Going Home

"Heat! Not so high!" You screech with a giggle as he pushes you on the swing. He simply gives a silent laugh and steps back, watching you swing back and forth from the built up momentum of his pushing you. Wire was straddling the swing next to you, holding onto and leaning into the chain while watching with a small smile of his own as Tori and Killer chased Kid around the playground in a makeshift game of tag. You'd all come out here to have some fun and burn off extra energy before recharging with large slices of birthday cake back at Doc's. Today was turning into such a good day, easily the best birthday you've ever had.

"Oy, brats!" They hear a familiar voice calling from down the street followed by a loud whistle. "Get yer arses home! It's cake time!"

"Cake!" You yelled excitedly along with Kid and Tori, dragging your feet to slow you enough you can jump off the swing, stumbling a few steps before tumbling to your knees. It hurt a little but you couldn't help but laugh, rolling onto your back as Heat ran over, a deep frown of concern on his face.

'Are you okay?' He signs quickly before reaching down to help you up and you nod, smiling at him. He's gotten better at talking verbally but will occasionally fall back to signing since he's used to it.

"Just fine, Blue! C'mon! It's cake time! I can't wait to blow out the candles with sissy!"

He beams widely before he's shoved playfully by Wire as he runs past. Heat looks at you a moment then back to Wire and you give him a shove of your own.

"Go ahead! I'll catch up!"

He nods and turns, a slight skip to his step before he takes off after Wire. Killer races past you next, nothing more than a blond blur followed by flashes of strawberry blonde and bright red as Tori and Kid run past and you laugh, moving to follow them. Despite being the smallest, Kid was gaining ground on Killer and Heat, racing across the street and using a light pole to quickly change his direction once on the sidewalk on the other side, Killer doing the same. You reach the curb just behind Tori when you gasp in realization. You'd left your doll at the playground in the baby swing.

"Hold on! I forgot my doll!"

Tori stops and turns to look at you before glancing back at the boys with a sigh, seeing them ahead of you two. You don't wait for her, darting back into the street as the sound of screeching tired followed by a revving engine fills the air.

"(Y/n)! Stop!"

Everything seems to slow as you look down the street with wide eyes, seeing a large dark vehicle racing towards you, two people in facemasks leaning out of the windows on one side with guns in their hands, firing at the buildings as they pass. There's no way you can get out of the way in time when you feel a hard shove to your back, the sound of the boys all yelling in horror but it's too late. You feel the impact and jerk up in bed with a yell, tears streaming from your eyes, your breath fast and erratic.

"Tori!"

It takes a few moments for your surroundings to come back into focus, your childhood street fading to your studio dorm room, posters on the wall you've yet to take down between barren shelves with your desk in the corner, a soft glow from the surface emanating from your laptop. You look around, trying to even your breathing, glancing from your empty closet to the open en suite bathroom and around to your nightstand until a sharp wave of pain shoots up your right thigh and you lean forward to clutch your knee. That too fades as you rub the tense muscle and once it's relaxed you flop back against your pillows, staring at the ceiling. It's been a while since you had that dream. Or, memory you should say, and it's left you shaken.

Rolling to your side you pull an oversized dragon plush over, holding it tight against your chest. It was half your size, colored midnight blue with a shimmery scale pattern, its underbelly and wings a dark teal, given to you by Heat eight years ago on your fourteenth birthday and was one of your most cherished possessions. Holding it tighter you press on the front of its chest, activating the voice box tucked away inside, a familiar voice sounding from the speaker.

'To my sweet Dragonfly, don't you cry.
Just hold me close to your heart, and we will never be apart.
I love you, the Berry to my Blue.'

Like it always did, it eased your mind and heart and you snuggled down into the plush, your body relaxing even more until the peace was interrupted by your alarm sounding from your phone on your nightstand and you blindly reached over to silence it. You knew it would go off again in about ten minutes so you pulled it over and unlocked it, turning it and future alarms off before checking notifications, smiling at the current ratings for the latest makeup video you'd posted. Scrolling through your feed a familiar man with blue hair and a tattooed face listening to some music pops up, giving a reaction to it. You didn't know the song but you could tell he was into it, bobbing his head to the beat with a smile growing on his face and your heart gave an ache from how much you missed him and the others since it's been a few weeks since you've been home or seen them thanks to finals.

"Well, you're gonna be surprised later. That's for sure," you whisper to yourself, double tapping the screen to like his video before closing the app, opening a new one. Turning the camera on so it faced you, you snuggled into the dragon with a smile and snapped a picture, sending it to its recipient, adding a message after it sends.

Dragonfly:
Spitz says good morning!
Miss you, Blue!

Blueberry:
Gorgeous! You're up early!

Blueberry:
I thought you were done with
finals?

Dragonfly:
Nightmare...

Blueberry:
Same one?

Dragonfly:
Yeah :(

Blueberry:
I'm sorry Babydoll :(

Dragonfly:
Meh. I'll live.

Dragonfly:
Wyd today?

Blueberry:
Ah, some car show
Kid wants to go to so he's
dragging us all along to it...

Blueberry:
I'm already so bored! XD

Dragonfly:
Aww poor baby!

Blueberry:
It's not funny!

Dragonfly:
It is a little. You can
say no, you know. I'm
sure it wouldn't kill him
if you didn't always go
to those with him...

Blueberry:
Yeah, but there are some
cool cars sometimes, so....

Dragonfly:
Then I don't wanna hear
you complain about it :P

Blueberry:
Wyd today?

Blueberry:
Besides missing me.
And don't say you are, because
I know you are so :P

You laugh, pausing mid typing exactly that. He always knew you so well he could anticipate what you'd respond with. It was the truth, though. You really, really missed him and the boys, especially after waking up from that nightmare.

Dragonfly:
Yeah, well...shut up...
I DO miss you. A lot.

Blueberry:
I miss you too, Babydoll.

Blueberry:
<3 <3 <3

Blueberry:
We're pulling up so I
guess I'll message you later.

Dragonfly:
Yeah, I'll text you later
Have fun! And don't let
Kid buy a car! He doesn't
need any new ones!

Blueberry:
I'll try, but no guarantees.

Dragonfly:
<3

Blueberry:
<3

You sighed, closing the app and locking your phone, rolling onto your back. Well, at least they would be out of the house today, so that would make what you had planned easier to pull off. Thinking about it you couldn't help but smile, imagining their surprised expressions when they came home to find you already there and moved back in almost a week before you had originally planned to. Your finals were over with and you'd already gotten your grades back. All A's, as you expected, and not one to make a big deal out of things you opted not to walk across the stage with the rest of your graduating class. You did that once already when you graduated High School and that was enough for a lifetime. Now you just had to finish packing the last of your things; a few posters left on the wall and the bedding you currently slept on. And Spitz, of course.

Checking the time on your phone you did a mental calculation of how much time you had to get everything ready for the movers, counting backwards to now.

"If they're supposed to get here between noon and one, I need to have everything packed up and ready to go by quarter to eleven so I can clean. It'll take me about twenty minutes to shower so if I get up now that leaves about two hours for packing and cleaning. More than enough time. Definitely can't go back to sleep though, which is kind of a bummer. I'll just have to nap later."

Plan in your mind you sigh and give Spitz another squeeze, triggering the voice box before throwing the blanket off and scooting to the edge of the bed, moving your legs over the side until your left foot rests on the floor, rubbing at your right knee, working down over the stump just below it. It was gonna be an achy day for sure. It always was after you had that nightmare, phantom pains from your missing lower leg flaring up. Nightmare... it was easier to call it that, because that's what that day was. A nightmare. Even now, just over ten years later you wondered how everything that day could have gone from perfect to so very wrong in the blink of an eye. Because you were too stupid to not remember your doll in the first place. For not stopping to check for traffic like you'd been taught and reminded to do so many times. Even a second of waiting, of looking down the street you could've seen the car as it rounded the corner. Could've ducked out of the way.

Could've saved your sister.

But no, you were too concerned about having forgotten the robot doll Kid had made and given to you for your birthday you forgot to check and darted into the road where you had been hit by that car. If Tori hadn't run after you, hadn't pushed you forward to get you out of the way, you would be the one gone and she would be here now. Instead, she took the brunt of the impact before being run over, the car knocking you to the ground and running over your leg. The damage to the bones was too extensive and they had to amputate it below the knee.

But what was a leg compared to the life of your sister? They'd told you she didn't suffer, that the impact had been hard enough she probably didn't even feel it. You, on the other hand, spent months in agony between the heartbreak of losing your other half and the physical pain from losing your leg. You blamed yourself for years. You still did, the guilt renewing each time you had that nightmare. They never caught the gang members, even from all the forensics and investigation done from their drive-by, and your sister's death was called an unfortunate accident.

Unfortunate indeed. Unfortunate because your brother's joined that life, one by one with the goal of finding those that caused the accident. To get their vengeance. They've been involved in that life for at least eight years in some way or another, eventually forming their own gang that was quick to grow in notoriety in the underworld, Kid taking the role of the leader, or 'Captain', though all four of them, Kid, Killer, Heat and Wire were the ones in charge. You knew some of what they did. Hells, you've even helped them on the tech side, but overall they did their damndest to keep it away from you and away from the home you shared with them when you weren't in school. Even when they'd come home beat to hell they chose not to focus on it, asking how your day was or how you were doing as you cleaned them up and tended to their wounds. It happened so often at first you had grown used to it, sad as that is, but over the years they've gotten better. Stronger. Now at most all they might have is bruised or split knuckles instead of black eyes or busted lips or bruised ribs.

You never knew for sure if they ever found those from the car, but one day, about four years after losing your sister, they came home late looking grim. At least, all of them except for Kid. He was just downright pissed, his hands and face covered in blood but before you could tend to him he stormed to his room and slammed the door. Killer just gave you a sad smile and a ruffle to your hair, disappearing into Kids room as well. Wire also went to his own room, his usually blank expression even blanker, and Heat, your sweet blueberry, went right to you. No words were said as he walked you back to your bed and pulled you down with him, holding you tightly and refusing to let go as he silently cried.You just held him, comforted him the best you could until he wore himself out, falling asleep with Tori's name passing his lips in a whisper. He went mute after that for a while, barely even smiling unless it was with you but he eventually worked himself out of it. Now you had to practically beg him to shut up. Not that you ever would. He could talk for hours and you'd never get tired of it.

Heat... You sigh and reach for your arm crutch as you stand, using it to help you get to the bathroom. Out of the four boys, he was the one you were always closest to, the one you had a deeper connection with. Killer was a close second, but no one could take Heat's place in your heart. He's been your rock. Your go-to for anything and everything from lazy day lounges to late night messaging when your mind was troubled and you couldn't sleep. More than once he's even driven out to the school in the middle of the night to be with you if things got too bad or you needed something and you loved him for it. As excited as you were to see the others, he was the one you looked forward to seeing the most.

Shower and basic necessities done, you hobble back into your room and dress, making sure your stump was completely dry before pulling on the tight sleeve that acted as a barrier and padding between your skin and the prosthetic before pulling that on as well. Now complete and feeling more human-like you set about packing the rest of your belongings, double and triple checking you had everything packed and nothing remained before giving the room a once over with your cordless vacuum, emptying, disassembling and packing that once you were finished. Now all that was left to do was wait for the movers who should be here in less than an hour. Since you had some time to kill, you figured you'd text Killer.

Butterfly:
Hey Hey!
How's the car show?

Sunflower:
Car show? It's alright.
What's up, buttercup?

Butterfly:
I'm bored out of my mind
and miss you boys. Heat
told me about the car show
you guys were going to.

Sunflower:
Ah. Yeah, some cool cars
but nothing we haven't
seen before.

Butterfly:
Hence why I told Heat
not to let Kid buy another
car. He doesn't need a
new one!

Sunflower:
XD Ain't that the truth!

Sunflower:
Everything else okay? Did
you need anything? Want us
to get you some dinner
on the way home?

Butterfly:
Nah, I'll be alright.
Thanks though, Kil <3

Sunflower:
Alright. Gotta go before
Kid DOES buy a new car
Ttyl <3

Butterfly:
Have fun!

You smile at your phone, biting at your lip. If only he knew....

Closing your chat with him you scroll down to a different one, opening it up with a wide smile on your face as you type out your message.

Shrimp:
No buying a new car!

Tulip:
Shut up, woman! I do what
I want!

Shrimp:
Watch it, hothead, or I'll
sic Killer on your ass :P

Tulip:
Don't threaten me with
a good time lmfao!

Shrimp:
Eww... Why are you
like this? XD

Tulip:
You know you love it
Gotta go, Shrimp.

Tulip:
And I'll buy another
car if I want to! Tryin
to tell me I can't.... You
crazy.

Shrimp:
Whatever... lmao!
Ttyl Kiddo <3

You smile and shake your head. Didn't matter how old he was, Kid would always be a stubborn child, but you loved that about him. The way he was able to remain carefree about so many things yet as soon as someone threatened those he cared for he was all business. You've seen him almost start a fight several times over the course of your schooling when he overheard someone saying something about you he didn't agree with, or even if a guy tried to take an interest in you. It's partially why you kept what few relationships you had been in a secret. Only Heat and Wire knew when or if you'd dated someone, and even then you usually only told them after it was over since none lasted that long. That is, of course, aside from your relationship with one of the medical students, Law. Speaking of...

You pick up your phone when the notification tone goes off, opening it to the new message.

Bread:
Hey. You at your dorm?

Bread:
And why is my name still
Bread? Change it.

(Y/n)-ya:
Yeah. What's up?
And no lol. I like it like that

Bread:
It's so stupid. Change it.

(Y/n)-ya:
Fiiiiiine. Now what
do you want?

Dr. Bread:
...... Changing it to that
isn't much better.

(Y/n)-ya:
That doesn't answer my
question. What's up?

You sigh when you see the message mark as read, sitting on the chair at your desk. You give it another minute before locking your phone to focus on your laptop, making sure all the programs are properly closed before shutting it off. Once powered down you unplugged it and packed it into your padded laptop case, but when you were winding up the power cord you heard a knock from the door. The movers hadn't texted you or called you. A quick glance at your phone confirms that, so who would be knocking? Unless...

Heaving a sigh you shove the cord in your bag and rise to your feet, going to answer the door. As you suspected, a familiar tall man with tired eyes stands on the other side, a smirk appearing when he sees you.

"(Y/n)-ya. Brought you some coffee."

You look down as he holds up a plastic cup lined with caramel, whipped cream and caramel pressing against the domed lid with some squeezing out of the wide straw opening and you smile.

"Thanks! I need the pick me up, but what are you doing here?"

"Do I need a reason to come see you?" You step back to let him in and he looks around, taking in the barrenness of the room and neatly stacked boxes. "You're already moving?"

"Yeah. Figured since I'm not walking the stage I'd just go home early."

"So I should get out of here pretty quick then? Don't need Kid getting his pants in a bunch because I'm here."

You laugh softly, sitting back at your desk as you hold the lid to your lips, sucking the whip cream and caramel through the hole as you squeeze the sides of the cup, getting as much as you can in one go with a moan of delight. You catch another smirk from him as he shakes his head, sitting on the edge of your bare mattress after handing you a straw.

"No," you say, licking your lips with a happy shimmy. "The boys don't know I'm coming home today. They're supposed to come help me move next week, so this is a surprise for them."

"Now that's asking for trouble. Who knows what you'll walk in on if they aren't expecting you."

You can't help but laugh, knowing how right he was. How many times had you come home without telling them only to catch one pair or the other in... compromising situations. It always made you giggle how dark Heat would blush, little flames flicking out past his lips if it was him and Wire you walked in on. If it was Kid and Killer, Kid would just laugh and ask if you wanted to join, Killer usually smacking him upside the head while modestly concealing himself if needed. Not that it mattered, as soon as you remotely expected them to be indecent you turned your back to them with your own blush. A flash of a bare ass was one thing, and they were men so you saw them shirtless often, but other than that you've somehow been spared from seeing them fully naked, or seen things you didn't necessarily want to.

You may have all grown up together, seen each of them as your brothers and them considering you their annoying little sister (even though Kid was two years younger than you), but none of you had any ties by blood. Killer and Heat had known each other for years, both having grown up in a traveling circus before running away. They had met Wire first, the older boy taking care of the other two and it was some time after that they found Kid when they lived on the streets. One day they were found and pursued by the police but Wire and Heat were able to get away whereas Kid and Killer had been caught and taken to the orphanage where they met you and Tori. You'd been there a while, both parents having died with no other living relatives to go to, and you quickly formed friendships with both of them, later with Heat and Wire when the boys would sneak the other two in, especially on cold nights.

It was several months after that when an older married couple, Doc and House, visited the orphanage looking for a child to adopt since they couldn't have any of their own. They quickly fell in love with you and Tori, but despite wanting someplace to call home once more, you wouldn't leave without Kid and Killer. Doc and House could see how much you cared for the boys, how close the four of you were and decided to adopt them as well. Heat and Wire followed the four of you back to Doc's house and found a safe place to hunker down, not wanting to leave you. It wasn't easy to adjust at first, but you soon found a new normal, continuing to let Heat and Wire in out of the hot or the cold weather when Doc and House weren't looking, feeding them with leftovers you smuggled away from the table in napkins until one night, during the middle of a massive blizzard, Doc checked on the four of you and found the other two boys in the room. More specifically, he saw Heat and you laying in the same bed cuddled up together. Understandably he freaked out at first, yelling and causing a scene that, frankly, had scared you to tears. House had run in, quickly realizing Heat wasn't there to hurt you, that he was in fact protecting you by standing between you and the enraged Doc with you shielded behind him and quickly diffused the situation. After hearing your side of the story in which you cried and begged for them not to be sent away, she realized that Heat and Wire were just as much your brothers as Kid and Killer had become and after a discussion with Doc and later a talk with the six of you to not keep things like this from them again they were welcome to stay and given their own room to share.

And so you all grew up together, until the accident that took your sisters life and your leg. Over those years since, the boys grew closer to each other, Kid with Killer and Heat with Wire, until they officially became couples. Once Kid turned 18, he and Killer got married to each other, following Heat and Wire who had married each other two years earlier. That just left you, the odd one out in the middle of the four of them. You've loved them for years, in your own way, but it did get lonely seeing and, unfortunately, hearing how much they loved each other hence why once you had gone away to college you tried your hand at dating. Nothing had worked out, not even your relationship with Law even though it was the longest, the two of you dating off and on for almost two years, but over time the two of you came to the mutual agreement that while there was attraction, it wasn't something either of you could see going any further. He remained your friend, though, and you were thankful for it.

"Well, thankfully they're out of the house today," you say after sipping at the blended frozen coffee. "Heat said they're all at a car show and wouldn't be back until later, probably around dinner time since Killer offered to bring me something."

Law nods, sipping at his own steaming cup of coffee which you knew to be black. Not a single drop of creamer or a grain of sugar to be seen. How he could drink something so bitter you didn't know. "Is someone at least helping you move?"

"Yeah. I hired some movers who should be here..." you check the time on your phone, giving a shrug. "Any time between now and one."

"And how are you getting back, (Y/n)-ya? You don't have your car."

"I was just gonna ask to ride with them. If not, I'd order a taxi."

Law just looks at you, a brow raising a fraction of an inch before he hangs and shakes his head with a sigh. "Only you would do something like that."

"What?" You laugh, taking another sip of your drink. "It's not like my stuff is going to one place and I'm going to another. I'm going home."

"With random people you don't even know, knowing the guys won't be there. That's the definition of not safe."

"Well, do you have a better idea?"

"Yeah. I'll drive you."

"I thought you were taking extra classes over summer break, that they already started last week."

"I can miss one day. I rather enjoy my life and if that hothead found out I'd let you go home with strangers and something happened to you that life would more than likely be cut short. If not by that short fuse, then by the silent, masked, either secretly handsome or horribly disfigured blond shadow of his. Can't tell which since he always wears that mask that covers the lower half of his face."

You rolled your eyes and sat back, annoyed at his answer. But, thinking about it, you had to admit he was right. You didn't know the movers, never even heard of the company before only picking them because one of the girls in your dorm hall had been raving about them and how reliable they were when she had to move with little warning, something you were doing now. Originally the boys were gonna come help you move out, but you were dead set on surprising them by coming home early so scheduling with this company seemed like a good idea. You even paid extra up front to get bumped up on their list for today.

"Alright. I know there's no stopping you once your mind is set on something."

He smirks behind his coffee, taking another sip, an easy silence falling over you two. One that's disrupted by your phone ringing, the ringtone a song from your favorite band, Pirates Victory. Finally!

"Hello?"

"Hi! Is this (Y/n)?"

"Speaking!"

"This is Adam with Golden Movers. We're here and just need someone to let us in so we can go ahead and get you moved."

"Oh! Sure! No problem! Someone will be down to let you guys in and show you to my room."

"Thanks! See you in a few!"

You smile and hang up the call, going to stand when Law rises to his feet, tossing his now empty cup into the open garbage bag you had.

"I'll let them up. You just rest and I'll be back."

"Thanks Law."

He nods and disappears out the door. You can't just remain sitting though, so once he's gone you open your door and start pushing boxes towards the hall in an attempt to make it easier for the movers. You manage to get several through the door when two men, each with rolling dollies, step out of the elevator with Law leading them back to the room.

"This shouldn't take us too long. I'm thinking a couple trips, so ten minutes? Maybe twenty minutes at the absolute max," Adam says after looking over your boxes of belongings. At least you assume it's Adam since he sounded like the man on the phone.

"Thanks guys! I'll help out however I can."

The other man, a bit taller and bulkier than Adam, shakes his head with a smile.

"Thank you, Miss (L/n), but this is what you paid us for. We'll take care of everything for you."

"Oh. Well, if you're sure."

You smile and leave them to the boxes and totes, going back in your room to gather your laptop bag, purse, and small travel suitcase after strapping Spitz to the outside of it. After the two movers head out with the last of the boxes you take a final look through the room now that it wasn't cluttered with your boxes you nod with satisfaction and a soft pang of loss. You'd called this room home for the past two years and this was the last time you would be setting foot here. It held so many memories, both good and bad, but you knew that you had so many more to make now that your schooling was over.

"(Y/n)-ya." Law's voice brings you back from memory lane and you turn to him with a smile. "Are you ready?"

"Yeah. I'm gonna miss this place, but I'm more than ready to get back home."

"Let me take your bag."

"You're such a gentleman. Thank you."

Law gives you a rare smile, one not hinted with his usual smirk before grabbing your suitcase and stepping back into the hall. With one more glance over your shoulder, you close the door behind you and take his offered arm and the two of you head down the hall to the elevator.

'I'm sorry, the number you are trying to reach is no longer in service. If you feel you are receiving this in error, please check-'

You barely contain a screech of annoyance as you end the call and the automatic message, holding your phone tight. This could not be happening!

"(Y/n)-ya, calm down," Law says from his spot on the couch, watching you pace angrily across the span of the living room

"Don't you tell me to calm down! Fucking fuck!"

"(Y/n)..."

"No! How could this have happened?! They had good reviews! That one girl raved about them, so where the fuck are they and why can't I get a hold of them! It's been hours!"

"Because the whole thing was obviously a scam. Reviews can be faked. Either the girl was in on it or she was one of the few they didn't scam so they could get more business from word of mouth."

"All my things just... gone! Clothes. Books. Movies. Everything! Even my two spare prosthetics and my crutches! All I have is this one now!" You say loudly, gesturing to your right leg. You wanted to cry. "Who the fuck even does something like that?"

"Scum wannabes who like to prey on women and people in need. It happens a lot more than you think, especially in a big city like this."

"Yeah, but I never thought it would happen to me, you know?" You sigh and flop down on one of the recliners, left leg hooked over the arm. "I just wanted to surprise the boys and come home early. Now I have to re-buy my closet and ask Kid to make me a new leg. Gods, even that alone will get him and the others asking questions because they know I take care of my prosthetics."

"So why not tell them what happened to begin with?"

You lift your head and give him a look. "Did you really just ask that? You know how they are! Last thing I need is them tryin to track those guys down or something. Make it their problem when I'm the one who got in this mess, not them."

"You should still tell them."

You groan and let your head flop back before trying to call the other number you had saved for the company only to be met by the same recorded message saying the call couldn't connect because the number was 'no longer in service'. You seriously couldn't believe this happened, and in the next moment you make the horrifying realization. You had originally planned to ask them for a ride as well. Oh gods...

"Law..?"

"Hmm?"

"Do... do you think.." Your voice is soft as you still try to process, but you can't get the words out. Law thankfully knows what you were trying to ask.

"Could they have very easily kidnapped you had you asked for a ride with them? Most definitely"

You groan and close your eyes, dragging a hand over your forehead. How could you have been so fucking stupid?

"Thank you."

"Nothing to thank me for."

"No, there is." You look over at him, seeing him relaxed on the couch with his head leaned back against the back cushion, arms draping over the top of the couch on either side with his legs outstretched and crossed at the ankles. To anyone else he could look relaxed but you knew he was actually quite tense at the moment. "You probably saved my life by showing up with coffee before they got there"

"(Y/n)-ya," he tilts his head up to look at you, that smirk back as he gives a sigh. "Like I said, if anything happened to you I'd be hunted down and killed by those boys you love so much."

"So you only did it to save your own skin, not because I'm your friend?"

"What? No! I did it because I'm your friend. But I also value life. Mine, specifically. Kind of a two birds, one stone situation."

"Mhmm..." You give him a look, eyes narrowing a bit before you start giggling. He smiles and gives his own laugh, shaking his head. "Let me take you out to lunch some time next week. As a thank you."

"No need because there's nothing to thank me for."

"So what if I want to take you to lunch because I want to?"

"Then I'd say it's a date. Who would turn down free food?"

You laugh and sit properly in the chair, a wide smile on your face. "Certainly not Luffy. Can't even mention the 'F' word around him unless you want your wallet to hurt."

Law blinks at you a moment before giving a genuine laugh, nodding with your statement. "That boy is certainly ridiculous. How can such a foodie stay so thin? You've seen how he is when he eats."

"I know! Kid's the same way. Belly and all, then next you know he's back to normal and inhaling even more food! Where do they put it all? I even look at a tray of cookies and my hips get wider."

"What's wrong with that?" Law folds his hands behind his head, his smirk widening as he lets his eyes trail over your body. "More to hold on to when you're having fun."

"Law!" Your face erupts in a blush and you turn away, hiding your smile behind your hand as you laugh softly. "That's so inappropriate."

"What? You have the best hips. Always fit perfectly in my hands when I held you." He gives a soft sigh, closing his eyes and leaning his head back into his hands. "I miss that."

"I do too," you say softly with your own sigh, shifting to tuck your left leg under you.

"Hey." He gets your attention and you look up, seeing him look over at you with a growing smirk. "The boys aren't home right now. You wanna have a tumble in the sheets for old time sakes before I leave?"

"Trafalgar! It's one thing when we did that in my dorm or at your apartment. They would literally murder you if they caught us doing that here!"

"You're forgetting my car. Or that empty classroom. And the exam room after hours. All those places where we risked getting caught," he says as he slowly rises from his spot on the couch, walking over until he braces against the arm rests of the chair you're sitting in, leaning down until his face is inches from yours and you can feel his warm breath fan over your face. "I'd take that risk again right now if you asked me to."

You look up at him, eyes wide as your breath picks up with a slight hitch at the close proximity and it would be a lie to say you didn't get excited by the idea, but it was just too much of a risk. "I...B..but..." you swallow and wet your lips, trying to refocus and get control of yourself. "T-they could literally walk in the door at any minute. I don't want to risk it, risk your safety and deal with more drama after the day I've had and we both know Kid is all about the drama."

Law takes a deep breath as his eyes trace over your face before he gives a shrug, leaning up to place a kiss to your forehead, standing back up while tucking his hands into the front pockets of his spotted jeans.

"Your loss. You've got my number if you ever change your mind." He steps back, giving you some space and it helps to clear your head a bit as he looks around the room, spying the alarm system on the wall. You'd run in to turn it off before he made it to the door so you figured he didn't know about it. "Make sure you lock the door and turn the alarm on after I leave. And keep your phone close, just in case. I doubt anyone would try anything, but you'd have your phone if you needed to call for help."

"I'm sure I'll be fine. This is a decent neighborhood with good neighbors. Keep to themselves but still look out for each other. Remember when old Mrs.Parker didn't come out to water her garden a few years ago and one of the neighbors called for a welfare check? That saved her life."

"Even still. For my own peace of mind?"

You give him a reassuring smile and nod, shifting to stand from the chair but when you go to take a step the ankle joint on your prosthetic locks up and you stumble only to be caught and steadied by Law.

"Stupid..." You grumble with a groan, holding onto him and using the heel of your left foot to push down on the fake foot, snapping it back down into place. You lean on it a couple times, seeing it move normally once more. "Why I didn't wear my better prosthetic I don't know, and now I don't even have it anymore..."

"At least you've got that ugly dragon of yours. You'd go after those scammers on foot to get that back."

"Hey!" You swat at his arm and he laughs at your expression. "Don't you bad talk my beautiful baby Spitfyre!"

"Case in point. I call him ugly once and I get smacked."

"Wanna get smacked again? Call him ugly one more time."

"What if I do? What are you gonna do? All I'd have to do is pull your leg off and make a run for it. Or I could pin you down before you could hit me again. Have you at my mercy then."

"Law!" Your face erupts in another blush and you push at his arm, turning him around before pushing him forward to the door. "I told you that's not happening today!"

"Not today? So maybe another day this week?" He asks over his shoulder making you blush again.

"No! That's not what I meant and you know it, cheeky bastard!"

He turns quickly, walking backwards with you pushing on his chest, smirking down at you. "That's what you say now. I bet you'll be calling me before the week is out and not just to take me to lunch."

You roll your eyes and shake your head but you're all smiles knowing you'll miss this playful banter with him. "In your dreams!"

"But you already are. Every night in fact. Most the time you're beating on me for not letting you win at chess or something ridiculous like that even though we both know you always cheat at chess."

"How can you even cheat at chess?"

"No idea, but you always do."

You stop pushing on him when you reach the door, looking up at him as you laugh but you don't pull your hands away from his chest. Once he walked out that door who knew when you'd have time to see him again. It was one thing at school when you would have an occasional class together, or were able to plan study nights or passed each other in the halls or in the quad, but now he would be all the way across town and you'd be here. Not to mention his increased workload and studies taking up most if not all of his free time. Now... well, now it felt like saying goodbye.

"Are you sure you don't want to pop upstairs for a few minutes?"

"I've already told you no hun." You let your thumb rub small circles against his chest. "It's best if you go."

"It was worth a shot."

"C'mon." You finally pull away and reach around him, opening the door. He walks out backwards, keeping his eyes on you as you lean into the doorframe and you catch a flash of emotion that crosses his gaze.

"I'll see you around, (Y/n)-ya. Let me know about that lunch next week, yeah?"

You nod and give a small wave, seeing him give a smile that seems like it's on the sad side before he turns and walks down the sidewalk, hands tucked into his front pockets. He gets about halfway to the street before you call out to him after chewing on your lip.

"Hey, Law?"

He stops and turns, catching you as you run over and throw your arms around his middle, giving him a tight hug before you pull back and stand on your tiptoes, pressing a chase kiss to his lips.

"Thank you. For everything. I'll text you later."

"I look forward to it."

You give another gentle squeeze, finally letting him go with a blush he can't help but smile at, watching the door close before he turns back towards the street. Pulling out his phone he opens your contact and presses the video button to start a video call that you answer after a couple rings, confusion and amusement prominent on your face.

"What? Miss me already?"

"You know it. Lock the door and set the alarm."

"I will, don't worry about it."

He shakes his head with a laugh, giving you a look you know all too well, one of him trying to be stern yet playful at once. "Now, (Y/n)-ya. Turn your camera around and let me watch you do it so you don't forget."

"Law..."

"Humor me. Please."

You roll your eyes and do as he says, going back to the front door to show it was locked before walking to the alarm system, opening the cover. You turn the phone so he can't see the code, but he can hear you input the numbers in the sequence that would allow you to move around inside but go off like normal if someone came home but didn't turn the system off, panning the camera back over to show it marked as 'armed'.

"Thank you."

"Anything else for His Majesty?" You ask in a playful tone, turning the camera back around to face you.

"Well if you're offering, I'd love to see your breasts. Didn't get to play with them today after all."

"Oh, you mean these?" You giggle and tilt your camera down until he can barely see the swell of them before quickly moving your camera back up. "As if! Get out of here, you perv!"

"Worth a shot. I'll text you later."

"Bye, Law. Miss you already."

You hang up the call and he can't help but sigh again, his smile falling.

"I miss you too..."

Reaching a hand up he rubs the back of his neck, resisting the urge to look back at the house feeling sad and alone now that he wasn't with you. It was so easy to fall back into the familiar banter and flirting and he wished more than anything it could be like that every day, but he knew it couldn't. Getting in his car he lets his thoughts fall back to when you two had been dating, how close you two had gotten but after a while it was clear that although there was chemistry and attraction between the two of you, as much as he may have wanted more to come from it, you both knew nothing ever would. It was still fun, though, and a lot of good memories came from it. It was these memories he was reliving as he drove away, not noticing the odd blank cargo van parked halfway down the block with tinted windows.

"Fuck!" Kid growls against Killer's lips, hands tangled in the blond's long hair as he walks backwards, stumbling down the hall with Killer tugging at his comfortable lizard print pants to undo them, his jeans already undone. Kid was already rock hard, hissing with pleasure when Killer reached in to pull out his cock, stroking his calloused hand along the shaft. "Get me on the fucking bed and fucking fuck me already!"

Killer growls low in his throat, biting at Kid's lower lip as he releases his hold on his dick long enough to shove his own pants down more, pulling out his just as painfully hard cock before tugging Kid close, turning to shove and pin him against the wall.

"Need my cock that bad, little boy? Need me to fuck you until you're seeing stars?"

"Fuck, yes!" Kid nearly whines, shifting his hips so their cocks rub against each other's. "Wanted that dick in me the entire drive home!"

Killer gives a silent laugh before stooping down, lifting Kid by the back of his thighs, maneuvering his legs around his waist before wrapping his arms around his middle, pulling him away from the wall and carrying him with ease despite Kid's slightly larger size the rest of the length of the hall to their room as Kid grabs hold of his hair once more to tilt his head back, crashing his red tinged lips against Killer's blue ones in a demanding kiss that has both moaning. They don't pause to turn on a light when they enter the room, Killer walking to the bed with confident steps, kicking the door closed with his foot until he unceremoniously drops Kid with a bounce on the pile of blankets there.

The pile of blankets that suddenly let out a loud pained yelp that has Kid swearing and scrambling away and confusing Killer who quickly turns on the bedside lamp revealing you as you throw the blanket off, only to immediately yelp again seeing their state of undress (but thankfully not catching sight of their exposed cocks) and hiding under the blanket once more.

"(Y/n)?!" Kid shouts with realization, frantically trying to shove himself back into his pants. "What the fuck are you doin here?!"

"Uh, surprise?" You say, your voice muffled by the blanket. "I came home early to surprise you guys but didn't know when you'd be home and got tired. Are you decent yet? It's hot under here..."

"Definitely a surprise, in more ways than one," Killer replies with a silent laugh, tucking himself away as well before fastening his pants. "We're decent, you can come out now."

You peek out from behind the blanket, looking from one man to the other before slowly sitting up, lowering the blanket as you do so. Killer is standing next to the bed, arms crossed loosely across his chest with his head tilted to the side, a smile on his face. Kid is still on the bed next to you, his face more stern looking with the slight glare he has going on but he's also giving you a wide smile.

"I'm happy to see ya, Shrimp," He says, shifting to face you more fully. "But fuck do you sure know how to kill a mood!"

"I'm sorry... I can leave and let you two get back to whatever you were gonna do."

"Meh." Kid shrugs before shooting you a wide grin. "Not like me an Killer can't fuck later. C'mere!"

He lunges at you and you shriek as he pulls you onto his lap, smothering you in a tight hug that has you laughing and smacking at his bicep when he tightens his hold on you.

"K-Kid! C-can't breathe!"

He groans with an adorable pout before he loosens his hold but doesn't let go, nuzzling into your shoulder instead. "You could join us, y'know. Don't have ta leave us all alone."

You could feel your face instantly ignite in a deep blush at his words, struggling in his hold as he playfully begins to pepper your cheek with kisses and you reach out towards his partner.

"K-Killer! Help me!" You plead for help as you smack at Kid's arms, trying to get free.

He just looks at you with another silent laugh, shaking his head with his own smirk. "You sure? Alright then."

You don't have time to question him before he's fisting his hand in Kid's hair, yanking his head back in a move that has Kid hissing in a mix between pleasure and pain, one hand going back to grab at Killer's arm as the blond leans over and bites on a spot on his neck that turns that hiss into a moan. You did not need him to do that with you right there on Kids lap, but it worked because Kid loosened his grip enough for you to free yourself from his hold and move to get off the bed. Kid realizes what's happening and, after shoving Killer off him, lunges for you again grabbing your ankle. Your prosthetics ankle, and when he tries to tug you back he pulls the fake leg off entirely and you swing your full leg over the side of the bed and start hopping across the room as Kid falls back on the bed looking from the fake leg he holds in his hand to Killer who's doubled over with laughter. He only ever laughed like he was now around you or Kid since he hated the sound of his own laughter. You laugh as well, trying to make it to the door but it's not easy to balance and hop on one leg and all too soon you mistime yourself and start to fall. Killer, through his laughter, sees it and lunges to catch you but is just a hare too late, falling under you in a last ditch effort to catch you with you landing on top of him where you both start laughing loudly. Even Kid's roaring with laughter from where he's thrown himself back on the bed, holding his stomach.

"What the hell is going on in here? I thought I heard..." You hear another familiar voice say from the door trail off and you look up to see Wire leaning against the door frame, head ducked so he can see into the room, his bored looking eyes moving from Kid down to the floor where they widen slightly seeing you and Killer on the floor. "Well would you look at that."

"Look at what?" Another familiar voice that sets the butterflies in your stomach fluttering asks from behind the tall man, a mop of long blue hair and a tattooed face trying to look over his shoulder with a tired expression that instantly lights up when he sees you.

"Dragonfly?!"

"Blue!"

Heat shoves past Wire and scoops you up into his arms, holding you tight and swinging you around with a wide smile on his face.

"What are you doing here?" He asks when he finally sets you down, his wide warm hands holding your waist to keep you stable and upright as he looks over your face, blushing when he sees you're swimming in his hoodie, one he'd worn only yesterday. "I thought you were staying at the dorm the rest of the week until we came to help you move?"

"I thought I'd come home early and surprise you guys. Missed you too much to stay when I didn't need to."

"Yeah, she surprised us alright," Kid says with another laugh, handing your prosthetic to Killer who goes to your side and kneels, helping you put it back on. "Didn't know she was here and we almost fucked on top of her!"

"Kid! Your face darkens and you shoot him daggers with your eyes. "It's not my fault you have no situational awareness! Even you, Kil!"

Kid shrugs, folding his arms behind his head as he lounges against his pillows with a cocky grin on his face. "I wouldn't have cared. We've fucked in weirder places."

"Kid!" You and Killer exclaim at the same time before looking at each other with a laugh, Killer shaking his head as he stands tall once more. Gods you've forgotten just how tall all of them are.

Killer was the shortest of the boys at 6'3", able to rest his chin comfortably on top of your head as he held you. You who only stood at about 5'6" on a good day. Kid was next at a tall 6'7". You had one photo that you'd taken with the two of them just like that, Killer's chin on your head and Kid's chin on Killer's head. Your blushing blueberry was next, standing at 7' though his boots usually added a couple inches. You didn't even come up to his shoulder! Wire was the tallest, the behemoth of a man at a staggering 8'4". He's elbowed you more than once in the face, completely by accident of course, but despite his size he was one of the gentlest people you've ever known.

"What?" Kid rolls his eyes with a lopsided pursed lip pout. "She would've been welcome to join."

Hearing that, Heat gives a low barely heard growl as he tightens his grip on your waist, pulling you closer. Ever your protective if sometimes slightly overbearing Blueberry.

"It's fine, Heat," you say, reaching up to wrap your arms around his neck. "Let's just get out of their hair and let them fuck out their emotions and we'll see them later. Maybe. I need food anyways."

That finally draws his attention back to you and he nods after a moment, giving you a small smile. "Alright. Let's see what we can get you, unless you want me to order out?"

"Sure! Afterwards you wanna do some online shopping with me?"

"When don't I? Now, what do you want to eat?"

Kid and Killer watch as Heat walks out with you, talking about food and what you were in the mood for before Wire closes the door behind them leaving the two alone. Killer gives a small sigh, seeing the look on Kid's face. One he knew that meant Kid was deep in his thoughts.

"What's with that face?"

"What do you mean?"

"You're thinking about something."

Killer sits on the edge of the bed and Kid gives a shrug, rolling over with a huff and on his next inhale he caught the fresh scent of you lingering in the blankets, groaning when his body reacted like it had for the past few years, his cock growing almost painfully hard in seconds. He hated it. You were his little menace of a sister after all.

"Just missed (Y/n) is all. But as much as I love havin her back home she killed the mood and you know how it is when the body wants one thing but the mind has too much on it."

The bed shifts and a weight settles on his back and he feels Killer's beard tickle his skin as he trails a slow line of kisses along his shoulder. "Well, you know I can get that mind of your pretty blank. Unless you want to talk about whatever it is you've got running around up there."

"Nah." Kid takes another deep breath, drawing your scent in with a sigh before pushing up against Killer, the blond bracing himself letting Kid roll over under him. "Nothin really to talk about. What was that about getting my mind pretty blank? Seems like some big talk. I think you're gonna have to prove that you can."

"Are you doubting my skills?"

Kid gives a cocky grin, leaning up to bump his forehead against Killer's. "Yeah. I am. Whatcha gonna do about it?"

Killer's shoulders hunch with his silent laughter, his eyes turning dark and playful as he rests his weight on Kid once more. "Just lay back and you'll find out, little boy."

~~~~~~~~~
"So..." you say slowly, scrolling through restaurant options on Heat's phone looking for some place to catch your eye. He hums softly, fingers sliding through your hair, his free arm wrapped across the front of your shoulders as you lean against him on the long couch down in the living room, your legs stretched out across the empty cushion. Wire was sitting in his chair, one leg crossed over the other as he read a book. "I had a bit of a... mishap moving back."
"Yeah? What happened? Did a box break open from the bottom on you?"
"Well, Law stopped by when I was waiting for the movers, and everything seemed to go well. Picked them because they seemed like a high rated company with good reviews but turns out they were a bunch of scammers and they may have stolen all my stuff..."
It's silent for a moment, Heat's fingers pausing their movement and even Wire looks up over his book at you, a brow raising.
"Say what now?"
"Yeah," you sigh softly, feeling the human heating pad tense next to you. "They were supposed to meet us back here but never showed up and when I tried to call them I kept getting an automatic message that said the call couldn't connect. So, I lost all my stuff. Well, most of it. I still have Spitz, my laptop and a small suitcase of my favorite clothes but I lost everything else, including my two other prosthetics."
"What company? Fuckers think they can steal from my girl have another thing coming to them!"
You shift and lean your head back, looking up at him with a small smile. His lips are set in a scowl and he's got smoke blowing from his nose as he breathes. He was not happy. "It's okay, Blue. It's just stuff."
"Yeah, but it was your stuff. Your prosthetics alone..."
"I'll just have Kid make me a new one. I've got what's important to me."
"If they so easily took your stuff I dread to think what could've happened if Law hadn't been there."
Heat and Wire were the only ones aside from your friends at college to know you had dated Law, and while they didn't necessarily like him they tolerated him knowing you cared for him.
"Yeah. I was just gonna take a cab but he insisted on driving me. Sat with me for a couple hours while we waited for the movers to get here. Video called me on his way to his car when he left and watched me lock the door and set the alarm."
"That's good." Heat sighs, looking down at you and giving a small smile that doesn't reflect at all in his eyes. "I'm glad you're okay, Dragonfly."
"Me too, Blue." You smile up at him before shifting, lifting an arm to wrap around the back of his neck to draw him down enough until you can kiss his cheek, giggling when it makes him blush. "Now, do you want sushi or pizza?"
