You got up from your chair, causing it to scrap across the floor.
"Y/N?" Armin asked.
'I'm fine, just have a headache.' You signed.
"No, you don't." he replied back.
It went quiet as you stared at Armin with a surprised expression. That response came in quick, he knew exactly you were lying.
"Y/N? I can be honest with you." there was a shift in his tone.
"Huh?" Eren asked, also noticing the shift in Armin's voice.
"We've been friends long enough for me to know when you're lying. And hiding something."
Eren opened his mouth to say something, but then shut it as he realized Armin was onto something.
You looked at Armin with a bewildered look, he grew flustered once he realized he took it too far.
"Sorry, sorry. That sounded intrusive." Armin quickly apologized.
"I just wanted to say, we're here for you Y/N. No matter what. It worries me that something's bothering you. It's fine if you don't want to elaborate. But just know, we're here. I'M--here..." Armin clarified.
For a second, your facade cracked. The same expression you kept up for years faltered at that very moment.
Armin noticed, which proved his theory to be right. You were hiding something.
But you fixed yourself quickly, nodding towards Armin before taking a seat again.
"All this information is making my brain hurt. I need a nap. (_ _|||)"
You fell back into your seat, covering your face with your hands. Your friends left you alone for a bit, but that didn't calm your worries. You tuned out their conversation, trying to settle in everything.
"Dammit...everything hurts!" You thought, your head throbbing.
Then, you heard faint noises and other voices coming into the room.
"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT!?"
The back of your head abruptly banged harshly against the hard wall. You let out a hiss of pain as you cradled your hurt head.
"Gosh darn it Eren! Now my head hurts (◞‸◟)" You cursed at him as you rubbed your head.
You looked up to find Captain Levi and Hange just entered the room.
When did they get here?
"We're here to let you out. We have a meeting to attend." Captain explained.
Guess that's expected. The survivors of the expedition must be included to discuss next course of actions.
As Mikasa and Eren were let out of the cages, you remained in your seat. The guilt eating at your stomach again, avoiding eye contact with everyone.
You really didn't feel like going. Knowing that word gets out quick, you didn't want more words spreading how you "failed" to save the commander.
'Do they know?' You asked.
"Huh?"
'Is their word about me and what happened with the commander?'
Hange let out a sigh, trying to find a way to let you down easy.
"Commander Erwin's death is already known, but only a few people know the truth. Twisted words or not, what's done is done. There's bigger issues to worry about." Captain explained.
"I see it's still weighing down on you."
'It's never going to be stop.' You answered honestly.
"Y/N..." Armin spoke.
'I really don't feel good.'
"Sorry, Y/N. But you can't sit this one out."
You huffed, not liking that answer.
"Let's just get this over with. The sooner we get done with this meeting, the better."
"Besides, you'll get to see Historia again." Eren tried to lighten the mood.
You rolled your eyes slightly before standing up. You could have sworn you heard someone snicker, narrowing your eyes to find the culprit.
"Sorry, just didn't expect that to work." Eren chuckled awkwardly.
You scoffed, walking past him while flipping him off. Earning a surprised gasp from Hange, Eren, Mikasa, and Armin.
.....
The pounding feeling in your head never went away. But now was not the time, you were finally going to see Historia again.
As she approached you four, you noticed Armin, Eren, and Mikasa bowed down.
"Your grace..." they all said.
"Wait what? We're bowing now!?"
You panicked and quickly followed in their suit.
"Oh, stop it, please. You really don't need to do that."
You sighed in relief and raised your head up.
"But wow...you guys really changed huh?"
"Oh...we've been through a lot..."
Historia smiled at you gently.
"Nice to see you again, Y/N." she said.
Your gaze softened at her words.
"She didn't want to come, but she came in order to make you happy." Eren teased.
"Aw, really? Thank you." she replied.
Your head slowly turned to him in a threatening manner. Mikasa and Armin letting out a sigh.
"Is this really the time to joke now, Eren?" Armin asked.
"Y/N, please. It's not worth it." Mikasa said, knowing that look on your face met you were going to cause trouble.
You all proceeded to get settled in another room and go over plans of what to do next.
Without anyone noticing, you kicked Eren's chair on your way to sit down. You glared at him as he made eye contact with you, Eren secretly smirked. Feeling no remorse on what he did moments before.
Thanks to information found in Grisha's cellar. You all were able to learn there were places outside from the walls. Other people from the outside.
But how do get there? How to uncover more information about the world outside?
"Y/N." You heard Historia's voice call you.
"It's also been brought to my attention that a journal which belonged to you was kept in Grisha's cellar. It's written in a differently and no one can interpret it. But is it possible that you can read it?" she asked.
"Of course, she should be able to read it. You mentioned she came from the outside world like the traitors, but she means none of us harm. Certainly, she can share secrets of her own." the man beside her answered.
"Y/N? Is that true?" Historia asked.
Everyone's eyes were on you.
You sat up straight and nodded.
"Then, is there a reason why your journal was found in Grisha's basement. You're free to answer however you like and someone can translate." she then asked.
Armin translated for you when you signed.
"The journal was written by previous holders of my titan. It basically serves as evidence that the outside world is true. Grisha must have known and took my journal away without me knowing. His reason, I'm not sure. Probably for my safety."
"I see."
"On Mr. Jeager's end, that might have been a smart move." Hange added.
"Is it possible there could be crucial information related to the outside that could help us?" Historia asked.
You thought for a moment.
"I haven't fully read it yet. I'm not sure. It's possible it's just a bunch of journal entries related to my titan." Armin translated.
Historia sighed. Worth a try?
The subject later continued to the founding titan to which Grisha's goal was to strip it from the Reiss family, as they weren't worthy of it.
"I also wanted to bring something else up if you don't mind. First, I want to apologize what my father and his family has done to you in the past. You were seen as a threat, and they resorted to inhumane measures. But Y/N, you are no threat. You have proved to us for a while that you weren't. I apologize on their behalf." Historia gave you a small smile.
"You said L/N might share a connection with the Reiss family? They met prior and set on killing her because she was a threat? What could she possibly had that made her seem like such?" one person asked.
"The Founding Titan, if enabled by someone of royal blood, has the ability to manipulate paths. Which the Reiss family has been able to do in order to manipulate the people. The titan Y/N possesses has some sort of immunity to it." Hange explained.
"That makes her titan and the Founding Titan long line enemies." they added.
"Immunity?" that word was echoed, piquing the interest of others in the room.
You and Eren looked at each other. Eren staring at you like it now just hit him how a potential problem you are.
The Reiss family saw you as a threat early on just because you're immune to their manipulation, to the point of them wanting to kill you on the spot.
What else does your titan do that they all don't know about!?
You sneakily stuck your tongue out on him before turning to face forward again.
"Even with your two titans, I'm still better than you." you thought.
"It must be a reason why the people of Marley sent you out first before the others. If there was one person who has a slim chance of fighting and taking the Founder, it would be you." Hange said while looking at you.
"Then it's good that she's in our hands, rather than our enemies. But I wonder, what made you change your mind of not killing us?" someone asked.
That question made everyone's blood run cold, all eyes were on you.
"If I may interject, that's a question she doesn't feel comfortable answering."
"...Very well. I'm sure she has her own reasons."
The meeting continued, Eren having a random outburst which disrupted the meeting. Hange passed it off as a phase as to not be Eren on the spot. But they still kind of did.
You weren't a fool to know Eren was acting jumpy for a reason. He was also hiding something, but you didn't know what.
It didn't help that Eren kept looking at you from time to time. Like after learning that your titan is somewhat of a threat to him, he doesn't know how to take the news.
You were tempting on humoring him just to up his nerves but decided not to.
The meeting went on just fine and you felt yourself slowly starting to relax.
Pixis stood up from his chair, bringing up a good question.
"Won't we deceive the people again? You wish to follow King Reiss's rule, let the people of the walls remain ignorant and domesticated. If so, what are the ideals did we rise to take the crown from King Reiss?" he asked.
"Let's announce it." Historia spoke.
"After all, we're just returning the memories King Reiss has stole back to the people a century later. We all share the same fate as the people of the walls. We must unite as one and bring our entire strength together."
You and your friends looked at each other. Your eyes sparkling at Historia's words.
She was right.
The people deserve the know the truth.
