number 1.

PARK BOGUM.

kill them.

kill them all.

kill kill kill.

i watched in eerie calmness as the once lively person in front of me stilled, skin paling sickeningly. i can see it. i can see it all. your heartbeat coming down to a slow, sluggish rhythm, and soon halting.

i crouched down, half smiling, and removed the knife that was lodged in the gut slowly.

"game over." i whispered. "sorry."

i walked to this person's bathroom, washing the bloodied knife until it was clean like it was never used before.

i took off my gloves and lit a match, lighting the fake-leather into flames, where it completely burned into black ashes.

my own hands were disgustingly clean.

but that's how i liked it.

KIM SUHEE.

i fiddled with my own fingers, lightly tapping my index finger on the wooden table. i looked to the side—at my client, a man in his 40s, dressed in an orange jumpsuit with a name tag reading as "jang hyunyeon".

crime: suspected as a murderer of the killing of his own wife, using a hammer.

"a hammer to the head, huh..." i muttered, and then smirked at him.

"you doubt me, don't you?" he asked. "i'm the murderer." he whispered, "that's what you think."

i stared at him, and then smiled, nodding. i see it all.

"why are you doing this then? why did you become my lawyer?"

i shrugged. "because....it's fun."

the man let out a laugh. "you're an interesting person."

"you killing your wife better have a good reason." i said. "i'm a busy person."

"attorney kim. mr. hyunyeon." a voice interrupted, and i saw two detectives enter the room.

"isn't this unfair? it's two against one." i said, a half-smile making its way up my face.

"no. there is no such thing as fairness in crime, attorney kim." the detective said.

"i think there's fairness in everything." i said. "everyone pays a price eventually."

the room got awkwardly quiet, and i wondered if i had just said something weird. "should we continue then?" i asked.

"jang hyunyeon, two days ago in you're very own home, your wife was murdered by a hammer to the brain." detective #1 said.

"we gathered evidence that you had many traces left on the murder weapon."

"i wouldn't be surprised." i said. "the murder weapon is his, after all. how can you be so sure to assume that his traces were on the hammer only because he killed his wife?"

"did you not gather enough evidence that you're relying on useless ones?" i chuckled. "this is wasting my time."

the detective stopped and looked at me in the eyes. "it must be nice....to think you're so unwavering, attorney kim."

"we also found, threatening text messages in your wife's phone, from you." detective #2 said to hyunyeon. "just wait until i get home..., you're screwed, i'm want to hurt you—those were only a few you have sent."

"you're really done for." i whispered. "do you think of that phrase i just said quite literally, or do you really think i'm going to kill you tonight?" i asked.

"no, but—"

"i'm tired." i said, standing up. "let's continue this another day."

"yah, attorney kim—"

before they could say anything else, i smiled to myself, shutting the door behind me and walking away.
