Sharanya's Point of View
"Hello both of you! I am Mr. Krish Khanna, the person whom you are looking for."
°°°°°°°°°°°°°
I was dumbfounded by his sudden appearance in front of us. I was mesmerising by the beauty that he was spreading; words were not coming from my mouth. I got freezed by his presence like a definte fool.
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Khanna. I am Vyom Bedi and she is my co-worker, Sharanya Bisht. We are here to talk about the interview issues with you." Vyom said managing my sudden dumbfounded expression, shaking his hand with Mr. Khanna.
"Yes, Mr. Gupta had spoken to me about it, this morning. So, let the meeting begin. Please, come to my office." Saying it he opened his office room, putting out the key from the right pocket of his trousers.
With a jolt he unlocked the door and went inside it. I was still standing there, looking at the open office room in front of me. Vyom was about to enter the room; but stopped, looking at me. He came near me.
"What are you doing, Sharanya? Come into the room, fast!" Vyom hissed lowly, being surprised by my sudden reaction.
Can't blame him. I never reacted like this in front of him, especially during our duty hours!
"Uh-hmm.. yeah.." I murmured coming back from the trance. His eyebrows crocked on his forehead in confusion.
Vyom walked inside the room with a confused expression on his face. I followed him after recovering my sudden shock.
Damn, I wasn't expecting him to be model-like! I have thought that he is boring and messy, like any other nerds. But, he is so damn attractive....
I was looking at his direction while he was keeping his books on the bookshelf just in front of the study table he had. Vyom was behind him, waiting for him to get freed from his work that he was doing. I was standing near the doorframe.
"So, should we start?" With his husky voice he began to talk.
"Yes, sure. So, I hope that you have already known our reason of arrival, here at this time. Will you agree with it?" Vyom said looking at him, hoping for this to end quickly. I could sense it in his eyes.
"Yes, I knew it. But, as I have said before, my answer is not going to change. Sorry, Mr. Bedi!" He replied with a smile.
"But Mr. Khanna, it can make your books-selling more profitable..your.." Vyom's voice was cut by him.
"I don't want to!" His lips curled into a smirk, with a hind of slight mockery.
Am I judging him wrong? Or.. is he actually mocking us?
My face frowned looking at him. Vyom was finding difficulties to continue this conversation further. I came near him, looking at him with my usual confidence. His dark brown eyes had shifted towards me. He was waiting for my response; as I assumed from his focal expression.
"But Mr. Khanna, think about it more carefully. You will gain more fame and popularity from this! You will rule the young hearts!" I was trying to make my statement more profitable to him, with a smile. But, failed miserably.
He started chuckling hearing my words.
"That's my point, Ms. Bisht! I don't want more popularity. I am better here, like this." He said with that smug smile again.
"But, Mr. Khanna, it will hugely benefit you! Your reputation and number of selling books will be increased over night! Your reputation..." I was cut by his husky voice this time.
"Again same sentence Ms. Bisht! I have told you already what I want. Why are you wasting your time here? Please don't let this discuss drag further." His voice caught a little bit of annoyance.
But why man!?
"But.." I was about to say something when Vyom grabbed my left hand with his right hand and signalled me to stop right there. I stopped myself for saying anything more.
"Okay, Mr. Khanna. As you wish! But if you ever change your mind please call us. It's my...", he took out a card from his money bag and handed over on his table. Mr. Khanna took the card in his right hand from the table.
I got confused by his action.
What's with you suddenly, Vyom?
"...business card." He completed his sentence; whereas, I followed his action and from my purse I took out my card and kept it on the table. He looked from my direction to my card and nodded his head slightly.
"We should take our leave. Have a good day, Mr. Khanna!" Vyom said with his professional smile. I nodded my head with an agreement with Vyom.
"Thank you. Good day!" Mr. Khanna said; a subtle smile was visible on his face.
Turning our heads we exited from the room leaving Mr. Khanna with his books which he had started to read.
Without wasting further moment we began to walk back to the exit of this institution. Vyom was silent, thoughtfully looking at the front. It was 12:30 of afternoon. I was eying the surrounding thinking about the encounter we had today.
What a strange personality he has!
°°°°°°°°°°°°
"But, why did you stop me?" I couldn't hold my annoyance of the morning, anymore.
Sitting on the chair of the fast food store I said to Vyom who was sitting on the front chair of my one, holding his chin with his left hand; whereas, his right hand was occupied with the phone. I was sitting beside Shivani who was looking at me with a smug smile of amusement on her face.
"Sharanya, this guy was already determined on his decision. It was impossible to convince him that time." Vyom said looking on his phone screen.
"And I am afraid...", he lifted his face from the phone to my direction.
"...that he will even get convince for it! Should I resign this job?" Completing his sentence he looked at Shivani, who was looking at him with a worried face.
"Vyom, don't be upset for it! Everything will be fine." Shivani tried to assure him. He left out a deep sigh.
"Why do you think like that, Vyom? It will be fine. Just need more pressure to convince him. We can do it! Leave me to it. I will come up with some idea!" I said smilingly looking at him, knowing his nervous nature. He didn't look convinced; but didn't say anything further.
"I am taking for the final order now. So, three plates of vegetable noodles and two plates of fried chicken, that's all!" Vyom asked while getting up from his plastic white coloured chair.
"Yup! Add one soft drink, 'Sprite'." I said smilingly. Vyom nodded his head before heading towards the main counter of the shop.
We were at our favourite 'Fast-Food' shop, at the opposite side of our college. After exiting from the university at morning we went straight to the office. Our head was not there; out for news site. We were asked to come tomorrow. As it was our first day, they gave us a little bit relaxation. But, we were stucked for some formalities of our transfer and we had to apply for our personal desks. It took almost 4 hours to complete the whole procedure and we left our office at 5 o'clock of evening. Shivani was waiting for us to complete our work and exited from the office with us.
It was used to be our favourite hide out spot after a long day of college. Vyom, Shivani and I used to hang out together here. With other friends, Vyom and I always used to go to other shops, no here.
So, technically it's our place!
"So, how are you now?" Shivani asked turning her head from Vyom's direction to me.
"It was getting better after the first week of my discharge from the hospital. Nowadays, I have to hydrate my body all the time." I said smiling subtlety looking at her nodding face.
"Yup, I got scared when you had fainted in front of us, at that club!" She said; her eyes were remembering that night, as I was assuming from her expression.
We went to a club after completing our duties from the office, that day. I was dancing with Shivani and Vyom; just when my head started spinning and next moment darkness consumed my eyesight. I discovered myself at hospital room, General ward, surrounded by Sudeshna, Shivani, Vyom and Mithali. I was out for 12 hours. Doctor declared severe dehydration in my body and I had to take two days off from my work. Though I got discharge on that day.
A memorable incident indeed!
"That time, because of lack of rest and lack of water intake during our crime side reporting, I got sick. But now, I am completely out of it and doing well. But, I am not happy!" I said frowning my face looking at the front road.
The people were roaming around the place, students were gossiping among themselves after exiting from the college campus.
"Don't worry, Sharanya! You will get your favourite field soon. Just complete this assignment as soon as possible." Shivani said smilingly, putting her left hand on my right shoulder.
"Yeah. As if! This guy is not easy job, Shivani! You know what Shivani, I don't understand his thought process at all. I felt kind of mockery when he was talking to us." I said making a face remembering that guy.
Even though you are handsome, Mr. Krish Khanna!
"Why? I don't think so. I mean; not everyone like fame. I have seen many people like him. So, just be persistent and try to convince him for the bright side of it." Shivani finished her talk and looked at Vyom who came back with a bottle of Sprite.
Handing over it to me he went outside with his phone, talking to his mother.
"So, now, are they okay with your relationship?" I asked Shivani who was smiling at me thoughtfully. I opened up the bottle and began to drink it.
"Yup! Madhavi Aunty is happier than before and Rajan Uncle is always with me, as you know!" Shivani was smiling brightly. I smiled at her remembering the hard days of their relationship.
They have gone through so much for their age-gap. Even still now suffering because of some stereotype people. But, now it is lesser than before!
"What about you Sharanya? Have you still upto casual relationships?" Shivani asked smiling mischievously, knowing my answer very well.
"You know me, Shivani! Me and serious relationship, not a chance! I am better in casual ones. And technically, most of the men go for relationship just for sex only! So, it's nothing new in any serious relationship, Shivani!" I said making a casual face with it. Shivani smiled mysteriously.
"What?" I got confused with her sudden expression.
"Nothing, just thinking what will happen when you will fall in love with someone. It will be interesting to see you like a love-struck girl!" She said chuckled lightly.
"No, please...." I said with my strained face.
"Okay, okay." She said controlling her laughter with her left hand.
Meanwhile, Vyom entered into the shop coming towards our spot. We were sitting beside the window side, a little bit inside of the shop.
"Hey girls What's up?" Vyom said while sitting on his chair.
"Nothing just girl's-talk. What's about you?" Shivani said fully focused on him now.
"Nothing, just Mom invited you both for a dinner this Sunday. You don't have shift on that day, right?" Vyom asked; his eyes were on Shivani.
"Nope, I don't. I am completely fine with it." Shivani said smilingly looking at Vyom, who was smiling brightly at her. Their eyes were filled with love, for each other.
I eyed them from one to another, smiling subtly. I was thinking about the dinner invitation.
I can't go there. I have to deny it; but later!
After a while, the waiter served us our food on the table and we began to place it according to our favour. Taking a bite and getting the beautiful essence from our long lost memories of this food we started the conversation about our Kalkata life.
"So, Sharanya, have you decided the name of the puppy?" Shivani asked taking a bite from her chicken.
"Not really, but, soon!" I said while eating my noodles.
"How is he doing, by the way?" Vyom asked taking a bite from his chicken, eating it with his noodles.
"Very well, fortunately! Grandma is happy and treating him like a king." I said with a chuckle, remembering their interaction from morning.
"It's nice!" Chuckling loudly Shivani said. Vyom and I joined her in it as well.
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
"So, don't want to eat anything, hunh?" Grandma's eyebrows lifted up making me chuckle lowly.
Sighing deeply she got up from the sofa while I was sitting, beside the laying puppy. He was watching the TV screen with his curious, dark eyes. I was in my comfort white pyjama, holding the phone in my left hand.
"I am bringing his food." Saying it she went out from the room leaving us on our spot.
I looked at him and started soaking his golden fur. He closed his eyes, enjoying it.
"I need to give you a name. But, what should I...humm." I was thinking about it. Just then grandma walked into the room with the dog-food.
"My king, are you enjoying our home, hmmm hmmm?"
"Yes! 'Raja'! What about it?" I exclaimed, suddenly making both of them jolt. They looked at me widening their eyes in shock.
"What?" Grandma said confusingly. The puppy got up from his lying position.
"No. 'Raja' is really clingy!" I dismissed the idea completely.
Sudeshna's 'Bhaghira' or 'Mougli' is better than My 'Raja'!
"What are you saying?" Grandma said while sitting on the floor pouring the food on the plate for the puppy. The puppy went near her jumping from the sofa, wagging his tail.
"Okay, then 'Samtart'! Isn't it better?" I asked excitedly.
"Are you finding his name? If yes, then I didn't find it nice" Grandma asked looking at me with a disapproving look.
Yes actually, It's not fitting either...
I pouted my lips and lowered my head, thinking about another name for him.
Suddenly, my brain cell jerked up and I shoot my head up, my lips were curled up into a wide smile.
It's the final and perfect!
Grandma looked at me with her worried face; puppy was looking at me as well with his confused eyes.
"What is this time?" Her eyeshadow crocked on her face making her expression confused and worried at the same time.
"Nawab! Yes, Nawab, perfect! NAWAB!" I shouted in excitement making both of them jumped on their place.
"Sharanya, stop shouting like that, out of blue!" Grandma said putting her both hands on her chest. The puppy was looking at my direction fearfully; he stopped eating his food.
"Grandma, I found it, 'Nawab'. The best name ever!" I said jumping of from the sofa to their place, on the floor. The puppy shifted a bit towards grandma before coming to me again.
"Okay, okay, I approved. Nawab, fine name for a handsome puppy like him!" Grandma smiled looking at him.
"Yes, Nawab! So, from now on your name is Nawab!" I smiled at him brightly; he began to wag his tail again.
He likes his name as well!
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
"So, are you coming directly to the office right?" Vyom asked from the other side of the phone.
"Yes, I shall do. See you there!" I said.
"Okay." Saying it he cut the call.
It was morning 7 and I was still on the bed looking at the documents I had collected from the office. A file which consisted each detail of the university. Turning the pages, I came to the contact details of the staffs and other faculties.
"It has to be here..." I murmured following the line of the name list.
"Got it!" Smilingly I took the page and scanned the details again.
'Principal of the University- Phone number- ××××××××76
'Mr. Krish Khanna- Professor, Physics department- Phone number- ××××××××69'
I saved both numbers on my phone and checked it twice before closing the file.
"I will convince you, Mr. Krish Khanna, no matter what. Just wait and watch!" I murmured lowly smirking at my victory; thinking about the plan I had formulated in my mind.
