Episode 4: Working Out The Details
*Starting Scene*
The Mensians' armada presently escort Virago through space, not wielding any alternative due to having no idea how to return to their territory or where they are. During that, Jet 4 docked into the Victress' craft as the several mechanic they possess within the hangars, which hold a dozen pods, kindly check on the machine.
Anemone, being a bit distrusting, rapidly runs around Jet 4 as she points her right hand at the chicks tinkering with the Tomcat-like ship. "You better watch yourselves! If I find something out of place, I'll make sure none of you can lift anything again!"
A petite, light-skinned woman, wearing a brown jumpsuit with straight, long, green hair that's evenly parted at the back, sternly glares her clear eyes towards Anemone while stationed atop Jet 4's rear and carries a couple of toolboxes inside her hands. "Pipe down! You're distracting us!"
Anemone becomes defensive amidst gesturing her right appendage wildly and ceases her movement to focus on the character who recently spoke while situated a few meters away. "You can't tell me what to do! Anyway, it's normal for me to be worried! We're letting complete strangers mess with an Earth fighter jet! I'm only being cautious!"
The dame fiercely responds. "It's one thing to show caution, but it's entirely different when you're deliberating annoying people!"
As the pair continue arguing, Virgil and Suta lean against the hangar's left wall while located behind Anemone. Soon after, the redhead remarks with a bland attitude while containing his arms entwined as he observes Anemone's behavior, "She really is a pain in the ass at times."
Suta navigates his sight to the left, compliments of Virgil standing next to him, while saying with an arrogant smirk, "But you like having her around."
Virgil sharply nods. "Of course. She's my best friend. Plus, she's been a constant in my life that I don't mind. I barely get to feel that way about most stuff I deal with." He suddenly discerns three ladies advancing toward his left from the lone hallway connecting the hangar with the rest of Virago's confines while brimming intrigue.
It's promptly revealed that the trio are Eve, Gabriela and Fey as the sword-wielder specifically marches up to Suta's anterior. Once she arrives, the silver-haired individual draws her left hand near the male's chest as the gem he utilized to keep her safe is in it and firmly inquires, "What is this?!"
Suta instills his attention onto the gem prior to it abruptly disappearing with faint traces of aqua left, scaring Eve for a second, as he lackadaisically states, "Mine."
Eve demonstrates an enraged conduct towards Suta while clenching her left as she's on the verge of exclaiming.
Interrupting Eve though, another mechanic walks towards the jacketed person, dressed in a two layer, brown t-shirt fitting her thin figure and orange cargo pants, while questioning via a somewhat scrutinizing tone, "Why aren't you back at the Bridge, Eve?"
Eve locks eyes with the damsel, briefly depicting her tan skin partially covered by oil stains, as she quickly retorts, "We were heading there, but heard these folks came in and turned around!" The mildly busty chick shifts her concentration to Suta and settles down her method of talking. "I gotta' discover some things I believe he might be able to answer."
The second mechanic scoffs, batting her brown eyes while toying with her short, sleek, orange hair in the process, and replies tauntingly, "Well, you're priority is to have a small chat with Doyenne and explain why you destroyed a space pod... For the 10th time."
Eve grits her teeth out of frustration. "You don't need to remind me, Lacey!" The turquoise-eyed dame glances at both Virgil and Suta while relaxing a little. "Tag along with us then. Doyenne is waiting for you anyhow."
The two fellows momentarily share a look of curiosity before slanting opposite directions to view pass Eve so they can verify Anemone's constant verbal battle. Not long after, Virgil and Suta repair their composition as they make eye contact again amidst nodding.
Three minutes later, Anemone detains her argument to catch her breath, switching her vision to the wall in the background via steering her head left. In that instance, the Asian finds that Virgil and Suta are nowhere to be seen as exasperation envelopes her. "No way!"
Lacey unexpectedly displays herself toward Anemone's right and casually comments with her attention to Jet 4, "They left you to meet Doyenne."
Anemone hastily snaps her focus to Lacey. "Who the hell is that?!"
*Scene Change*
Doyenne swiftly turns herself towards the Bridge's entrance, hearing it open, as she witnesses the arrival of Eve's team with Virgil and Suta close to their rear. Because of that, the beauty temporarily examines the duo prior to issuing a solemn expression at her three companions while uttering in a threatening manner, "Oh, girls! I counted 10, didn't I?!"
Gabriela waves her right hand in Doyenne's vicinity, faint aggression portrayed. "Hey, this is MY 3rd!" She aims her right thumb at Eve, considering the sleek-haired character is towards her eastern sector. "Guess who wanted to drive the pod again!"
An upset scowl establishes itself upon Eve while mumbling, "Damn snitch...!"
Fey calmly injects herself into the conversation, poised beside Eve's right, and has her arms crossed. "And you're aware, Doyenne, that I've never caused trouble unless I'm with Eve. She alone is to blame."
Eve hurriedly veers her sight to Fey as she fervently shouts, "I'll kill you!"
Doyenne raises her left hand sufficiently to caress her hair's ends, utilizing her right arm for support, while coldly declaring, "It's for reasons like these we're almost always in debt! I'm equally responsible due to my continual neglect of your track records, but LEARN from the experience and understand how lenient I'm being!"
The trio timidly nod at Doyenne in acceptance, growing silent to listen to the obvious follow up.
Doyenne rolls her eyes and sighs while her tone's intensity lessens a little. "The four of us we'll go through the usual. Pay cuts. Had we brought a few Lacertas as prisoners to collect their reward, it would've been better." The femme alters her concentration to Suta as vague gratitude is presented by her grin. "Though I'm sure you didn't have in mind saving my friends when you entered the Lacertas' ship they were inside, I appreciate that you chose not to indiscriminately destroy it like you had done with the others."
Suta simply smirks at Doyenne as he wields his left hand within his pocket.
Eve does a fast double-take from Doyenne to Suta, having angled herself sideways ahead of Fey to do so, while internally debating the detail concerning the gem.
Right when Eve mustered the courage to discuss the subject, Virgil passively travels toward Doyenne to station his constitution near her, although respecting her space, and politely remarks, "I'm Virgil Vigil. Thank you for helping us. We have no clue what we would've done if you hadn't offered to take us in." The glasses-endowed individual extends his right hand to Doyenne.
Doyenne depicts Virgil's appendage as she pauses until reciprocating his action via her own right hand and reverts her vision to the Caucasian's face. "Hello. You may call me Doyenne. I'm in charge of the spacecraft Virago and its crew."
Virgil gently shakes Doyenne's hand before registering a rough texture from its backside amidst glimpsing at it while discovering the gem embedded there as he restrains his urge to react.
Concurrently, Suta watches Doyenne's outstretched limb too, interest gingerly reflected by his demeanor, prior to commandeering his gaze to her eyes. "Excuse me, but I'm confident you're just itching to ask me something in specific."
Doyenne mounts her attention to Suta once more and nods with seriousness. "Indeed. The second I saw you, the question of what you are has filled my head."
Virgil partially diverts his body to observe Suta as he relinquished his hold of Doyenne's hand so he can lower his appendage.
Suta bluntly rebuttals while emanating a carefree personality. "The Legendary Star. That's who I am. Though my name's Suta Hoshino now."
Silence completely consumes the Bridge with the Victress' members gawking at Suta in disbelief, saved Doyenne since she anticipate that to be the case and merely persists her focus towards the poncho-wearing guy.
Suta scans his surroundings with amusement. "You all might think I'm lying or are processing the stuff I did against the Lacertas, hoping to rationalize how I accomplished it by any other probable method." He points his concentration to the enormous monitor. "Maybe I oughta' give additional proof? Plus, it will be convenient for your trip."
Doyenne exhibits a hint of skepticism as she cocks her head left. "Explain."
Suta nudges his head forth. "Watch the screen. That's all."
Everyone comply with Suta's instruction while immediately discerning the forming of a gigantic wormhole, baffling Virago's passengers.
Simultaneously, the Mensians also witness the anomaly popping up, their lanky, grey figures contrasting the indigo, leather-material spacesuits they have on and are reminiscent of cavemen, as the race all emit distress.
Suta, not letting hysteria get to everybody else in the Bridge, nonchalantly speaks with his eyesight towards them. "Chill, folks. That's our ticket out of this galaxy. Don't do anything meaningless."
Before a dispute could be made, the wormhole sucks Virago into it as the Mensians' armada met the same fate during that. Eventually, the collection of crafts reach a new region of space while the Bounty Hunters, Mensians and Virgil are dumbfounded as they attempt to determine their location.
After a brief period, Tessa blurts out with surprise, "We're in the Trigus' territory! So bizarre! First, we're inside the Magellanic Cloud, then suddenly taken to an unknown galaxy and now we're here!"
Doyenne shifts her vision to Suta, having her head straightened, while urgently inquiring, "You can create wormholes?!"
Suta plainly shakes his head. "No, I manipulate them. Big difference. Only problem is that I don't know where they all lead and many of them are scattered through the universe randomly."
Fey delivers a stern look towards Suta. "Signifying that you aren't the source of them existing and placement."
Gabriela shows suspicion, planting both hands onto her hips. "Wait, if you're not positive where a wormhole take things, you left our life in the hands of chance! We could've been thrown into a Black Hole or something!"
Suta chuckles and sincerely utters, "It's possible."
The entire group, including Virgil, drop their jaws as they are stunned.
Doyenne swipes her hands to separate directions while profusely exhaling to settle her nerves with her eyes closed until viewing everyone again, putting her arms down. "The important part is that we're safe. Also, we're finally familiar with our general position." The dame solely observes Suta as she narrows the gap between her and him to be a meter away. "Alright, you're the Legendary Star. It's impossible to doubt, even though I'm unable to figure out how you being one correlates to controlling wormholes."
Suta hoists his right hand next to his face to temporarily wave his index finger. "That's part of my charm. I'm full of mysteries."
In the meantime, Eve has her attention to Suta and thinks with a somber attitude, "How ironic. I didn't believe the legend was true." She navigates her eyes to Doyenne while maintaining her thought process. "What bothers is that whole gem thing. I'm confident he and the redhead noticed Doyenne's hand, however, neither mentioned it. It's fishy." Eve soon brings her concentration back to Suta as she questions with intrigue and criticism mixed together, "So, what's basically the limit to your wish granting?" The tanned chick glares. "I ask 'cause it's clear you can't help every person in need. Is it whoever catches you? Assuming that's how it is, does your captor have three wishes?"
Suta demonstrates a slightly disgruntled behavior after applying his focus upon Eve. "You're confusing me with leprechauns and genies. Use some common sense and search around for the info regarding me. I've lived for a very long time. Hence the persistence of several extraterrestrial civilizations, and even humans, wanting to find me." Arrogance plagues the teal-eyed male. "Side note: I got the power to make any wish into a reality. The Rules of Existence are what interfere with my involvements."
Marie abruptly joins the conversation as she stands at her post, worry emanating. "Que cosas! Aren't you similar to a god?! Nothing should be able to stop you!"
Suta steers his gaze to Marie while indifference is established. "I'm a star, not God. I die and decay like you do. I just last more than the majority of living things."
Hearing Suta's words, the Victress members and Virgil become quiet, tension building up, prior to Eve trying to resume the discussion, however, Lita firmly interrupts with her sights toward Doyenne. "We're receiving two requests for communication."
Doyenne rapidly draws her vision onto Lita as she asks in a substantially commanding voice, "From who?"
Lita instantly answers while reading her screen. "The Mensians and... Earth 03."
Doyenne hastily alters her concentration to Virgil, switching her conduct to portray a laid-back demeanor. "Your home?"
Virgil displays curiosity amidst elevating his left eyebrow. "Yeah. Isn't it yours as well?"
Doyenne refrains from replying and deviates her focus to Lita. "Let's do a nosedive. We'll ignore the Mensians. They probably wanna' pester us and I think we oughta' spare our new friends of the hassle." The brunette views the duo again with a kind grin. "Correct?"
The two guys smile before Virgil inquires as he forgets about his previous question, "What will you do with the contact from Earth?"
Doyenne momentarily shuts her eyes while veering herself to confront the immense monitor. "We'll accept it. They must be really concerned over your condition." The young lady calmly watches the screen. "Put up the image, Lita."
With Lita easily complying, both Virgil's uncle and mother are shown as the former begins his introduction until registering his nephew's presence while astonishment surfaces.
Not allowing her brother to express himself, Mrs. Vigil shouts to her son, getting in the way of Captain Harper, as she's fairly distraught, "Virgil, you're okay! I was losing my mind over here!"
Virgil gingerly laughs at the redhead female. "It's fine, mom. Me and Anemone are in one piece."
Harper yanks the blue-eyed woman from his path via both hands gripping her shoulder while issuing his sister an agitated personality. "I told you to hold back, Kairi! I got to do my job!" He instills his attention on the Victress members. "I'm grateful to you for ensuring Trainee Vigil and Pilot Misaki. We're in your debt."
Doyenne briefly drives her sight to Suta, keying onto the fact that he wasn't addressed, and is encompassed by suspicion prior to placing her vision towards Harper once more. "Glad to be of assistance, sir. How shall we arrange their return to you? Earth 03 is a long way from our current position."
Harper sternly nods. "You make a good point. We must discover a planet that would benefit both ends to meet. Continue your present course and our side will calculate the most prominent spot. You'll obtain word from us within the hour."
Doyenne passively retorts. "Sounds like a plan. Solely know that our ship requires a pit stop pretty soon. We're going to have a break at the next planet we come across."
Harper inhales as his eyes wander, exhibiting that he's contemplating the circumstance over, before locking his concentration with Doyenne again. "Understood. Attempt to minimize your stay, please. It's imperative our people are brought home in the least amount of time spent."
Doyenne gives Harper a halfhearted smirk. "We'll try. The life of Bounty Hunters isn't a walk in the park."
Virgil suddenly intervenes, attaining everyone's focus, while wielding an air of confidence. "Uncle Tate- I mean Captain Harper, I have something important to tell you."
Harper pauses for a second until radiating a professional attitude. "You and Misaki will be debriefed when you come back. We'll talk about whatever you're referring to then."
Virgil slouches a tad with mild depression dwelling inside him. "Alright, sir."
Harper emits a sad smile prior to his image vanishing from the main monitor, Kairi waving goodbye to Virgil behind her brother in the process.
Eve observes Virgil out of the corner of her eyes since she's confronting the tremendous screen and possess her right hand upon her sword's hilt as she utters with a touch of sarcasm, "Cute family you got."
Virgil neglects Eve's comment as he views Suta, a serious conduct established. "We oughta' let Anemone know what happened. Warning you now, she might threaten us with death for bailing on her." The teen starts walking towards the entrance.
Suta navigates himself according to follow Virgil while casually quipping, "Not as if she couldn't look around and find us."
Doyenne abruptly states, containing her left hand extended toward the duo thanks to having commandeered her being in their direction, "Pardon me, Suta. Could you remain here for a minute?" The grey-eyed character descends her hoisted appendage. "Virgil, you may go ahead."
Both lads halt their progression with Virgil several steps in front of Suta and set their sight towards Doyenne at the same time.
Eventually, Suta grins as he cheerfully declares, "Sorry, but I'm not in the mood to keep chatting about stuff with you. We'll focus on your other questions someday." The gentleman steers his attention toward Eve. "That goes for you too."
Doyenne quickly veers her gaze to Eve, bewilderment engulfing her.
Meanwhile, Suta persists his departure from the Bridge with Virgil now trailing behind him, compliments of his intrigue compelling the spiky-haired guy to watch the Victress members a little more.
Seeing the pair leave, Eve senses Doyenne staring at her while hesitantly aiming her vision to the pale chick.
Doyenne tilts her head left and commences to brush her hair with her western limb as she menacingly inquires, "Wish to enlighten me on what that was about, Eve?"
Nervousness consumes Eve as she gradually retreats while lifting her right hand near her face to point its palm at Doyenne. "Rain check."
Doyenne's eyes grow cold. "It technically doesn't rain in space."
Eve's jaw hangs, speechless, until hurriedly turning away via going left while breaking into a desperate dash and reaches ten meters from her previous station. To her dismay, the jacketed dame witnesses her feet off the floor as Eve's entire body is floating and flails wildly amidst yelling fearfully, "No, Doyenne! Show mercy!"
Doyenne sustains her recent behavior, possessing her right arm stretched forward with its left counterpart's middle finger perched atop the aqua gem inserted to the eastern hand. "Depends, Eve. You comprehend how things are. Trust is a mayor deal for me."
*Scene Change*
Anemone brims an angry demeanor with her eyes glued to Virgil and Suta as they are in one of the halls Virago owns, which all ultimately connect to the Bridge. "You two have some nerve! It's bad enough we're relying on these Bounty Hunters, but ditching me is beyond messed up! If we weren't in space right now, I'd bury you alive!"
Virgil, poised towards Suta's left as both males confront Anemone, shifts his concentration to the teal-eyed individual with a bland personality. "What did I say?"
Suta nods while viewing Virgil, an amused expression demonstrated. "Not that I didn't believe you. What threw me was how she only told us to follow her when we met her at the other hallway. I thought you had underestimated her and she was gonna' take the high road for the time-being. Either that, or kill us and hide the corpses."
Virgil remarks after chuckling, "Oh, I bet she mauled it over at first. She must've weighed her options to the extent that it made her head hurt."
Anemone glares at Virgil amidst clenching her hands and thinks, "Why do I like him again?! He's always teasing me in these types of settings!" She soon composes herself while stating with a firm conduct emanating, "Anyway, that irritating mechanic said for me to bring you jackasses here once I found you. She refused to let me know why, however."
Then, to solve the mystery plaguing the three characters, a shy, feminine voice reverberates from behind the young men. "Uh... The purpose is to give you a room..."
The trio swiftly draw their focus to the source, discovering a fair-skinned, cute, teenage girl with short, frilly, dirty blonde hair as she wields light brown eyes. In addition, the timid-looking femme is wearing a sleeveless, white/blue striped shirt that fits well with her notably large breasts, a blue skirt and sneakers that match her complete apparel.
After a few seconds, Anemone delivers a suspecting attitude towards the chick while moving pass Virgil and Suta to be closer than them to her. "That so? What's the use? We won't remain with your group for too long anyway."
The dame nods, twiddling her thumbs with her appendages situated at her stomach. "Yes, although Doyenne hopes to grant you a bit of a respite. Perhaps have a nap. Everyone's been through a big ordeal. Rest is extremely necessary."
Suta cocks his head towards the right, curiosity enveloping him, and is currently facing the fair-skinned person. "You're the girl from the far, top, left corner, beside the twin-tailed blonde."
The teenager instantly blushes, detaining her fingers' mobility, as she feverishly stutters, "Y-You n-notice m-me?!"
Virgil switches his attention back to Suta, having also directed his constitution towards the blonde, while moderately embarrassed. "Good eye and memory. I had no clue she was there whatsoever."
The young lady specifies her sight to Virgil, relieving a little of the tension ailing her, and weakly smirks. "That's normal. I contain a talent of going unseen by others. It's because of that I was selected to contend with recon work."
Suta exhibits an impressed behavior as he maneuvers around Anemone while depleting the gap from the girl to leave a mere inch of room. "Whoa! The humans in this craft sure are diverse, both physically and skill-wise! I'd love to hear more about you all!"
The skirt-endowed individual's shyness escalates due to how near Suta is to her. "I-I could let you in o-on some d-details..."
Suta abruptly snatches the teen's hands with his own, significantly startling her, and wholeheartedly exclaims, "Thank you so much! What's your name?! That way I know who to be continuously grateful for the info! Plus, it's an importing thing to be aware of!"
The female briefly hesitates prior to responding with faint glee depicted. "I'm Mamori."
Suta shuts his eyes as he grins. "Mamori! It's saved into my mind!" He laughs a tad until reverting his gaze to the bashful character. "We'll chat immediately!" Suta hastily checks his surroundings, relinquishing his left hand's grip of Mamori's right limb, and discerns the multiple doors spread along the walls. "Do we get to pick our quarters?!"
Anemone folds her arms while vaguely displaying defiance. "We better receive separate accommodations. At least I oughta'."
Mamori navigates her vision to Anemone and tries to portray assurance. "Certainly. Virago has 55 bedrooms in total. Our group comprises of 50, so there are choices for each of you."
Anemone quickly commandeers herself to possess her rear towards Mamori as she begins journeying down the hall while sternly commenting, "Excellent! Let's go! No point standing about, idiotically!"
Concern rapidly encompasses Mamori while gesturing her right hand with its index finger erected towards the ceiling. "Um, but we're already next to the available rooms..."
Anemone promptly ceases her progression, stiffening her being from getting flustered, before concentrating upon Mamori via angling her head to the right.
Virgil chuckles and questions in a taunting way, "Who's stupid exactly?"
Anemone confronts Virgil as she grits her teeth with her posture slump forth a bit.
Concurrently, Suta smiles out of enjoyment prior to sensing something while showing a solemn demeanor as he gingerly peers at the ceiling, his eyes mostly wandering.
Virgil keys on Suta's action and becomes mildly worried. "You okay, Suta?"
Suta nods without looking at Virgil as a knowing smirk is formed while muttering amidst directing his focus onward, "Another wish to make come true."
