My Child's Eyes

I look into my child's eyes

And to my surprise

I see

The love I've always wanted

Shining back at me.

I look into my child's eyes

And suddenly I realize

I have

A total trust I have not earned

Perhaps, that's a lesson to be learned.

I look into my child's eyes

And suddenly I feel wise

As they look to me to guide

To fill

Them up with pride

I look into my child's eyes

And watch memories made

Moments money cannot buy

And pray they will not fade

I see all that I truly prize

In them, myself I recognize

Although they be but pint-sized

And I refuse to compromise

Too precious they've become

I am completely undone
