After the events that occurred, training ended earlier as expected. 

And you felt horrible. 

"It's alright, Y/n. It wasn't your fault."

"Mmm..." You groaned while putting your face in your knees. 

"By the way, are you alright? I've noticed something different. Like you seem a lot more tense." 

Petra being as observant as ever towards you. 

You avoided eye contact and furrowed your eyebrows. 

You let out a frustrated sigh. 

You don't know. You don't know why you're acting like this. Why you were suddenly having flashbacks to a past you don't even remember. 

"Maybe you're stressed about the whole thing. Being trained by the Captain is probably adding pressure to you."

Yeah...it could be that. 

"But you shouldn't be stressed, shouldn't be pressured. You're still a kid, remember? You still have years ahead of you to improve and get better. Besides, things have been peaceful for the most part. You have a lot of time to relax and reflect."

You finally looked at her and gave her a weak smile. 

Maybe she was right...

"Cadet L/n." Captain called you. 

You and Petra both looked at each other nervously before you got up and made your way over. 

"I need to speak to you privately for a moment. The rest of you, make your way to the mess hall."

"Yes sir!" Your squad mates left and soon it was just you and the Captain. 

Captain sighed and his attention turned to you. 

"You improved quite a bit for the past few days, cadet. But now I see there's something holding you back."

You looked away. 

"You're afraid."

Your eyes widened as you looked at the Captain, he was looking back at you. 

"You're afraid of becoming stronger, aren't you?"

Your heart began to thump faster as you looked down at the ground. 

The times that you've been training, you always felt some sort of fear holding you back. 

Something told you you're a lot stronger than you seem, and that strength scared you. Ever since that fight with Annie, when you blacked out. 

Even after Reiner separated you, you still wanted to keep going. Keep attacking her until she couldn't get up. 

And with Commander Shadis, you almost lost yourself. When he landed a hit, it triggered a rage inside of you. 

It wasn't until after you thought about the fight that you realized that wasn't normal. 

You looked at the Captain again before slowly nodding your head. 

Captain said nothing before he looked away. 

"Then I guess our next course of action will be learning control..." He continued. 

"I won't tell you to stop being afraid, after all, we're all afraid of something. But you can't let fear get in the way of succeeding. If you're afraid of getting stronger, afraid of going too far. Then you need to work around that fear."

"Learn to find your self-control."

Is that...an order?

You slowly nodded. 

"Good." He then proceeded to walk off. 

Guess you're dismissed. 

You made your way to the mess hall. 

..... 

"Y/n!" You heard Petra call you. 

You saw her waving for you to come over. You sighed mentally in relief and quickly made your way towards her. 

"There you are! I was so worried! How was the talk with the Captain?"

Your other squad mates turned towards you. 

You signed; 'It wasn't bad.'

Another thing you've been practicing was another gesture of communication. Since you couldn't talk and it was necessary to at least use quick communication with your mates, you've practiced speaking through hand gestures. 

Luckily for you, you already had experience with this in the past as you sometimes communicated with your friends this way. 

"Well, that's a relief." Petra sighed. 

"He didn't seem too mad when today's training ended early. He must have been worried about you." Eld said. 

'Worried?' You signed. 

"Yeah, Captain may not seem like it. But he cares about all of us in his own way. I think he was worried that he pushed you too hard." Eld explained. 

"Which is understandable, you're still a kid." Gunther added. 

"A kid that shouldn't be even training under Captain Levi in the first place!" Oluo scowled. 

"It was Commander Erwin's orders, Oluo. Captain probably didn't have a choice but he still agreed to do it. Don't mind him, Y/n. You still should be proud." Eld said. 

"Yeah, he's right." Petra smiled. 

"Well I still think--" Oluo immediately kept quiet. 

Everyone soon went quiet and looked at you kind of nervously.

You raised an eyebrow. Then you sensed a presence behind you. 

You slowly looked up to find Captain standing above behind you, you flinched a bit. 

When did he get here!?

"Problem?" he asked, staring daggers at Oluo; hoping there wasn't one. 

"No, Captain." Oluo replied. 

Oluo minded his own business and went back to eating. 

"Tch."

Captain Levi walked over to an empty seat and watching everyone conversing with each other. 

Captain again was standing up to you. Maybe Eld was right, he did care about everyone in his own way. 

But something else made you curious about the captain. He carried a similar presence, sensation that Mikasa has. 

Not to mention they both have the same stoic look and somewhat attitude.

Could they be related? What was Levi's last name? You never got it. 

'Does the captain have a last name?' You signed. 

"Huh? Oh no, we just call him Captain Levi." Petra replied. 

Your eyebrows raised. That's oddly suspicious. 

Could it be...?

Just then, the mess hall door flew open harshly. It took everyone by surprise as you all looked to see a panicked soldier, huffing and puffing. 

"TITANS HAVE INVADED THE TROST DISTRICT!"

Loud gasps and murmurs were heard throughout the hall, while you just sat there trying to process what had just been said. 

Titans...inside the district right now!?

Everyone immediately got up to prepare for action, meanwhile you were surprised everything was happening so quickly. 

But you shook your head, you can't be acting like this right now. 

"Cadet L/n!" You heard Captain call you. 

"Consider this a part of your training. I want to see how well you can handle yourself against a titan attack." He spoke. 

You nodded. 

"Yes sir!"

But you wasted no time rushing towards Captain's side as you made your way to battle. 

....

You watched on the rooftop, there indeed was titans within the district. 

You wanted to feel brave, feel determined. But you were also scared. 

The events of Wall Maria were running through you. 

"Haa..." You let out a shaky breath. 

"Afraid?" 

"..!?" Captain suddenly appeared next to you. 

You shook your head. 

'Just nervous' You signed. 

'But I can't be nervous. I know...'

Captain said nothing as he turned towards the titans. 

"Remember what I've told you." He gestured over to the titans on the far right. 

"Handle those two. I'll be watching." He zipped away. 

You nodded and zipped to action. 

You remained focused and calm, finding aim for the nape. 

You closed your eyes and swiftly made a cut, taking one of the titans down. You then acted fast to take the other one out. 

You opened your eyes. 

Holy shit!

You just killed your first two titans!

On the odm gear!

You landed on a nearby house, stumbling a bit but wasn't too hurt. 

"Good! Keep going!" You heard Captain shout. 

"On it!"

You picked up the pace and zipped to action. You quickly maneuvered your way around, striking and dodging any titans you came across. 

"Woah!"

A large titan hand appeared out of nowhere, but you were able to dodge. You grunted as you slammed yourself against the wall of a nearby building. 

"Ha...ha..." You breathed slowly as you were now face to face with a titan. 

You were feeling afraid again. 

The titan's wide smile never left your form as it drew its hand closer to you. 

"Don't be afraid...don't be afraid...don't be afraid!"

You sprang into action and dodged the incoming hand, you zipped back around and cut the titan from the nape. 

You rolled as you landed on a nearby rooftop. You let out shaky breaths as you watched the titan go up into smokes from below. 

You heard zipping from behind you. 

Captain Levi made his way towards you, looking at you and slayed titan. 

"You did well." He complimented. 

You sighed in relief. You barely made it out of that. 

"Wall Rose has been breached."

Your eyes widened. 

What...?

The wall fell again!? But how!?

"It was just informed to me by Commander Erwin."

But why was he telling you this?

'You want me to come?' You signed. 

"...you're sharp."

You knew it. 

"Let's get going."

You nodded.
