Poetry

Libby had taken Molly to a lake to show her something.

She wanted her to see some of the poetry she had written. It was a hobby of hers, to write poetry about random things.

Molly was reading it intently, smiling and praising it, "These are super good Libby!"

"Thanks Molly, I didn't think they were that good!" Libby said shyly, rubbing the back of her neck.

"Yeah! I really like them! I didn't know you were so good at it!" Molly continued to gush over her writing.

Libby was blushing a bit, glad Molly was enjoying it, when suddenly a loose dog ran up to her, and Molly, well, being Molly, forgot everything and dropped the poetry book in the lake, and turned all her attention to the dog. Libby panicked, and rolled her pants legs up, and fished it out, but all the pages were soaked through, and all the writing was smeared.

Molly looked up from the dog and saw Libby breathing shakily. "Libby are you al-" Molly had started to ask when she was cut off.

"Leave me alone Molly." Libby said sternly.

That's when Molly saw what she was holding. Her heart sank, and she realized what she did.

She had just ruined Libby's poetry book to pet a dog. Guilt washed over her in waves, "Libby I-I'm so sorry-" she started

"I said leave me alone Molly!" Libby turned around suddenly, tears in her eyes, furious with the girl for so carelessly just ditching her book.

She turned around again, and started to walk home, leaving Molly alone.

~~The Next Day~~

Molly was sure Libby had forgiven her.

"I'm sure she's over it Scratch! I didn't mean to!" Molly told the ghost

"Molly you destroyed her poetry. You know how much she loved it." Scratch said sternly

"Yeah...but, I'll apologize!"Molly said enthusiastically, already heading toward the door, and walking to school.

"She never learns." Scratch sighed, following her out.

At school, Molly spotted Libby at her desk, looking as though she was back to normal.

"Hi Libby!" Molly said happily, but Libby didn't respond. "Libby?"

All Libby did was pick up her stuff and move to another desk. Molly felt as though she had been stabbed. She felt really bad, and was really upset for the rest of the day.

At lunch, she tried to sit next to Libby, only for her to move.

After school she ran up to her and asked her, "Why are you ignoring me?" sadly.

"I said leave me alone Molly! What don't you understand about that? You destroyed my poetry. I'm not gonna get over it immediately okay?" Libby snapped, taking Molly by surprise, "and it's all because you can't learn to pay attention to one thing for more than 10 minutes! Because you apparently can't handle that. And because of your incapability to focus on one thing. One thing, Molly."

Molly felt her eyes sting with tears, and saw Libby didn't have a single ounce of regret or sympathy on her face.

It hit Molly in the gut, "She meant it.

She ran home, trying hard not to cry, thinking she's lost yet another friend, which made her break down as soon as she got up to her room.

She felt Scratch hug her, but she was tuning everything out, her fear of abandonment returning, not wanting to lose Libby. Her best friend, and her crush.

~~Day Two~~

Libby was surprised when Molly made no effort to try to talk to her. Molly tried to sit next to her, but never spoke. But Libby was still mad at her for what she did, so every time, she moved away.

Libby felt bad about when she snapped at Molly, but she meant it. Or at least, that was what she told herself. Deep down, she knew it wasn't true. She just got excited, it wasn't on purpose.

She'd have to apologize soon.

The next five days were the same. Molly trying to talk to Libby, but Libby ignoring her, or moving away from her.

Molly never showed it, but she was scared. Scared she'd lose Libby. She couldn't really help but be miserable the whole day until one day, it was too much for her.

After school, Libby was starting to walk home from school, wanting to say sorry to Molly for how she treated her. She saw Molly out of the corner of her eye, huddling near a corner of the school in the shade. Concern and guilt hit her hard, and she ran over to Molly, to see that she was crying.

"Hey! Hey hey hey! Molly! Why're you crying?!" Libby asked, clearly concerned for her.

"I thought you were ignoring me." Molly stated plainly.

Suddenly, it hit her. Molly was upset because she was ignoring her.

Libby pulled the crying girl to her, hugging her tightly, and comforting her, "I'm so sorry Molly, I way overreacted. It was just poetry, and I didn't mean any of the things I said, I was just mad. I promise I forgive you please don't cry."

Molly was sobbing now, and let it out, "I'm sorry Libby, I know I get distracted and I ruined your journal and then when you ignored me I got so scared because I love you so much and I just didn't want to lose you."

Libby had to process what she just heard, and blushed, "You- what?" she asked, flustered.

Molly panicked, realizing what she had said, "U-uhm, I-I mean, I don't-,"

She was cut off by a pair of lips on hers. Her eyes widened as she realized that, Libby was kissing her!

Molly smiled happily, and Libby pulled away, "S-Sorry! I wasn't thinking!" she said, her face flushed.

Molly just wrapped her arms around her neck, and pulled her back down, this time, Libby was the one who was shocked, but just melted into it, and pulled away after a few seconds. She hugged Molly tightly and whispered,

 "I love you too."
