Bell Daikokuten, a ten-year-old blader, creator of Dynamite System, the so-called Demon King, is happily skipping the halls with a bright big smile plaster on his face.

Why do you ask why he's happy?

Well, tomorrow is July 1, and what's special on that day?

It's his birthday!

Baby blue eyes shine in delight, he couldn't contain the excitement he feels, holding tightly the numerous invitation cards in his hands that he will give to his friends.

He believes his birthday tomorrow will be special. Not just because his grandpa will prepare a grand birthday party celebration but because he will have his friends.

All this time, he always celebrate his birthday only with his grandpa because he never had friends before, courtesy of him being homeschooled and never going out.

He doesn't mind celebrating only with his grandpa because he loves his grandpa truly.

But the thought of having friends on his birthday makes him wonder what it feels like.

And that's why he's excited to find it out!

He heard all of his friends are practicing in the Bey Gym and that's where he's going

A happy small squeal escape from his mouth in excitement the moment he saw the door. Different familiar voices that belong to his friends can be heard

He's about to touch the doorknob when a sentence makes him freeze in shock.

"Bell is annoying and irritating, right guys?" A voice filled with disgust produce behind the door

(What?)

Baby blue eyes widen in surprise and hurt, his hands who are holding the doorknob are uncontrollably shaking, and something inside his chest is stirred in painful emotion.

It took him a moment before he register what he just heard, and when he did, his face went pale when he realized the voice belongs to Ilya

Why Ilya? Why would she say something like that? Does she despise him? He thought they were on good terms

"Agree, the only thing good about him is when he made the Dynamite System, that's all. I don't like his personality either" a deep voice boom

The red-haired mohawk boy now recognized what is the painful emotion stirring inside him. It was his heart shattered into million pieces and a knife of betrayal stabbing behind him

It hurts. His body feels like it's draining in energy while all he can do is listen to what just Rashad said

His rival just insults him. He thought he had already changed and see him as a friend now. So that was all an illusion huh?

"He always acts like he's the best when all he did is miraculously win against the legends"  the usual sweet voice that turns into poisonous candy reveal.

The imaginary knife that is stabbed from his back seems to dig deeper blood fall over. The more it goes deeper, the more it hurts especially when the voice belongs to Basara.

This is the first time he heard something awful coming from one of his first friends who considered him his close friend but it seems that was not the case. The words become hurtful when it comes from your close friend. Does all this time Basara think of him this way?

"Yeah, and I hate his stupid pranks too. He always whines like a child and acts like a brat" the familiar voice he always hears every day that brings him joy now gives him pain

And that was the last blow that make Bell's world break apart when he hear Ranzo this time. Painful tears flow down his cheek without his content. He remembers all the times he spent time with him.

He thought he considered him as his amigo. He thought he's gonna defend him but instead, he betrayed him too. He thought he doesn't mind his pranks. Was all those times a lie to deceive him?

It hurts. The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies, instead, it came from the people who you think you can depend on.

Why are all these things happening? Is he a bad child? Did he make a lot of mistakes?

Then something unexpected happens that makes him stray from reality.

A pair of warm and soft hands cover his ears to prevent him from hearing awful things. He looks up to see an unexpected person behind him.

Betrayed baby blue eyes meet sympathetic hazel brown eyes.

Another painful tear fell, not because of sadness but because of relief that there is still someone who got his back.

Bell hugs Valt like he's the only anchor he has in support, the bluenette gently rubs his back to comfort him.

The bluenette bends down slowly to lift the smaller boy slowly and the redness doesn't mind him as he feels safe in his warm embrace.

And they walk away from the mess and toxicity of the place.

"Valt? Is it real that I'm annoying? Do you feel the same way?"

The older bluenette was taken aback, not by the question, but when he noticed how broken Bell's voice is.

Valt recovered from the shock and look down in sadness at the sight of Bell leaning against his chest.

"Of course not. There are nothing dull moments when I'm with you and that's why I like hanging out with you" Valt said in gently and comfortingly.

Bell doesn't sense any hints of a lie on him. But for some unknown reason, he can't feel anything about it. He's happy at the comfort he received but he couldn't bring himself to smile.

"Do you like me only because of the Dynamite System I made?" He asks again and Valt wince when hearing again his broken voice again

"No, as I said before, I always enjoy being with you. I like you just the way you are because you are my friend." Valt answered sincerely and softly and Bell almost feels glad that there is someone who consider him a friend.

"Does that mean you don't mind when I prank you?" He adds the following questions and Valt narrows his eyes when he senses the hesitant in his voice

Valt shakes his head "Yeah, I found it hilarious and fun" he adds a bright smile hoping to cheer up the mood

Bell remember all the time he prank him but all he did is smile and laugh like he doesn't mind it. Those emotions look real so he doesn't think he's faking it.

"Do you hate me when I beat you?" He asks once again and Valt notices how it sounds so emotionless that gives him a dread feeling on his stomach

"Of course not. It makes me happy. I love challenges you see. You are one of my great rivals in blading" Valt reassures and compliments him that giving him comfort

Valt notices a small glint of joy in his baby blue eyes despite his eyes looking so dull.

"If you feel that way to me... then why they didn't feel the same?"

Valt's heart almost breaks at his question. His hazel brown eyes glint sadly at him

"I'm sorry Bell but not all people can like you. That's how the world works." Valt spoke and he hope it doesn't sound harsh

Bell nod and speak after a minute

"Have you ever felt betrayed before?"

His question almost makes his composure falter but quickly restores it.

Valt nod sadly remembering all those awful memories

"Yes, I do. It hurts like a knife was a stab in your heart but what makes it hurt is that betrayal came from the people you think you can trust" He sadly explain

"Did you forgive them?" Bell asks

Valt nodded again "Yes I do, I've always liked that. I forgive people easily because I don't want any hatred to stay in my heart. I forgive because I want peace or because that person deserves forgiveness"

Bell listens intently and Valt sigh

"But you and I are different. It's your choice if you want to forgive them or not. I will respect your decision." The bluenette assures the little demon lord

"Valt-senpai"

A stroke of delight came across the bluenette's heart when he heard that. He always feels giddy whenever kids call him that.

This is the first time Bell calls him that and he can feel the respect coming from his title

"Yes?"

"Thank you for everything," Bell said while looking up to him with a weak smile but it's more than enough

Valt smiled at him full of fondness "Every time, Bell"

When Valt reaches Bell's home, the poor boy is already asleep due to tiredness.

Explaining all the things that happen to Bell's Granpa, Jinemon Daikokuten, almost had a  heart attack.

Valt had to stay a little to comfort and watch out for him.

"Thank you for looking after my grandson" Jinemon's voice is almost heartbreaking like Bell, as he shakes Valt's hand in gratefulness

"Anytime" Valt smiled in assurance. His eyes  look over the decorations around the mansion that almost make his heart sink

Tomorrow is Bell's birthday, but the betrayal is the gift he received.

"I'm disappointed to all of you," Valt said sharply and coldly making four people shock

The usual cheery voice that belongs to the wonder boy is now replaced with a disheartened and upset voice just to make it worse

"How could you guys do this to Bell" Valt's eyes narrow in the hint of anger

The older bluenette explain what happened and they were surprised someone is eavesdropping on them

"We're sorry," They said in the chorus but Valt doesn't look happy

"Don't tell me that, tell that to Bell" Valt said almost sounding like a hiss

He's not usually getting this work up but the recent events don't help it.

Hazel brown eyes scan them, three people once came from BC Sol and one is a relative of his friend just to make it worse.

"I had high hopes for all of you but those feelings now disappear." Valt spat harshly making them sadden

"Do you think Bell will forgive us?" Basara asks hesitantly

"I don't know, ask him" the bluenette retorted savagely making the albino look down in shame

Valt sigh to calm down, he's the senpai and the oldest here so he should be a good role model.

Besides, he spots the regrets coloring their faces. He sighs and faces them again.

"Don't ever get the idea that he will trust all of you again, even if he does, things will not be the same anymore. If you want to be forgiven, work hard out for it but I've warned all of you, it won't be easy"

Bell's birthday finally come.

You could say this is different from all birthdays he ever had

It was sad and memorable at the same time.

Bell surprisingly received a greeting from Shu, Free, and Lui through email.

He doesn't know how they know it but it doesn't matter how. It was only a greeting but he's already happy about that

Receiving greetings from unexpected people is the best feeling

"Happy Birthday Bell!" Valt and his grandfather greet him with a confetti

"Thank you!" Bell smile in delight, he will forget temporarily all the things that happen yesterday because today is a special day

Valt, bring beautiful and delicious cake coming from the Aoi Family.

"And this is my gift!" Valt happily hand him a blue box tied with a yellow ribbon

Bell excitedly opens his gift and his eyes widen in surprise

Inside the box is a pink and black bracelet with a Belial logo and a modified V gear

"Wow" Bell's eyes smile happily "Thank you, Valt senpai!"

Valt grin, he's glad he likes it.

The bluenette takes the bracelet and put it on his right arm

"This is a charm bracelet, you see when I was younger, my mom give me the bracelet too that give me strength and courage whenever I battle" Valt explain and show him the hidden blue and yellow bracelet with a Valkyrie logo

Baby blue eyes shine on what he just heard, he will cherish this bracelet.

He then takes the modified V gear and put it at the tip of Dangerous Belial.

Bell observes the gear, it appears it was designed to give the bey speed power the more it spins.

The red mohawk-haired boy smile and show Dangerous Belial who shines in happiness "Belial upgraded because of you"

Valt chuckled at his enthusiasm, he almost fears it will disappear "Glad you like it"

"Ohh, looks like we had visitors hehee," Jinemon said in delight making Bell confuse

Bell turns around to see a tall person with soft blue eyes and pink hair with a bang that covers his right eye that has blue tips in the end.

Phenomeno Payne

"Happy birthday shorty" Payne greets him jokingly

Bell snorted at him "Oh come on dude, today is my birthday so be nice to me" He jokingly said and both of them laugh enthusiastically

But at the corner of his eyes, he spots another person hiding behind Payne.

A young girl with bright blue eyes and orange hair in a messy bun with a pink flower clip.

It was Hannah Suiryo

"Hey come out Hannah, I'm waiting for you," Bell said nicely which make the orange-haired girl surprised.

Bell has no reason to be angry at her just because he is Basara's younger sister besides he never said meany things behind his back

All she did is say little meany things in front of him in exasperation and jokingly but Bell can feel the fondness the little girl gives to him.

Hannah smile brightly and greet him "Happy Birthday Bell!"

And they had so much fun that day

Bell realizes he doesn't need a lot of people to celebrate his birthday, he only needs those people who truly care for him.

At the end of the day, the four traitors ask Bell for forgiveness.

And surprisingly Bell forgive them

But like what Valt warned them, he doesn't trust them anymore

Bell still battle them with the same enthusiasm but only towards the battle, not from them

The four are sad but they already accept their mistakes.

Bell greet them and show no trace of hatred towards them but never hangs out with them anymore.

The four tried their best to be forgiven but Bell always avoid them

And that's how their camaraderie ends

At least the four learn their lessons.

A long time had passed, and Bell starts to warm up to them like the old days

The four swear they will never break his trust again.
