A Day With Their Partner: Obito

It had been some time since the incident at the office and (Your Name) still wasn't any closer to finding out what happened. She would've had her answers if the files hadn't been stolen out of the office that night. She huffs in irritation as she stares at the old crime reports given to her when her parents died. She kept coming across the same inconsistencies in the file, they taunted her. Each time she read them, she had a difficult time making sense of what happened.

"Officer (Last Name) chased the offender through the streets. Coming upon the offender, he discreetly pulls a gun and shoots him before Officer (Last Name) could act in a timely manner to protect himself," (Your Name) reads aloud as she rakes her fingers through her hair.

"What am I missing?" (Your Name) muses as she peers at the report "The chase took place in broad open daylight, yet no one saw a thing. Genko searched every place around trying to find at least one witness, not one one came forward."

The (Hair Color) haired girl smiles to herself at the thought of her father's old friend. He was the only one that fought hard to not allow her parent's case to be shut down. The older male was her godfather, he took her in after the tragedy of losing his friend and wife. He was there for her through the best and the worst of times. He was actually the reason she became a private investigator, he encouraged her to take the pain of her past and turn it into a positive that helps others. She made a mental note to give him a call, he was a worrisome man that called often if he felt didn't hear from her enough.

Just as she's about to continue to try and put pieces of the puzzle together, her phone rings. Glancing at the caller I.D, it's none other than Genko himself. Grinning, she answers the phone.

"Hey uncle, what's up?"

"You tell me, I don't hear from you in kami knows how long and all you have to say is 'what's up?'" (Your Name) could easily picture the stern expression he was more than likely wearing at the moment.

The girl awkwardly chuckles, "I'm sorry, I've been really busy. How have you been?"

"Same old; protecting the city as a man in blue, worrying about you." He emphasizes "How have you been kid?" The occupied girl makes her way to the kitchen to get something to drink.

"I've been good, nothing new to report." 'Aside from the fact that I'm working with the akatsuki...'

"Oh? Does that mean that it's safe to assume that there's no one special either?"

"It is. I'm far too busy to give that a thought," She laughs before taking a sip of her drink.

"Good, I don't have to do any digging then." Though it sounded like a joke, (Your Name) knew well that he was very serious.

"Thank goodness." She smirks.

"Can you make it for dinner Friday? I'm making your favorite." He informs her.

"I can't, I'm working on a case outside of town, I'm not sure when I'll be back. It could take a while. I'm actually working on a few leads right now."

"Alright, I can take a hint. I'm just checking on you kid. Don't forget to give me a ring okay?"

"Okay, I'll talk to you soon." Guilt begins to consume (Your Name) as she stares at her phone.

"Keeping secrets (Your Name)?" Shiro's calm voices startles the woman.

"How devious of you." Kuro adds

Said woman turns to face the oocupants of the unique voices. Zetsu, Obito's partner who became like her shadow since Obito's absence. At first, the odd man creeped her out but over time she grew comfortable with both his appearance and behavior. His snooping behavior was another matter; one that she may never learn to acclimate. That's ironic seeing as that's exactly what she does for a living, it was weird being on the other end of things.

"Can you not do that? It's already weird enough having you hover around me." (Your Name) sits at the island. The plant man wanders the open space, never once taking his eyes off of (Your Name).

"Sorry, we don't have another choice; Obito's orders." Shiro apologizes as he inspects a plant on the counter.

"He doesn't trust you, get over it." Kuro repiles bluntly.

"I'm not sure there's a living soul that does have Obito's trust. Speaking of secrets; Obito is a walking bag of secrets. He never talks about himself; why is that?"

"Because he doesn't want nosy women like you in his business." Kuro snaps.

"Kuro, don't be so rude!" Shiro scolds him.

"She's too damn curious!" He counters.

"Can you blame me? We've been working alongside one another for a while now and I don't know anymore about than the day I met him." (Your Name) explains as she draws imaginary shapes into the counter top.

"From what I learned being around humans, not everyone comes from a past where things are perfect; there are unfavorable moments that humans like to forget ever happened. I don't completely understand human nature but I do get the need to understand what's mysterious to you." Shiro empathizes

Wordlessly, Zetsu leaves (Your Name) to stew in her thoughts, wandering off to who knows where. She didn't mean to come off as nosy but there so many things about Obito that she didn't know.

As (Your Name) made her back to her room, she found herself growing more and more curious by the minute about the distant male. He always made certain that he never revealed much about himself and his past.  What happened to him? And what story hid behind the scars on his face? Why was he helping her? It could've just been because he wanted her to join the akatsuki like he previously told her; what if there was more to it? The curious girl was bursting with questions that she had to know.

As (Your Name) continued to work, she found herself getting distracted. That night, (Your Name) went to bed with more questions than answers; none of the questions had anything to do with her parent's cold cases.
