5 - Ghost
Jimmy sat at the edge of the docks of the Cod Empire. His shack was behind him, the ocean ahead of him. Somewhere in that blue expanse was the Ocean Kingdom.
Ever since his cod mask - his crown - had been taken away, Jimmy had felt weaker. As if the water no longer gave him strength. It was his conductor, his gateway to accessing the magic he had as a child of the ancient sea god. Lizzie has the Ocean Orb, Jimmy had the Codfather Head. He felt human without it. Weak.
He hated feeling weak. Unfortunately, the sensation was nearly constant for him.
Jimmy realized his fists were clenched and relaxed them. He took a deep breath of the salty-swampy air that was unique to the Cod Empire.
A flicker of movement caught his eye. He glanced to his left.
There was a single sea pickle on the dock next to him, but no sign of the person who had placed it.
Maybe he hadn't noticed it when he sat down. He picked it up.
Another flicker of movement. Jimmy's mind flashed back to when Xornoth was still powerful, and immediately felt his heart rate increasing.
But it wasn't Xornoth. It was a salmon head, floating in the air like it was possessed or something.
Jimmy picked up his sword and headed toward it.
The floating salmon head jumped into the ocean and disappeared, leaving another sea pickle on the dock next to Jimmy.
Cod Boy yelled in anger, wanting to follow it before he remembered he was powerless. Weak.
The salmon head felt unnatural, strange. Like some sort of salmon ghost.
The thought of a Salmon Ghost rang a bell, but Jimmy couldn't place where he had heard it before.
Until he remembered.
Oh. Oh...
A tower , sticking out of the ocean almost to height limit. It was made of glass. Inside was an empty room. The floor was white tile.
Jimmy remembered the secret room with the salmon head and the stache of sea pickles.
Then he got angry, because somehow, it had gotten into Empires.
"GRIAN!"
It was met with a familiar cackle under the docks. "Grian isn't here," the voice said, sounding suspiciously like Grian. "I'm the Salmon Ghost. I'm here for revenge against you for murdering a bunch of salmon."
Jimmy looked under the dock. Before he could see anything, however, he felt a hand grab his shoulder and yank him into the water.
"HEY!"
"You deserve it, Tim- er, Codfather!"
"GRIAN, CUT THE ACT!"
Grian laughed again. The salmon head floated away and out of sight.
Jimmy climbed out of the water, grumbling. "He'll pay. He will pay."
As always, it was an empty threat.
