Monster Report #8
Wales
The following are excerpts from the journal of Dr. Henry Fleming, head doctor of St. Victoria's Asylum in Wales
Journal entry #1:
Our more excitable patients have been stirring restlessly lately, few have had a proper sleep since last week, and are hesitant to go outside during free time on account of 'something' in the woods nearby. Most likely their shared mental illnesses, nothing to worry about.
Journal entry #2:
A patient flew into a panic after going along the forest trail. He ran back to the asylum grounds, outrunning the nurse who walked with him, and began to scream incoherently. The guards took him to his room, where a doctor examined him and found that his eyes had shown signs of weariness. The doctor concluded that he had a nervous breakdown on account of lack of sleep.
Journal entry #3
The patient whom had an outburst the other day refused to leave his room, believing that 'something' is in the woods. This is more than likely his insomnia and the rumors among the other patients at work. His nurse had noted that he has taken to drawing in a notebook, and will inform me if any new information comes to light regarding his restlessness.
Journal entry #4
Patient visitation was today, and a number of relatives to the patients came by. All was well until the sister of one patient ran out of the woods that lead to our parking area in a panic, screaming incoherently and running around wildly. The guards and nurses managed to calm her, and she was driven to her home. Though I would reason that this was due to a shared mental illness along her sibling, the woman was perfectly normal on all days she came to the asylum prior. All the information the nurses could learn from her is that she saw some kind of 'owl'.
Journal entry #5
The nurse brought me a illustration made by the patient who suffered a nervous breakdown days prior, and I am shaken by it. The illustration was of a blue and gold feathered owl with piercing red eyes. This picture bothered me on account that the woman who flew into a panic yesterday described an owl after she calmed, causing me to see a connection between her outburst and the patient's. Perhaps there is something in the woods after all. I attached the picture to the back of my journal for further study.
Journal entry #6
The rumors of a creature in the woods has the staff worried, and several refuse to both arrive and leave for work. This has caused me to send a handful of guards to investigate the woods, I am currently waiting for them to return.
Journal entry #7
The guards returned in a panic, claiming that one of them flew into a panic after a bright flash erupted from deep in the woods. The guards had the affected individual restrained, and had him locked in a cell until he calmed. Besides the bright flash, none of the guards saw what caused it.
Journal entry #8
I have had enough. Whatever is in the woods has caused hysteria amongst my staff and patients, and I have decided to face it directly. I was a skilled hunter in my youth, and have my old rifle on my mantle in my office, I will use it to defeat this creature and restore peace to my facility.
Journal entry #9

Journal entry #10
This is the head nurse writing in place of Dr. Fleming. The doctor returned from the woods mumbling to himself incoherently, and managed to make his way to his office. His clothes were tattered, as if attacked by some clawed beast. The guards managed to restrain him and place him in a cell. Once he came back to his senses, he described a giant owl that emitted a bright light from it's wing feathers, and afterwards feeling disoriented. Dr. Fleming claims that he wounded the creature's wing with his rifle, and it flew away into the night sky.
The journal ends there, with the picture mentioned in the back.
