The gun hit the doors. You heard the crashing of it against the large door; you felt the shaking of the ground. You felt as if you would suffocate at merely the thought of the large boulders falling from the mountain and crashing down on you.
Connix sat and waited for a signal, but it was apparent that no one would respond to offer help or support to the Resistance.
"Our distress signal's been received at multiple points, but no response," she said.
"They've heard us, but no one's coming."
Everyone in the room glanced at Leia, who was seated, her face solemn. "We fought til the end," she said. "But the galaxy has lost all of its hope. The spark is out."
You felt everything crash down. If Leia was surrendering to the possibility of failure, then that meant it was really time to say goodbye.
You thought of the future. The First Order would barge inside. Would they shoot you all down on sight? Would they take you prisoner? Did weeks and weeks of torment and torture await you, or would you be dead in a matter of minutes?
You thought of your friends, of the people you loved so much. Connix, Finn, Rey, Leia, Poe. Everyone who meant the entire universe to you. These people that had trusted you enough to let you help them.
Your head fell, and you squeezed your eyes shut. Poe stepped closer to you and you wrapped your arms around his middle, pressing your face into his chest.
"Look," he whispered, his hand on your back.
You did. Out of a light walked a mysteriously hooded figure. He stepped into view and lowered his hood before he went to sit by General Leia.
Your eyes widened in realization. In all of your years of hearing about Luke Skywalker, you were told horrible things. You were only told of how he betrayed his birthright, how he should have obeyed his father and ruled the Empire by his side.
But now, from your own perspective, you knew him as Leia's brother, a Jedi, a hero.
"Luke," she said softly, surprised. "I know what you're going to say. I changed my hair."
"It's nice that way," he told her. "Leia, I'm sorry."
"I know," she whispered. "I know you are. I'm just glad you're here at the end."
"I came to face him, Leia," he said. She looked shocked. "And I can't save him."
"I held out hope for so long, but I know my son is gone."
"No one's ever really gone," Luke replied. He took her hand into his. He dropped in her palm a pair of dice that you did not recognize. Then he grabbed her face, gently, and kissed her on the forehead.
He turned away. Fondly, C-3PO said, "Master Luke." Luke winked before walking towards the open doors of where the weapon had fired through.
You and Poe followed him to the exit. Large weapons were approaching, but they stopped in the presence of Luke Skywalker.

Hux couldn't make sense of it. One man against the entirety of this fleet? It seemed like the common preposterous thing for the Resistance to do. A final statement to the heroic attempts of the vile group of scum.
"Stop!" barked Kylo Ren. Hux winced at his voice. He had been Supreme Leader now for a short time, but in that time, had already made Hux consider treason so that he could have the position. "I want every gun we have to fire on that man."
Every gun? Hux did not understand his reasoning. It was a single man.
"Do it," he commanded.
They obeyed, and the salt covered ground exploded in a shot of red where Luke Skywalker stood. Hux watched, almost embarrassed at how this made the First Order seem.
"More!" Kylo said. "More!"
"That's enough," Hux said to him. The Supreme Leader ignored him, staring straight ahead, the red reflected in his eyes that were full of fury. "That's enough!"
They stopped firing. It was silent for a moment.
Kylo sat down. Hux turned.
"Do you think you got him?" He rolled his eyes. "Now, if we're ready to get moving, we can finish this."
"Sir?"
Kylo stood. Out of the red that was stuck in the air, Luke Skywalker stepped forward. Kylo Ren began to shake.
"Bring me down to him," he said. "Keep the door covered, and don't advance until I say."
Tiredly, Hux said, "Supreme Leader. Don't get distracted. Our goal---"
Suddenly, he was flying backwards. He felt his body hit the wall and he fell to the ground hard. Kylo Ren turned towards him and sneered.
"I don't believe you are in the position to be telling your Supreme Leader not to get distracted. If I'm not mistaken, you are distracted by the thought of your fiancee betraying you for a Resistance pilot. Don't pretend that your desires for what happens to the Resistance are anything but related to your distraction. I know you must have grand plans for how they're punished when they're taken in custody."
Hux lifted his head slowly. Ren took a final glance in his direction before exiting the ship.

Your eyes flickered from the figure of Luke to the figure dragging something inside. You gasped in relief when you saw it was Finn. You tapped Poe on the chest, then pointed. He ran over there right away.
"Med-pack!" Finn screamed. "I need a med-pack. She's hurt pretty bad."
After Rose was taken to the side to be treated, you stood by Finn. Poe stood in front of the rest of the Resistance, watching the scene.
"What's going on?" you asked. "Why haven't they tried to get past him yet?"
"It's Kylo Ren," Poe said. "Luke's facing him alone."
"Well, we should help him," Finn said. He stepped forward. "Let's go."
"No, wait, wait," Poe said, stopping Finn. "He's doing this for a reason. He's stalling so that we can escape."
"Escape?" Finn asked. "He's one man against an army. We have to help him. We have to fight."
"No, no, no. We are the spark that'll light the fire that'll burn the First Order down. Skywalker is doing this so that we can survive." He turned around. "There's gotta be a way out of this mine. How did he get in here?"
"Sir," C-3PO said, "It is possible that a natural unmapped opening exists. But this facility is such a maze of endless tunnels that the odds of finding an exit are fifteen thousand, four hundred---"
"Shh..." Poe waved a hand. "Shush. Hush. Shut up."
"Sixty eight to---"
Poe glared at him. "Shut up!"
"To one," he finished.
"Everybody, listen," Poe said softly.
You did.
"Oh! My audio senses no longer detect the---"
"Exactly," Poe said.
"Where'd the crystal critters go?" Finn asked.
You glanced around. At the back, near a tunnel, you saw a couple of them whimpering and cowering away. You looked at Poe and had a twitch of a smile on your face. He approached you and nodded, then turned to say to the others, "Follow me."
You grabbed Poe's hand, intertwined your fingers, and prepared to walk. Everyone else looked at Leia for confirmation.
"What are you lookin' at me for?" she asked. "Follow him!"
He smiled, and you kept hold of his hand as he lead you and the rest of the Resistance to the back of the tunnels.
