Monster Report #7
Airport, Florida
This Monster Report was inspired by the Twilight Zone segment; Nightmare At 20,000 Feet.
Three college friends; Frank, Joseph, and Vic, were waiting for their flight to take off to Puerto Rico.
The three friends had planned this vacation for months, and were finally ready to travel and have good time.
Frank was uneasy, as he suffered from an intense fear of flying, a face that wasn't helped when his seat was by the window.
Joseph, who sat next to Frank, eased his friend's mind
Joseph: Relax bro, in the next few hours we'll be kicking it with drinks, music, and babes
Frank: Thinking about all that is the only thing keeping me calm.
Vic leaned up to the two from the seat he had behind them.
Vic: Just keep your wits and try to zone out, you got your phone and earbuds, just chill with some music.
Frank: Best thing that's come out of your mouth since we left the dorm.
The three chuckled, and Frank eased into his music.
Meanwhile, the pilot and copilot were readying the plane for takeoff.
Pilot: Systems are good, fuel is full, we're ready to go.
Copilot: That's if we don't run into any 'monsters'
The two pilots chuckled.
Pilots: Really, those kids at that rave must have been on something, a giant wolf? That shoots lightning? It's ridiculous.
Copilot: Tell me about it.
The plane took off soon after, and though the turbulence startled Frank, his music helped him stay calm.
Frank eventually fell asleep with his music in his ear.
A few hours later
Frank hazily woke up, and saw that Joseph and Vic has both fallen asleep, along with a large portion of the cabin.
Frank glanced the sky from past the window cover next to him, and hesitantly opened it to see the night sky.
Frank saw the stars hidden amongst thick clouds, and was almost at ease with the beautiful sight.
Suddenly, a large, winged shadow flew quickly across the clouds, startling Frank.
Frank whispered to himself.
Frank: What was that?
While Frank looked out the window to see if he could catch the shadow again, the pilots were quietly seeing to their duties.
The copilot noticed an odd temperature drop in one of the right wings engines.
The copilot turned to the pilot.
Copilot: You seeing this?
The pilot looked at the temperature confused.
Pilot: We shouldn't be having that kind of cold in this air...must be a glitch in the temperature meter.
Copilot: Guess so.
The pilots resumed their duties as Frank continued to search for the shadow.
After a few minutes of searching out the window, Frank was unable to see the shadow again, and summed it up to his nervous imagination.
Frank sat back in his chair, resuming his music, and laid his head facing the window to try and go back to sleep.
When Frank looked back out the window, he saw a large, blue creature flying next to the plane.
Legiana
Frank jumped back frightened by what he saw, immediately waking Joseph to see it.
Frank spoke in panicked whispers.
Frank: Look! There's something flying by the plane!
Joseph looked out the window, and saw only thick clouds.
Joseph: I don't see anything...
Frank looked back out the window, but the creature was not there.
Frank: It was...some kind of...monster...
Joseph: I think you're just really nervous, we are almost to Puerto Rico, just keep it together until then.
Joseph reaches over Frank to close the window cover to help Frank relax.
Frank tried to calm himself, but could swear what he saw was real.
Frank looked at the window cover, when curiosity overtook him.
Frank nervously reached for the cover, and lifted it up...
And saw the creature, so close to the plane that it's eye met Frank's.
Frank jumped out of his seat in a panic, waking Joseph, Vic, and everyone else in the cabin.
Frank ran out into the isle and ran towards the cockpit, screaming in terror.
Frank: THERE'S SOMETHING BY THE PLANE!!! IT'S HUGE!!!
Joseph, Vic, and a stewardess went after Frank
Joseph and Vic caught and held Frank, while the stewardess tried to calm him.
Stewardess: Sir, you need to calm down.
Vic: Really bro! What happened!?
Frank: There is something outside the plane! Don't tell me you can't see it! It's huge!
Vic looked out the window, but saw only clouds.
Vic: There isn't anything there Frank, you're panicking for no reason.
Hearing the commotion, the pilot stepped out.
Pilot: What's going on here?
Stewardess: This man is freaking out, saying that there's something outside the plane.
The pilot spoke to Frank.
Pilot: Sir, besides some minor turbulence, I haven't seen anything outside the plane.
Frank: How can you miss it!?
Suddenly, a massive surge of turbulence struck the plane, causing the lights in the cabin to go out.
The cabin erupted in an uproar of panicked yells as the pilot ran back to the cockpit.
Pilot: What happened!?
Copilot: We lost engine one! It's temperature went down suddenly and it just stopped working!
The pilot looked out the cockpit window, and saw that engine one was completely frozen over.
Soon after, the plane suddenly tilted to the right, as if something had landed on the right wing.
The passengers panicked when the plane tilted, with Frank running to his seat and strapping in.
The pilot tried to even the plane, but was met with resistance.
Pilot: I can't even us out! Something is one the right wing!
Copilot: The airport is dead ahead, we gotta stay airborne until we get there!
The pilots used every ability they had to even the plane as they descended to the runway, and thankfully managed to land, albeit roughly.
Some time later.
The pilots, along with their passengers, were giving their statements to the police while the EMT's saw to the injured.
Amongst the crowd, Frank was being taken by a ambulance for a psychological evaluation.
The pilot saw Frank being taken away, and consulted a paramedic.
Pilot: You guys are taking him away?
Paramedic: Yes sir, his statement seems a bit...off.
Pilot: You don't believe that something was in the sky with us?
Paramedic: No sir, I don't.
The pilot pointed at the right wing, which had deep claw marks in it.
Pilot: Then explain that.
