5. Beacon Academy

Believer by Imagine Dragons

First things first

I'mma say all the words inside my head

I'm fired up and tired of the way that things have been, oh ooh

The way that things have been, oh ooh

Second things second

Don't you tell me what you think that I could be

I'm the one at the sail, I'm the master of my sea, oh ooh

The master of my sea, oh ooh

I was broken from a young age

Taking my sulking to the masses

Writing my poems for the few

That look at me, took to me, shook to me, feeling me

Singing from heartache from the pain

Taking my message from the veins

Speaking my lesson from the brain

Seeing the beauty through the...

Pain!

You made me a, you made me a believer,

Believer!

Pain!

You break me down, you build me up, believer,

Believer!

Pain!

Oh let the bullets fly, oh let them rain

My life, my love, my drive, it came from...

Pain!

You made me a, you made me a believer,

Believer!

The ride to Beacon is a long one. Not that the four hunters mind. Some of their hunts required months of walk to get there.

Zen stared off at the the surroundings as they were heading to Beacon. They were going to a place they were unfamiliar with and possibly never return.

The village is their home after all. When their father died of old age, Ziana stepped up to be the leader of the village. And everything went smooth. The village improved a lot, more people lived there and their defenses increased. Therefore, so did the people who wanted to enroll as hunters.

Zen is cut off from her thoughts when a hand is put on her shoulder. Turning, she saw Alexa giving her s gentle smile. She returns the smiled as they looked at on the direction they're going.

The Bullhead finally reached the academy and slowly descended until it touched the docking port along the edge of the cliff. The doors opened, allowing the seven girls and one boy step off. All of them were greeted by a group of four who have been waiting for them.

Two of them were wearing military like unforms. Tha man wore an officer's uniform with the sign of a General on it. The look on his eyes is calm and cautious.

The white haired, blue eyed woman standing standing beside also wore an officer's uniform, but had the patch of a specialist. One of her gloved hands resting on the hilt of her rapier at her side.

The third is a blonde woman wearing a white blouse and black leggings with a purple cape. A riding crop is on her hand as she adjusts the glasses on her eyes.

The last of them is one person they were familiar. Professor Ozpin.

Pearl stepped toward them while saluting. "We brought them back as you ordered Professor." He said.

"Thank you Team PTNM." Ozpin said, nodding. "You are dismissed. We will take it from here."

They nodded as they left. Leaving the four hunters to them. Ozpin walked up to Ziana. "I already believe we've met. I am Professor Ozpin. Headmaster of Beacon Academy." He held his hand out to shake.

Ziana just stares at him with narrowed eyes, so did Zen and Johnny.

Alexa, not wanting to start a fight, got between the two. "You have to forgive my BBF, sir. It's just that recent events in the past 8 has caused our ability to trust anyone in any Kingdom to an all-time low." She explained.

"Of course." Ozpin replied as he motioned towards the academy's entrance. "Please follow us. And everything will be explained."

The group took a lit that took them to the very top of the central tower, the doors opening to a very large office with a series of cogs and gears working along with ceilings and walls. Ozpin approached the desk at the far end, laying his cane on the surface before sitting in the chair behind it.

Glynda is standing on his left with the General, who's name is James Ironwood, and his specialist, Winter Schnee, stood on the other side.

"I can understand your hesitations." Ozpin said as he turns his attention to the four. "But you have to understand that in order for us to have this conversation, it needed to be behind closed door."

"I understand perfectly," Ziana said. "We just want to know why we're here."

The General is the one that spoke next. "We wanted to discuss about your experience in fighting these kinds of Monsters." James said as he pulled out the Scroll and showed them the three Monsters Team PTNM showed to them.

"You see, just two days ago, three unknown creatures has entered the Academy's ground." Ozpin started. "I send in some hunters and huntresses to deal with them, but they immediately killed. I send in some more experienced and veteran teams, only to have the same results. So, I had to contact James and his army to eliminated them. However, despite they fight they gave, the army is also killed in the processed. The creatures somewhat got bored and decided to leave. But what shocked us the most is that they couldn't be killed with Dust." He finished.

"That is why we had Team PTNM to bring you in." Ozpin said, gesturing to their weapons. "You and your people have experience in combating such beasts, who are more deadly than the Creatures of Grimm. Not to mention you weapons also contain parts of them, which I presume makes it more effective in fighting them. And with you on our side, I am certain mankind could win the battle. I am willing to do whatever it takes to convince you to join us."

The four stared at each other, not knowing what to say about. With a sigh, Ziana stared dead in the eye.

"Fine." Ziana said. "But there are catches that you will need to deal with."

"Sure thing." Ozpin agreed.

Ziana held up her index finger. "First, we will agree to join you, but no one is to come near my village, or else they will suffer the consequences." She held up her middle finger. "You will agree to contact us IF there is a Monster on your territory." She held up her ring finger. "Finally, no matter how bad the situation is, you are NOT to allow access any of our weapons."

"What?!" James shouted, walking up to Ziana. "What do you mean no?! YOu do realize that it could turn the tide against the Monsters with your weapons!"

Before Ziana could say anything, Zen backs her up. "We will put it simply: The weapons are crucial to our means of survival. Should you get them, then what's stopping others to do so? If they get their hands of our weapons, they will just kill the Monsters for sports. But for us, Monsters are also what makes all of our weapons, food and money. If they disappear, then there goes OUR way of life. We know that isn't what it used to be before, but we're still doing the best we can to adopt."

"Which brings to another subject." Glynda said. "Why are you in a hurry to get back to your village. I'm pretty sure they can handle themselves."

Alexa is the one who answered. "Because Ziana is our and the village's leader when her and Zen's father died of old age and announced Ziana to the next heir. Our people might be strong in their own rights, but they still need someone to lead them. Not to mention the fact another ambush may happen. Can we leave now?"

"Of course." OZpin nodded. "I'll have a Bullhead ready for you."

They nodded and went to the lift as it descended. The four adults were left in Ozpin's office.

"This is a lot to take in Ozpin, and I don't like the idea of wildcards running without assurance that won't turn on us. "James said, rubbing his face.

"I know it is a lot to take in at once James." Ozpin said. " But we can assure they won't after what they have been through so much their betrayal their village has experience."

"I just hope this won't bite us really hard if this backfires." James said with internal grimace.

"It won't. For now, we simply agree to their terms if we want them on our side." Glynda finished.
