A Hospital's Clumsy Intern
───────────────────────────────────
The rooms were cold, and the halls were silent. The walls couldn't just hear, but they could also see what took place on the night of the attack.
"How could you be so stupid to mix up Yoo's documents with Yoon's? How can you be so irresponsible? Do you know just how bad this all could've turned out? I can't keep watching over your every mistake!"
The yelling was sudden and incredibly strong that it woke up some of the sleeping patients nearby. The young intern just looked down as his superior threw the documents at him. He knew he was at fault and he knew it could've been far worse if his superior hadn't noticed his mistake. All he could do was keep his head down and acknowledge his faults.
"That's it. I'm scheduling you for overnight work this whole week starting today," said his superior. "You better make up for this."
The rest of the day went by as slow as it could. The young intern dreaded having to stay overnight. He had clocked in early morning because of an emergency, but throughout the day, the hospital was so busy that he wasn't able to catch a break. He had to be awake very early and even left his house without having breakfast. On top of that, he couldn't even have lunch and it was already getting dark outside. He had to stay attending patients until late at night, which he thought was just cruel and impossible for him. He felt like a walking zombie in a horror movie, but he still showed a bright smile to his patients whenever he saw them. It was his job, so he couldn't complain.
He walked over to the reception desk as his eyes started closing little by little. He decided he needed a break at last and it was his opportunity, since the hospital was finally at peace. When he passed by the desk, he accidentally hit his leg in the corner, causing the monitor to fall directly on his foot. He was worried about the monitor for a second until he directed his focus to the pain that he felt on his foot.
"Fucking shit," he cursed under his breath as he picked up the monitor and placed it on the table where it was. He looked around the monitor and made sure there were no scratches or bents. Everyone knew him for breaking things a lot.
His foot was in so much pain that he had to take a moment for himself and finally sit down. He looked to the sides and saw no one. No one was there. No one came into the hospital. No one at all. He placed his head down, finally being able to close his eyes for just a moment. That was when he heard silent footsteps approaching him, but he was so worn out that he couldn't even bring his head up. He just believed that someone had walked in and gone to visit a patient or walked out because there was no one at the reception desk. He had his head hidden behind the computer so no one could see the sleeping person behind it.
After waiting a minute, he lifted his head, but he saw no one. He looked to his sides again, but saw no one. The hospital was silent just like before.
Then the phone started ringing.
"Kang Hospital reception. How can I help you?" he asked. The voice on the other line was a young man around his own age.
"My father was brought in the other day," said the voice. "I wasn't able to see him today because of work, so I wanted to see how he was doing. His name is Byun Haneul."
The intern looked at the files in front of him and tried to look for anything that mentioned the name Byun Haneul. He found his papers and found the room number as he read through the information and remembered meeting with the patient a few hours before.
"He's getting better. Actually, he woke up this morning. We checked up on him and everything was fine. We asked if he wanted to call a family member, but he immediately called his lawyer. He said he had to write his will before it was too late. Just in case anything happened to him, but he's very well now. We transferred him to a normal room to get him out of the emergency room. I'll be checking up on him again tonight."
"Thank you, sir," said the young man. "Thank you."
Once the call ended, the intern stood up with a bit of difficulty because of his foot and went over to check up on his patients. He started with Byun Haneul. He walked to his room, but on the way, he stopped in his tracks. A noise was coming from inside the room, which he thought was just his sleepy mind playing games with him. Regardless, he walked closer to the door and suddenly it opened, pushing him to the floor as a man wearing all black walked out. The intern looked at the man, but he didn't hesitate to run away. At that moment, the intern associated the footsteps from earlier with the mysterious man.
"Wait a minute! Stop!" he yelled as he stood up and tried running after him. His foot was in so much pain that he couldn't properly catch up. He wondered who the man was and why he was running away, but he just assumed that the cameras would capture his face, so he ran back to the room. Once he was inside, he looked at the patient and then turned to the monitor in panic. There was a straight line on it. He walked closer to the patient in utter shock as he started shaking. He was nervous and scared.
The patient was dead.
In a state of shock, he ran out of the room and slammed the door shut. His eyes went blurry and his legs were trembling. He slid down the door and sat on the floor as he hugged onto his legs. He couldn't see anything and he couldn't hear anything. Tears were running down his face. All he could think of was the call he had a few minutes ago with the patient's son. That broke him and he completely started crying. All he thought was that he got him killed. He got his own patient killed.
Suddenly, he heard once again, this time a familiar voice. His superior was calling him. "Kim Namjoon! Get your ass over here!"

The phone just kept ringing.
"Answer it," Ara said. "It's probably Eunha."
"No," he firmly said. "I can't help it, but I want to kiss you. I don't know why, but I just want to."
They both stood there again. He looked at her, and Ara didn't know what to do. She couldn't help it. He wanted to kiss her again, and she wanted to kiss him again. And so it happened. Immediately, both got closer and their lips touched once again. They were longing for each other, desperately. It wasn't like the first time. It was more passionate than before. She wrapped her arms around his neck as he placed his hands on her waist. He deepened the kiss as he tilted his head, allowing more access to her mouth. They kissed with such passion and intensity, being intoxicated by each other's touch, that they completely forgot about the other guys being in the same house. The phone had stopped ringing, but in a matter of seconds, it began once again.
Jimin pulled back to turn it off but hesitated when he noticed it wasn't Eunha this time. It was Baekhyun.
"Your brother is calling," he said. "I need to take this."
He looked at Ara for a moment, wishing to continue kissing her lips once again. However, he knew Baekhyun wasn't the type to just call for no reason. He had to answer it. Mainly because of the case that Baekhyun was working on. Mainly because it had to do with Kang & Co. and his fiancée was the CEO. Mainly because if it affected Kang & Co., it also affected him. He looked at his phone and answered it as he walked away and left Ara there, shocked and confused at the interaction that had just happened.

"The day at the hospital there were three people on the floor that my father was in," Baekhyun said. "One of them I met on the day of the funeral. He was an intern during that time. I can't recall his name very well. I think it was Kim something. Kim Nam—Kim Nam—I don't know right now. But the others were the superior and a man. He wore all black and a face mask. The intern told me during the funeral. I just couldn't remember because I was a crying mess."
At that moment, Jimin started thinking about the night of Haneul's death without having ever been there. He envisioned the people that Baekhyun had told him about without even knowing their names or what they looked like. He only saw an intern and a superior. Then he saw a man dressed in all black. That certainly had to be the culprit—if there even was one to begin with. The intern had to know. The intern had seen both the superior and the man in black that night. He had to have seen something.
"I'm going to introduce you to someone," he said. "He's a crime investigator. His name is Min Yoongi. He's in my house right now. He can help with the situation."
"And Eunha? Has she suspected anything?"
"No. Not at all. She won't suspect anything. Trust me."

"She came here on purpose, Sunggyu. She's chasing us down. Do you think she's out for the money we took? She has to be out for the money! Jimin isn't even answering my calls. He must know something! She probably told him something. Say something!"
Eunha was the most stressed she could ever be. The most stressed she ever was in her life. She was losing Jimin. He was slipping out of her fingers, and she hated the fact that she couldn't control him anymore. Sunggyu was having enough of her yelling. With every word that she blurted out, he started getting even more anxious. He started scratching his upper arms with his nails as he tried to relieve himself from the stress he was feeling. The scratching marks he left on himself were visible, but they weren't permanent—at least not like the deep scratches he had on that same area from years before.
"We've done too much, Eunha!" he yelled. "It's illegal, all of it, and you know it! We're not saints. We stole, we killed, we lied."
Eunha stood up. Her eyes were red with anger. She couldn't handle it anymore. His words, his face, his truth. He spoke the truth and she didn't like it. She couldn't handle it. She knew he was aware of everything. He was always there. He always took part in it. But now, she couldn't handle the fact that he knew everything that she had ever done. She couldn't handle the fact that he was so weak-minded that one day he could decide to turn himself in with her. If he ever said a word, she could get into some big trouble—big legal trouble—and it scared her to death.
"You stole, you killed, and you lied!" she yelled. She moved closer to him and suddenly, her hand was across his face. It stung, it hurt. He stood there and looked at the floor with his hand holding onto his cheek. He couldn't get used to it. Every single time, it hurt him. Every single time, he wanted to end it. Every single time, he endured the abuse.
Yet, he still loved her.

Back at Jimin's house, everyone was asleep. Some guys fell asleep in the living room and some went to the guest rooms. Jimin was still awake. He couldn't sleep, so he walked around his room and started thinking about everything. His talk with Baekhyun. The kiss with Ara. Eunha's call.
He decided that if his mind was racing so much, the best option was for him to be more productive in order to distract it. He went down the stairs and walked over to his office to check some documents he had left there about Kang & Co. When he opened the door to his office, he found Ara sleeping peacefully on the couch. The cleaning had left her exhausted, and without realizing, she fell asleep. She had her right arm and leg spread out as they hung from the couch with a dusty towel on her other hand, which was placed right under her chin, causing her to sneeze and wake up. Her eyes widened when she saw Jimin, so she stood up immediately and rubbed them again to make sure she wasn't dreaming.
"I-I'm sorry, I fell asleep," she said, standing up. She couldn't balance properly and Jimin noticed as she was tilting to the sides and slightly falling back. He immediately caught her in his arms as her eyes widened again. This time, she was fully awake.
"No, no. Lay down," he said. "You've been here since very early today. You need some rest. I know you've worked a lot."
She refused as she stood up properly again and said, "No, I can't. I have to go."
She walked past him to the door, but he grabbed her hand and stopped her. She stopped in her tracks and sighed, but she didn't turn to face him. At that moment, she recalled the kiss from before, but didn't want to bring it up. Jimin wanted to apologize, but he didn't want to at the same time. He loved every second of the kiss so much, and with Ara kissing him back, he knew she thought the same. He believed it and it was true, so he couldn't apologize. Ara didn't want to acknowledge anything that he was thinking, but she thought about it too. It wasn't just him kissing her; she kissed him back too. They were both at fault, but none of them wanted to admit it. He let her go, expecting her to stay, but she opened the door and left the room.
The next morning, when the guys left, Eunha finally appeared back at the house. She walked over to the main entrance but stopped when she saw Jimin on the balcony. He was leaning on the rail as he smoked his cigarette and looked down at her. Eunha smiled and waved her hand at him, but he displayed no emotions on his face. Eunha lowered her hand slowly, feeling her throat burning up inside of her. He was glaring down at her. She was confused, but scared even more, so she grabbed her keys and kept walking over to the door.
When Jimin saw her walk inside, he turned off his cigarette and walked back toward his room so he wouldn't have to face her. Eunha was on her way upstairs when she saw Jimin entering his room and closing the door from behind. Suddenly, she heard the door lock. At that moment, she felt something strange. She knew something was wrong, but she couldn't even confront him about it. All she did was walk over to the guest room and lock herself inside.
Jimin changed into one of his suits and made his way out in order to meet up with Baekhyun alongside Yoongi. Baekhyun told Yoongi everything he had remembered from the funeral, so when Yoongi went back to his office, he searched for interns at the Kang Hospital during the time Byun Haneul passed away. They all agreed that finding the intern would be helpful to recall the events of that night. If the intern had seen the man in black, then they would be a step closer to finding the culprit. That was, of course, if the intern even saw his face to begin with.
As Yoongi scrolled through the list of interns, he paused when he saw a familiar name. He clicked on the link to the profile of the intern and widened his eyes. Then he remembered what Baekhyun had told him. Kim Nam—
"Kim Namjoon? Joon worked at the Kang Hospital?" he asked himself as he picked up his phone in a rush. He dialed Jimin's number and when he answered, Yoongi couldn't help but yell, "Namjoon was in the Kang Hospital that day! He saw what happened—he was the intern!"
