61: The Morning After
"Alright, today is the day, Bum. We've got to go get that cabin." Sangwoo spoke to Bum as they shared breakfast together. You were still fast asleep from the excitement the evening before. "I got all the stuff we'll need. Respirators, haz-mat suits, knifes, hammers, what have you. There's probably going to be three or four people there in full holiday cheer. Too bad for them that it won't be Santa dropping in." Sangwoo laughed at himself while Bum shivered. He was more than happy to get some time alone with Sangwoo, but he still wasn't fond of murdering a whole family. It wasn't very characteristic of Sangwoo either.
Sangwoo on the other hand, was trying to make a grand spectacle for you. A marvelous romantic gesture. But the hardest part would be today. Keeping it a secret from you.
The soft plopping of feet then came from the second floor. You yawned and stretched, wearing your favorite Totoro onesie once again.
"Merry Christmas Eve, sleepy head." Sangwoo greeted you as he walked to the bottom of the stairs.
"Good morning," You plodded down the steps and into Sangwoo's open arms as he lifted you up. "My king." You kissed his cheek as he blushed just slightly.
He carried you over to the table and set you down on top of it.
"What's with the pajamas, Gi-ae?" He asked you as he got a plate of pancakes ready for you.
"I thought maybe because it was Christmas Eve, I could stay in them until after breakfast." You hopped down from the table carefully and took a seat at the table across from Bum. "Happy Christmas Eve, Bum."
"Merry Christmas Eve, Gi-ae." Bum responded back automatically. It had seemed that you both had come to something of a cease-fire. And just in time too, seeing as you were about to spend a lot of time in the new cabin together.
"So, Gi-ae. I've got some stuff I've got to take care of, but I've gotten you a special gift. Will you be a good girl and let me keep it a secret for now?" Sangwoo tested the waters. He knew that in general, you enjoyed surprises. But at the same time, he had never done something like this. And you had both had a lot of ups and downs in this last year or so.
"Mmm." You thought about if you were in the mood or not. "Yeah, okay. I'll be good."
Sangwoo smiled back at you. That part was over for now.
"Alright, well all of us are going to take a drive up to the mountains. We'll drop you off at a cafe. I've found the perfect one. Then we'll pick you up and give you your present. Does that sound okay?"
This made the warning bells go off in your head.
"A-Alone? I don't know. I don't think I like that..." You stumbled, not a huge fan of the plan suddenly.
"Well maybe this will comfort you then; it's a puppy cafe."
Your eyes shined and your lips curled upwards.
"Alright, I guess I'll give it a try."
I'm so going to get a puppy for Christmas. You thought deviously.
