You internally groaned as you felt yourself getting lightly shaken by something.  

"Wake up. Wake up, cadet."

Your eyes fluttered open to find yourself surrounded by warmth and a blurry face above you. 

Hmm...something felt...off.

Your eyes slowly fixated and cleared up, the Captain having an annoyed expression on his face. 

"??!!!" Realization slowly hit you. 

You fell asleep! 

In front of your captain!

You quickly sprung and sat yourself up, straightening yourself as best as you could. 

Great...you just made a fool of yourself. 

But wait...if he knew you were sleeping. Why didn't he wake you up immediately?

Levi stared forward with a stoic face, as if what just happened didn't faze him at all. 

Well, you could still see the evident annoyance on his face. 

"Wipe the drool off your face."

You blushed in embarrassment as you quickly did. 

"Mm..." You made an apologetic noise. 

"We're here. Let's go."

He climbed out of the carriage, and you quickly followed after him. 

Right as you did, you were met with a large castle like building. This was the Survey Corps headquarters!?

"Hurry up!" Your Captain yelled. 

You snapped out of your daze and continued to follow him. This place was huge, how were you supposed to know where everything is!?

"No need to worry about where everything is, just stick by your squad mates and you'll figure it out on your own. My only priority for you is training, which we will begin immediately."

"Hmm." You nodded. 

You continued to follow your captain like a lost puppy until he stopped, making you stop as well. 

He stood there for a moment before grabbing your arm. Your eyes slightly widened. 

What was he...?

Without saying anything else, he dragged you along. You grew more and more nervous about meeting his squad. 

You've arrived back outside to meet 4 young adults training. Must be his squad. 

"...!" You dreaded as you realized you were practically a child compared to all of them. 

They're gonna look down on you for sure...

Captain Levi brought you closer and immediately let go of your arm once you were close enough. 

"Alright! Listen up!"

The four immediately stopped what they were doing and lined up in formation. Captain Levi walked up in front of them, and you followed his trail. 

"This is cadet Y/n L/n. I've told you beforehand she'll be arriving. I've been given the order from Commander Erwin to train her." Captain explained. 

You felt awkward under their judging gazes. 

They were all thinking the same thing, you were younger than they expected. 

"Captain, isn't she too young to graduate early?" a girl with strawberry brown hair asked. 

"Despite her age, she is much stronger than you think."

The male with a brown undercut scoffed. 

"Tsk, really? A kid like her good in combat training. She looks like a lost puppy."

"Knock it off, will you!?" the strawberry brunette nudged his side harshly. 

"What!? I'm just stating the obvious."

"That what!? Just because she looks cute she can't be strong!?"

"Cute!?" You thought. 

Crap, you really were a child compared to them. 

"What's so cute about her!?"

Ouch...

You felt yourself lower your head down in shame and embarrassment. Captain Levi noticed this. 

"Oluo that's enough." he said sharply, causing the male to tense. 

"C-captain! But I-"

The dark look Captain Levi gave him was enough to shut him up. This gave time for the girl to speak. 

"I'm very sorry for Oluo's actions. I'm sure he doesn't mean it..." she glared at the said male. 

This must be Petra...She seems nice...

"I'm Petra. That grumpy grouch over there is Oluo. The blonde one is Eld and the one beside him is Gunther."

You awkwardly waved while looking away nervously. 

"..." Silence took over and your squad mates grew awkward. 

"Hah, she's so nervous she can't even talk." Oluo mumbled, but you heard him. 

"Prick..." You thought. 

"It's okay, Y/n. You don't have to be nervous around us."

You looked over at Captain, eyebrow raised. 

Did he not tell them beforehand?

Captain's eyes narrowed, obviously annoyed. 

"Did I not let you know beforehand that she is unable to speak?"

Oh, so they just forgot??

Petra's face immediately grew flustered, obviously guilt on her face. 

"O-oh! I'm so sorry! I completely forgot!" she immediately felt bad. 

As much as you hated pity, it didn't stop you from walking up to her and gently giving her shoulder a pat, giving her a weak smile. 

Petra smiled at you gently, which made Oluo flinch in anger. 

"Hey let go of her!" Oluo tried to push your hands away, but Petra smacked them away. 

"Stop being rude to the child would you!? She's been through a lot and you're treating her like garbage!" 

The two of them began to bicker and the two other males made their way over. 

"They do this a lot. We pretty much got use to it." Gunther said. 

"You okay, Y/n?" Eld asked you. 

"Hmm." You hummed while nodding.  

"Enough! Both of you!" Levi shouted. Petra grew flustered. 

"Captain! We're sorry!" Petra and Oluo both saluted. 

"..." Levi remained silent for a moment. 

"L/n."

"Hm?" You looked at his direction. 

"We'll begin your training. But I want to see your combat skills in person for myself."

Trying to see if the words were true. You're fine with that. 

"Petra. Do you mind?"

"Of course, not at all, Captain." She got into position. 

"Let's go, Y/n!" she gave you a closed eye smile. 

You nodded and readied yourself too. 

"You got this Petra!" Oluo cheered. 

You raised your eyebrows. It is so obvious he has a crush on her. 

"Good luck, Y/n." Eld reassured. 

You weren't too worried. 

"Begin!" Captain said. 

Petra began first, of course her fighting style was different from those you faced. 

You started by dodging a bit, trying to pinpoint or memorize her style of fighting. 

She goes for upper attacks first before trying to aim for the lower parts of the body. 

Once you memorized her attack moves, it was your turn to fight back. 

You grabbed ahold of her arm that tried to punch at you, Petra's eyes widened as you pulled her forward. 

She acted quickly and tried to break away by using her other arm, but you maneuvered your body to avoid the hit. 

Then, you swept your leg from under her, causing her to lose balance and fall onto the ground. 

And with that, the fight was over. 

Your squad mates were in shock.

A young girl like you, able to bring a grown woman like Petra down!?

"No way..."

"Incredible."

"How the--!?" Oluo was more in shock. 

You looked over to the Captain, his eyes were on you. 

Was he...impressed?

"Wow, you really are strong. Good job, Y/n. You beat me!" Petra laughed at her defeat, but she was more in awe. 

Petra...

She is a genuinely nice person. 

She must be happy that another girl has joined the squad. 

"Hello Levi Sqaud, I just wanted to check in if--" You heard a familar voice call out. 

You all heard a loud gasp. You looked behind to see Hange and another male beside them. 

"Y/N!!!! YOU'RE HERE!!!" Hange came running at you and engulfed in a giant hug causing you to fall to the ground with them on top of you. 

Petra gasped. 

"Is that why they kept checking up on us?" Gunther asked. 

"Seems like it." Eld answered. 

"Hange! Why would do that!?"

"Y/n was here and nobody told me!? I was dying to meet her here!"

"And there was a reason why..." Petra muttered. 

You let out a faint whimper. 

"Hange! You're hurting her, Get off!"

"No!"

"Section Commander, please get off. You're crushing the child!"

You gripped onto Hange's sleeves trying to signal you to let go. But no avail. 

Captain had to take matters in his own hands and forcefully get Hange off of you. 

Once that was settled, Captain turned to you. 

"I saw what I needed to see. You proved me wrong; you do live up to the rumors."

Your eyes sparkled. He was impressed!!

"Later this evening, we'll discuss our next course of action." 

You nodded. 

The rest of the day went by without much more events.
