Chapter 10

As I stepped into the garage, I noticed that all the guys were here. Ryan, Evan, Ben, and James were all standing in the corner of the room discussing something. I couldn't hear them because I didn't have werewolf hearing like everyone else here. It didn't bother me that much though, you get used to it after a while.

I glanced around trying to see how this was going to go down. I saw that only the five of us were going. I would have been concerned that we didn't have enough protection, but it was us five. We could hold our own. Whoever messed with us would be sorry.

I didn't even worry about having to go to another pack's territory. If they needed our help then they wouldn't be good fighters. That gave us the advantage if they chose to start a fight with us.

Usually, packs would have multiple fighters coming with the alpha if he left the pack grounds since they didn't want the alpha to be killed while visiting another pack. Our pack didn't have to worry though because Ryan was a strong Alpha. Unlike weak packs, he didn't depend on his pack members to fight for him.

Glancing around the second time, I also noticed that they had brought out the black SUV with bullet proof glass. I shook my head, of course, they had to make us look like the fucking FBI. Looking at them again, I noticed they all had on dark sunglasses. I laughed they looked like pieces of shit, but I grabbed my own shades to put them on because being a piece of shit was sometimes fun. Especially, when you make people shit bricks just by looking at you with fear in their eyes.

If they were going to travel in style might as while looking the part, and low and behold they were all dressed in tight-fitting clothes to show off their muscles. I slapped my forehead sighing, boys will be boys.

I walked over to them getting their attention and making them stop in the middle of their conversation. Just by the silence, I knew they were talking about me. Then their expressions confirmed what I was thinking, they were worried about me going back to my old pack.

I glared at them, "You know you don't have to stop your conversation on my behalf."

I paused for that dramatic effect because let's admit it everyone likes to be a drama queen sometimes.

I made a go-on hand gesture, "Well come on continue what you were saying. I know you guys were talking about me. I'm not stopping you from saying anything about me and to me."

After speaking to them, their guilty expressions turned to concern and they all began talking at once. I couldn't make out a thing they were saying and if I was a werewolf my ears would probably hurt like hell.

I just waited for their meaningless conversation to finish. Once they all turned silent, I nodded at them and turned around to put my bags in Ryan's car.

I heard their feet shuffling towards me as they pushed each other to get to me. Their shouting echoing off the walls of the garage, which made my ears feel like they were bleeding. I heard Ryan's voice above them all.

"Kat, listen to us. You don't have to go back there. You have no obligations to go with us. They don't even deserve your help. They don't deserve our help," I looked back at them, at Ryan, to see his eyes turning black.

His wolf, Alex, was pushing Ryan to let him out. Since Ryan was angry, his wolf felt the need to protect a member of his pack, to protect his family, to protect his friend, to protect me.

I smiled. This was why I loved them, loved him. They showed me what a family was supposed to be like. They helped me like I was actually part of their pack. They never made me feel like an outsider. I turned around leaning on the side of Ryan's SUV to look at them and to give them my full attention.

I let my inner thoughts out, "I love you guys, but I'm still going to Blood Moon pack. There is no reason I should have to hide anymore. I am stronger than I would have ever been if I had stayed in his pack. I want them to see me now, I want Ace to see the girl he rejected and I want to make them all regret it."

I smirk as I said the last part letting them see that this was what I really wanted. They smirked along with me as they realized that this was what I truly wanted and that this was something I had to do. Not just for my pack but also for me, so I could finally move on.

They gathered me into their arms and at that moment I knew that they realized something. They realized that I wasn't the little, weak girl they found at the café that one day. That I had changed and grown into a woman. They knew who I truly was.

I was Kathryn Steele: a rejected mate, a fighter, a warrior, and a human who fought with a pack of wolves.
