Chapter No 11: Favourites

Abhira found herself immersed in a world of longing, confusion and frustration. She felt an overwhelming yearning for just a glimpse of him that followed the days after their last meet.

His absence became an unbearable ache that consumed her thoughts and filled her days with a sense of loss. She missed him greatly..... Their stolen moments, the hint of smile, the slight warmth of his eyes, the comfort of his presence by her side, his tender touches. She had became so used to him that now her life felt empty, as if an important part of her is missing

It pained her to realize that he had started avoiding her, to retreat into a space where she couldn't reach him. Despite her every effort, she couldn't find him. It was like he had vanished into thin air leaving her to wonder where he hid himself away

Yeh kya ker rahe hain yaar?

She mused aloud, a mixture of confusion and anger lacing her words and she she held her head.

As she sat there, a mixture of confusion and frustration loomed over her like a heavy cloud that refused to lift. Her throat constricted with emotion and she held her breath, her heart pounding in her ears as she closed her eyes.

She felt a gentle touch on her head, the strokes soothing, the hands held a strange mixture of roughness and comfort and she let out a gentle sigh as the fragrance of roses met her senses.

Mumma

Abhira called out, a knowing smile on her face as her eyes remained closed, a sense of calmness washed over her.

Kya soch rahi hai meri beti?

Abhira sighed. She didn't wanted to talk about it. Not now.

Kuch nahin.

Abhira whispered, her breath catching in her throat as she lied.

Maa se jhooth?

Abhira shook her head sideways lightly.

Mumma.

She called out, her tone tender as she masked her feelings with a smile

Main aapke liye khana banaun?

Abhira said with a twinkle in her eyes and stood before her mother could say anything.

Abhira placed the phone in between her ear and shoulder and bit her bottom lip in nervousness.

Ab kuch bolegi bhi?

Sharda Devi spoke. Abhira could hear the smile in her voice.

Woh.....

Abhira trailed off, her nervousness evident.

Bol bhi.

Shard Devi spoke, a hint of laughter in her tone.

Abhira,s heart raced and she closed her eyes, her grip over the phone tightening.

Armaan ji ko kya pasand hai? I mean....

Abhira trailed off, her voice trembling and her pulse racing. A mixture of anticipation and nervousness flooded through her causing her to tremble a bit.

Are are.

Sharda Devi laughed softly.

Justification dene ki zaroorat nahin hai.

Abhira felt a sense of relief wash over her and let out a breath, her blood pounding up to her ears.

Armaan ko besan ka halwa pasand hai + usko white color pasand hai, tulips pasand hain.

As Sharda Devi continued to speak, Abhira heard with full attention, her heart hammering in her chest. Every detail etched into her heart.

After a while, Abhira cut the call bidding bye to Sharda Devi and opened the YouTube searching the recipe of besan ka halwa.

Her heart raced, a mixture of hesitation and determination flooding through her. She took a deep breath, tying her hair up in a bun, tucking strands of hair behind her ear. She rushed to gather the ingredients, her hands trembling slightly. Her heart pounded wildly in her ears as she worked, moving with an ease that was surprising.

She roasted the besen in the ghee while humming softly, the rich aroma filling the kitchen.

Abhira,s mother entered the kitchen and her eyes widened, a mixture of shock and awe etched on her face.

She blinked, unable to believe that her daughter was really cooking and slowly walked forward, her heart full of affection while she blinked her eyes.

Abhira doesn't notice her mother's presence, too focused on the task at hand, stirring the contents of the pain with a focused expression etched across her face.

The sight was adorable, filling Akshara,s heart with a sense of warmth and a smile broke out on her face.

Her disbelief faded for a moment. She was caught by a sense of awe at her daughter's effortless movements despite being truly in the kitchen for the first time.

Abhira.

Akshara called out, her tone tender.

Abhira, too engrossed in her work, jumped slightly at the sudden call, her heart pounding wildly and she turned her head sharply stabling herself just in time.

Mumma.

Abhira said, her voice trembling slightly as she stabled herself. Her heart still pounding in her ears.

Aap?

She said in a questioning manner, her voice calm but her heart still pounded in her ears.

Akshara smiled, her gaze drifting to the basen ka halwa and beside that, a plate of fluffy puris was waiting.

Besan ka halwa aur puris huh?

Akshara asked crossing her arms across her chest and raised an eyebrow.

Yeh sab kyun?

She asked while Abhira turned focusing on the task at hand but her fingers trembled slightly, her cheeks flamed hearing her mother and she quickly shook her head.

Mann tha toh socha.....

Abhira trailed off, careful not to make her mother suspicious. The halwa shimmered perfectly golden. The rich aroma wafting through the air.

Tune aaj banaya hai yeh.

Akshara said, her tone doubtful but Abhira shook her head sideways, reminding herself to remain composed.

Aap hi ne toh tana mara tha ke main kaam chalau chef hoon. Aise hi raha toh meri shadi kaise hogi. Bhool gayi Kya?

Abhira exclaimed turning to look at her mother after garnishing the halwa and serving it.

Akshara eyed Abhira, a thoughtful expression crossing her face.

Kaha toh tha.

Akshara said, lost in thought.

Abhira smiled softly, the rich aroma of besan halwa wafted into her nose and her thoughts drifted back to him. A flutter of anticipation tickled her stomach.

Her heart raced, a wave of nervousness crashing over her and she carefully served herself a little halwa before taking a bite.

Her eyes fluttered close automatically before she smiled, the halwa tasting perfect on her tongue. A wave of delight washed over her and she turned to Akshara.

I can't believe ke yeh maine banaya hai.

Abhira said, her voice quivering slightly.

Akshara tapped Abhira,s forehead with her fingers.

Pagal.

Akshara spoke glaring at her but there was no real heat in her eyes.

Banda pehle apne se badon ko chakhata hai aur yeh khud hi chakh li.

Akshara said gently pretending to scold her daughter.

Abhira laughed holding Akshara,s hand and twirling her around. Akshara gasped and then laughed.

Yeh kya ker rahi hai Abhira? Ab iss umar mein girayegi kya mujhe?

Akshara asked breathlessly, her voice carrying a hint of laughter.

Kuch nahin hoga maa.

Abhira said gently, her smile and the twinkle in her eyes never fading.

She quickly packed basen halwa and puris in tiffins for the lunch and rushed to serve food on the dining table.

Abhira placed the steaming dish on the table. The rich aroma wafting through the air and Abhir rubbed his hands together in delight.

Abhira moved to serve with a grace that betrayed none of the nervousness she felt.

Here you go.

She said, her tone tender.

Abhir,s eyes fluttered close in delight.

Yum mumma.

Abhir said with his eyes closed, his joy evident.

Yeh besan ka halwa toh pehle wale se bhi zyada acha hai.

Abhir said, his joy evident.

He looked at Akshara, his eyes sparkling with curiosity.

Yeh recipe kahan chupa ke rakhi thi aapne ab tak?

He asked and Abhira couldn't hold back her smile, her heart swelling with a sense of accomplishment.

Abhir beta.

Akshara called out laughing softly.

Yeh halwa maine nahin Abhira ne banaya hai.

Abhir chocked at her words and coughed.

Bhai.

Abhira called out, her smile fading into concern as she moved forward and made her brother carefully drink water.

Abhir looked at her, now composed. His eyes laced with disbelief.

Yeh halwa tune banaya hai?

He asked, his voice trembling.

Abhira ran a hand through her hair, her heart swelling with pride.

Hanji.

Abhir made a face eyeing the halwa.

Sahi hai. I mean itna acha bhi nahin hai.

Abhir said in a mock serious tone. Abhira rolled her eyes but couldn't hide the smile that tugged at her lips.

Aap nahin sudhrenge.

She said in a mock offended tone and bent down to kiss her brother's cheek, her affection evident.

And main complain nahin ker rahi.

She said, her tone soft with affection.

She looked at the clock and gasped in shock.

Oh GOD I'M LATE!!?

She spoke, her voice raising slightly.

Akshara gasped, startled by the sudden yell and looked at the clock

Akshara breathed deeply, her heartbeat calming.

Abhi waqt hai Abhira. Kafi time hai abhi toh.

Akshara said softly.

Abhira helted in her tracks and turned.

Nahin maa. Sharda maa se promise kiya tha ke main unko halwa de ker jaungi office jane se pehle.

She said softly and rushed upstairs.

Later.

Abhira sat in front of her feminine dressing table, dolled up in a simple white net Shalwar kameez. She reached for her pink tint and applied a subtle coat on her lips. Her chestnut brown locks trembled down her back like a waterfall of silk and she pinned her dupatta to the right side. Few strands of hair framed her face in the most beautiful way.

She ran her hand over the polished top of the feminine dressing table, careful to not let her ring scratch the finish. A wave of nervousness crashed over her and she bit onto her bottom lip.

Main achi lag rahi hoon na?

She asked to herself, uncertain.

Hope so.

She said and stood abruptly from her chair. Giving herself a final glence in the mirror, she turned around and walked. Her dupatta swirling with each hurried step she took. Her heart pounded in her ears, her nervousness evident.

On The Other side!!!

Abhira served Sharda maa halwa and puris. Her movements looked practiced, betraying none of the nervousness she felt.

Yeh lijiye.

She said softly. Sharda Devi took a bite of her food, a mixture of tenderness and delight flickering across her face.

Abhira,s heart raced with a mixture of nervousness and excitement but she managed to keep her expression composed.

Kaisa hai?

Abhira asked tenderly, her composed expression betraying none of the anxiety that shimmered just beneath the surface.

Sharda Devi looked on for a moment, her expression unreadable.

Acha nahin hai?

Abhira asked, her smile faltered.

Sharda Devi,s eyes sparkled, a bright smile broke out on her face.

Bahot acha hai.

She said, her eyes brimming with warmth.

Abhira,s heart skipped a beat and she gulped softly, her mind raced to process Sharda Devi,s words and then she allowed herself a tender smile, her nervousness fading.

Acha laga jaan ke.

Abhira said, her voice tinged with relief.

Sharda Devi patted Abhira,s hand. Abhira looked at her and she gestured Abhira to bend down slightly.

Sharda maa apne puriya toh li hi nahin.

Abhira made an excuse and bent down and Sharda Devi whispered in her ear.

Armaan ko bahot pasand aayega.

Abhira,s heart skipped a beat at her words and she felt a blush coloring her cheeks.

Hope so. Ab main chalti hoon.

She said softly.
