The Storm
Rural Oklahoma
Nash Farm
Worry was high in the Nash household, as John Nash, along with his wife Sarah and daughter Harriet, lost sleep from the powerful storm that raged outside their home.
John has just returned from outside, readying the farm for the coming storm, and hastily ran to the kitchen where Sarah was gathering supplies.
John: We gotta go honey, the weather says that this is a big one, maybe an F1!
Sarah: Okay, take these and help me get Harriet.
A sudden, loud boom was heard outside.
Sarah: What was that!?
John: It didn't sound like lightning...
The winds grew more vicious, causing John and Sarah to rush up to the second floor to Harriet's room.
Sarah picked up Harriet from her bed.
Sarah: Harriet, honey! We gotta go!
Harriet: What's going on momma?
Sarah: We gotta go, honey!
John ran in the room.
John: Sweetie, let's go!
John led Sarah, who held Harriet in her arms, to the front door.
John: Listen, when we get out here, we gotta run to the storm shelter!
John opened the door, and the family rushed out into the storm.
The powerful winds bear the house as the family ran, the farmhouse already destroyed.
Harriet looked over her mother's shoulder, and saw what looked like wings in the darkness.
Harriet: Momma! What is that!?
Sarah turned around to see a large creature watch them from the clouds of the wind.
Sarah: Oh god! John!
John turned around to see the creature.
John: Get to the shelter!
The family got into the shelter, where John closed the shelter door.
John: Take Harriet to the back of the shelter!
The creature's roars could be heard from outside.
Sarah: It's at the door!
John held the shelter door closed with all his strength.
Harriet: Daddy!
John: Stay back!
The shelter door began to shake violently.
John: Leave my family be! You hear me! LEAVE MY FAMILY ALONE!!!
Suddenly, with a roar, the shelter door flew off the hinges, carrying John outside into the storm.
Sarah and Harriet screamed in terror as they watched John be lifted from the shelter.
Harriet ran to the shelter doorway.
Sarah: Harriet! No!
Harriet: Please! Give me my daddy back!
The outline of the creature appeared from the wind.
Harriet: PLEASE! GIVE ME MY DADDY BACK!!!
The creature looked down at the girl, seemingly acknowledging her pleas, and flew off into the night sky, taking the storm with it.
Harriet weeped sadly as the creature flew off, her father lost.
Sarah cane to comfort Harriet, whom was Also crying.
Sarah: It's okay sweetheart...it's okay...
They embraced in a sad, quiet moment.
