CHAPTER TWO; HE ISN'T MY TYPE

CHAPTER TWO;

HE ISN'T MY TYPE
April
....

I have been working for Nicole for the past two weeks and I'm going to admit that I liked working for her. Sure the work does get exhausting and annoying but to see the relief on Nicole's face when I tell her I finished with everything I had to do, is totally worth it.

I have noticed something though, no one called Nicole by her first name. It is always Ms. Garcia, weird because she told me I can call her by her first name. I shook that thought away as I walked down the hall to the lounge room that was on the fifth floor. It was my daily coffee run for Nicole. I didn't mind, it gave me a chance to be absorbed by my thoughts.

My eyes quickly caught sight of a plate full of colorful decorate cookies set up on a table. They had flower designs and were pretty and pink. I grabbed one and started nibbling on it while I got Nicole coffee.

I suddenly felt someone bump me almost making me drop my cookie, "Oh I'm sorry." I turned around to find a man with bleach blonde hair tucked into a ponytail and a kind smile.

I smiled softly at him, "Its okay."

He stared at me and pointed a finger at me, "Are you new here?"

"I just started two weeks ago."

"I'm Nick." He says offering his hand to shake.

I placed my small one in his, "April."

"Like the month?"

"Yes."

"Beautiful."

"Its quite a common name, I mean if you go to one of those stands that sell key chains with names on it, I'm 85% sure that you will find the name April on it." I was feeling quite shy and self conscious. I mean yeah he was a pretty good looking guy but I'm just a natural shy girl by heart.

I picked up the steaming cup of coffee and started to walk out of the lounge, "It was nice meeting you, now I must go take this to Nicole."

Before I can walk away in peace, Nick follows me out of the room. "Why do you need to take that to Ms. Garcia?"

"Um because she's my boss and she wants coffee."

"She can always go get her own damn coffee."

"Its kinda my daily thing to go get her coffee." I say awkwardly.

"Isn't that her assistant's job?"

"I am her assistant..."

"Let me held you take it to her." He offers.

I quickly shake my head, "No that's fine, I got it myself." There was just an odd feeling about Nick.

"I can't just not help a lady, plus I want to talk to you more." I was simply getting irritated by his presence but I wasn't going to tell him that.

"Okay."

Through out the whole elevator ride Nick kept talking about himself and complementing me. "You look great in that dress." Yeah no shit, why do you think I'm wearing it?

The elevator dinged indicating that we have arrived on the right floor. Just a couple more minutes of this bullshit. Just as I thought he was going to bid me goodbye and go back down, he chooses to walk out of the elevator with me and starts walking to me to Nicole's office.

"Are you from here?" He asked.

I shook my head, "No, I'm from Union City."

He looked at me confused, "Where's that?"

"In New Jersey." I answered just as we got to the door of Nicole's office.

"Doesn't New Jersey have good pizza?"

I shrugged my shoulders wanting nothing more than to just end this conversation, "I guess, I mean I'm not a big fan of pizza."

Nick gasps dramatically making me want to poor this steamy cup of coffee over my head. "Really?"

"Pizza is alright, I don't know I'm just not very fond of it."

"We should change that?"

"We?"

"Yeah we. I say that during your lunch hour, I'll take you out to a great pizza place that I know." Dude I just met you.

I bit my lip, "I don't know, I have a lot of work to do."

"Aw come one, its really good. The pizza is always fresh and the service is good."

"Sounds tempting but I'm gonna to pass. Nicole has given me a whole stack of papers to fill out and I really don't want to disappoint her." I said lying about the stack of papers part.

Nick rolled his eyes, "She can do her own shit. You aren't some damn maid."

I tapped my fingers of the coffee cup feeling super intolerable, "Its my job."

"And isn't she the owner of this place? She can do it on her own. Just come to lunch with me and I promise you won't regret it."

Just then the door open revealing a ravishing Nicole who seemed annoyed. She placed her arms across her chest and stared daggers into Nick.

"She said no and she does have a lot if work to do for me since I can't seem to do my own shit. Oh and I just remember you also have work to do unless you don't want to be without a job in the next five seconds." Nicole had anger yet spits of annoyance in her voice. Her authority made me feel almost scared but yet warmed. It was a funny feeling. Nick didn't say anything but stared at Nicole. A small irritated smirk appeared on Nicole's face, "I take that as a no. Now run off back to your desk."

Nick looked at me and I almost felt embarrassed for him. I couldn't bear to look him straight in the eye. "See you around April."

I gave off my best fake small smile to him and with that he walked away from us almost in a dramatic fashion. Nicole rolled her eyes and mumbled something under her breath. She walked back into her office without closing the door. I walked into her her office, closing the door behind me.

"Here's your coffee." I said sweetly as I placed her steamy cup right in front of her.

"April I know this isn't my place to say this but I would highly suggest you don't get involved with Nick." Nicole said suddenly. By the look of it, she sounded sincere.

"Why do you say that?"

She sighs and run her hand through her bone straight hair, "Nick has a intensity to lead woman in his bed. He treats you like you mean the whole wide world to him and next thing you know your soak in your tears as he spits out menacing words. I don't want to see that happen to you. You deserve more than him."

"He isn't my type," I said. "Sure Nick is handsome and charming but I only knew him for five minutes and he's already trying to get me involved for him. Guys like him don't mix with me."

Nicole stands up from her chair and starts stuffing folders into her bag, "And what exactly is your type?"

"I don't know really. I haven't really had a significant other since I was eighteen. I'm twenty seven now. I don't even know the "type" I'm into. The right one will come eventually and I will know what exactly my type is." I suddenly just realized I gave out too much information to Nicole. My boss.

"Good. Your a very smart girl April and I would hate to see you waste your time on someone like Nick." She says with a smile. A genuine one. It made my heart race in ways that I just didn't understand properly.

"How do you know Nick does things like that? Did you fall for him?" I asked curiosity, getting the best of me.

She chuckled loudly, "Oh honey no, I'm into the same sex. Nick has no effect on me, but I have seen other girls that work her get lead into his sick twisted soul."
I don't know what drills my head more, the fact that Nick seems to mess with woman for a living or that Nicole is into girls.

"Why haven't you warned them like you did to me?"

She shrugs her shoulders, "It is already to late when I try."

I stared at her. Maybe there were two sides of Nicole. One was demanding and expected power. The other was something that I wasn't too sure of. Cracks of it would show but it still held a mystery.

Our eyes locked and I swear I felt something. Maybe it was just my mind messing with me but I just don't know. I wonder what she thought. I didn't understand why I wonder about her.

Nicole soon cleared her throat and closed her bag full of papers and such. "I am pretty sure you finished today's work yesterday, come with me to the factory."

"Factory?"

"The factory for Birdiebee. You know where they make all the lingerie."

A small blush spreaded across my cheeks at my undiscovered, "Ooh the factory."

"Yeah, so are you going to come with me?" She asked with a bit of hopeful in her. She held out her hand across her desk waiting for my interlock. Without a second thought, I intertwine our fingers together. He hand was slightly larger than my. My finger tips bearly touched the tops of her fingers.

She gave me a light squeezed and I happily gave one back, "Let's go." She said. We walked out of the place with our hands still locked and my mind racing with unsure thoughts.
