CHAPTER FIVE;

MISCALLS AND UNANSWERED TEXTS

April

....

It was another exhausting day at work. I rotated my neck side to side as I walk to the elevator. I tried to pretend I didn't notice Nick standing by the elevator entrance staring straight at me. I played with the hem of my Street Fighters band tee, trying everything for him not to come up and walk with me. I walked into the elevator and just as I predicted, Nick followed behind me.

His eyes lit up and just as he opened his mouth to say something, a familiar tattooed man walked into the elevator too.

A smile spread onto my face, "Hey Phil!" I said.

"Hi April!" He greets with a smile. He looks away from me to a obviously jealous Nick. "Hi Nick, what's up Nick."

"The sky." He says bitterly.

"That's a kinda old joke." Phil says scratching the side of his head.

He glares at Phil and then turns to me with a bright smile on his face. I felt a shiver go down my spine but not in a good way. "Funny running into you here April."

"Its a elevator dude, everyone uses it." Phil says smugly.

"Will you shut the h- it nice to see you again April." Nick says suddenly cutting himself off from saying whatever to Phil. A shuddersome feeling hit my chest almost making me lose my balance.

"You too Nick." I said as nicely as I can. For the rest of the ride down to the floor that contained the lounge room, Nick just talked about his job delivering mail around the building. He moaned and bitch about it being stressful and what not. Phil and I would make faces at each other because we both knew that if anyone had the harder job, it was him.

"Back at it again getting Nicole's coffee?" Nick says as he tried to attempt to lean against the wall and look cool, which in reality made him look like the world's biggest idiot.

"Yep." I answered trying to contrate on not spilling any of the hot liquid on my hand as I pour it into the cup.

He chuckles, "You really got to stop doing things for her."

"What do you mean?"

"She's a grown woman, she can do these things by herself."

"In case you haven't noticed Nick, I am her assistant meaning I do anything she asks me to." I said laughing at the last part trying to   relieve some tension.

"She's treating you like a slave. Nicole likes to use people, especially beautiful woman just like you." What he just said had me cringing. He makes zero sense. I don't think he's even aware of what he's saying.

"You make no sense what so ever." I commented as I place the lid on tight on the coffee cup.

"Look as your friend I'm just warning you, Nicole uses people."

"You should be the one to talk." Phil says as he picks up his hot tea cup.

Nick looked at him weird, "What did you say?"

"Nothing." Phil says as he takes a sip of his tea.

I place my small hand on Nicks arm, "Look I can handle myself but I do appreciate your concern." Before he can say anything else, I walk out of the lounge.

Just as the elevator doors were going to close, a hand stops them from doing so. "Yikes sorry about Nick back there."

I sigh, "Don't worry about it."

"Have you heard about him?" He asks curiously.

"Player looking for girl toys every week? Yeah Nicole basically told me."

"That's Nick for ya. A lying, selfish, sun of a gun."

"Well I am definitely not going to get involved with him. He's also very clingy."

"Its better if you don't. He enjoys the entertainment of hurting others. I normally don't say this about another person but Nick is a terrible person. Trust me when I say that."

"I do." Suddenly the elevator dinged signaling that we were on my floor. I said my goodbye and started heading off to Nicole's office. Before I can grab ahold of the door handle a blonde woman with her hair in different directions, her pink lipstick smudge, and her shirt too lose where I can see the top of her lace black bra, walks out almost bumping into me.

"Sorry." she mumbles while I just smiled calmly at her. I walked inside to find a neatly looking Nicole. Her black hair was neatly pulled up into a high ponytail and her black dress shirt was nicely smooth out. She phone started to ring but without hesitation she declines the call and place her phone down.

"I got your coffee." I said while placing it down.

Nicole groans and reaches out towards the steaming cup, "You don't how much of a life saver you are sweetheart." She days after she takes a sip, "I'm literally so stressed out."

"Long morning?"

"Oh you won't believe."

"Did you have a employ complain or something?" I said gesturing.

Nicole wipes her mouth with her index finger, "More like begs for her job, gets down on her knees, and offers me a act that I didn't feel comfortable doing."

I felt my stomach turn and my face turns ten shades darker of red. I fake cough and started to pretend to straighten her papers. "Oh really?"

"Yeah. I of course decline, I don't a advantage of someone just because their offering their body to me to seal their spot." Her phone than rang again and like before she declines the call. "I personally think thats the worse thing to do to a person. Expose their body for pleasure not for a act of love but a act for keeping something they dear a lot. If I'm going to have sex with someone, I'm only going to do it if it will mean something to me. If not then you'll see me with my legs closed."

I couldn't help but let out a soft giggle at the last part, "That's good. I'm glad you think that way. Did that girl get fired?"

She shook her head and again decline the incoming call, "I didn't fire her, I told her this will be the only time I'll give her a second chance. Barbie is a bright woman but she shouldn't fill her body with so much alcohol,   especially when at work."

I opened her mouth to say something but once again her phone rang. She groans and curses under her breath. She allows and places her phone by her ear. "What do you want? I'm not going to talk to you right now, stop calling!" Before she can even hear a response she quickly ends the call and places her phone down.

"Yikes, someone must really wants to talk to them." I said walking around the desk to get to a stressed Nicole who is resting her forehead in the palms of her hands. Without thinking I place my hands on her shoulders and began rubbing them smoothly. At first she tense up but soon relaxed in my hands.

She sighs and begins to speak, "You have no idea how much your helping me right now. With your hands on me maybe I'm in pure bliss." I couldn't help but clench my legs together and have the sensation of butterflies going up my stomach.

"Your okay now, just relax." I said softly to her. She leaned forward in her seat so I can get all of her back. My hands wonder around her back, messaging her. Her mouth was parted  and her eyes were shut closed. My hands reached the end if her lower back. My fingertips danced at the hem of her shirt. Dauntingly, I began to slowly move her shirt up. I looked at Nicole if she was going to tell me no but she didn't and rather urge me on. I slowly pulled up her shirt but soon jump in the sound of the noise of her phone as she was getting rapid number of texts.

We pulled apart quickly. Nicole grabbed her phone and opens it. Soon a flood of messages appear.

Nicole quickly shut off her phone not wanting to read anymore. "May I?" I ask wanting her phone. She hesitates on handing it over but soon does. I walk over to be cabinet Nicole has in the far corner in her office. I open it and find a clear container full of office supplies. I place the phone on the top, close the lid, and closed the door.

"For once I think I'll be okay without it." Nicole says jokingly.

"I'll make sure I'll remind you to get it before we leave."

Something caught my eye on her desk. It was a square shape box, like one of those boxes you put earrings in and give them to a friend for their birthday. It was rose gold and had a dark red ribbon on it. In black ink it read the words when someone says in French have a nice trip.

"Have a nice trip?" I asked confused.

Nicole quickly looked up and her eyes drifted towards the small box. A sight of panic came over her as I can tell. She cleared hee throat and shrugged her shoulders. She took the box from my hands and examined the box. "Its supposed to be a bar of soup from a trip a friend on mine went to. It must be expired though." She opened a drawer of her desk and dropped the box in. "Just a silly little box." She said resuring that it was nothing.

A part of me knew she was lying and that silly little box held secrets. A lot of them.
