A Day With Their Partner: Itachi

(Your Name) stares out of the window, watching the rain pour from the gloomy skies. The akatsuki just relocated to the city under Pein's order. She loathed that the weather matched her mood as of late. She still couldn't believe that her task force was put together just to get her to the akatsuki, and that Itachi was the one who funded it. There isn't a step by step manual that teaches you how to handle something like this, so how does one get past this? Itachi was currently out of town for personal business.

(Your Name) was appreciative for the distance, it gave her time to make sense of this all without seeing the raven haired male. The (Eye Color) eyed girl wasn't sure how she was supposed to feel around him, it was too confusing. She couldn't stay mad at him forever, she knew that. Still, she didn't want it to seem as if she thought it was okay that he deceived her.

What should she do? Should she continue on as if nothing happened? At the very least, she could be grateful to him for being honest with her. That should count for something, shouldn't it? After all, he offered up the information willingly, he didn't have to. Why did Itachi tell her?

Oh right, he thought she had a right to know...

How was she supposed to take that? And what "bad guy" actually says something like that? Bad guys were supposed to be really mean but Itachi wasn't. He was reserved maybe but never mean. No matter how distant (Your Name) was being with him, he remained his usual impassive self. She appreciated that he was trying to be understanding. Perhaps he was wasn't so bad? Maybe-

Before (Your Name) could sink further into thoughts of Itachi, Kisame enters the room without knocking. Rolling her eyes, (Your Name) turns to face the blue skinned male.

Since Itachi left, (Your Name) did everything she could to avoid the shark man. She still felt some what uncomfortable around him. Ironically enough, it wasn't because of his looks; it was his sneaky nature. There wasn't a place that (Your Name) could go in the base where Kisame wasn't already there, waiting on her. Albeit she knew Itachi was watching her, he at least put some distance between them and he didn't make it so damn obvious. Then there's Kisame... He was right in her face, making certain she knew he was keeping an eye on her, causing (Your Name) to feel uneasy. The (Hair Color) haired woman didn't know how to deal with him, which forced her to stay on high alert at all times.

"What do you want Kisame?" (Your Name) groans

"Just thought I would check in with my new partner." He replies

"I find that hard to believe." (Your Name) remarks

Placing a hand on his chest, Kisame feigns a hurt expression, "It almost hurts to know that you have no faith in me (Your Name)."

"Do you actually need something? Or are you just here to annoy me?" Averting her gaze, (Your Name) watches the rain drops slide down the window.

"A woman that gets straight to the point; I like that." Leaning against the door frame, Kisame widely grins

"What do you want?" (Your Name) emphasizes

"Seeing as you've voluntarily confined yourself to your room for the past few days, I figure we should get out; get some fresh air." Kisame suggests. Hearing the offer, red flags are immediately set off in (Your Name)'s mind.

"What's in it for you?"

Amused with her paranoia, Kisame chuckles. "What? I can't do something nice?"

Looking at her untrustworthy partner, (Your Name)'s (Eye Color) hues skeptically eye Kisame.

"You don't strike me as the type that does charity work." (Your Name) states

"Fair enough. But even I do good deeds every now and again. Besides, I can't have the stiff thinking I didn't look out for you while he was gone." Kisame reasons

(Your Name) began to wonder if she was even a thought in said male's mind at this very moment. Was it weird that it made her heart slightly flutter at the mere possibility?

Lightly shaking her head, the forenamed female comes to her senses.

"Wait, why does that even matter?" Ignoring her thoughts, (Your Name) waves a dismissive hand at his previous statement

"Are you coming?"

Standing, (Your Name) grabs her coat. "You're asking as if I actually have a choice. Where are we even going?"

"Where ever feels right." He smirks

Refusing to trust his evasive response, (Your Name) walks over to her night stand and grabs her bowie knife. The uncertain beauty sheaths her blade, placing the holstered weapon in her leather boot.

"If you try anything funny, I'll turn you into sushi." (Your Name) threatens

"Good luck getting close enough to cut me, small fry." Exiting the room, Kisame happily whistles as he makes his way down the hall

Rolling her eyes, (Your Name) closes her door and follows suit.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I shouldn't be surprised that you bought me here." (Your Name) grumbles
"You did say you wanted to go some where casual." Kisame points out
The pair were currently seated in a dimly lit bar. The scent of alcohol and cigarettes tangle in the air as music lightly plays in the background. Drunken men were busying themselves with card games, some were hit with a lucky streak while others were losing their entire paycheck. Women hostess filled the establishment. They were wearing clothing that tightly hugged their bodies, making (Your Name) wonder if they could even breathe in their skimpy outfits. She could've sworn that she seen one of the waitresses coming out of the storage room with one of the customers, fixing her clothing.
"You call this casual? The women are wearing little to nothing in here." (Your Name) whines
"That's the best part. It feels like home in here to me." Slouching in his chair, Kisame downs the last of his seventh drink. Seeing an attractive hostess walk past, Kisame stares at her butt in the extremely short skirt she is currently wearing.
Shaking her head in disapproval, (Your Name) sips her own drink in silence.
"Nothing in it for you, huh?" The (Skin Color) skinned beauty thinks
"Right. Do me a favor: Next time, don't bring me to a place that you and Itachi would go together." She pleads
Unable to control himself, Kisame laughs loudly as he grips the table for support. Baffled, (Your Name) stares at the breathless male.
"What is so funny?"
"Itachi, willingly coming in here? I would pay big money to see that." He snickers
Wiping a stray tear from his eye, Kisame notices the puzzled expression on (Your Name)'s face and decides to elaborate.
"Itachi looks like he has it all, doesn't he? He's good looking, nicely built and he's the prodigy of the Uchiha clan. You believe that he's a real ladies man, right?"
(Your Name) checks the time on her phone, "I guess. What's your point?"
"Boy wonder isn't as perfect as you think he is. Itachi came into this life as a kid working for the betterment of his clan. He's all about the business aspect of things, which means he's made no time for himself to play. Because of this, Itachi doesn't have a clue what to do when a women approaches him." He explains
(Your Name) found it hard to believe that Itachi couldn't conduct himself around women correctly. But what did she know? She knew nothing about the silent male. Kisame has worked alongside him for a while now, perhaps he did understand the former better.
"Really? He didn't seem to have a problem around me." (Your Name) tucks a lose strand of hair behind her ear
"Maybe you're not his type." He jokes
(Your Name) rolls her eyes, "Whatever. Where is he anyways?"
Kisame flashes his usual mischievous grin,"Why? Do you miss him?" Grabbing a few fries from his plate, the shark man eats them before moving onto one of his wings.
(Your Name)'s face flushes in embarrassment, "N-No! Why would I miss him?" She snaps as she nervously twirls a strand of her (Hair Color) hair around her finger
Kisame's grin turns into a smirk, "Why are you asking about him?"
A pause falls slips between the two. Why was she asking? Curiosity? Not even (Your Name) was certain that was the case.
Kisame rest his cheek in the palm of his hand, "You're adorable (Your Name)." He teases
(Your Name) ignores her heated cheeks, "Don't mock me."
"Sorry, I couldn't help myself." He pauses before continuing "Itachi went back home a few days ago. When we have nothing to do, he usually goes to visit his family when he can."
"Oh. I never would've guessed that he's so...family oriented."
"Yes, he's a man of many secrets..." Kisame trails off
Sensing the change in his tone, (Your Name) figures there's a hidden meaning behind his words but doesn't bother to question him about it. If Itachi had his own personal secrets, (Your Name) certainly wasn't going to pry.
"This place is starting to bore me. Let's go somewhere else." Paying the bill, Kisame takes his last shot and stands up.
Nodding in agreement, (Your Name) stands as well. Kisame may seem a bit shady at times, but (Your Name) infers that he's not that bad of a guy. Seeing that the gilled male is reaching for the car keys, (Your Name) quickly grabs them.
"I'm picking the next place we go. Plus, you've had way too much to drink." (Your Name) walks toward the exit with Kisame following not too far behind.
"You're an even bigger buzz kill than Itachi." He complains
"Sorry that I don't feel like dying today." (Your Name) chuckles
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Once the duo are back at the base, they go their separate ways. (Your Name) reaches her room door and opens it while Kisame makes his way to his bedroom.

"Hey Kisame?" She calls out

Facing her, Kisame waits for her response.

(Your Name) crosses her arms, "Thanks. Hanging out with you wasn't that bad."

The blue skinned male turns to fully face her, "If you wanna make this a regular thing we do when Itachi's not here, I'm all for it. I can't go to any of the bars I like because Itachi won't let me. I can show you some of them." Kisame persuades

"Don't push your luck." Lightly smiling, (Your Name) retreats into her room

Grinning, Kisame walks to his room. Opening his door, said male notices that someone elses bedroom light was on. Unconcerned with privacy, Kisame barges into the room to see Itachi sitting on his bed reading a book.

He returned to the base not long ago. With the break from Kisame, he took advantage of the peace by having a shower and settling in with a good book. Raking his fingers through his dampened hair, a tired sigh escapes Itachi's lips. He was enjoying the peace and quiet but he knew to expect that it wouldn't last long.

"Knocking isn't difficult. I implore you to try it sometime." Closing his book, Itachi sets it down on his night stand.

Ignoring him, Kisame shuts the door behind him. Leaning against the wall behind him, the shark man shoves his hands in his pockets.

"I thought you weren't coming back until tomorrow." Kisame recalls

"I decided to come back early. Pein informed me that he has a mission for us to do." Itachi responds

"Finally, all this time off was driving me insane." Kisame happily sighs

"Did you and (Your Name) enjoy your time out?"

"Checking on her? How sweet of you Itachi." Kisame gushes

Shifting uncomfortably, Itachi's averts his gaze. Feeling the rising heat in his cheeks, Itachi clears his throat.

"When I learned the two of you weren't here, I checked the tracking device I placed on her to see where you had gone. It was only to be certain she hadn't run off." He rationalizes

"How did you manage to place the tracking device on her? Knowing (Your Name), I'm pretty sure she didn't give the green light for that." Kisame surmises

"The device now flows through her body. I placed the tracking device behind her ear. I made certain it attached and then submerged in her skin." He explains

Kisame raises his eye brows in disbelief, "She must be a heavy sleeper."

Crossing his arm over his chest, Itachi shakes his head in disagreement. "She isn't. She woke at the slightest sound. I used my eyes to trap her in a trance like state. I then used a serum Sasori gave me to wipe her memory afterwards to be safe."

Kisame grins, "Ah, more secrets? When do you plan on telling her about this?"

"When I deem it to be necessary." Itachi replies

"Meaning never. I take it you didn't tell her about the other thing then?"

Falling silent, Itachi masks his guilt behind his unshakeable poker face. He's still dealing with the fall out between himself and (Your Name). If he told her the other truth, it was more than likely she would hit the roof.

"After the way she reacted to learning the truth about her division, I'm choosing to conceal that information for now."

"I didn't realize that you decide what's best for (Your Name) to know." Kisame points out

"I hadn't realized you grown a conscience." Itachi retorts

Kisame shrugs nonchalantly, "I'm just saying."

"Is she doing okay? Has she settled in a bit better while I was gone?"

Kisame chortles to himself, "There's no need to beat around the bush, Itachi. Why don't you ask me what you really want to know?"

"Those are things I want to know." He counters

"More than whether or not (Your Name)'s still angry with you?"

Itachi's coal colored eyes take a sudden interest in the window off to the left of him,"...Is she?"

Amused, Kisame laughs at his partner's timid nature. "No, I wouldn't say so. She even asked about you."

Itachi's hesitant gaze locks with Kisame's, "She asked about me?"

Kisame nods, "She did. 'Where's Itachi?' 'What's he doing?' 'Is he coming home to me?'" He speaks in his best girlish voice he could possibly manage

Itachi rolls his eyes,"You're exaggerating."

"Am I?" He smirks.

With his cheeks ablaze, Itachi disregards Kisame's unrelenting teasing.

"If I were you, I'd be more concerned with what's going to happen if she finds out about you-know-what." The shark man punctuates "A word of advice: Stop sparing others feelings, you're doing more harm than good that way. When (Your Name) finds out, you better pray to the good kami above for the best case scenario: She hates your guts for as long as she lives."

"That doesn't sound like a favorable option."

"It beats the alternative." Kisame attempts to reassure him

No longer interested with the current topic, Kisame begins to walk to the door. As he grabs the knob, Itachi's voice holds him in place.

"Which is what?" Itachi questions

Kisame looks over his shoulder at Itachi, "She really might consider killing you this time. Or worse, if anything goes wrong, she might go after what matters most to you." He darkly jokes

Kisame exits the room, leaving Itachi with more than enough food for thought. Itachi was always sure that he was making right the choice in any situation, that's just how confident he was of himself.

He didn't want to lie to (Your Name), but he had no choice. Itachi was trying to be considerate of her feelings. He didn't want to hurt (Your Name) anymore than he already had. Plus, the situation was under control. Why tell her something like that if there was no immediate threat?

He was making the correct choice...right?
