Episode 23: Beta's Vantage
*Starting Scene*
The pale man in charge of Earth 03's armada angrily inquires into his microphone because of the Lt. Colonel having grown silent following Suta's head exploding from contact with the silver sphere, "Hey, are you listening to me?! What was that noise I heard?! Did a shot land?!" He hurriedly glances at the floor, annoyance added, while reducing his volume a bit. "The hell am I asking?! With what the Taurians' ships are capable of, a single hit spells death!" The adult navigates his vision to his subordinates and sternly shouts, "Somebody here answer me instead! Is the Lt. Colonel done for?!"
One of the workers urgently rebuttals from the left region of the control room. "The signal of his jet remains detectable, so we at least know it isn't completely destroyed, sir!"
A furious scowl etches itself onto the muscular male as he snaps his attention to the primary display of the present combat transpiring in front of their group. "He's ignoring me again then!" The character steers his hazel eyes eastward while collecting a little of his composure. "Fine! If that's the way he wants it, we'll leave him without assistance! Let him prove how great he is when he doesn't have us to fall back on!"
A femme member of the crew quickly directs her gaze to the commanding officer while quite disturbed. "That would be cruel!"
The fellow callously glares at the woman. "That's the point! He has an awful habit of putting his opinion ahead of those with higher ranking!" He soon lifts his left hand to remove his microphone as a sinister grin forms, relaxing his tone in the process. "It's better that he winds up dead anyway. Just as the Board of Directors desire." The guy chuckles. "There's a reason more of the Taurians are in this area than we were told, actually. They need specific pawns to perish since they always have a tendency of contradicting them, like the Lt. Colonel and his troublesome brother-in-law. What best way to cover those ill intentions but to make it that his demise came from fighting for his people?"
Tension envelopes the nearby personnel, moderately baffled too thanks to the recent revelation.
Seeing the assortment of people's behavior, the leader eventually continues his speech while brimming fierceness. "Now, time to go!"
Another man injects himself into the conversation, poised next to the chick who expressed her discontent earlier, with minor hesitation exhibited. "Uh... How are we to do that though?"
The pale gentleman blandly looks at the individual until comprehending why he asked that and exclaims in a distraught manner, "Shit! I forgot we're stuck from our system getting attacked!" The commanding officer shifts his sight to the rest of his crew as seriousness surfaces. "We must rid ourselves of whoever is behind it, fast! Fix this issue before the Taurians decide to launch an assault!"
A second dame suddenly remarks from the upper left corner of the Bridge based on the male's perspective as she watches her monitor, "It appears that won't occur, sir! The Taurians' vessels have stopped their movements!"
The medal-wearing person deviates his concentration forth to verify if that is true, compliments of several of the Taurians' Standards being located there. Once he does that, the adult depicts that the enemy are simply floating in place with none of their artillery firing at any of Earth 03's forces as he mutters while plagued by astonishment, "Wait... Are they dealing with the same situation? That'd mean the source of this isn't aligned with them." He draws his focus to his comrades again and loudly speaks. "Communicate with the others! Considering that the Taurians are also affected, the range of the attackers has to be huge!"
Multiple members try complying with the leader's order, however, are surprised to discern that they can't reach their companions while blurting in unison, "Contact is blocked!"
The hazel-eyed fellow's greatly dumbfounded. "To that extent we've been hindered?! Who the hell is capable of that in such a small period?!"
*Scene Change*
The Syndicate's associates rapidly analyze a stream of data their screens are providing and emit bewilderment as one of the suited Italians comments, "This is incredible! Exca's allowing us visibility of his infestation! He's already overtaken 80% of Earth 03's armada!"
A Vulpes promptly states after nodding its head, "Yeah and the Taurians ain't too far either! What crazy speed!"
Whatley leisurely observes his crew with a smirk portrayed prior to veering his attention to a Terminator, which is the craft that's poised where Callahan's currently at. A moment later, the fedora-endowed guy witnesses a silver glimmer generating, informing him that Callahan is in the middle of battling, and gingerly laughs as he thinks, "That was easy. I knew that he'd pop up close to a Terminator since it holds the biggest challenge." Whatley demonstrates suspicion with his thoughts persisting. "But that shot wasn't gunning for it. What's got Crest's concentration that he's ignoring a freaking Terminator?"
Doyenne, viewing the positioning of that Terminator as well, keys onto an aqua light radiating a bit and grows concerned while mumbling, "Suta...? Don't tell me... You and Crest Callahan are..." She gradually advances to the front section of the control room.
Whatley notices Doyenne's journey upon her passing his left while curiosity is briefly established until firmly saying, "Whatever caught ya' eye, remember ya' job. Don't be a fool, believing Crest won't kill ya' 'cause he hasn't yet. Not many folks are lucky to even get this much time after chatting with him."
Doyenne halts her progression and clenches her hands into fists out of wrath, both dangling at their respective sides, amidst thinking, "So this was the purpose. He instantly realized that Suta's here and knew I'd try to interfere the second I figured that out too." Frustration commences to include itself as the beauty thinks, "It took me a while though! Damn!"
As Doyenne dwells within her mind, Callahan lowers both hands that are still gripping the Desert Eagle near the anterior of his waist following him blowing off Suta's head. Despite that, no solace is brought to the young man due to him registering that the upper part of Suta's constitution has become intangible via transforming into an aura, fluctuating a tad before rejoining.
The Lt. Colonel blankly stares at Suta while sustaining his head tilted rearward, his jaw hanging further from shock.
Not long after regaining his humanoid shape, Suta instills his vision on Callahan through turning clockwise to properly face the criminal. "Wanna' give it another go?"
Callahan temporarily watches Suta prior to abruptly hoisting the Desert Eagle towards his adversary's chest and fires a third sphere that provokes Suta's entire body to disperse. Then, the indigo-eyed lad detects the unprecedented creation of a wormhole behind him while hastily commandeering his head to obtain a good gaze of it.
Simultaneously, the Lt. Colonel has switched his focus to the wormhole as he frantically attempts to pull his jet away from it.
Suta's left arm is the first to regain its form and strongly drives its palm onto Callahan's abdomen during the Irish's distraction.
Because of that, Callahan's pushed into the wormhole while quite startled as he reverted his sight to Suta's present condition.
Suta's voice soon echos from the aura with sincerity notable. "Wait for me. I'll grant your wish in a little bit."
Callahan's rendered speechless as he disappears with the wormhole quickly shutting.
A few seconds later, Suta's whole again and is now angled sideways with his right towards the gold jet's rear. Promptly, the star observes the Terminator that the machine is on the verge of flying beneath thanks to the Lt. Colonel's initial effort of eluding the wormhole by steering the craft around.
The Lt. Colonel resets his attention onto Suta while depicting Omega, which previously was nothing but aura too, splitting its blade and profoundly surges to symbolize that a strike is at the ready.
As the gold jet arrives to the middle of the Terminator's hull, Suta nonchalantly swings Omega upward with a teal-colored beam sinking into it in no time until rapidly expanding to fully annihilate the enormous vessel. Following that, upon the Fighting Falcon exiting the explosion's radius, the shaggy-haired fellow drops his concentration to the Lt. Colonel while putting down the hand that contains Omega and smiles.
The Lt. Colonel can't help reciprocating Suta's action, confident that the mysterious character isn't an enemy from how he has continuously been defending the uniformed gentleman.
Suta swiftly alters his vision to the remaining Taurians' ships that are idly poised throughout the vicinity and softly remarks, "Exca oughta' be done with neutralizing all of the crafts, except this jet. I made sure of that." He specifies his gaze to the Syndicate's armada while fairly intrigued. "They must be in league with Crest Callahan, so he instructed Exca not to affect them." Suta scans the area again. "Their desires are of the same caliber as Earth 03's people. I shouldn't do more than what I already have. I mainly wished to secure this man's safety." The poncho-wearing Caucasian mounts his sight onto the Lt. Colonel.
The Lt. Colonel, currently striving to communicate with his allies as he holds his helmet close to his lips by use of his left hand, shows agitation while aware of where he's flying the jet. "Can anyone hear me?! I understand I was the first to begin ignoring you guys, but this isn't the moment to possess a grudge! Hello!" The adult grits his teeth, groaning somewhat, prior to smacking his helmet against the left sector of the cockpit. "Listen to me, bastards!" The Lt. Colonel ultimately tosses the object to the floor and sighs in defeat with his focus forward. "Nothing, huh? Well, I guess I'm going to have to physically check on them." He glances at the Taurians' fleet with a hint of scrutiny displayed. "For now, it seems we're at a standstill from the immobility that has haphazardly enveloped both sides.
Then, Suta moderately stomps his right foot upon the gold machine's reinforced glass to attain the Lt. Colonel's concentration. Afterwards, the young man calmly points Omega towards the Syndicate's vessels with his gaze maintained on the medal-endowed individual.
The Lt. Colonel immediately discerns the Syndicate's trajectory towards the battlefield while becoming quite irritated as he lightly utters, "What rotten luck...! Those are Syndicate ships! Why are they here?!" Worry eventually arises while the male yells, "Are they responsible for the viral attack?!"
Suta lowers his extended limb amidst contorting himself towards the Lt. Colonel, a solemn demeanor exhibited.
The Lt. Colonel locks eyes with Suta and briefly zones out as he thinks, "Feels like he's telling me something through expression alone."
Suta suddenly straighten himself before turning around to commence walking off the spacecraft's canopy in a lackadaisical manner. Once he passes the edge of the jet, the star plummets into a wormhole that he summoned not too far from the gold machine.
The Lt. Colonel witnesses Suta's departure via peeking over the left of his cockpit, awestruck. After that, the brown-haired fellow repairs his person and keeps soaring about while faintly saying, "I'll take that as him leaving things to me." He chuckles. "Not anything new in my life, really." The Lt. Colonel hurriedly registers the crimson jets of his companions journeying towards him from the rear while consumed by surprise. Right after that, the blue-eyed gentleman picks up his helmet with his left hand and questions as he does a double-take, "You guys can move as well?!"
One of the pilots urgently retorts via the microphone. "Yes! We couldn't at first, but randomly, those gems that were owning the Taurians' Standards each combined with a jet and basically got them back on!"
The Lt. Colonel portrays a pensive attitude amidst applying his attention downward, thinking. "That guy with the sword must be the source. He clearly helped with mine after I utilized the Speed Demon. Who is he?"
*Scene Change*
Callahan scans his surroundings as the majority of the scenery matches the world that Exca made for Doyenne within itself, although he wouldn't know that since he wasn't present for that part. The difference between the two locations is that the white-haired character's positioned atop a grassy patch of land, wielding a single tree with a substantially think trunk and a wooden chair in front of it. This is the sole spot for anyone to stand on while Callahan navigates his focus behind himself and the two nearby objects so he can view the sun that's currently in the process of setting.
Temporarily contemplating his next course of action, Callahan forges the Model 29 inside his left hand, compliments of him carrying the Desert Eagle within his opposite appendage, prior to shooting at the terrain. With that, the indigo-eyed criminal slips into the portal that was promptly etched, however, the other side of it leads him back to the landscape via the opening appearing above the chair, resulting in him sitting upon it. Soon after, the lad glimpses at the area with confusion brimming until demonstrating mild exasperation. "I don't appreciate being restrained."
Suta's voice unexpectedly reverberates from every direction, compelling Callahan to detain his search to the part ahead of him with suspicion established, while amusement can be noted by the star's speech. "Nobody would. Though I'll admit that your distaste for it is leagues above many. So much that I'm willing to apologize to you."
Callahan scoffs. "Save it. Just show yourself and let's resume our fight."
Suta laughs before tauntingly commenting, "I'm not sure if you deserve that. I requested that you wait, but you barely reached a minute prior to that attempt of yours."
Callahan detaches himself from the chair and replaces his behavior with a bit of intensity. "Be serious here. You can't honestly believe I was gonna' do that."
Suta wholeheartedly rebuttals. "Exceptions are possible. Still, I mostly comprehended that you wouldn't. It goes against your nature."
Callahan sternly states after advancing onward via a couple of steps, "Enough talk in that case! I want to see my-"
Suta finishes Callahan's sentence, the echoing of his tone vanishing due to the teal-eyed individual exhibiting himself sitting in the chair now with Omega no longer visible as he's casually bent forth. "Wish be realized."
Callahan swiftly switches his angling in a counterclockwise motion to completely confront Suta, aiming the Desert Eagle accordingly with his left hand supporting the limb.
Precisely when Callahan was on the verge of firing, Suta covers the tool's muzzle via a Delta while ultimately causing the gun's barrel and the gem to explode.
Callahan withstands the blast and hastily swipes his right hand sideways, making countless pieces of guns expel from his constitution.
Suta instantly crafts several more Deltas as they soar towards Callahan's anterior with impressive agility.
Callahan's struck by the objects, although that doesn't deter his preparation while staggering rearward a tad. Following that, four Turrets are formed in the middle of the coated male and Suta as they start a rapid fire towards the aqua-haired gentleman.
Even though the shots wouldn't accomplish anything, Suta chooses to evade them through quickly planting his feet onto the front edge of the chair as he grasps the opposing sections of its backrest and hops into the air. During his ascent, the fellow travels toward Callahan, having flown above the Turrets, while aura emits from his being.
Despite not knowing what Suta has planned, Callahan simply fixes the Desert Eagle via utilizing parts of the Model 29 that he took a second to disassemble amidst the Turret's onslaught and then launches another silver sphere as Suta was about to totally deplete the gap dividing them.
Suta manages to dodge though thanks to Iota abruptly taking shape below him as he hurriedly journeys towards the right.
Callahan strives to retain his vision on Suta's trajectory while dealing with the recent recoil of his arms, but grows very sluggish as he mentally complains. "Man, I've used this too many times! The backlash is screwing with my tech's maneuvering! Why can't a powerful weapon not contain such a costly side effect?!"
Suta eventually steers himself to return to Callahan's placement and rams the nose of Iota onto the posterior of his foe's skull. Afterwards, the Caucasian's board is bombarded by the Turrets because of their rotary ability as that garners Suta's concentration while inadvertently going towards the weapons. With that, Suta commandeers the team of Deltas that previously hit Callahan to impale themselves upon the top regions of the Turrets, immediately neutralizing the tools.
Callahan depicts that, significantly slumped forward from Iota striking his head, as he's presently at a decent range from Suta and commences dismantling the Desert Eagle with both hands stationed towards his waist again. Soon enough, the young man creates his Precision Sniper Rifle, straightens his stance and aims the tool at Suta with both hands carrying the it before attempting to pay the adversary back for slamming Iota onto him.
Suta's promptly looks at Callahan via navigating his head towards the right, exactly when the bullet landed. Sadly for Callahan, the shot simply passes through the star without even inciting a minor reaction as a new batch of Deltas are summoned, swiftly targeting the gun-wielder's front like their predecessors.
Callahan somewhat retreats while intercepting each of the oncoming gems as he steadily relaxes himself, thinking, "Of course this is tougher than combating Exca. Suta isn't swayed by needless emotions. I can kinda' compare him to Whatley in that sense. That's bad, however." The Irish grins and keeps on with his thought process. "It's actually the best thing about this though."
Suta suddenly alters the direction that Iota's traversing to go towards Callahan.
Callahan keys upon Suta's advance prior to feeling his right foot sinking into the mass of water behind him, compelling him to glance at it with vague urgency. Then, the white-haired guy resets his focus to Suta while rapidly swapping his rifle for a Benelli Black Eagle Shotgun and points it with solely his left hand, standing sideways to do so.
Suta narrows his eyes out of determination, recognizing the weapon, and has Delta perform a spiral-like evasion once the shotgun is fired. This leads to a big eruption transpiring around the spot that the poncho-endowed individual was headed. A moment later, while completing the spin he invoked, Suta's board sustains a shot deployed by a second Black Eagle that Callahan sneakily forged in his right hand as he has it horizontally poised before his stomach.
The eruption that follows haphazardly removes Suta from Iota as Callahan witnesses the teal-eyed character getting hurled towards him, adjusting the Black Eagle to lock onto Suta again since his left arm was hoisted skyward from the shotgun's first attack. Meanwhile, the criminal aims the other weapon at Suta, extending it towards his left further to possess both guns fairly parallel. After doing that, Callahan implements a pair of explosive rounds on Suta's upper body due to it being the closest from how the opponent's now positioned.
Suta witnesses the bullets crash into his shoulders with a larger blast occurring because of their combined, destructive strength.
Callahan doesn't allow himself to be deceived by the seeming success of the two shots hitting their mark, readying another pair of rounds.
Concurrently, Suta emerges from the smoke that the explosion crafted, angled upright, while remaining airborne as Omega has returned within his right hand and drives one of the edges of its blade against Callahan's face.
The northern end of Callahan's constitution instantly snaps towards the right from the impact during the indigo-eyed gentleman's firing of both shotguns once more, assaulting Suta's torso.
Suta pays no mind to the ammo embedding into him and adds his left hand to Omega's grip as he swings the weapon diagonally so it would collide with Callahan's slanted figure.
Callahan hastily pushes himself away from the strike through leaping rearward, locating the lad over the mass of water's surface. At the same time, the fellow assembles a Microgun, directing it southward, and utilizes it to propel his person skyward to avoid falling into the liquid.
Suta peers at Callahan, briefly ceasing his pursuit, as he smirks with his right appendage lowered and cheerfully shouts, "If you have an issue with being wet, just ask and I'd grant you a better battleground."
Upon the conclusion of that sentence, the patch of land unpredictably begins stretching its perimeter while also expanding upward.
Callahan's quite baffled and persists his ascension, considering that Suta's hurriedly traveling towards him through this method as he thinks, "He's able to modify this place any way he wants?!" He eventually decides to channel his Microgun's effort towards Suta, although quickly understands that there is no use thanks to Suta's composition. Right after that, Callahan switches weapons again to bring out the Model 29 while creating a portal below him, still thinking throughout. "Perhaps I can at least make some space to analyze the situation with less pressure." The male swiftly descends into the opening.
Suta calmly watches Callahan's disappearance, but isn't fazed whatsoever as he promptly commandeers himself around with Omega's blade splitting. Amidst that action, the Caucasian swings the hybrid sword horizontally to send a thin blast towards the lone tree.
Prior to that, the tree randomly disperses into the aqua essence Suta owns, revealing Callahan behind it while confronting the teal-colored attack as he's temporarily stunned and thinks, "Wait, what?!" The individual then barely defends himself with the Model 29 continuing to be in his grasp, compliments of the setting that entrapped Exca. Following that, Callahan gawks at Suta as he drops his hands since he raised them onward for his protection.
Suta chuckles and mounts Omega atop his right shoulder as he detached his left limb from the tool. "Surprise!"
Callahan becomes serious as he dismantles the Model 29 to soon forge his Knight MK-85.
While Callahan does that, Suta nonchalantly utters as he accumulates his aura to Omega, "Go ahead and express all questions you have. I'll answer honestly. It'd give you the chance to plot a strategy."
Callahan firmly shakes his head. "I'm good. You're charity is unwelcome. Plus, it's not really important for me to comprehend the significance of this area to you. The only detail I required was that it's under your rule. I should've discerned that from the start. Why else would I be here?"
Suta frowns. "You're wrong. I brought you to Beta 'cause I didn't desire a single possibility of somebody involving themselves in this. That's the sole purpose."
Callahan glares at Suta in a criticizing manner, thinking, "He named it like the other stuff he uses..." The Irish slowly brushes off the concern building inside him as he points the MK-85 forth while solemnly remarking, "Though I'm not obligated to believe you, it's nice that we're sorta' on the same page. I won't have to trouble myself with interruptions."
Suta nods until shifting his gaze towards Callahan's left and smiles.
Callahan's curiosity gets the better of him as he checks the reason for Suta's demeanor, resulting in his head haphazardly receiving a blow from Iota. This forces the young man to tilt eastward, dazed a little, before displaying rage via gritting his teeth and immediately restores his posture while delivering a silver beam towards Suta.
Suta easily cuts through the beam with Omega swung at an upper, diagonal angle. A second later, the shaggy-haired guy sprints towards Callahan as numerous Deltas gather beside his left prior to gesturing his western appendage ahead so they would soar that way with impeccable velocity.
Callahan hurriedly disposes of a few of the Deltas via a well placed laser piercing them, however, wasn't able to destroy the majority. Due to that, the criminal's pelleted by the gems, trying everything he can to keep his footing, and administers another beam towards Suta.
The attempt fails to effect Suta, similar to the rest, while the star implements an upward slash onto Callahan's midsection.
With Omega striking him, Callahan's hurled backwards to a substantial distance until nearly arriving at the ledge of the protruding terrain and prevents his departure from its vicinity by shooting the grassy landscape via aiming the MK-85 next to his left. This instantly launches the coat-wearing character forward a bit, letting his feet come into contact with the ground shortly after, while noting a group of Deltas rapidly journeying towards him from above in succession. Not wasting a moment in responding, Callahan sidesteps each gem during their downpour as he releases several beams at Suta.
Suta hastily resumes his chase of Callahan with Iota tagging along, containing the divided tips of Omega brushing against the grass as he's preparing his next assault.
Callahan suddenly lunges towards Suta while changing the MK-85's target to the descending Deltas so he can guarantee that none of them capitalize on him mainly focusing upon the aqua-haired enemy. Not much after narrowing the gap, as Suta commenced swinging his right appendage, the gunner swiftly thrusts his left hand towards the Caucasian's face with a K-Ton Hidden Flamethrower revealed and generates an onslaught of fire in the blink of an eye.
Despite his head becoming engulfed by flames, Suta persists his arm's mobility and connects with Callahan's left.
Callahan refuses to budge an inch from the mighty impact as he navigates the MK-85 to Suta's chest so he can instill one more shot.
Right when that's done, Suta twists Omega within his grip to clamp its separated blades onto Callahan's torso via a subtle thrust, ensuring that the weapon encompasses it, while radiating a grand sum of his aura.
In conclusion, Callahan's outfit begins deteriorating and provokes urgency from the white-haired fellow as he stops the flow of fire his left hand's expelling. Then, the young man strives to escape from Omega, although can't thanks to the strong pressure the tool is applying.
Suta soon decides to draw Callahan towards his left once he gained a good view of the adversary, adding his left limb to Omega's handle, as he lifts Callahan off the Terrain. Immediately following, the poncho-endowed guy elevates his arms further so Callahan's horizontally situated over him for a minuscule period and ultimately swings Omega downward.
An instance later, Callahan is rammed against the ground with a giant blast fluctuating from Omega simultaneously delivering a higher burst of aura amidst that collision.
Suta, wielding a contorted posture, blankly observes the spot Callahan was planted while multiple Deltas materialize around him until locating themselves ahead of the individual. This is for the teal-eyed entity to elude interaction with the barrel of a Simonov Anti-Tank Rifle as it releases a shell. Though the projectile is mostly blotted, the rifle at least achieves the feat of shoving Suta rearward significantly and finds out during his recession that Callahan's no longer bound by Omega.
Callahan quickly stands up, having been demonstrated through the teal-colored radiance's disappearance, and disassembles his recent weapon as he thinks with a hint of scrutiny, "Why'd he shield himself there? Could it be that he has some kinda' limit to that intangibility?" The male eventually forms a pair of Glocks while sternly whispering, "Nonetheless, I gotta' keep moving." Callahan abruptly does a dodge roll towards his right, causing Iota to miss his posterior since it was attempting to assault him again, and then furiously yells after finishing his rotation while on his right knee, "That's the dang reason!" He promptly alters his positioning away from Suta's direction and dashes towards the landscape's edge before jumping off.
Suta chuckles with merely his right hand holding Omega, both appendages hanging at their respective sectors, as Iota flies towards him prior to the star hopping onto it and hurriedly pursues Callahan.
