27: Happy Birthday~1
"Gi-ae! We're home!" Sangwoo called out. He kept his fingers crossed that things would magically be back to normal. His first indication that they weren't, was the slow steps he heard as you hesitantly came downstairs. "Hide this behind your back, quickly Bum."
Of course the cake was for her. No wonder Sangwoo wanted it so bad he would challenge that couple to a game. It was just his luck that it was a game of strength. Bum thought bitterly to himself. He had believed that the cake was for him. Not that there was any reason other than his first kill, but he felt that perhaps that did deserve a cake.
Sangwoo on the other hand, had finally come up with a plan. He knew exactly how to get you back. He didn't think it would get you back to how you were sexually, but he had a pretty good idea about how to instill the undying devotion you had had for him. And it started with this.
You stood on the second to last step, eye to eye with Sangwoo. As you tried to take another step down, you were enveloped in a hug.
"I missed you, Gi-ae. Happy Birthday, my love." He rested his forehead against yours and wrapped his arms chastely around your waist.
Your facade cracked just a little. He remembered every year, but every year you were surprised. You never celebrated Sangwoo's birthday. He didn't seem like a birthday type of guy.
"You remembered." You whispered, with a ghost of a smile on your face. Truthfully, you had missed Sangwoo while he was gone, even though it wasn't more than a day or two.
"I got you presents." He stated nonchalantly, as he stepped out of your way.
Bum presented the cake and your hand flew to your mouth. Sangwoo never bought cake. Normally you received some clothing item and the dinner of your choice.
"Oh... you shouldn't have!" You looked over to Sangwoo and analyzed him deeper. He looked good today. Really good. He had on a large grey hoodie and a pair of light ripped jeans.
"And let me tell you the story of how I got the cake. You'll like it, I think."
Your mood was considerable heightened now. Bum watched, a little bit disgusted, at how a simple cake had partially erased the terrible thing Sangwoo had done to you. Why would you forgive him so easily? Why wouldn't you hold out until Sangwoo gave you anything and everything? It was just stupid. You were stupid. That had to be the answer. You must have been emotionally and socially stunted.
But that wasn't it. Sangwoo was all that you had, and honestly, you knew that he had wronged you. But you accepted it. No one else would promise to take care of you like he had. No one would let you simply exist like he did. So as much as you were molded by him, you had molded him. Sangwoo was the one who was obsessed with you. He had an undying devotion to you. Not the other way around. You knew that he would cave. You knew that he would pull himself together. What you didn't know was that it would only take him a few days. Now was the time to put your plan into action. What Bum didn't know was that you had been holding out on him. For years, you had been holding out on him. And now, he was willing to give you absolutely anything, in order for you to simply like him again.
You weren't stupid. You weren't stunted. You were a genius. A genius who had even a serial killer bending to your every whim. And you simply weren't going to let anyone know that. And you especially wouldn't let some jealous, bone-thin, psychotic, half-wit like Yoon Bum get in the way of what you wanted.
