~*~ Chapter 1 - Back Home ~*~
Trigger Warnings: Sexual innuendo
My tail flicked through the air as I looked at my roommate lazily. "What are you planning Remus?"
The mischievous demon laughed wildly, his voice was so irritating. "Today is the day I am to meet my other half, Pu-"
"Don't you dare." I stopped him, knowing where he was going with his nickname.
"Of you're no fun. Besides, you won't tell me your name so I have nothing fun to call you."
"I told you to call me Anx." Honestly, I couldn't remember my name, I couldn't remember anything past three years ago when Remus found me. Even if I knew, I wouldn't want to share it with him. It felt like I was protecting an important secret.
The demon faked a yawn. "Boring! Why are you limiting my vast amount of teasing nicknames, Anx?" The way he said it made it feel dirty. That was another reason I would never tell him my name.
"Because they always border on gross and inappropriate."
"Only border? I'll have to try harder." He giggled again but it did not make me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside.
As he went to grab a stick of deodorant and I turned, not wanting to see that. "How do you know today is the day?"
I could hear the chewing and fought back the urge to gag. "I can feel it in my bones, it's like someone has hooked me up to a car battery."
He licked his lips and I shook my head. I wouldn't have stayed, but I had nowhere else to go. "You say that every halloween."
"This time is different, my nipples are all tingly."
"Didn't need to know that. I'm going to take a nap." I could not listen to this any further. The hairs on the back of my neck were already standing tall.
"Bye Puss in Emo Boots."
Growling, I headed up the stairs. Living with Remus was not enjoyable, but it meant a roof over my head. Being a monster, that was more than I could ask for. My last memories is of the painful sensation of rain on my damaged ears and Remus holding out a hand to help me under his umbrella. Even back then his smile had unnerved me, but he gave me a home. Feeling my bruised side I reminded myself, it had been a good enough home for a monster.
I stretched and felt my body ache and hurt. Remus was unpredictable, and sometimes that fact got me hurt. Last night Remus had decided to set off fireworks inside the house. I had unfortunately been in the crossfire. A nasty burn snaked its way up my side, highlighted by the dark bruise that surrounded it. It wasn't fatal but it did piss me off. Remus now had a scratch down his back from my anger, but he seemed to think it was more kinky then painful. Rolling my eyes I curled up in the sunlight, trying to enjoy it.
My peace only lasted for a few hours before I was rudely woken up to Remus straddling me. With an angry hiss, I shoved the man off me. "What the Fuck Remus?!?"
"They're here." He was trying to be creepy but it just made me roll my eyes.
"Who's here?"
"My other half and his friends. I need you to distract them." He seemed absolutely giddy. "I'm going to sneak up and take him out." A mace appeared in his hands and I just rolled my eyes.
"Tell me one good reason why I should."
"If I capture him, I'll be out of your hair." He tried to run his sticky fingers through my hair and I swatted at him.
"Whatever." I didn't care what he did with these people, but the sooner I helped the sooner I could go back to my nap. There was a pounding at the door and a voice that seemed so familiar. Where had I heard this voice before?
"Patton, are you sure this is the right house?"
Patton, that name sounded familiar. I opened up the door to see three people, but I couldn't make them out before I was tackled.
"Virgil!" Who was this man, no one knew my name! I didn't even know my name, but that... that was definitely it.
He smelt like cookies. Before I knew what I was doing I wrapped my arms around him in a hug, feeling tears trying to come up to my eyes. He immediately hugged back. No, what was I doing? He had a wand in his hand and a light grew cloak around his neck. This was a witch. "Get off me, what do you want Witch?" Remus had told me witches were dangerous. I had to push someone off of me for the second time today. I began backing up. Why did Remus want to get mixed up with witches? No, the others weren't witches. One looked exactly like Remus except that he was decked out in white and gold, with fluffy white wings that sat restfully on his back. His face was kinder, no mustache on his lips, his eyes didn't hold that weird predatory look either. He looked genuinely happy to see me and it made me blush. I couldn't trust them. I replaced my blush with a snarl.
The third man looked human. Sniffing the air my eyes widened, he was human. I could feel my heart beating quickly, the only thing worse than witches was humans. Remus hadn't told me that but I just knew. I took another step back, letting my claws come out.
"Do we have to go through this again Virgil?" The human adjusted his glasses. His eyes held something that I didn't understand. I couldn't read his emotions. Did he hate me? I was ready to run.
I didn't have time. Remus popped up, bringing the heavy mace against the Angel's head with a chuckle.
"Roman." The human was way to calm given the situation. He caught the angel, Roman, before he hit the ground.
"This was not beyond my calculations." The human held up some kind of device and pointed it at Remus and the Witch stepped in front of me. I couldn't see what was happening.
"Welp, no time to explain now kiddo." He flicked his wand and I felt myself turning into a cat. The problem was, transformations, even if they are forced, are hell when you are injured. I let out a howl of pain as my injured side began to stretch and shift. The pain was more than I had to handle in a while. Darkness filled my vision. The last thing I heard was a soft concerned, "Kiddo."
AN: Hello everyone! I like to put author's notes at the end of chapters. Normally they aren't anything important, just questions on your opinions or how my feelings about the chapter is working out. This one is just an introduction. I hope you are enjoying everything so far!
