Chapter 6: Wedding

Disclaimer: I only own Alec Javert, Adaline, and Marié.

May 5th, 1832

Adaline POV:

It is the day of Enjolras's and my wedding. I can't wait! I snuck Marié out of my parents' house so that she could be my maid of honor at the wedding. Éponine is my only other bridesmaid while Gavroche is the ring bearer. I'm currently at the church where we're getting married. Marié helps me into my dress while Enjolras is getting into his suit. I'm assuming. With Grantaire in the bachelor party, anything is possible.

Again, I got Marié to bring some of my parents' money as a big f you to them. I mean, I'm getting married to the leader of the revolutionaries; my parents are as big of the French King's supporters as anyone. I hear a knock on the door.

"Who is it?" I call.

"Your soon-to-be husband!" Enjolras replies, a smile in his voice.

"You can't look at the bride in her wedding dress before she walks down the aisle!! It's bad luck!" Marié shouts as she fixes my dress in the back.

"Please? Five minutes?" Enjolras begs.

"No. You'll see her in one hour," Marié says as she stands firm. One hour? What if Gavroche accidentally loses the rings? I need to breathe. I'm freaking out like at the first rally.

"Je t'aime, my one true love," Enjolras calls through the door. I rest my hand on the wood, imagining Enjolras doing the same thing on the other side of the door.

"Je t'aime aussi, my true love," I reply as I hear footsteps behind the door. I vaguely hear Courfeyrac telling Enjolras it's time to go. I hear Enjolras's footsteps walk away, his footfalls growing fainter and fainter until I can't hear them anymore. Courfeyrac opens the door with his eyes closed. Marié and Éponine start to walk down to the church quickly, leaving Courfeyrac and I alone.

"Is it okay to look?" he asks.

"Yes, I'm in my dress already." Courfeyrac opens his eyes and his jaw drops.

"Adaline-you-you look beautiful!!" he cries.

"Oh, so I didn't look beautiful before?" I say jokingly.

"Umm.. uh-you-" he stutters. I laugh.

"I was joking. It's okay," I explain lightly. He extends his arm out to me.

"Are you ready to be given away?" he asks.

"Yes. I've been ready the whole day. Oh, and what happened at the bachelor party?"

"I probably shouldn't tell you if you don't want to kill Grantaire." Oh no.

"What happened?" I question, more firmly this time.

"Ummm... GrantaireletGavrochetrysomewineatthebachelorparty." The only thing I heard was Grantaire, Gavroche, and wine.

"What?"

"I'm going to die," Courfeyrac mutters under his breath. "Grantaire let Gavroche try some wine at the bachelor party." My eyes grow wide.

"And where is Grantaire now?"

"I'm not telling. I don't think Grantaire would like it if you murder him in cold blood." I roll my eyes.

"I'm going to go to my wedding, get married, and then I'm going to find Grantaire and murder him." Courfeyrac walks down towards the church with me on his arm. We enter the church and see a line of people in dresses and suits. Gavroche is there as well, tugging at the collar of his suit. I walk towards Marié and Éponine, who are waiting in line next to Combeferre and Marius respectively. I nod my head towards them, and the girls run towards me.

"I can't believe you're getting married!" Marié squeals. "I remember when you snuck out of your parents' house to walk in Paris!"

"Well, it's a good thing I did otherwise we wouldn't be here and I'd probably be getting married to Javert." I shudder along with Marié. Marié had to fend off Javert's attempts at seeing me when I still lived at my parents'. Gavroche walks into the main part of the church, holding a soft pillow with our rings on it. The music starts, and Éponine and Marius walk off to where Gavroche is arm in arm. I smirk. Marius still has no clue that Éponine is head over heels in love with him. Then, Marié and Combeferre follow them, but not without Marié turning to me and winking. Then, the music swells. I take a deep breath and take Courfeyrac arm.

We make our way down the aisle, and I look up at Enjolras. His eyes are wide and his mouth is open in an O. I giggle slightly, which causes me to nearly trip over my feet. Luckily, I catch myself. Enjolras is wearing a black suit with a red tie. Of course.

Courfeyrac and I meet Enjolras at the altar next to Jehan, whose officiating the ceremony. As I pass by Enjolras to get to my spot, I quietly sing under my breath: "Red, the blood of angry men; Black, the dark of ages past." He tries to control his laughter and finally succeeds.

"Welcome to the marriage joining two souls in love; Apollo Enjolras and Adaline MacMahon." Enjolras grimaces at his first name, and I almost lose it right then and there. Luckily, I don't. "Do you, Enjolras (he hates his first name), take Adaline as your lawful wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and cherish until death do you part?"

"I do," Enjolras says calmly, even though his eyes are bright with nervousness. I smile gently at him from behind my veil.

"Do you, Adaline, take Enjolras as your lawful husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and cherish until death do you part?"

"I do," I say, grinning as wide as I can.

"Then, you may kiss the bride." Enjolras, smirking, lifts my veil and dips me. He kisses my lips passionately as I hear Grantaire's drunken wolf-whistles, Gavroche's ewws of disgust, and Marié and Éponine's faint crying. He pulls me up to my feet and holds my hand. His palm is warm and fits perfectly with mine. "May I have the pleasure to announce, for the very first time, Monsieur and Madame Enjolras!!" Jehan shouts as we walk down the aisle. Well, we start to walk and then Enjolras picks me up bridal-style and starts to run with me in his arms. I squeal, laughing as we go out of the church. We walk all the way to Café Musain, where the reception is. As I walk up the stairs, my dress gets caught on my shoe and I start to fall backwards. I brace myself for the pain but it never comes. I feel strong arms wrap around me, catching me before I hit the floor.

"I think I should carry you up the stairs," Enjolras says. "I don't want you getting hurt."

"I can get up the stairs myself, you know." He raises an eyebrow skeptically and I laugh. I start to walk up the stairs again but then Enjolras picks me up and starts to walk up the stairs while carrying me. "Let me go!!" I cry out, laughing even while speaking. Enjolras doesn't respond, getting all the way up the secret staircase before putting me down. I tap his nose with my finger and walk into the meeting room, looking back behind me. Enjolras's face is still frozen in shock. He unfreezes and follows me into the room. I run back to his desk and grab one of his speeches. He mock-glares at me. I start to read out his speech dramatically, hand over my heart. "In the future there will be neither darkness nor thunderbolts; neither ferocious ignorance..." my voice trails off as Enjolras cuts my path off, towering over me with his arms folded. He grabs my waist and pulls me closer to him, my squeal cut off by his lips crashing down on mine. He picks me up and sits me on the desk. I almost drop the speech, Enjolras catching it and placing it behind me. My hands wind through his hair, making it messier than it was at the beginning of today.

"Adaline! Enjolras, or should I say Apollo!" We part, Enjolras's face contorting in an annoyed expression.

"No, you shall not say Apollo," Enjolras retorts as I try to fight back a laugh. "And what do you want, Grantaire?" Wait, it's Grantaire. Time to go all Mama Bear on him.

"Oh, Grantaire! What's this I hear about you giving Gavroche some alcohol?" I fold my arms, glaring intently at the man in question. Courfeyrac sighs and steps back from Grantaire, making sure he isn't caught in the crossfire.

"Adaline, ma chérie, you might need to calm down and not murder Grantaire," Enjolras says, trying to calm me down (A/N: ma chérie = my darling). I look up into his azure eyes, eyes that are currently filled with love and compassion. I slowly unfold my arms and relax. Gavroche pushes his way up to us, still in his suit.

"Can I please get out of this suit now?" he asks. "Oh, and by the way, congratulations!!" he says as he... raises up his middle finger? My eyes widen and Enjolras has to bite back a chuckle.

"Who taught you that?" I say quickly as I look around the room. Grantaire's arm raises as he takes a long swig of his wine. I sigh and rub my temples. "Grantaire!! Please cease teaching Gavroche crude actions and giving him wine!" Grantaire, being dramatic as always, salutes me.

"Who would have thought that Enjolras, of all people, would be the first one out of our little group to get married!" Courfeyrac says, shaking his head in disbelief.

"Oh, shut up," Enjolras retorts, sighing.

"It's time for champagne!!!" someone shouts, of course it's Grantaire.

"Okay, fine! None for Gavroche, though." I walk over to the water pitcher and pour Gavroche a glass of water. I turn around and see Grantaire pouring Gavroche a glass. I walk quickly over and take the champagne glass out of Grantaire's hands and put the water in Gavroche's hands.

"Oh come on, Adaline! He's a growing boy," Grantaire whines, already more than half drunk.

"Exactly, he's a growing boy. He's too young."

"Okay, okay!! I'm going to but in before Adaline murders Grantaire. Let's have a toast, to Adaline and-" here Courfeyrac smirks and Enjolras sighs, knowing what's going to happen next-"Apollo, that they may live a happy life and stay in love for the end of time."

"And before we toast, I need to say one thing," Enjolras cuts in. "If any of you don't say Enjolras, I will murder you or cut off your hair while you sleep. Maybe both." All of the boys gulp.

"To us!" Enjolras and I say.

"To Adaline and Enjolras!!!" Everyone else says, Grantaire mumbling Apollo because he loves to annoy my one true love. Enjolras's arm wraps around my waist, pulling me close to him. He kisses my cheek softly as I smile up at him. My husband. It feels so weird but at the same time so right to think that. Enjolras and I, after thanking everyone who came to our wedding, leave the Café and start to walk towards Enjolras's-no, our-home.

Grantaire and Combeferre make kissy noises because Grantaire's drunk as usual and Combeferre just loves to annoy people. We finally arrive at our house, Enjolras sweeping me off of my feet and carrying me over the threshold. I squeal in laughter. He spins around as he walks into our room and I giggle.

"Put me down!" I laugh as he continues to twirl me around. He sets me on my feet and I accidentally stumble into his chest. His chest vibrates as he laughes. I grab onto his hands and start to dance around the room with him. Enjolras gently leads me towards the bed until I fall back on it.

I reach my hand up to his bowtie and gracefully untie it, throwing it away. He removes his jacket.......

Author's Note: Okay so they did it for the first time. I'm not going into details about it because I'm only 14 and have NOT done anything like this before in my life. The only thing I will write about is kissing and stuff like what is above. I hope that you guys like this story!! Vive la France!!
