In another world
At the base of a volcano

The man and woman came up on a clearing surrounded by rocks, all overlooked by a large volcano emitting lava.

Man: You sure the monsters are gathering here? This place isn't much of a monster habitat.

Woman: The tracks all lead here, and many of the monsters we've tracked are not common in this area, so something is attracting them here.

The group came over a ridge, and saw a most peculiar sight.

Several monster, some large, some small, were gathering around a open area.

Woman: See? They are attracted to something, but what?

Man: I don't know, but don't get to close. We can't take on that many monsters.

A odd, blue lightning began to appear in the open area.

Woman: That's it, that's the disturbance.

Suddenly, the lightning grew in power, and erupted into a portal.

After investigating the portal, the monsters entered it and disappeared.

Woman: So that's it. The disturbances are portals.

Man: But to where?

Woman: Only one way to find out.

The woman slid down the ridge to the portal.

Man: Hey, wait!

The man followed close behind her.

The woman got close to the portal, and felt warm air come forth from it.

Woman: We should follow the monsters.

Man: But we don't know where that portal leads.

Woman: True, but we can't risk those monsters appearing in a village, we need to follow them and stop them.

Man: (sigh) Alright, let's go.

The pair cautiously entered the portal, and found themselves in a dense forest.

As soon as they stepped through the portal, it closed behind them.

Man: Great.

The woman stepped through some brush.

Man: Hold on!

The man followed her onto a ridge lit by a light fixture, which oversaw a distant city.

Woman: This place...is definitely different.

The man looked up above them, and saw some kind of structure.

Man: Yeah, it is.
