Trouble Next Door

It was just after lunch when trouble found me again. Honestly, I was half-expecting it. The morning had been too quiet, and quiet at UA was always a precursor to something annoying.

I was making my way back to Class 1-A, still irritated from the lack of sleep and the endless barrage of boring lessons, when I heard someone call out from behind me.

???: Hey, Midoriya!

I turned around to see a guy from Class 1-B. Tall, broad-shouldered, with a cocky grin plastered on his face. I recognized him—Tetsutetsu, I think. The guy with the steel Quirk. He looked like he was ready for a fight, which immediately put me on edge.

Great, just what I needed.

Tetsutetsu: I heard you've been throwing your weight around, buying votes and showing off in front of everyone. You think money and brains make you a hero?

I narrowed my eyes, already tired of this conversation before it even started.

Why is it always the same boring argument?

Me: What's it to you, steel-boy? Last time I checked, we're not even in the same class. Shouldn't you be minding your own business?

His grin widened, and I could tell he was gearing up to make this a big deal.

Tetsutetsu: You're just a quirkless kid with too much money and too big of an ego. Someone needs to put you in your place.

I sighed, reaching into my pocket and pulling out a stack of cash.

This again...

Me: Listen, I don't have time for your wannabe hero complex. So, how about this? Take the money, walk away, and we'll both pretend this never happened.

I held out the cash, fully expecting him to grab it and leave. But of course, that would have been too easy.

Tetsutetsu: I'm not for sale, Midoriya. You think you can just buy everyone off?

I smirked, letting the money fall to the floor between us.

Me: No, but I think you're too stupid to realize when you're out of your league. But fine, if you'd rather lose to a quirkless 'kid' than walk away with a nice stack of cash, that's your choice.

His eyes narrowed, and I could see the steel start to coat his skin. He was getting ready to fight. I rolled my eyes.

Why does everyone think they can take me just because I don't have a Quirk?

Me: Alright, you want to fight? Let's get it over with. But don't come crying to me when you realize you've just been humiliated by a quirkless person.

He charged at me, metal fists swinging. I sidestepped easily, letting him barrel past me and crash into the lockers. The sound of metal on metal echoed through the hall.

Tetsutetsu: Fight me for real, Midoriya!

Me: I am. You're just too slow to notice.

He turned and charged again, this time faster, but I was already anticipating his moves. With a quick spin, I dodged his fist and landed a solid kick to his side. The impact sent a shockwave through my leg, but I knew it would rattle him more. Steel or not, a well-placed hit was still a well-placed hit.

Me: You're strong, I'll give you that but only because of your qurik. Witout it, you are nothing. But strength without brains is just wasted potential.

He growled, swinging wildly, but I was already two steps ahead. Every time he tried to land a hit, I was gone, moving around him like a shadow.

Finally, he overextended, and I saw my opening. I ducked under his swing, grabbed his arm, and used his momentum to flip him onto the floor. He hit the ground with a resounding thud, the wind knocked out of him.

I stood over him, dusting off my hands.

Me: Told you. Now, do yourself a favor and stay put like a good dog and how about you try barking too?

Tetsutetsu glared up at me, but he didn't move. He knew he was beaten. I reached into my pocket again, pulled out another wad of cash, and tossed it onto his chest.

Me: Here's a tip for the effort. Next time, maybe think twice before picking a fight with someone who knows how to actually use their brain.

Without another word, I turned and walked away, leaving him lying there with his pride—and his wallet—a little lighter.

Honestly, people need to learn that money can buy you a lot, but it can't buy you out of stupidity.

As I made my way back to Class 1-A, I couldn't help but chuckle to myself. This school was really something else. No one in here ever learns at all.
