Sly Pov.
"I guess this is overdue..." Jess trails off.
"Damn right it is!" Jose exclaims.
"Ok. I'm going to start by where we are. This," She gestures to the dancing people, on the ballroom floor. "is the only place I care about, and the only place I can see my friends. It's a sort of comfort place, none of these people here are physically here. Just... holograms. I-I" Her voice cracks. "I can't see them, because if I do, they'll notice I haven't changed in about five years." She points to a group of people joking around the tables. The one with a weird scarf is shouting something, and a guy with a purple necklace is teasing a man with ginger hair. "If I visit them, they'll find out my secret. They are really nosy about my business." She points to another group, a blue haired girl at the head. I feel bad for her, if I could never see the Few I'd probably be here all the time too.
"I think you're coating over the obvious, you are kind of the most powerful being alive." Castor states flatly.
"I told Katz my story, and I'm guessing he told you? It holds water, no matter who it's about. You already know what happened, so I'm telling the most immediate stuff. Besides, it's my story! I am narrator overlord, fear me!" I've never seen this side of her, it's a nice break from the serious conversation. "Now, as I was saying. The only group of friends I can still see are your parents. After what happened t-to my f-family, I learned how to consciously make people immortal, they were my first test subjects." And they didn't tell us?! I think back on it, my father never really seemed to age, but I assumed it was just a good aging system. "And Sly..."
"What?"
"You are a better tango partner than your father. He always steps on my toes!" I turn red at the compliment, but I'm more concerned about the first part.
"H-How e-exactly do you kn-know how good of a d-dancer my father i-is?" I stutter, pull it together Sly, it's not like she's the most beautiful girl you've ever seen! Actually wait, it is exactly like that. Continue panicking.
"He's like an uncle to me! I dared him to come here once, and I taught him the tango. The heroes are basically my aunts, and uncles, they had a big hand in raising me." That makes sense.
"Ok, so we're just glazing over the fact she can kill us all with her pinkie finger?" Alex asks indignantly.
"Yup, you are! But I don't have to even touch you to kill you." I shiver at the thought of fighting her again. "Now, any questions?" Everyone has a million questions, but before we can ask, she cuts us off. "None? Good." No one protests, for fear of being lighting bolted, stabbed, mauled, and/or hit with a hammer. "Well, I've got to go, I have to kill someone." What?!
"What do you mean?!" Pbat almost leaps away in terror.
"Well, Loki told you my identity. Is it not punishable by death anymore?" She asks.
"No, no it isn't! That rule was never a thing!" Kala yells.
"It wasn't? I guess I never really checked the rule board at the towers anyways. He's still going to die though." She drops the illusion, and starts to turn away. I grab her arm, not letting her leave.
"Heroes. Don't. Kill." I respond. She shrugs.
"It's a good thing I'm retired then, isn't it?" I don't let go. "Fine. I won't kill him, just hurt him really badly. Like, missing three limbs badly." She tries to remove my hand from her arm, but I won't let her off that easy.
"He's in a cell, we don't hurt prisoners."
"I'll give him a chance to run. How about, three seconds?" She starts to run her nails over my hand, effectively loosening my grip. She rips her arm free.
"Don't! He's a horrible man, but he's defenseless against you!" I shout. She pauses.
"Great, this is just great!" I'm confused.
"What's the matter?!" Kala asks.
"The 'matter', is that you just cost me my target!" She turns, and shoots an accusing look at me. "I have a version of Jarvis, and you know what he just told me?" She does?! "He told me that someone just cut the power to the cell block! Fifty bucks says it's Loki!" He's gone?!
"I-I-" I start to apologize, but she's already gone. We are left standing confused in an empty ballroom.
