Episode 28: Scheming Minds
*Starting Scene*
Having gone to Virago due to the Syndicate's retreat, the Lt. Colonel is led by Virgil and Anemone into the brown craft's hangar. Once he's opened up his jet to gaze at his surroundings, currently not wearing his helmet, the male discerns a space pod next to him as he discerns Harper discussing with Oxford and a few of the Victress mechanics before registering his brother-in-law smirking at the pilot.
Suddenly, Kairi appears towards the Lt. Colonel's left via leaping onto the gold machine as she happily blurts out with tears in her eyes, "Orian!" She immediately embraces and kisses her husband on the lips all in a single action.
Despite normally being delighted to see Kairi, the Lt. Colonel desperately strives to remain seated because of his lack of anticipating his wife's lunge, which has him teetering towards the vehicle's western side. Afterwards, to prevent himself and the glasses-wearing woman from plummeting towards the floor, the Caucasian quickly pulls Kairi into the cockpit while sitting her onto his lap in a marital style. Doing that, Orian retracts his lips from his wife's to deliver a smirk with minor exasperation noted. "We could've taken a nasty spill just now."
Kairi seductively looks at the Lt. Colonel while caressing his left cheek via her right hand, softly responding, "It's been a long time since we've laid together, dear. What's a little pain, if it means we get that opportunity as fast as possible."
The Lt. Colonel shakes his head, strengthening his hold of Kairi, and whispers with his mouth inches from the gorgeous woman's, "Don't let Virgil hear you say that. It would traumatize him."
Kairi giggles. "Like I'd ever make such a horrendous mistake."
Virgil's voice unexpectedly resounds from the nearby helmet's microphone, a disgruntled tone portrayed. "But that doesn't signify that dad wouldn't..."
The couple hurriedly set their sights to the object, situated towards Orian's left, as they're profoundly baffled.
Virgil, possessing Jet 4 adjacent to his father's space craft, puts his helmet down via his left hand while rising from his seat as Alpha's in its ferret form and scurries along his constitution. Eventually, the teenager glances at the animal upon its arrival to his right shoulder prior to concentrating on Anemone by steering himself left sufficiently. "Let's permit my parents some alone time, okay? It'd do all of us good."
Anemone faintly laughs amidst peering at Virgil, having yet stood up, and nods.
Soon after, the duo leave the crimson machine as they temporarily converse with the mechanics, Harper and Oxford while Kairi scolds Orian about his negligence. This doesn't last much though, compliments of Virago's power haphazardly halting its production and blankets everyone in darkness. At the same time, the assortment of people attempt to gain a decent depiction of their surroundings while many are fairly alarmed.
Virgil's on the urge of expressing his thoughts concerning the present circumstance, although is distracted by Alpha randomly expelling an aqua light. Not only that, the Deltas initially helping Orian in combat generate a great radiance while perched atop the gold jet's wings.
A whining voice promptly echoes throughout Virago's confines, all of the passengers to listen, while Doyenne is immediately aware of what's happening as she's stationed at the Bridge with Eve, Fey and Gabriela. Thanks to that, urgency consumes the pale dame as she hastily comments with sternness exhibited, "We're in trouble! The 3rd Most Wanted in the Universe, Exca, has infiltrated our ship!" Doyenne lowers her head, a bit of dismay surfacing, and depressingly utters, "And I have no idea how we're to fight it. He's untouchable by any ordinary means."
Eve and the others are dumbfounded, barely managing to stare at Doyenne within the black that ails them.
Without warning, Exca cries in panic as Doyenne's compelled to shift her attention upward, confused, and mumbles, "Why's he acting out? Nothing oughta' be challenging him."
Exca unintentionally answers Doyenne's curiosity via desperately shouting, "S-Sorry! It was a mistake that I came here! Blame the guy who's making me do this! You know I'd never go against you, Legendary Star!"
Doyenne gradually demonstrates a pleased smirk. "Oh, yeah. We have Suta and his amazing abilities. No worries then."
Following that, Alpha jumps off Virgil's shoulder while the multiple Deltas soar around the vicinity and slowly travels to the heart of the room.
Watching the ferret, Harper's astonished until switching his focus to Virgil, who's poised at his left with a little space separating them, and inquires while trying to restrain himself, "Is it, really?"
Virgil views his uncle out of the corner of his eyes as he hesitantly rebuttals. "Well... Technically... Yes."
Harper's jaw drops before reverting his vision to Alpha, having ceased its mobility to sit upright while intently observing the ceiling area with the aqua gems circling it.
Registering Alpha's conduct, Exca becomes upset and exclaims in a demonic manner, "DON'T BE JUDGING ME! I CAN TELL THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND I HATE IT!"
Alpha's eyes glisten as the Deltas rapidly shoot towards the region that the ferret's depicting, sinking into the ceiling with no damage implemented.
Exca instantly screams in agony while obligated to relinquish its infection of Virago, leading to the craft turning back on.
Alpha refuses to let things end there and slips through the floor via entering an intangible state.
Anemone shows fear as she mildly departs from Virgil, standing towards her right, and frantically yells, "Cutie!"
Virgil issues Anemone a dull look. "His name's Alpha, Anemone. Plus, you're freaking out for no reason. He's a part of Suta. He'll return."
Anemone replaces her attitude with substantial embarrassment displayed, sustaining her sight to where Alpha previously resided. "Oh... Right."
*Scene Change*
During the period of the recent battle involving their forces, the Global Defense Academy's Board of Directors have gathered together to discuss many details. One specific subject they're touching on is about their expectations of the fight with the Taurians as malice can be noted by the uniformed adults. This is because of them actually hoping for the death of certain folks, their tolerance reaching their limits.
Solidifying that sentiment, the blonde woman among the members who's sitting in front of the lone giant screen remarks in a snarky method, "Once Lt. Colonel Vigil is done in, we will have less of a problem with the reigns over our pawns! A lot of them respect him more than they do us! It makes my skin crawl! It is such an atrocity, despite how useful he has always been!"
The dark-skinned man towards the female's right chimes with animosity brimming, "There's also Captain Harper! Both must be disposed of! Their righteousness is a massive hindrance to our order!"
The German General calmly communicates from his usual spot, fiddling with his right hands' fingers amidst eyeing them ahead of himself. "Yes, yes. We have already put that into motion when it comes to Vigil. Harper shall fall shortly. Enough with the ranting and raving." The long-haired fellow fixes his concentration towards his colleagues, vaguely descending his elevated limb. "The most important objective is dealing a huge blow to the Taurians with the current battle. It shall allow us to curry favor with the Galactic Government further. At the end of it all, it is impossible that they would not reward us with a higher standing in their regime."
The rest of the characters nod prior to the large monitor shuts down without warning, immediately gaining the Board of Directors' attention while causing some concern to be summoned. This results in the grey-haired man, Jefferson, to swiftly try bringing the screen back on, however, to no avail as stress mixes into his behavior while gazing towards the General. "It seems there is no power!"
The French guy known as Durand haphazardly blurts out, "Impossible! Our supply is endless, especially with all of the contingency plans we have!"
The brown-eyed femme called Banks adds, presenting a moderately stern demeanor, "And nobody could ever hack the system with the high grade protection implemented. If any attempts were even made, we would be informed instantly."
Terror abruptly encompasses the collection of individuals due to listening to a distraught cry reverberate around them, provoking them in urgently searching the vicinity. Ultimately, the brown-haired German resets his focus to his companions upon remembering a specific fact while seriousness plagues him. "This is bad. The being that the Galactic Government frets over the most is involving itself with our plane of existence."
The members of the board silently gawk at the General with confusion radiating until the dark-skinned person politely asks, "Are you referring to the number 1 criminal?" He leans towards the German, suspicion established, as both of his arms are draped atop the table. "I did not know you were aware of who that nuisance to the universe is."
The long-haired gentleman solely watches the husky adult, retaining his conduct. "I must apologize. I had forgotten that none of you are in on the secret. I spoke automatically."
The officials glimpse at each other from learning that there is something they contain no knowledge of before intently observing the blue-eyed human, awaiting further explanation.
The German effortlessly notices that while narrowing his eyes, showing a cold attitude in conclusion. "It is unnecessary of me to divulge that Intel to you, however. That is the main reason I am sorry. Just be aware that my refusal is through obligations, not because I wish to keep you all in the dark."
Everyone else within the room are briefly stunned, although eventually accept the General's words since they trust him so much. Afterwards, they resume their analysis of the confines, compliments of the earlier voice they heard delivering another vocalization to reflect its turmoil.
The blonde chick promptly complains amidst covering her ears, staring at the ceiling, "What is with the yelling?! I feel like I will go insane if it continues!"
The General somberly utters towards the attractive dame, "Unfortunately, we cannot do anything to stop him in our current situation. We are already caught inside his clutches, meaning no one in Earth 03 has the capability to fend him off." He deviates his vision upward. "It is exactly how the Galactic Government told me. They were correct in not pursuing him or this would have occurred sooner. What leaves me curious is the purpose behind this. Why is he acting out now? What threatened him to neglect his hate for interacting with us?"
The nearby associates grow quiet again, uncertainty enveloping them.
Following a couple of seconds without dialogue, the brown-haired character drops his sight to a Rolex-styled watch he has hidden under his uniform's left sleeve as he whispers, "I shall strive to contact them. Better to waste time on that than simply sitting here, wondering. With some luck, I can reach them and reveal what is transpiring. They may be oblivious of our circumstance. If they are not, then they are making their move whichever way it suits them." The guy chuckles. "I must investigate this. It has the potential to push us towards the point they have been anticipating."
*Scene Change*
Exca persists its spreading through the whole universe, affecting a huge quantity of technology per the General's previous statement, and practically renders every method of communication useless as Andrews' team are frantically working to overcome the infestation. During that, the Lieutenant brims worry from his post, repetitively typing to attain any details he can about Harper's side because of him having been monitoring his superior's predicament throughout their separation. Suddenly, Andrew's concentration is disrupted by the undetectable entity's crying as that incites frustration from him while slamming his hands onto the keys, shouting in the process.
The crew temporarily look at Andrews with sympathy prior to returning to their task in restoring their system, despite how fruitless it is.
Andrews quickly plants his back against his seat, sighing out of agitation while depicting the blank display of his screen, and perches both hands upon his cranium as he gingerly comments, "Son of a bitch..." The male swaps his tone to demonstrate sarcasm. "Gotta' love it when your training does jack to fix stuff..." Andrews becomes a bit depressed as he dangles his arms at their respective sectors. "Makes it seem totally meaningless..." The fellow pauses, portraying a pensive expression with his head lowered, until Exca's constant screaming pushes Andrews to his wits' end and exclaims once he removes himself from sitting down while peering skyward, "Hey! Whoever's yelling, put a lid on it! I'm trying to go for a dramatic effect and you aren't helping!"
The dark-skinned female besides Andrews' left restrains herself from laughing, viewing the fellow out of the corner of her eyes. "You sure picked a bad time for that." She inspects the surroundings while folding her arms together. "The noise obviously isn't coming from one of ours. It has to be the enigma that's interfering with our machines. We're probably not its only target." The petite lady administers her attention to Andrews again, a sad grin exhibited. "We should've told Captain Harper that we were keeping an eye on him. He could've given us specifics that we can't ascertain without speaking to anybody from his group. My instincts are telling me that whatever we're dealing with is connected to them in some shape or form."
Andrews, focusing onward during his comrade's speech, blandly says once he has the chance, "Perhaps. Sucks that we didn't, but what's done is done." The Lieutenant smirks as he locks eyes with the chick, fishing for something in his pants' right pocket via the appendage of that region. "At least we've managed to prevent the Board of Directors from finding out, like Cap. wanted us to do." Andrews steadily fishes out a small, black contraption and gestures it a little. "Plus, with this, we've recorded the board's conversations to know their schemes. All thanks to Cap. thinking so ahead." He veers his vision towards the object. "I'm going to check if there's an update. They could be freaking out from the cybernetic attack, saved the General of course. He always sustains his cool, comparable to a major villain. It fits him, really."
Several crew members sharply nod, still working on solving the present problem, as the blonde with the dark complexion sitting next to Andrews quips in an amused tone, "Marvelous deduction, Sherlock."
Andrews chuckles and shuts his eyes while partially dropping his head, however, soon draws his gaze back to the area in front of himself with a solemn personality emitted. With that, the adult carefully listens to the item inside his right appendage, having stationed it close to his eastern ear, as he ultimately discovers a few important pieces of data from the Board of Directors. This leads to Andrews demeanor growing fierce and stops the recorder from playing further while descending his right hand towards his lap as he keys onto the woman positioned at his left.
The uniformed femme gives off a fearful behavior, retracting herself from Andrews a tad. "What?"
Andrews hurriedly retorts. "Those bastards are basically begging to be killed by me!"
*Scene Change*
Rushing through each system it comes across, Exca's screaming doesn't subside due to a batch of Deltas tormenting it via relentlessly assaulting the entity in the digital whelm Exca is infecting. While that happens, the criminal desperately pleads as Exca engulfs every bit of information without paying much mind, "Stop it! Leave me alone! I'm sorry!"
A couple of the Deltas chasing Exca blitz towards the anomaly from opposing sections at a diagonal angle, producing a grand sum of aura upon entering its shadowy figure. This concludes with Exca crying in pain, considering that some of its constitution was annihilated from the radiance, as a few of the gems trailing speed through the enigma to cause more damage.
Exca's agony increases while commencing to slow down its progression. "Please, have mercy! You know all I want is companionship! That's why I'm doing this!"
The Deltas refuse to falter and persist their onslaught, splitting Exca apart to the extent of it detaining its expansion. In spite of that, the criminal's effect to the technology it infiltrated continues, rendering a vast amount of the universe helpless. Not long after, Alpha appears within the cybernetic world, floating towards Exca's fragments from above, while intently observing them.
Exca witnesses Alpha's existence as it whimpers in a low volume, "Why...? Why don't you grant my wish...? I don't understand..."
Alpha eventually lands its paws onto a piece of Exca, provoking the elimination of it, before leaping towards another to do the same to it.
Exca immediately shouts in its demonic tone, striving to tolerate the pain coursing through it, "ANSWER ME!"
Suta's voice echoes from Alpha amidst the fuzzy creature repetitive movement with callousness represented. "I've explained it to you countless times. Your desire is too shallow, ironically. I'm done with such tedious requests. I gave you the opportunity to do it yourself and you've wasted it. Here are the consequences of pestering me."
Exca reverts to its pitiful attitude while Alpha has disposed of a substantial quantity of its foundation. "But I was doing that! Crest Callahan said he would-"
Suta bluntly cuts Exca off with the Deltas assisting Alpha in the entity's destruction. "And that's where you screwed up. The significance to you accomplishing it alone was for you to improve from your childish mentality. You're a greater being with a horrible conduct. In your case, relying on others to reach your goal enables that crappy behavior. It could solely transgressed by you meeting an individual like Crest."
Exca defensively rebuttals, although doesn't alter his manner of talking much. "What's wrong with that?! I use him and he uses me! It's a mutual exchange!"
Suta momentarily sighs out of agitation prior to declaring, "Neither of you needs to though! That's precisely the issue! You can do it without aid and Crest always had what it took to achieve his dream!"
Exca hastily inquires, arrogance mixed in, "Then why did he ask for my help, huh?!"
Suta harshly utters, "He's human! He made a mistake in wanting assistance from something so whiny!"
Exca's profoundly shocked, however, snaps out of it because of a Delta striking a sensitive spot that invokes a huge scream from the anomaly.
Suta confidently chuckles. "Finally found the center of your nebula! Your definitive weak point! You should've stayed in your safe zone!"
Exca becomes frantic and attempts to escape from Alpha, although it's too late as the Deltas bombard that specific region while expelling a tremendous amount of aura.
Suta soon adds with no difference to his speech pattern, "Anyway, Crest has his friends and me to fall back on! I may owe my life to your kind, but I won't forfeit my beliefs to you 'cause of that!"
Alpha emanates an incredible blast from it that easily overtakes the majority of Exca, eradicating its consciousness, as the remnants are brought under Suta's control. Following that, silence haunts the digital whelm, and yet, that doesn't mean it is freed from danger as the aqua-colored essence that defeated Exca begins expanding at a rapid rate so it could finish the shadowy figure's job.
*Scene Change*
The Cosmos Redshift 7, the brightest distant galaxy, is the last place to be invaded by Exca before suffering its defeat. This is important since it's where the planet Sovereignty resides, the high-technological globe that the Galactic Government had selected for their base of operations. Because of that, nobody except its members currently inhabit Sovereignty and have the biggest armed force in the universe protecting it from all physical attacks. Also, the government possesses the best defense system that would normally dispatch of any cybernetic assaults with no trouble. Unfortunately, there is exactly one threat the group is aware of that could bypass their preparations, compelling the Galactic Government to do everything they can to ensure its lack of interest in targeting them.
At the moment, inside an enormous skyscraper poised towards the west of numerous structures resembling it, the main officials of the Galactic Government have gathered thanks to Exca hindering their resources, terrifying the personnel. With that, it instantly becomes notable that the collection of different species of extraterrestrials are located in a giant, courtroom as the many rush to the seating organized from the reinforced entrance way. Simultaneously, the nine leaders of the faction sit at the elongated Bench towards the front of the members, guarded by security.
Eventually, a masculine Draconis stationed at the middle of its colleagues demands the crowd to be quiet in its native language, the folks having continually stressed over the feared enemy's infestation during their trip to the room.
The assortment promptly heed its order while awaiting for the humanoid dragon to keep on speaking.
The Draconis directs its attention to the rest of the leaders, determining if they comprehend that Exca is clearly serving someone else's desire to be going after them now. Once it obtains confirmation through a firm nod from its allies, the creature readies itself to convey its thoughts towards the associates, however, a mighty explosion destroys the lone door while multiple soldiers are propelled into the court's confines as they were left outside to fend off any oncoming intruders.
Everyone gawk at the soaring bodies, some landing upon a few of the members, until a single round enters the courtroom and erupts when it hits the aisle that extends towards the Bench. Right after, the shockwave that's quickly forged from the ammunition blowing up shoves the extraterrestrials into each other as several are wounded.
The nine characters in charge are alarmed as a couple desperately rise from their chairs, preparing to run away, while the security situated themselves onward to shield the leaders with handgun-styled blasters fixed forward.
Sprinting through the haze that the first explosion crafted to be submerged within the second, Callahan swiftly shoots his Benelli Black Eagle Shotgun towards the left. Then, with a third eruption occurring while the afflicted scream in agony, the young man switches his weapon's aim to the right precisely as he hid himself and launches his fourth strike. Accomplishing that, Callahan persists his advance to confront the security and is receives a grand assault from them firing their combat tools. To the opponent's dismay, the indigo-eyed lad isn't fazed by the barrage, pointing the Black Eagle forth at a slightly lowered angle with only his right hand.
While the aliens try to react, one of the guards registers Callahan assembling a Glock 18 in his western appendage that's horizontally hoisted to its corresponding side.
Callahan soon implements a fifth, explosive round that completely blots the adversaries' vision and follows it up with a well placed bullet onto four of the extraterrestrials' skull, who are at the corners of their defensive line, via directing the Glock accordingly. Amidst the splattering of the foes' blood, the Irish reaches the security clustered in the middle of him and the Galactic Government's leaders as he positions himself within the smokescreen he recently created.
A second batch of shots from the Glock are immediately delivered, although a handful of the guards managed to evade due to utilizing their additional senses in detecting Callahan's action. This comes with its consequences though as the security who dodged failed to realize that they put the individuals in charge at risk, compliments of them sitting behind the blaster-wielding entities. Luckily for the leaders, the Bench's height has them barely out of the projectiles' range while getting heavily pelted, resulting in its metallic composition to gain countless dents.
Callahan exits the small fog as he shoves the characters towards his right via swinging the shotgun and fires at the security beside his left with the Glock, injuring them enough to guarantee a decent reprieve from their efforts. Afterwards, the coated gentleman navigates his western weapon towards the Draconis and seemingly attempts to kill it.
The Draconis doesn't show a shred of concern, confident of its tough exterior, prior to finding out that Callahan isn't actually aiming the Glock towards the scale-owning official via depicting the two aliens next to it being shot, twice. Because of that, the humanoid dragon is briefly bewildered as it's splatted by the interior gunk that formerly comprised the duo beside it.
Concurrently, the pair standing from their chair panic while striving to escape via both containing the capability of flight, one having the appearance of a fly and the other resembling a crow.
Witnessing that, Callahan nonchalantly intercepts the extraterrestrial from Corvus by lifting his right arm and releases a large flow of fire out of the K-Ton Hidden Flamethrower he has there, previously tossing the Black Eagle at the nearby guards to do so.
The Corvian is hurriedly incinerated by the fire as it horrifically screeches while the fly-like alien observes that with a frightened expression displayed before feverishly trying to increase its velocity towards the doorway.
Callahan suddenly plants his left foot backwards while dropping his right limb, pointing the Glock at the native of Musca in a sideways stance.
With Callahan on the verge of shooting, a security member makes an effort in interfering via using the Black Eagle its owner relinquished against him, however, nothing transpired when the guard pulled the trigger.
Meanwhile, Callahan launches the lone bullet he was readying and caught the Muscan at the back of its head, quickly concluding with the creature crashing onto the spectators as they are too stunned by the present event to leave. Doing that, the white-haired male draws his focus towards the individual who strove to attack him through turning his head westward while commenting in an emotionless tone, "My weapons don't work for anyone else unless I want them to."
The alien urgently attempts to strike Callahan's skull with the shotgun, enraged, until feeling an excruciating pain ail one of its feet, it wielding similarities to a lynx as the rest of the security share that structuring. The Lynxan then learns what is the cause once it diverts its concentration southward, which was a single shot embedding into the appendage from a Glock that Callahan summoned in his right hand while keeping his arm directed down.
Callahan hastily fires his left Glock towards the extraterrestrials in front of him, killing them all in no time, prior to steering his person sufficiently to shoot the chest of the fifth Galactic Government leader he has targeted since the coated guy noticed it sneakily moving.
The last two head officials grow tense, wondering if their demise will come next, while the guards poised at Callahan's right unleash a storm of ammunition that merely bounce off the criminal while the alien still carrying the Black Eagle struggles to involve itself due to its wound. This petrifies the remaining security as it dawns on them that there is no hope for victory.
Callahan promptly eliminates the Lynxans by use of the right Glock without looking at any of them, except the entity holding the Benelli and administers a bullet onto that extraterrestrial's gut via his left combat tool. Following that, the Irish gets rid of the weapon in his eastern hand's grip through it being dismantled, regains possession of the Black Eagle while driving its muzzle upon the Lynxan's face and blows off the entire head.
Thanks to the sight of that, the shocked associates are finally freed from their zoned out state as they vocalize their terror while scrambling towards the entrance/exit.
Not really caring about the folks' departure, Callahan hangs both arms beside their separate areas while confronting the surviving leaders with a cold stare.
The Draconis reciprocates Callahan's demeanor and is about to issue a remark.
Callahan interrupts the Draconis, his voice refraining to give even an ounce of hostility. "English, please. I know you're a master of all languages, so I won't bother whipping out a translator for you."
The Draconis momentarily clears its throat before solemnly uttering, "Crest Callahan... You utilized Exca to break in... I never imagined you would achieve such a thing..."
Callahan slants his head left a little, exhibiting a scrutinizing behavior. "Hence you dumb asses taking shelter in one location." He straightens his positioning with the screaming of the group rushing out of the courtroom fading away. "You become dependent of your lackeys, but you understand that they weren't protecting you from me. I've proven that to be true with the governments I assaulted in the past."
The Draconis nods. "I suspected your attacks had to do with collecting information. You questioned specific officials who were connected to me. The Syndicate could not help you with discovering my history. You are the type to go after somebody only if you have a valid reason. You would not put yourself through so much based on simple speculation." The scale-endowed creature stands with tenacity brimming. "The reality is that I am indeed responsible for the tragedies of your people! The one who invoked the devastating fate Earth 02's residents suffered by its brethren, Earth 03! All for the sake of obtaining the artificial star they made!"
Callahan demonstrates an unfazed attitude. "I figured."
The Draconis mildly laughs until controlling his volume to communicate in a snobbish manner. "Obviously. You would not have come here otherwise." It points its left limb towards Callahan. "You are playing the role of a tragic hero, desiring revenge."
Callahan bluntly replies. "Nah, so quit attempting to be the villain. Makes you look stupid."
The Draconis' eyes widen from disbelief, receding a tad.
