Chapter 25
"Are you sure you want to come? Maybe the opening day wouldn't be the best. I mean, I want everything to be perfect when you see it." Trent kept trying to change my mind of going to the re-opening of the blood bank, but I wasn't budging. I want to see it for myself.
This was the first time that blood bank would actually be filled with humans as doctors instead of vampires. Things would be so much safer, and it would give more people jobs. So I wanted to be one of the first people to see it in action.
"I'm going. Stop trying to change my mind." I crossed my arms over my chest in an I-dare-you-to-ask-again kind of way.
He threw his hands above his head. "You can come, I never said you couldn't."
I shook my head and followed him out the doors to a car parked outside. There were a lot of guards surrounding it waiting for us to get inside the vehicle without any harm.
One of the many reasons why Trent didn't want me to come was because of the riots that were happening beyond the castle walls. Drew, Kally's husband, told us that the security had to go up, and since he is the head of the army Trent went along with it.
I have no doubt in my mind that Jen was behind most of it; I just wish I knew what her plan was. I just wanted her to see things the way I did, but that would never happen. I already tried convincing the guy that visited me in the cell that everything was going to get better, and if he didn't believe me, Jen wouldn't.
And for all I knew she was already was trying to get rid of me.
Trent and I sat side by side in the car as we went by houses, but you couldn't tell if people were living in them, or if they were just abandoned. I tried not dwelling on it too much, so I stopped glancing out the windows all together.
We reached our destination faster than I expected. The outside of the place was painted a light blue with black letter above the white door that read "Blood Bank." To me it didn't look too inviting, but it was better than it was before. Before the renovations there was never any indication of what this place was for, people would just show up because they heard if they went they would get money, and although that was true, not everyone made it out alive.
The door of the car was opened and Trent and I walked to the door of the building.
I was hesitant to reach for the handle, but Trent didn't think for a second before he twisted it and a gust of air conditioner hit us in the face.
The inside looked nicer with small rooms all the way down hallways, and some doors were opened to see comfy chairs placed inside. People that were hired to work here were standing against a wall, bowing as Trent and I walked to the front desk.
A young woman walked up to us with her hair in a braided bun and a white polo shirt with jeans. Her name plate read "Val." She gave a small bow to Trent before saying, "It's great to see you your highness, and I overheard by some workers that the girl standing next to you--" She looked at me, then back to Trent "—wanted to see how the process works here for donating blood."
And that was the second reason he didn't want me to come, because I wanted them to take some of my blood. I wanted to show people that this place and the process were okay. I couldn't donate the blood because only the person I marked—or marked me—could drink my blood without getting sick. So Trent would get the blood bag when I was done. This made him slightly happier.
Trent looked at me with an are-you-sure-about-this look. Although he was happy about getting my blood, he wasn't happy about someone sticking a needle in my arm, I tried telling him I was fine with needles because of Greg, but that only made him hiss with anger, the only thing that convinced him to let me go, besides the blood, was that I would heal instantly.
I gave Trent a nod as the lady escorted me to a room that was out of sight from the front doors.
"Hold on, I'm coming with you." Trent tried running to me, but Val put her hands up.
"I'm sorry, your highness, but you may not come all the way inside. No vampires are allowed in here. She is an exception because she is giving blood."
His face turned angry. "I'm sorry! My ass! You better let me through or—"
I walked past the lady that was acting like a barrier between us. I wrapped my arms around Trent's neck the best I could. "I'm going to be okay, I'll be out before you know it." I reached for the mark on his wrist and brought it up to my lips, and kissed it softly.
He pulled his hand back.
I stared up at him questionably. "Did I do something wron—" His arms wrapped around my waist and pulled me close enough to crash his lips against mine. I was still until I started to get into it and kiss back, but then he pulled away...again.
He smiled. "okay you can go now."
I was in a haze all the way to the room. I sat down on the navy blue chair staring at the small sink in the corner, the closet next to it, and the posters hanging up against the white walls that read things like, "Relax, it's just blood." That made me a little queasy, but the lavender scent in the room was slightly calming.
"Someone will be with you shortly," Val said as she exited the room and closed the door behind her.
I shut my eyes for one brief second to hear slight movement behind me. I looked to see if it was the doctor, but once the person turned around I couldn't speak. This couldn't be my doctor, he wasn't human.
"Kyle?"
He pushed his way through the door. "Yep, I'm back. Are you glad to see me, because you don't look it." A smirk was placed on his lips, but it didn't look friendly in any way.
What happened to him?
"How did you get in here?" Vampires aren't aloud.
He pulled up a chair beside me. "All humans want now is money, I just had to pay the lady to let me in. Trent didn't think of that, did he?"
"He—"
"It's a rhetorical question. Anyways, I'm not here to see how you are doing, because I personally don't care. I'm here for much bigger things. Jen got contacted that you were not part of the cause anymore, and she wasn't happy, but there are other ways to get what we want besides just with you. There is always a backup plan.
"I don't understand, what is—" I got cut off again.
"You don't need to understand, you just need to listen. Didn't your mom ever tell you it's not nice to talk while someone is talking?" He knew my parents are dead. "Now, we don't need you to cooperate with the plan, but we need you to be a part of it." He looked at me like I would blurt out another question, but I bit my tongue. "I know you are thinking that you won't be a part of it." He did his creepy smirk again. "But think again, because the plan has already started."
What is he talking about, we have so many vampire guards surrounding this place, and Trent would eventually come find me and smell another vampire in here and—lavender. He couldn't smell another vampire. I got up from the chair and ran to the door; locked. It locked from the outside.
"I just had to pay the lady extra to lock the door." The door was made with ancient wood and silver. I couldn't break through. If I didn't get out Trent would become angry and barge through to find me, which would make a mess. I can't let that happen. I opened my mouth, and instantly got a rag shoved in my mouth.
In vampire speed my body was pushed back down on the chair. Kyle shook his finger like I was a child that did something wrong. "I can't let you do that, this room isn't sound proof."
He wasn't holding down my legs so I kicked them up fast enough that he flew into the far wall with a crash. I sucked in gasps of breath as I screamed, "What happened to you!"
He got off the floor faster than I thought. I didn't catch my breath fully before I was gagged again, and this time he tied it behind my head and grabbed handcuffs from one of his pant buckles to stap me to the chair, the material was the same as the door. I couldn't get up now. I used my far hearing to hear Trent starting to ask how much longer I would be, and that the process was longer than he thought. The lady he was talking with seemed to try to talk to him calmly, but his voice was getting rougher.
I needed to get out of here.
I only had little room to wiggle. My legs were being held down by his arms. "Nothing happened to me, my eyes are just more open now. You know that girl that I loved? I asked her to propose and a vampire took her away from me?" Where was this story going? "I saw her again, but she was no longer human anymore, her blue eyes turned to black, but I still love her. You know I asked her to run away with me. I asked her to leave her kidnapper, and you know what she told me?" I don't want to know. "She fell in love. She fell in love with her kidnapper. Isn't that great?" He gave a sarcastic laugh. He was starting to scare me. "We dated for five years, and yet she fell in love with a guy she knew for a day, but I will get her back. Jen will help me."
He was being used too. Jen didn't care for him, Jen only cared for herself, and she would lie through her teeth just to make the prince die. And that's exactly what she was doing. I looked at Kyle in the eyes and saw a dark gleam that wasn't there when I first met him. He was too determined; nothing was going to change his mind.
He reached into a drawer and pulled out what looked like the same liquid Greg would use on me to make me pass out. I struggled again, but there was no moving from the chair. He stabbed it right into my arms, and grabbed another one and did the same for both my legs. Everything went numb, I couldn't move anything, but I could hear and see everything. I could talk too if the rag wasn't still over my mouth.
"Now that part one is done, we are now onto part two." He gave a giddy jump as he unhooked my arms from the chair and made them fall directly at my sides. He picked me up in both arms and cradled me to his chest. "It's like déjà vu. Do you remember me carrying you out of the window? It's like that all over again, and both times you're helpless." He put a lot of emphasis on the last word.
I thought there would be no where he could take me since the doors were locked, but the door I thought was a closet was a staircase to the basement.
There was no light as we went down, but I could still see. "This was made just in case any vampire broke in and was causing damage. This is to keep people safe. Don't worry; you are safe and far away from danger now." I was far away from Trent. Kyle gave me another one of his creepy smiles as he placed me leaning up against the far wall. There was an exit door on the other side of the dull room, and he headed in that direction. After dramatically opening the door he looked back at me.
"Part two has just begun." The door slammed behind him.

Thanks so much for reading and voting! I just got back from a cruise and it was so much fun! but no wifi, so it was so weird getting messages all at once. And I think these authors notes keep getting shorter and shorter...okay, here is a fun fact about this story. I've been typing most of it with one hand. So I'm a very slow writer.
