Sabo smirked at the sight of Bertholdt's cautious expression and the obvious way the boy looks away in terror whenever the two had met gazes.

Between the walking cadets, Sabo pressed a finger against his lip followed by a prideful smile. It was clear that Sabo knew the truth of a titan shifter(s) hiding amongst the crowd like a wolf in sheep's clothing.

His eyes narrowed over to Reiner who was confused. The blonde stared at him with a calculating expression and there Reiner had caught on, his eyes widened in realization and Sabo smiled, before looking away innocently.

'Two little traitors..' Sabo inwardly noted to himself before the important soldiers walks up the platform.

Flashback to where the battle, the war against titans had begun; Sabo charged ahead for the colossal titan before Eren could. Plunging his haki coated dragon claw, the colossal titan had let out the most ear-piercing roar of pain, in time for Eren to arrive with intent to kill the colossal titan.

Eren had found out about the colossal titan having intelligence, while Sabo had found out said colossal titan is motherfucking Bertholdt.

Luffy's ability to recognize people in an instant had rubbed off on him.

.. And Ace's obnoxious behaviour when he was ten had also rubbed off on him.

Now with Connie and some unnamed cadet regrouped with the two of them, they were told to run back to the headquarters.

How nostalgic, said headquarters whereas he and the two of the other amnesiac kids would train everyday with their guardian.

He wasn't going to let it be destroyed by titans.

He, Koby and Law will protect their district no matter what.

Mikasa and Law were assigned in the rearguard. Sabo, Koby, Eren, Armin, Thomas and their other cadet mates are up and assigned in the vanguard to take out titans coming closer to the middle, basically bolster the vanguard, they say.

An abnormal startles the group, forcing everyone to split. Sabo had maneuvered his gear, shooting his grapple hook upwards and flew up the tower where the titan had crashed onto.

He retreated his hooks and fell back down, not allowing the titan to recover and quickly sliced its nape to its death.

Unfortunately, Thomas's half had already been crushed by the titan's teeth before Sabo had killed it completely.

"T—Thomas!!" Sabo could hear Koby holler in horror, as well as the rest of the cadets watching were mortified to see one of their own had fallen so quickly.

Snapping back to reality, his eyes landed on the sight of Thomas's dead corpse, split in half as he had those terrified look in his eyes.

"FUCK!" Sabo yelled angrily. He barely noticed his squad glancing at him as he had his gear clinging to the tower, his figure dangling as he had his hands over his head as if he was relieving trauma.

Unfortunately, he failed to see the titan approaching him from a few feet away.

Koby spurred into action, he doesn't have time to relieve his as well, Sabo was on the verge of breakdown again like last time.

Sabo could hear the sound of maneuver gear being used frequently around him, as Koby, who was known as a kindhearted cadet, had mercilessly killed a titan.

Ever since their second expedition, they've been witnessing losing their fellow scouts to titans. All three of them had trauma, Koby was terrified of them, Law was solely afraid of losing his trio, and Sabo was enraged with mixed fear.

He was terrified of losing everyone again. Ever since his older brother's death, he couldn't afford to lose his youngest.

Maybe retrieving his memories was awful, if he had to see those warm laughter of 'shishishis' that he failed to protect, as he witnessed his little brother killed on the execution platform with a smile, causing the strawhat crew, the others they allied with and alongside Sabo to rebel, fight for revenge, anger, rage, horrors, turning the entire field into bloody war.

"Go ahead without us!" He could hear Koby ordering the rest of the squad with authority, and Sabo snapped out of his trance.

He could see their squad seemingly hesitant to leave, worried for Sabo, though they left eventually, and Armin had the decency to look back, to see Koby hugging Sabo in order to calm him down amidst the chaos happening around them.

Koby is so warm..

"Sabo-san.." Captain Koby had approached him in his depressed state, sitting on the barrel with the pipe beside him. The blonde doesn't even have anymore strength to back off from the marine. He could let him capture him right there and now.

He should just die if he could. Dive off into the ocean waters and drown.

He lost both his little brothers, and he has nothing else to live for anymore.

"I'm sorry." Sabo glanced up to see Koby. The pinkette was tearing up, fists were clenching and he was shaking. He knew Koby was participating in the war.

War that hasn't finished yet.

It was already seven days of fighting and killing, and yet the war hasn't finished.

All for Monkey D. Luffy, the newly crowned Pirate King. He was held to be executed six days ago, but because of the determination of most pirates, they fought for him, and declared war..

Only for said war to go downhill so miserably as they fail to protect their beloved pirate king.

Hidden deep in the alleyway from the rest of the marines, Sabo was alone. The rest of his revolutionary crew had disappeared from his side, either dead or separated from him.

He was all alone to himself to think, to grieve, to mourn, to cry, to accept.

He failed to protect them. He had failed to be there for Ace. He had fucking failed to protect his remaining family member left.

He failed as a brother.

"I'm so sorry! As a marine, I am ashamed of myself! I was terrified, I wasn't strong enough, I wasn't strong enough to capture Luffy on my own!"

"If I could've captured Luffy-kun myself, things could've changed! This wouldn't happen.. It wouldn't result to..!"

Koby confessed as he cried heartily, He was one of the marines who respected Luffy, the marine that had become a marine because of Luffy.

The marine Luffy kept telling him about during their conversation as the brothers had a reunion at Ace's grave.

The marine Sabo fell in love with and had taken his hand in marriage the day before the war.

It was like the calm before the storm kind of saying.

"He's gone.." Sabo muttered. He was stuck in his own trance as he ignored Koby's words. He failed to notice the pinkette wincing, seemingly fearful of Sabo snapping at him.

He didn't even realize he started to cry, tearing welling up and streaming down his bruised cheeks.

"And yet he's gone!" He hollered, from the corner of his eyes he could see Koby flinching as he unintentionally startled him with his scream of despair

Koby tried to approach Sabo with guilt in his expression, seemingly wanting to help calm the blonde down. Before he could come near, his vision grows blurry..

"How are you feeling?.." Koby's voice from the present had snapped him out of his thoughts. He woke up, and found himself in Koby's arms

Amidst in the middle of the battle, they were inside a tower. When did Koby drag themselves inside to take shelter from the dangers?

"Fuck.. I overreacted. I'm sorry." He finally spoke after a few minutes of silence between them. Koby pulled away and smiled kindly, flicking Sabo's forehead.

"Save your whining Sabo. Let's go fight titans eh? Eren and the others must be waiting for us."

Sabo glanced up at Koby. He smiled back, well aware he was glad to have Koby by his side. And the two of them regained themselves as they jumped from roof to roof, running around trying to find their squad.

They killed titans left and right before finally coming over to the roof where Armin had knelt down, frozen in terror. Both knew what that look meant.

Armin had lost the rest of the squad.

In time to see Connie arriving as well, shaking the blonde out of his trance. The bald-headed cadet glanced up to meet Sabo and Koby's figures arriving, blades covered in titan blood that are steaming to nothing.

They could hear the horrified screams of Armin as he relieved the memories of what happened between him and Eren.

They could hear Ymir mocking the blonde, even while Connie tried to defend him, they all knew they couldn't have the time to mourn their friends whom they lost so quickly against titans.

This world is truly cruel.

No matter which place, island or world they are in, it could never change the fact that..

.. The world is cruel to them all.

Law's pov —

Law and Mikasa worked together without needing any demands from one another.

With Law's incredible speed which he longer needed to use gas, he ran ahead, and dropped down the roofs, connecting the strings of his grapple hooks in front of the upcoming abnormal titan to make sure it trips.

Pulling back said strings as it did, he ran over to the titan's behind, stomping both feet down to stick to the ground as he shot both grapple hooks right at the titan's shoulders.

He just needed to make time for Mikasa or the rest of the elites to arrive. The citizens were watching with incredulity, and in a flash, Mikasa arrived, slicing the titan's nape, killing it instantly.

Law glanced over to the citizens, surprised that not all of them had evacuated yet. He could see the massive cart that could barely fit through the entrance of wall rose preventing the rest of the citizens from evacuating because of it.

It seems Mikasa had seen it and confronted the owner of the cart. Law walked from behind the girl, glaring evidently to those who deserved his stink-eye, using the dull edge of his blades to smack the two other males charging for Mikasa.

To say the least, Law was inwardly proud of the Ackermann for standing up for the citizens. "Onii-san, One-chan, thank you!" A little girl called out to them, with her mother behind her holding her protectively.

Both cadets sheathed their blades and saluted in front of them, making the child smile further.

The thought of the girl reminded Mikasa her family, her past, Eren..

Law..

He doesn't know what happened. He only heard the muffled hollers of Mikasa running over to his side.

"Law! Look, look at this!!"

A girl younger than Koby had called out to him with a smile.

She was wearing a doctor's coat evidently big for her. He could see his smaller hand — without tattoos? Odd.. — reaching out to ruffle the girl's brown hair.

"Lamy, dad's coat is too big for you."

He heard himself say, and witnesses the girl pouting adorably. "I've grown a lot you know! I'm going to be a doctor, like you two!"

Snapping back to reality, it was raining and he could see Mikasa knelt beside him in worry while their senior scout was on the other side, yelling at him to get back to his senses.

Letting out a loud gasp for air, he choked and was brought into a coughing fit. To say the least the two were relieved.

Mikasa couldn't understand what was going on with Law, but she knew she also couldn't abandon the top cadet if they had to keep going. After all, the two of them promised they would run back to the vanguard together to return to their friends.

"Trafalgar D. Water Law." He hears his younger self introducing to whoever it was he was introducing himself to.

So that's his name.

His real identity.

Third pov ! —

He and Koby separated for now. The pinkette ran after Armin, while Sabo decided to grab some supplies for themselves.

Armin had witnessed Koby's downfall. He knew the pinkette was strong himself, he knew he needed to save him before the rest of the titans appeared, he knew—

Koby screamed at him with authority, demanding him to run, to flee. He didn't care about his life until he was sure Armin's safety was ensured.

The blonde ran off crying, doing as told as he did not look back.

Now with Sabo, he used his grappling hooks to climb the buildings, running and jumping from roof to roof. Only to find the rest of the cadets on one of the bigger roof, hands over their heads as if they have all lost hope.

"Oh, so this is all where you've gathered." Sabo grinned smugly, and everyone minus Sasha, Jean, Connie and the others glared at how carefree the blonde was acting, like Sasha.

Sabo glanced around for a certain pinkette, before hearing footsteps walking over to their group.

"Mikasa, Law! Weren't you two from the rearguard—"

"Annie!" Mikasa calls out and she stops in front of the blonde, Law following from behind as he holds one of the swords over his shoulder. "I understand the gist of the situation. So I'm sorry for letting my personal matters interfere, but—"

"Have you seen Squad 34?" Law interjected. Mikasa could've glared at Law, but the male had said it better than her.

Reiner pointed at Armin who was alone. Law narrowed his eyes at the blonde sitting in a depressed state and his heart clenched.

His other two couldn't have—

"Laaaw!" Law glanced around to find Sabo waving at him with a smile. The older male smiled slightly in relief, walking over to the blonde and patted his shoulder.

"Where's Koby/Eren?" Both Mikasa and Law asked the person in front of them. Sabo shrugged, followed by the saying he was also looking for him.

While Armin, looked up at Mikasa with a terrified look, tears streaming down his eyes as he pressed his hands against his knees.

"We..! The cadets of Squad 34.."

This catches both Sabo and Law's attention, as well as the rest of the cadets around them.

"Thomas Wagner.. Mina Carolina.. Eren Jaeger.. Koby..!"

Mikasa and Law froze, already getting the idea of what Armin would've say.

"These four members.. fulfilled their duties and died valiantly on the field of battle!"

Sabo almost stumbled down, hand over his mouth. His pupils shrunk and shaking in terror.

They just lost Koby..

"Sabo-ya." Law demanded all of a sudden. Sabo barely caught Law's demand, but he knew the older male — despite his amnesiac state, cared for the pinkette as much as he does.

"Scout the entire town."

This was an order of a captain of his own crew. As a leader himself, he knew he wasn't one to defy such orders.

"Right." Sabo stood strong, readjusting his gloves. They could hear the rest of the cadets hollering at them in panic. Law was casually sending Sabo out alone to scout the town manifested with titans. "I'll be back, Torao."

"OI!" Jean hollered, before the sound of the grappling hook cut him off and Sabo had already flown off.

As Mikasa declared her suicidal yet motivating speech, Law stood beside the girl with an intimidating stance. "You all heard her. You're all weak, we're not. But the weak don't get to decide anything, not even how they die."

The tattoeed male glare at all of them.

"And I won't die."

Law went ahead, and everyone else followed.

The first thing Koby noticed was that he was moving, he looked up to see the clouds clearing up to reveal the view of such beautiful scenery above.

The next thing he knew, he was laying on a titan's head, an abnormal titan at that. He doesn't know what happened exactly for him to lose to titans but he lived in result.

One second he was grabbed, about to be eaten. That's when he finally faced his fear and almost accepted death when the next second, another titan approached and punched the titan, startling Koby.

Holy shit. It was obvious. The rage, the anger and it's fighting skills belonged to none other than Eren.

This titan is Eren!

He must've passed out at the verge of realization and woke up to the sunlight. He wondered how he managed to stay still on the titan's head after a lot of moving around, but suppose it isn't the time for that.

"Over there! I'll protect you from behind— JEAN!" Koby waved with a smile at the baffled soldier.

"KOBYYYYY! YOU'RE— Standing on Eren!?" Sabo hollered followed by a sudden question with tears of relief in his eyes as he stood from the other side of the roof, away from the building where the rest of the cadets gather.

Law has gone ahead. He went all the way down to the supply room to kill all the titans himself and came back victorious with two pairs of gas and blades in both hands.

"The area's clear. You all can get supplies yourself. Now if you excuse me.."

...

They could hear the cries of Mikasa as she pressed her head against the boy's chest, hearing it beat normally at a normal pace.

Eren is alive.

Even Armin was evidently surprised. His friend Eren.. He witnesses it all. Eren died, Eren had his arm and leg severed brutally before he was eaten by a mere titan.

Beside them was Sabo hugging Koby in his arms, practically burying his face against the boy's chest. Law was on the other side with a small relieved smile

"We thought we lost you!" Sabo sobbed out. Koby could only smile sadly. He knew he was about to die at some point, yet he was still lucky he survived..

"Eren saved me, when I was about to get eaten."

All eyes look at him, minus Mikasa who was busy with Eren. They stared at him with incredulity, as if they were having a hard time believing Eren was a titan, and that he helped Koby.

"Levi, we're pulling out." Erwin called out as he was mounting his horse. Levi wiped his hand as he glared at the blonde. "Pulling out? But we can still go further!"

Levi hardened his glare. "My men will have died for nothing!"

His reasoning was cut short as Erwin opened his mouth to speak. "A swarm of titans has begun moving northward, toward the city."

Levi clenched his fists at the realization..

His children better be okay.
