4- Detention and Whatnot
🐶Kiba's POV🐶
Normally I skip out on detention, but today I wanted to hang out with Amber Rose. She was interesting. After just one day she had accepted Hinata and tried to beat up Madara.
I smirked. You would think a girl like would be all over Madara.
Amber was already sitting in the detention room, sleeping. Her crimson hair was out of its ponytail and splayed around her head.
I sat in the desk next to her. Akamaru jumped out of my hoodie and onto her back.
"Huh?" Amber lifted her head.
Akamaru sat on her desk and gave her nose a lick. How unlike him... It usually takes forever for someone to gain Akamaru's trust.
"So how was your first day?" I smirked.
Amber groaned, "You're lucky we're still in school or your ass would be dead for that."
I stifled a laugh so Mr. Kakashi wouldn't hear it. This girl was alright in my book.
"So Mr. Sarutobi still gave you deten even though you were trying to protect Hinata?" I leaned back in my desk and stuffed my hands in my pockets.
"Deten?"
"Detention."
"Ah," Amber started brushing out her hair with her fingers, "Yeah, he said I still have to be punished for actually fighting, I just get a lower sentence than those two seniors."
Akamaru nipped at Amber's hair as she flipped it up in order to tie it back. She pulled on the sleeves of her gray sweater so the ends covered most of her hands.
"You ever do your homework here?" Amber asked as she pet Akamaru.
"I rarely ever come," I admitted.
"Really? So why come today?"
"You're a new kid, figured I'd better show you the ropes. You didn't even know it was called deten," I grinned.
Amber gave me a sarcastic look, "That's 'cause most schools don't call detention deten. And it's not like I've never gotten in trouble before."
"You seem like I pretty cool girl," I mentioned.
"Seems like?" Amber said in a fake sassy voice, "Honey, you don't know the half of it!"
This time I couldn't hold back my laugh. Three kids turned to glare at me.
"Inuzaka," Mr. Kakashi drawled, "please remain quiet."
"Yes, sir," I mumbled.
When I looked back at Amber, she was stroking Akamaru like a villain strokes their cat. She was looking me up and down with a small smirk on her lips.
Amber leaned over and whispered loudly, "Good job."
I playfully swatted at her face as she backed away. She giggled lightly. Her giggle was adorable...
"How long are we stuck here?" Amber looked up at the ceiling.
"Only an hour."
"Only? That's two hours too long."
"Now you see why I don't come to these things?"
"I might join you next time you skip."
"Be my guest."
"Put your service to the test?"
"Why not?" I shrugged. I found myself unable to meet her eyes, so I looked down at the now sleeping dog in her arms, "Akamaru must really like you. He doesn't trust many people, least of all strangers."
Amber looked down too, "Huh. I've never been a huge dog person, I'm more of a cat person."
"I'm allergic to cats..."
Amber put her hand over her chest and opened her mouth in mock disgust, "But... My people!"
All I could do was shrug, "Sorry, kid."
Amber shook her head in disapproval. She looked around the room at all the other kids. There were five besides us, four boys and one girl. The girl and one boy were sleeping, the others were staring off into space or doing homework.
The sound of rustling paper drew my attention. Amber had taken out her notebook and was flipping to a clean page. I caught glimpses of random drawings. There was also a drawing of Shikamaru. Amber took a pencil out of her pocket and started drawing.
"What are you drawing?" I leaned over to look but Amber blocked my view with her arm.
"You'll see," Amber insisted.
Amber worked intently, making careful lines and erasing angrily whenever she thought she messed up. Every few seconds, she would look over at me or down at Akamaru.
I eventually gave up trying to look. I put my head down on the desk and pulled my hood up.
"Done," Amber poked my shoulder, sounding very pleased with herself.
I lifted my head and Amber set her notebook on the desk in front of me. She had drawn a picture of Akamaru and I. In the picture, we were under a blooming sakura tree. Both of us were asleep with Akamaru in my lap. Sakura petals were falling around us and the shading made it look like late afternoon. I was amazed.
"This is beautiful," I told Amber.
"Thanks," she grinned.
"You're an amazing artist."
Amber sighed and stretched, "I. Am. Tired."
"Then sleep, I'll take Akamaru if you want."
"Nah, it's fine," she waved the offer away, "just wake me up before it's time to go."
"Alright."

🌹Amber's POV🌹
I sat up and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. I was vaguely aware of someone's hand on my shoulder.
"Rise and shine, Sleeping Beauty," I could hear the smile in Kiba's voice.
I frowned, "I thought I was Belle."
I thought I heard Kiba whisper under his breath, "You're some kind of princess, that's for sure..."
"Hmm?" I asked.
"Nothing!" Kiba's blushing face betrayed him, however.
I stood up and stretched. Akamaru was back in Kiba's hoodie.
"Are you doing anything the rest of the day?" Kiba asked.
"I doubt it..." I sighed, "Mrs. Haruno will probably be mad at me for getting in trouble my first day."
"Oh," Kiba sounded disappointed.
I pulled out my phone, "What's your number? I'll text you if I can hang out."
"Sure, I'll give you everyone else's numbers too."
"Sounds good!"
I left the school with four new numbers in my phone. When I got home, Sakura and her mom were waiting for me in the kitchen.
"Sorry," I muttered.
"It's alright, dear," Mrs. Haruno said, "Sakura told me everything that happened."
I flinched, "Am I in trouble?"
"Oh heavens no!" She exclaimed, "You were only protecting that poor girl. Besides, it's about time someone stood up to those jerks."
My eyes widened. It was a pleasant surprise to say the least.
"So, I made some friends today and I was wondering if I could go hang out with them?"
"Friends already? I'm impressed! Yes, you can, but after you eat dinner; you must be starving."
As if on cue, my stomach rumbled. I smiled sheepishly and sat down at the table across from Sakura. I ate as quickly as I could.
"Thanks Mrs. Haruno!"
"Oh, wait!" She handed me a bag of cookies, "Take these, and grab a jacket in case the sun goes down before you get back."
"What time do you want me back by?"
"Preferably before midnight," she lifted one shoulder.
"Alright, thanks again," I ran upstairs to grab my black jacket before going outside.
On the porch, I texted Kiba, I'm allowed to hang out until midnight. Where should I meet you?
Kiba texted back almost immediately, At the school I'll bring H, S, and C.
I threw my jacket on and headed for the school. I was excited to see what these kids were like out of school and could have fun.
They weren't there when I got to the school. I sat down on a rock by the bay. A fish splashed water onto my shoe. I leaned back on the rock and closed my eyes.
A few minutes later, a loud bark scared the shit out of me. I fell off the rock and landed in the water on my butt.
"Akamaru!" I whined.
Akamaru stood proudly on the rock I previously sat on, his tail wagging. He got down in a playful stance. His tongue lolled out of his wide open mouth ad it almost looked like he was grinning.
I stood up slowly and crawled up on a nearby rock. Kiba came running down the hill laughing his ass off. Shikamaru and Hinata came next, both smiling slightly.
"Wait for me, guys!" Choji puffed.
By the time Choji reached us, I was completely out of the water and standing with the other three.
"Kiba, you dumbass!" I playfully punched Kiba's arm.
"Hey!" Kiba yelped, "Akamaru did that on his own!"
"Oh I'm sure he did!" I laughed.
"So, Sloth," Kiba draped his arm around Shikamaru, "What say you?"
"Sloth?" I picked up Akamaru and let him lick my face a bit."
"We all have nicknames," Hinata piped up.
"I'm Sloth if you haven't guessed," Shikamaru ducked away from Kiba.
"I'm Gluttony," Choji puffed, the red spirals on his cheeks all but invisible due to his red face.
"They call me Envy for some reason," Hinata's smile said she knew why they called her that.
"What about you, Kiba?" I challenged.
"Me?" Kiba stopped short.
Shikamaru grinned sadistically, "Kiba is Pride."
"Hey, man, I told you a thousand times: I don't have pride issues!" Kiba grabbed Shikamaru and stuffed his head under his arn
"See what I mean?" Shikamaru called from Kiba's armpit.
I laughed. It felt great to let loose and hang out with friends.
"Sloth, you never answered my question!" Kiba let Shikamaru go.
"Hmm..." Shikamaru thought.
"What about Wrath?" Hinata suggested.
"Oh yeah, that would be perfect!" Choji exclaimed.
"Wrath?" I placed a hand on my hip.
"Yup yup!" Kiba nodded firmly, "Welcome to Konoha, Wrath!"
