Chapter 16: At Your Highest
A/N: Mona's sexy outfit above 😌😌😌^^^
Ștefan and I were walking up the stairs of a triumphal arch. I've never been here before, but he said the top was the best, so here we were. Lucky enough, both my kids had something to do today, so I was free for a few hours.
"Are we nearly there?" I puffed out between breaths. I pushed my hair back so I could see the black and white photographs that dangled from the ceiling. I was able to touch their tips and brushed against some artefacts that were displaced on the side.
"Nearly, just hold on, only a few more steps," Ștefan said while gently tugging my arm. I shrugged and sipped my bubble tea. Meanwhile, I had a smile of hope that I would be pretty enough for him. I wasn't sure at first of wearing this outfit, so I asked Laura this morning and she said it was perfect.
When we were at the top, the chilly breeze rushed over my hair like a river. Ștefan guided me to the edge and pointed to the horizon. A gasp fell out of me when I saw rows of sunlit trees standing along the car lanes, like honey rained from the sky kand dripped onto the leaves.
"This looks so pretty..." I murmured, resting on my arms. I wrapped my lips round the straw while admiring the view. Some birds zoomed over our heads, and straight through the planks of clouds laid across the blue skies of Bucharest.
"I'm glad you like it." He let out a roasty chuckle and plopped down next to me. He took my arm and caressed it slowly. "You really are a breath of fresh air. Unlike my ex, who never appreciated anything I did for her."
"Serios?" I asked and tucked some hair behind my ear. He nuzzled into my palm with a light touch like a feather, when he smiled, he could probably smell the perfume I sprayed earlier.
"Da," he nodded and rose with the biggest grin, like he just woken up from a dream. He glanced down at my nails and stroked over their reddish glaze. "It felt very one-sided, and she would just complain about everything like nothing could ever please her. But the thing that hurt me the most is when she suddenly broke up with me without any explanation. Like I wasn't even worth that."
"Wow, that sounds really disappointing."
"Da I know. Did you ever have to deal with something like that?"
"Not really. But I have had lots of complaining before, when I was married. Whenever I made a mistake, my late husband would start barking at me and even tell me off like he was my tată."
"He would start barking at you?" he raised an eyebrow and cocked his head.
I nodded. "As if I was another one of his little kids."
"Wow, that sounds awful. Why would he even need to complain?"
"Well, it would only happen when I kept on dropping things because I used to be quite clumsy." I laughed awkwardly. "Funny thing is that it actually made me lose a job I once had."
"Serios? Did you get on your employer's nerves?"
"Da. He got fed up with me messing things up." I mumbled and patted my heated cheeks. "But honestly, he made me more nervous, which then made me drop things even more," I said and slurped up my bubble tea.
"Ăăă okay. But I still think you didn't need to be yelled at like that," he said and patted my back.
"Mulțumesc," I thanked him with a mumble and an awkward laugh escaped my lips.
"What's the matter? You don't believe me?" He scooted closer while staring at me.
I just smiled and brushed my hair back. Sometimes I would tell myself that if I had just been more careful, they wouldn't need to shout at me.
"Actually, before I forget, I have something for you," he said and dug into his pocket. "Close your eyes."
I closed them tight, but flinched when he lifted my hand and wounded it around my wrist.
"Okay, you can open them now."
My eyes snapped open, and I gasped when I saw a floral bracelet and a gold one.
"Aw, Ștefan, did you make this yourself?" I said, while turning my hand round.
"Da, I hope you like it. It was a bit hard getting the stems to stay together, but I'm proud of how it turned out," he said, puffing out his chest.
"Mulțumesc..." I murmured. I cupped his cheek, grazing it affectionately, and brought it closer to my lips. Where I planted a small kiss.
I pulled away and stared at the bracelet while sucking on my straw. An inner glow passed behind the petals like an eclipse. I felt a pool of tears coming up as I desperately wanted this to be genuine and real instead of a trick, because I really loved this.
But suddenly my arm tensed under the wrap, sending rising goose-bumps across my skin when the stems brushed too close for comfort.
"Is it too tight for you?" His eyes lowered towards my wrist.
I quickly shook my head. "It's bine."
I squeezed my stress into the cup while slurping my drink. I tried distracting myself by staring at the balls of leaves, but my heart palpitated up a sickly feeling in my throat. The stems kept rubbing my skin, and they seemed to tighten like snake coils, making my knuckles clench.
"Actually, can you loosen it a bit?"
"Sigur." He stood right in front of me and fiddled with the bracelet. My cheeks grew warm, my heart thumping as the bracelet continued scratching my skin. I saw he snuck a quick glance at me before kissing my hand when the bracelet was loose enough.
"There you go. I hope it's better now."
"Da, much better." I smiled as my chest felt calmer.
"By the way, you look really beautiful today."
"Multumesc," I said. He smiled with his pearly whites and pulled me closer under his arms. I blushed slightly while my breasts were in perfect view, sitting comfortably like well-defined bread rolls.
We then looked over the parks together and when it was time for us to go back down, we held hands and exchanged cheek kisses before saying goodbye. I jumped into my car and put on my long cardigan while looking at the bracelet. The gold shone in the light when on my lap. They were so beautiful that I felt like showing them off to the world.
I picked up Reina from her horse riding and Raiden from his friends. They bounced into the car with their refreshed smiles.
"Do you want to go to eat somewhere? Since I'm feeling a bit nice," I asked as I adjusted the mirror and I turned to them.
"Where are we going to eat?" Raiden asked.
"I'm not sure. I might search up something on my phone. What do you guys think?"
"I want to do that but are you feeling okay Mamă?" Reina asked.
"Da, of course sweetie," I said when she leaned forward and stared at me like I was a sick child. It started to make me a little uncomfortable until she returned to her seat while saying nothing.
I ended up taking them to a buffet and, we went inside. It was well-lit by ceiling lights with cones moulded in different shapes. There were plant pots placed around as their leaves whirled down like vines.
We got some trays and went where the food was served. Raiden pressed his face to the glass, fidgeted around, and bumped into me while Reina licked her lips and was leaning against him. I got grilled chicken with potato wedges while my kids got grilled sandwiches, French fries and coke. They rushed ahead and shuffled inside some cushioned seats while I sat opposite them.
I cut my chicken while watching my kids happily eat their sandwiches. It brought a smile to my face seeing them enjoy themselves. Raiden kneaded his seat and wiggled while Reina was tapping on her phone.
"How was your day? Tell me what you did." I popped a chicken into my mouth and clasped my hands together, smiling in readiness for them.
"Me and my friends played racing, and I kept making my car flip over on the track." Raiden bumbled in laughter and took a big bite of his sandwich.
"Serios? Were you going really fast?"
"Da! And then the car kept spinning in the middle until I got it back in the race. I came in third place, but the second time I came in second place!"
"Aw, that's really good for getting to second, despite spinning in circles." I started laughing and sipped my bubble tea.
"Mersi Mami." Raiden grinned with his rosy cheeks.
"Did you spin and kick their cars off the track like you do to me," Reina side-eyed him while eating some fries.
"Reiny, I never do that to you. I just gently move you out of the way," he said as his hands fanned her away.
"Nu nu nu. You bump my car into the fence." Reina pressed her lips together. "You kick me off the track and then you kick me off your bed."
Raiden ended up giggling uncontrollably, causing bags of snot shooting out his nose. He wiped it away and sucked the lip of his bottle. "I don't mean to do that..." He turned towards her, lips curling into a grin, and patted her head. "I'm sorry for kicking you, little baby."
She tried biting him but he dodged back in time while she started laughing and took a French fry.
"What about you Reina?" I asked, turning to her. "What did you do with Prințesă?"
"We went on a walk through the woods near the equestrian centre," Reina said with a mouthful. "But then we heard some noises and Prințesă got a bit scared and I almost fell off."
"Oh dear. Did you actually fall or were you able to hang on?"
"I hung on." She smiled like an angel and picked up another chip. She relaxed back into her seat and started nibbling while staring into space.
"Mami, what's that on your hand?" Raiden asked. A blush crept onto my cheeks, leaving me speechless. When I looked up, he was no longer eating and propped his head on his pillow of palms. His blue eyes fixated on my floral bracelet like a laser beam.
"Someone gave it to me," I said and dived into my potato wedges, hoping that'll cure his curiosity.
"Who gave it to you Mamă?" Reina piped up as she looked and sounded like an owl.
"Somebody."
"Do you have a boyfriend?" Raiden slid closer across the table. His grin got wider as Reina was also waiting for an answer.
"Eat your food," I said and focused on my plate while trying hard not to laugh.
