuro-chin?”

“Mmm, arigatou, Murasakibara-kun”

“Oh, I forgot something” Tsukiko remembered and went back up in the tree house, when she and Aomine just climbed down. Aomine waited for her at the ground assuming that she’d forgot one of her childhood toys again. He smiled at the thought and was surprised when someone spoke from behind.

“She must be looking for that old lantern of hers” Aomine turned around to see—“T-Takuya?” he wondered why he was here.

Takuya cocked an eyebrow. “Don’t look at me. Those two phantom siblings asked me to spy on you, while they prepare for the surprise”

“Eh, but why you?”

“Maybe I’m the only one not preparing for her party, and you’re with her” Takuya stated the obvious. “Besides, don’t you guys have a festival to attend to?”

“Don’t you have a sisterly birthday to attend to?”

“Tch, shut up”

“Seriously, Takuya, why don’t you--”

“Gah, Daiki! I can’t find it anywhere!” Tsukiko climbed back down, whining. “Find what?” he asked her, and helps her down. “The lantern we used to light during the moon festival…” she pouted. Aomine looked behind her where Takuya was. “Nice guess”

Tsukiko turned around and saw Takuya there, catching her by surprise. “T-Takuya, what are you—where’s Jeremy? Why aren’t you with him?” she asked, as Aomine held her hand.

“He’s at the inn, resting for the day”

“Well, not completely for the day since he and your brother here will attend your birthday and join us in the Festival” Aomine but in, smirking at Takuya who glared at him.

“Shut up you lia--”

“In fact, he’s about to go to your grandparent’s’ house right now, and call Jeremy to follow”

“Is that so?” Tsukiko bought it and glanced at Takuya. “You can come if you want to. I’m sure, oba-chan and oji-san’s going to welcome you warmly”

“Tch, whatever”

 …

“T-Tanukibaba, you’re going to fall!” Jeremy shouted and caught the old woman, who was pinning decorations around the house, while riding on Midorima’s back.

“Arigatou” she thanked him. “E-Eh, sure” he replied. “Hmmm, just right. Flowers attract positive energy resulting to good luck for people being surrounded by them” Midorima mentioned pushing his glasses.

“What’s that crap you’re saying?” Jeremy sweat dropped. “Don’t mind him, Jemy-chan, Midori-kun likes to point out trivia’s” Aya told him, after finishing arranging flowers in the vases.

“J-Jemy-chan?”

“Oh, it’s my new nickname for you! And for Takuya-kun’s is, Takun!” Jeremy sweat dropped after hearing her silly nicknames.

“Oh” the American’s phone rang, as he received a text message. “EH?!” he reacted after seeing the message he got from his teammate, telling that he’s with her half-sister and they’re own their way back home.

“What’s wrong, Jeremy?” Tetsuya asked.

“Takuya said that Tsukiko and Daiki are sprinting their way back here, from the FLOWER FIELDS!” Jeremy shouted.
