there was an eerie silence as they walked through the forest, away from the burning village and the corrupt king and his men

"Tell me, how did you know the king?" Mephiles asked

"I grew up with him, my father way loyal to the last king, cruel and cunning, he left one day with his son, and when they returned...thats when he changed" Silver answered, he had abandoned his armour long ago

"What do you mean change? and how long were thy gone?" Shadow asked

"Maurice used to be kind...he'd try and run away from the palace when ever he had the chance, thats how i met him, my father was in charge of making sure he never left and i'm unsure about the second question...i was young at the time..." Silver sighed, soft snores filled their ears, the young fox had fallen asleep on Mephilie's shoulder

"why would he try to get away?" Shadow asked as he turned to look at the ivory hedgehog and was greeted with a sad smile

"even though he may have been the son of the last king...he was treated like the lower class...yes he was given things that no one would get, but when he was disobedient he'd receive harsh punishments..."

"no wonder he's like this then" Mephilies muttered

"no, that was never why, because he'd always greet me with a smile, even if tears fell, he cared for everyone but himself, he would had rather died than do this" Silver stated firmly

"that was when you were but children" Shadow scoffed

"i know...but he's felt wrong...as if he were someone else" Silver said as he looked away

"FIND THEM!" the king growled as he to returned to his men, alone. Blood on his clothes as he growled

"Yes Sire!" his men saluted him

"And bring them to me...Alive" He ordered

"As you wish" His general bowed as he then sat on his horse as rode off into the night, no one questioned who's blood was on the king as he stood and faced the flames before him, once alone the flames grew higher and darker

"He got away" the voice hissed

"I'm sorry, but that knight got in the way" The king said as he bowed before the being before him

"Don't disappoint me again, or i'll get another to take the form of that child and feed you to the flames of hell"

"Yes...my queen, very soon this world will be yours and you'll be free to roam out of the shadow's and into the light"

"Good"
