53: What Happened

"Hello? I-I-Is this the p-p-police?"

"What is your emergency, ma'am."

"M-my name is Goo Gi-ae. I've been in this lady's apartment for a very very long time. I... She... There's been an accident and she's d-d-d-d-dead" You started up the tears, knowing the role you needed to play. "Can someone c-c-come get me?"

"Ma'am what is your address?"

You gave them the address and were assured that someone would be there soon. But it wasn't just a single police car. It was an entire convoy plus a slew of news vehicles.

Oh God, where is Sang when I need him? You groaned to yourself as you worked yourself up further and further.

It seemed like it suddenly the Earth came to a standstill as everything went silent for just a moment. Then the world sprung to life. The police busted down most of the doors of the complex, while you patiently waited for them to find both you and the body. It had been incredibly easy to dispatch the old lady. One knife to the neck was all it took. There was no need to aim or really exert a lot of energy when she barged into your room unannounced to complain about something or another.

"Ma'am? Ma'am! Gi-ae? Tell us where you are!"

"In here! Top floor, end of the hall!" You yelled out back towards who you assumed would be the police.

What they saw inside shocked them. And rightfully so, since you had set it up to be as shocking as possible. The windows were covered with garbage bags. The apartment was as disgusting as when you first entered it. There was trash overflowing the bins. It looked like you lived there for years. Which was indeed the story.

"Come with us, Gi-ae. You're okay now, come with us." The police officers stepped over the bleeding body to get to you.

"I-I hurt her. I'm so sorry, I didn't want to hurt her."

"It's okay, Gi-ae. Just come with us." They rushed you out of the complex into what was a constant barrage of flashes from the paparazzi.

"Are you really Goo Gi-ae?"

"How long have you been here?"

"Did you kill your captor in self-defense?"

The questions came at you from all directions but you were quickly shoved into a police car and driven to the station.

The trip from the car to inside the station was just as eventful as from the house to the car. This was going to be a huge story. "Lost girl from double homicide found in home of local landlady".

Once you were situated in a private room with a blanket and some water, a detective came in.

"Hi, Gi-ae. I'm the chief detective here. I'd just like to ask you a few questions."

"O-Okay."

This went on for hours. Every single detail was questions. You realized why: not everything fell nicely into place. After all, you had only really been gone for a week and a half. That must have said something about how much you hated working.

Eventually though, with no other witnesses coming forward, the detective had to let you go. The problem was where you could go. There wasn't anyone you could ask. That was, except for Sangwoo.

"Do you remember anyone from before you were... taken?" The detective asked you gently.

"My best friend Sangwoo... he was the only person I really knew. Does he still live here? Probably not... He was always so popular..."

"Sangwoo? Oh Sangwoo? He was just in here. Yeah, he still lives here. Do you want his number to call him?"

"I guess it's worth a try..."

As you both walked to phone, the detective tried to talk to you about Sangwoo.

"I don't know if this will change your opinion but I thought you should know that apparently that Sangwoo is gay. He's got a boyfriend and everything. So if you go there, you'll have to deal with both of them."

"That's okay. He's probably the same guy still. And anyone that Sangwoo loves is probably a good person."

"Alright, well here you go." The detective handed you the phone and dialed the number.

And this is where you were now. Calling Sangwoo and asking for his help.
