Chapter Thirty Five: The Confrontation

Harry's expression turned into steel as his Master emerged from the smoking black darkness. He was as pale as before and his red slits, which served as his eyes were as dark as ever. However, when he caught sight of Harry, his slits widened.

"Now, now Master," Harry said. Four metallic walls formed around them, trapping Harry, Ginny and Voldemort in. Bellatrix, Lucius and Pettigrew were pushed to the side and Ginny's family to the other side. "The Cup," Harry shouted, discreetly signalling to the Weasleys. He heard shuffling of feet and Bellatrix's screams of horror. "is rightfully won by me as you would have wished, Master."

"Wished?" Voldemort spoke in a cold voice. "You betrayed me when I raised you, Harry Potter. How can I ever expect anything from you?"

"It was Ginny's and I's blood which brought you alive. If that were to work, it would be our sweat that would kill you, forever," Harry said, looking calmer than he felt. Voldemort laughed a mirthless laugh.

"You think I will get defeated by you little fools?" he asked in his high pitched voice.

"I don't think, Master," Harry replied. "I know. Diffindo!" His spell removed the ropes binding Ginny and she fell to the floor.

"You are on her side now, Potter?" Voldemort asked.

"I am," Harry replied truthfully.

"Avada Kedavra!" Harry was already expecting the spell and therefore jumped out of the way and Ginny got up to her feet. A sword materialized in her hands and she pointed it at him as he got up.

"Two a-against one. You are a dead s-snake Voldemort!" Ginny taunted.

Then, as he watched, she sent a well aimed jinx at Voldemort, simultaneously deflecting his sinister curses. With a swish of his wand, Harry sent a ball of fire at his master who conjured a waterfall which suspended from mid air and turned into vapours.

"What really has brought a sudden change in you, Potter?" Voldemort hissed.

"Love, Master," Harry replied as if it was the most obvious answer to that question. "And support. I never really got any support from you, now that I think of it."

"Truly, Harry! I thought I taught you better than that!" Harry knew that Voldemort was trying to side with him.

"You did. That's why I am what I am now. Thank you very much," Harry retorted back sarcastically.

"You don't understand you fool! With your power, we can rule the world together!"

"H-Harry no!" Ginny tried as Harry stopped firing curses. "N-no. You ca-can't listen to h-him!"

"Silence, you stupid girl! He can and he will! It is his choice!" Voldemort hissed threateningly as the ceasefire stopped momentarily. Harry was breathing heavily, his mind telling him to take on Voldemort's offer but his heart was telling otherwise. "Love is a waste of time, Harry and I'm sure you will realise it."

"N-no!"

Alternate shouts of Voldemort and Ginny were piercing through his ears like fire through wild grass.

"SHUT UP! JUST SHUT UP! Protego Diabolica!" A blue flame surrounded Harry as a dark aura enveloped him. Voldemort grinned evilly and Ginny gasped. "No one – can – harm – me."

"Good job, Harry, good job. All we need to do now is – Incarcerous!" Voldemort boomed and a rope conjured out of thin air wrapped Ginny; her sword fell down with a 'clunk' along with her wand. "Come Harry, we shall rule the world, together, use Dark magic and stay immortal."

At the word 'dark', Harry began to shake violently. "UGH!" He held his head and shouted, trying to snap out of Voldemort's tempting persuasion.

"N-no!" Ginny pleaded.

In a moment's time, the bluish flames around Harry dissipated; he fell to the ground on his knees. Ginny tried hard to reach him but she was bound rather tightly. Voldemort barely walked towards him; it seemed like he floated towards Harry. He placed a white bony hand on Harry's shoulder but Harry did not look up nor did the dark aura make any move to dissipate.

Ginny was breathing fast; she had to do something before Harry lost control. Squinting her dark brown eyes in the darkness, she saw the glint of the sword of Godric Gryffindor. A sudden inspiration striked her mind and she closed her eyes in concentration. A knife materialised from nothing and fell down, she acted by cutting the ropes binding her arms and slashing her hand in the process. She winced but summoned the sword to her, pushing back her pains. She chopped the ropes binding her feet and stood up with her wand in her hand and the sword pointing towards Voldemort's back.

"Harry, you can do it. We can do it together if you like. Control the world, torture the muggles, use unforgivables without the need of worrying about rules of the Ministry, get rid of the muggleborns. It is up to you, Harry.

"Think of how your mother, a mudblood abandoned you just for her to move on to the afterlife; think of your vile muggle relatives who never cared to even visit you once; think of how you could have enjoyed the thrill of killing several individuals. Think, Harry, think."

"NO!" Ginny interrupted Voldemort's persuasions. "Ha-Harry, no! Don't – don't li-listen to h-him!"

"You silly girl!" Voldemort pointed his wand at her. "One word and you are dead."

That seemed to work: Harry stood up with a fury otherwise unexplainable. He started firing curses and hexes as Voldemort put up an hasty shield. The Dark Lord had no other choice other than backing up from Harry.

Curse after curse, Harry felt the familiar sensation pass through his blood to the tip of his wand. The sensation of utter warmth and heady control which preceded murder flowed in a rush of agility in his veins and he looked at Ginny.

She was sending several hexes which were trying to break their way through the thick shield erected by Voldemort. Sensing his gaze, she nodded to no one in particular and sent stunners and reductors in quick succession at Voldemort.

Whilst Voldemort's concentration was on blocking the red spells, which had somehow broken his shield, Harry charged towards him, with red, fierce eyes and like a bull towards his ex-master. The ball of black energy swirled in his right hand, giving a frightening impression to even Ginny as she stopped her spell firing and looked at him.

Voldemort turned back to Harry in a frightened moment and in that split second, Harry swished the ball at him and ran forwards to avoid Voldemort's filthy ashes.

An ungodly scream was heard and he could make out the hiss which ended with Voldemort, "Lies!"

With a quick turn, he looked down at the ashes of his Master; now nothing more than sand which would get mixed with the other decaying matter. Before he could even process the fact that his mission was completed, his eyes unfocused and he fell to the ground, weak and vulnerable.

Bellatrix was enraged. The metal walls which formed right after her master defeated death obscured her vision. Before she could even catch a glimpse of his handsome face, she was dashed to the side.

The Weasleys had escaped, how, she did not know. It was her Young Master who had tightened the rope or was it her? Lucius Malfoy beside her was groaning and moaning unnecessarily, as if he was trampled by an herd of Trolls.

"Get up Lucius! Help me break the wall!" she urged as she got to her feet and pointed her trusty wand at the metallic walls. "Incendio!" Nothing happened. The fire she conjured dissipated into ashes by burning the air itself. She tried hard to listen in but all that she could make out was shouts of incantations. Growing frustrated, she tried the Fiendfyre curse but that too, inflicted not a single burn on the wall.

An ear-piercing scream was heard and she could not mistake whose it was: the Dark Lord's. At that moment she realised; they had been betrayed yet again by a small lad who they addressed as Young Master: Harry Potter.

Harry could feel Ginny's arms wrap around him as he clung unto her, for emotional as well as physical support, the former being the utmost necessity. That was when he felt different.

He felt as if he was floating, away and away to a land of no-worries and no-problems. "G-Gi-nny." His voice came out rather cracked and hoarse. Opening his eyes by just an infinitum, he saw her crying.

"H-Harry, no. You c-could have k-killed him with t-the s-spell. Wh-why did y-you use y-your power?" She was weak herself, having been tortured by the curse, yet she was holding him. Harry smiled weakly but he knew it would have looked like a grim frown.

"I w-wanted to ma-make sure the w-world yo-you will be liv-ing in wo-would be ab-absolutely safe," he stuttered, panting for air. His heart was beating in triple digits, somehow knowing that it would have to rest sooner rather than later.

"Y-you can't – leave m-me!" Ginny sobbed. Her tears fell on his cheeks and slid down, mixing with the dirt and the blood he had obtained because of the maze.

"Y-you will –" By this point, he was running out of breath and paling considerably. "m-move on. You don't –" Harry coughed and Ginny cried even more. "love me. Mo-move on, love."

"I-I can't! C-can't you s-see? I re-really and t-truly love y-you! I-it was j-just an – act!" Ginny reasoned. Harry felt a genuine smile play with his lips. His eyes were threatening to close: barely holding on and his heart was trying to get out of his ribcage and win a marathon by its beats.

"L-love y-you too, m'lady."

"Harry! HARRY!" The desperate scream resonated throughout the place of the silent dead and there was no hope left then.
