Chapter 55 (Rewritten)

"So...this is the festival?" you thought to yourself as you watched people bustle around.

It's been a few days since your last outing, the reason you kept yourself hidden was in preparation for the Paradis Island attack on Marley.

The reason was the others didn't like that you were moving freely out in the open was because of Eren. He suddenly disappeared, causing everyone to go into a panic. You were told to be kept on lock-down yourself, which is why they weren't too keen when you snuck off that one time.

You wanted to find the whereabouts of your family. How was your mother doing? You're sure the news of you becoming a traitor could have reached her. Knowing her, she was probably happy she was proven right. She never wanted you to become the next holder.

But your primary concern was Emma. You needed to find a way to get in contact with her. You hoped that she was doing well, and the news wasn't causing her to go into a panic.

Though your friends have tried to calm you down, you were still determined to at least find word about your parents.

So, you've been writing personal letters to Eren, and he agreed that at his time in the rehabilitation center. He'll try to find some word about Emma and maybe get you in contact with her.

For some time, Eren has been sending you some personal letters, each of them becoming more and more embarrassing to read.

As the sun began to set, time for the attack was drawing near. You decided to head out early to make your way to the docks, Armin was set to meet up with you later in the evening. But on your way towards the docks, you decided to roam around the festival.

"Well hello there, miss. Would you like anything from here?" you glanced over to find a man holding a stand full of unfamiliar food.

My mouth watered at the food. I looked back at the man and nodded.

"Uh-huh," you agreed.

"Here you go, miss. Enjoy!" the man handed you your food and you immediately dug into it.

"Mmmm~! (⌒¬⌒*)"

"Soo good~!(≧∀≦)"

"Watch out!" You felt a fast force bump into you. The food you bought dropped to the ground.

You whipped your head around and made contact with a familiar boy. Falco Grice. Of course he'll be here.

"O-oh! Miss! I'm so sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going!" Falco apologized.

"Are you hurt!?" he asked.

"Falco, it's okay." you spoke.

"How did you know my---wait! It's you!" he pointed out.

"Nice to see you too." you mumbled.

You looked down at the ground and frowned sadly at your dropped food.

"Nooooo my fooooood (இ﹏இ'。), it was so good..."

Falco noticed and immediately felt bad.

"Oh no! I dropped your food! I didn't mean to, I swear!" he continued.

"I-I'll make it up to you-really! I-" he continued to ramble.

"Such a cute boy...he reminds me of that little boy from my years as a trainer. I wonder how he's doing now...?"

"Hey! Falco! There you are!"

You then noticed four other kids running towards him, along with another person who made your blood turn cold.

"No way...it couldn't..." You saw a familiar blonde male approaching your direction.

"Reiner..." You thought bitterly.

"Who's this?" one of the girls with light blonde.

"This is...Miss Weber (Fake last name that you lied to him about), I bumped into her and accidentally made her drop her food."

"Wow, Falco, you're such a clutz. Forgive him, ma'am, I hope he didn't cause you any more headaches." the girl with dark hair said.

"I did not!" Falco exclaimed.

"Sorry about him, I could help buy you another one," Reiner said, completely oblivious to who he was talking to.

"That's really okay--" You just realized that your situation has just got worse. You had to leave!

"No, I insist." Reiner pushed.

"I met her before actually. She was near the training grounds, and we talked for a bit!" he brought up.

"Oh no...." you grew tense, seeing the others for their reactions. Luckily, they brushed it off and continued to poke fun at Falco.

"Can she come with us!?" Falco asked.

Uh oh...

"Sure, she can. It's the least we can do since we dropped your food." Reiner replied with a smile.

You gave him a blank stare. Fine, just for a little while longer.

And with that, you were dragged by Falco around the festival. This proved hard to enjoy because Reiner was making everything tense, he even tried to strike a conversation with me.

"I never exactly seen you around here, before? Did you just come?" Reiner asked.

"Yes...not long ago..."

"Do you live with your parents or...?"

"No...I have none..."

"Oh...I'm terribly sorry. Then...you must be living with someone right?"

"Yes...my friends..."

You both remained silent before walking forward to talk to the other kids. Your personality immediately attracted them. They grew comfortable enough to tell them all of their names.

Zofia, Gabi, and Udo.

You all had a great conversation, until the topic switched to the "monster of marley."

"Reiner used to be friends with her. He even saw her when he was at Paradis Island. She sided with them. The devils." Gabi said bitterly.

Your eyes shifted.

"That must have been terrible. The betrayal, I can't even imagine." you hid your mockery while glancing at Reiner.

"Reiner still not over it. I think he got a crush on her! He might still even like her!" Zofia whispered.

He's what??

"But how can he even! She's a traitor! If I was him and saw her again, I would have--!"

"Would have what?" your tone turning slightly dark.

"I...I don't know. I think I'll be conflicted. I couldn't imagine any of my friends betraying me. What would you do, Miss Weber?" Gabi asked.

"Good question. Of course, I'll be outraged! But to bring myself to kill them, I wouldn't know what to do."

"Hmm, I couldn't even imagine having to kill my friends. But if it comes to that I'll..." Gabi didn't finish her sentence.

"I'll---I guess I'll have to kill them." her voice becoming dark.

"...oh?" You sensed hesitation in that sentence.

"Miss Weber! Here! I thought you might like these!" Falco came running up to you, food hot in his hands.

"It's a sorry gift, for dropping your food," he said with his cheeks slightly blushed. You took it from him.

"How cute~!(≧∇≦*)"

"Aw, thank you." you ruffled his hair.

"A-ah! You're welcome!" he replied embarrassed.

"Oooh~ Falco~ Got yourself a girlfriend!" Gabi teased.

"WHAT!? NO!"

You decided to hang out with them a little while longer until the evening. Where they were headed then was closer to the docks. The kids also grew attached to you, so they were willing to let you go.

"..." This is bad, you grew attached to them to.

Your body shivered in horror as an image of seeing their corpses lying in this very area. Which is going to happen sooner or later.

"When can we see you again?" Falco asked, his friends looked up at you expectantly.

"I..." the words got caught in your throat.

"Pretty soon, sooner than you realize. I'll be by the docks later this evening, if you want you can come join me."

"Eh? But we have to stay for the speech." Gabi whined.

"You could sneak away~" you suggested.

This caused the kids to gasp, until they realized you might have been joking as you started to chuckle. They laughed along with you.

But you were serious. There might be a chance to save them...what would the others think? Is that even possible?

You gave them one last look before watching them get ready, Reiner stood beside you.

"Thank you for spending time with us. Sorry, they're a bit of a handful sometimes."

"Reminds me when I was a kid." you joked.

"Have a good evening, Miss Weber."

"You too, Reiner."

Enjoy yourself while it lasts...

----

You found yourself standing near the docks. Your eyes stared out into the open ocean, watching far away boats passing by. You closed your eyes and let out a sigh.

This is really it. There's no going back now.

What was your position for this? To make sure there is less titan shifters in the area. Before entering Marley, you've trained hard with your titan. Upon remembering your past, you would often read what your titan was capable of.

You read somewhere that your titan was capable of temporarily being in water, if you trained yourself enough to hold your breath and swim well, you can be able to morph your body in a way that could help in the future.

It was mentioned that it can possibly help with our attack, leading potential shifters towards the docks where Armin can take them out. Armin seemed the most excited on seeing how the ability can work.

Guess you were making his dream come true.

It was then the clouds became dark enough as to not raise suspicion towards your transformation.

That was your signal.

You opened up your trench coat, revealing your black covered uniform and ODM gear set up. Blood dripped from your fingers as you stared down at the water below you. You took off your gear, placing them on the ground and covering it with your trench coat.

With one last look out in the sea, you raised your leg up beyond the dock. Stepping forward and dropping yourself into the water.

Lightning then struck your form, you felt yourself able to breathe as you began to swim. Making your way to Marleyan port as your eyes adjusted to the underwater view. Your jaws opened as you let out a rumbling noise from your throat. Sending a pulse from within the waters.

-----

"Falco..." Eren said.

"Yes?"

"Go fetch me, Reiner."

"Okay! Be right back!" Falco hurried out the room.

"...!" Eren jolted up a bit as he felt a rumbling sensation go through his body.

It was your pulse, going for a few seconds before completely fading away. He knew it was a signal. A signal that you were in position.

He was sure the other warriors must have felt it too.

He looked down at his hand, rubbing one of your letters he was holding in between his fingers.

"Y/N, stay safe," he thought. He didn't worry too much. You two would be reuniting soon.

"Here he is." Falco pointed to him.

"...Hey," Eren said towards Reiner.

"It's been four years...Reiner..."

"...Eren..." Reiner said in disbelief.

"Good to see...you made it back home..."
