Episode 17: Protecting Each Other
*Starting Scene*
Suta flies throughout space via Iota as he cuts numerous Colums in half while obliterating them to guarantee the decrease of his opponents.
The Colums helplessly float about during their steady destruction while exclaiming towards Suta each time he draws near to dispose of some.
Suta soon comments with his vision locked on the Colums, currently performing multiple spins to slash through those around him, "I'm taking my time with you since I'm not really in a hurry! You all would've been toast otherwise!" He suddenly reaches one of the barbaric extraterrestrials amidst ramming the bottom side of Iota upon its face, causing the Colum to soar backwards from the objects might. After doing that, Suta straightens his angling with Omega hoisted over his head and implements an aura blast. This not only annihilates the Colum he recently struck, but the majority of the offspring as that leaves a handful remaining.
Despite that, the surviving Colums struggle to move so they could advance towards Suta, appearing quite comically because of how they are flailing their limbs.
Suta chuckles and hangs his arms to their respective sectors, carrying Omega in his right. "You guys are funny. Simpleminded beings entertain me so." The lad displays a slightly sad grin, relaxing his tone in the process. "It's unfortunate that I won't learn the method Colin used in arriving to Ganseihiro, or even Kusari. I killed him too fast." Suta closes his eyes while faintly laughing.
The Colums continue making noise until noting Suta casually position his right arm sideways as they smile without an ounce of fear.
Suta promptly issues a horizontal swing to conclude the one-sided battle with a tremendous expansion of aura illuminating the darkness of space. With the Colums gone, the shaggy-haired gentleman has Omega vanish into his constitution as he analyzes his surroundings, registering the stars and gases getting stripped away by tidal forces, as a lackadaisical conduct is demonstrated. "Seems I'm in the Comet Galaxy. Worse place for me to have popped up." Suta deviates his attention forth and summons a wormhole there. "Time to go galaxy jumping. Eventually, I'll rejoin Virgil, Anemone and Victress. They're in safe hands though, so everything's good."
Abruptly, the sound of engines enter Suta's ears, originating from the wormhole he crafted, while invoking curiosity out of the poncho-endowed character as he cocks his head towards the left.
*Scene Change*
The Syndicate's cruiser persists its efforts in contending with the invisible foe, although there isn't much they can accomplish thanks to how determined the enigma is. While that transpires, the blue ship's passengers depict that they are nearing an extremely dangerous point since all the enemy needs to do is land a dozen more strikes to puncture a hole into the Bridge.
Harper witnesses that and is enveloped by tension as he blurts out, "Go for another nosedive! We'll scare him off us!"
The crew gawk at Harper with disbelief, however, are compelled to follow his instructions once Sebastian sternly utters as Kairi goes back towards his right so he can view his comrades, "Don't ya' dare hesitate! Vecchio uomo wouldn't!"
That order immediately hits a cord within every Syndicate personnel working inside the Bridge before hastily having the huge craft steer downward.
The foe's briefly deterred, gazing towards the landscape beneath it due to the quick maneuvering, while halfheartedly remarking, "You're joking!" The anomaly resets its concentration to the cruiser with confidence surging. "I'm not going to fall for such an obvious bluff! Unless you're willing to stain your hands with the blood of the folks below!"
Sebastian emanates agitation, thinking, "That wouldn't be a problem for us. The Syndicate's lifestyle commonly screws people over." The neon-eyed guy does a double-take between Harper and Kairi with his thoughts continuing. "If we were planning to go the suicidal route, not even these two could stop us." Sebastian mounts his attention onward again while tenaciously smirking as he thinks, "But we ain't willing to die yet!"
Right when Sebastian was on the verge of delivering a command to his companions, Virgil's voice reverberates from the channel that allotted the Syndicate, Harper and Kairi to hear the adversary with seriousness detected. "Pull back!"
Kairi's eyes widen with urgency resonating as she instills her focus to the image that possesses Virago's passengers, having automatically shifted to the left so the Syndicate personnel are capable of seeing outside if necessary. Afterwards, the adult realizes that Virgil and Anemone are no longer with Doyenne's group while alarm engulfs her.
Then, the Syndicate's cruiser notifies everybody within it that there is an oncoming vehicle. This initially leads to the members in attempting to investigate what's the source exactly, but are detained by Sebastian firmly stating after the ship receives a couple of more blows from the invisible entity, "Do it!"
The suited fellows swiftly react, aware of the danger that is still present, and have the immense craft reduce its speed greatly. As a result, the vessel and the opponent are separated long enough for the threat to withstand several shots from the left, compliments of Jet 4's blasters while the machine rapidly journeys towards it.
Despite that, all the sudden assault does is push the invisible being aside while expressing with a hint of surprise, "I recognize that model! " The voice menacingly chuckles amidst ceasing its inadvertent mobility, although continues to be pelleted by the jet's ammunition. "You can find me through the radar, so I might as well quit the bull!"
Virgil narrows his eyes, watching the radar that indeed is permitting him to discern the unknown individual's location, as he talks to himself in a solemn manner. "He's familiar with it? But this model has been relegated to mostly training purposes for a considerable time."
Anemone, persisting the firing of the blasters to let Virgil concentrate mainly on piloting, doesn't pay much mind to her best friend's words and radiates determination with her own vision set upon where the enigma's poised.
During that, the ferret had tagged along by staying atop Anemone's shoulder, observing the area that invisible giant resides.
Following a temporary pause, the enemy's cloaking gradually comments to deactivate while revealing a white mechanical humanoid with its bulky figure wielding light blue orbs embedded at the joints and four situated at the entity's face, forming a circle thanks to their respective placement. In addition, it's notable that the robot's legs are comprised of large thrusters, granting its ability to fly as the foe has a big, oval-like head.
Virgil witnesses the giant as astonishment plagues him and reduces his speech's volume. "It's a Mech..."
Meanwhile, Harper and Kairi glimpse at each other with a stunned demeanor.
Keying onto the siblings' behavior, Sebastian curiously inquires, "Why do ya' two look like ya' seen a ghost?"
Harper's attitude hurriedly grows cold while answering Sebastian with his sight administered to the image of the white machine. "That's the Harbinger. It's the Mech Earth 03's government, specifically the Global Defender Academy's Board of Directors, were developing until it was stolen by..."
The Harbinger's controller quickly states after making the mechanical humanoid ascend to elude Jet 4's barrage since Anemone still hasn't discovered that the robot is now visible from her retaining her attention solely on the radar, "I might as well introduce myself! It's possible you don't know who I am if you're fairly new to the military! I'm Valon Maximus!"
Listening to Valon's declaration via the microphone, Virgil can't help showing terror as he shouts, "A True Villain! The 5th Most Wanted criminal in the universe!"
Valon arrogantly scoffs, currently depicted in a throne-styled seat that possesses a joystick at both sides and is wearing the black, hooded attire his mugshot contains. "Man, I called myself that jokingly when I jacked this bad boy and it led to me permanently having that as my moniker!" The pink irises of his eyes glimmer ominously, his black bobbed hair coming short at the front to not interfere with his view while the rest extends below his jawline. "Not really complaining though! It's simply hilarious to me that all it took was for me to do that and kill thousands connected to Earth 03!"
With that, the Harbinger promptly travels towards Jet 4, displaying a grand sum of speed.
Anemone swiftly counters the Mech's progression via altering the ammunition's trajectory accordingly, however, nothing is achieved from it.
Because of that, Virgil commandeers Jet 4 westward at the last instance while managing to evade the Harbinger as stress brims from him.
Simultaneously, Anemone finally becomes aware of the Harbinger's structuring due to unconsciously glancing towards it prior to exhibiting bewilderment. "Whoa! We're fighting-"
Virgil prevents Anemone from finishing her sentence as he turns Jet 4 to go higher. "Yeah and it's piloted by Valon! We gotta' be careful!"
Anemone demonstrates confusion and leans towards Virgil's right. "Who?!"
Virgil momentarily rolls his eyes with a disgruntled personality portrayed before resuming his focus on where he's traversing. "A True Villain! You're the one who told me about him!"
Anemone immediately recalls that detail, her eyes widening in the process while tilting her head rearward. "Ah!" She smiles at Virgil out of embarrassment and gingerly knocks on the eastern sector of her skull with her right hand while shutting her eyes. "I forgot!"
Virgil shakes his head from disapproval until diverting his gaze to the radar as he notes that the Harbinger is positioned above Jet 4, and without wasting time in looking at it, forces his craft towards the right. This allows the crimson machine to avoid Valon's second attempt of reaching it while the glasses-endowed lad grits his teeth and thinks, "If it can cause a dent on a ship of the size mom and Uncle Tate are in, it'll rip right through us with a single collision!"
Valon peers at Jet 4 during the Harbinger's decent from Virgil's perspective with a demented grin established. "Nice dodge! I wonder how much you'll last if I double the velocity!" The Mech then gives chase to the winged vehicle, aiming for the jet's tail.
Anemone hastily restarts her firing of the blasters via Jet 4 slanting towards the left, her back against the seat once more, and passionately yells.
Concurrently, Virgil sustains his concentration upon the Harbinger while muttering with concern, "Shoot...! He wants to clip us...!" The redhead switches his vision to the path he's taking and escalates further into the air, improving Jet 4's agility throughout.
Valon's unfazed his adversary's effort to outrun him as none of the projectiles Anemone's implementing are producing any damage to the Harbinger whatsoever. "I'm gaining on you! Come on! Resist 'til the end!"
Virgil mildly reverts his sight to the left so he could glare at the Harbinger and furiously remarks after ensuring that his microphone would convey it, "Quit treating this like it's a game!"
Valon laughs a little. "But life is precisely that! I want it not to be dull and that's why stuff has gotten to this extent!"
Virgil's displeased by Valon's declaration while unexpectedly decreasing Jet 4's movement, profoundly terrifying Anemone.
Valon radiates excitement without ceasing the Harbinger's advancement prior to keying on Virago, which is rapidly flying towards him.
Virgil quickly reacts to Virago's maneuvering through having Jet 4 accelerate forward.
Doyenne soon shouts in a firm tone, courageously staring at the Harbinger's image, "Brace yourselves!"
The Victress members sharply nod before Virago's clash with the Harbinger, resulting in the humanoid machine to be sent eastward from Virgil and Anemone's viewpoint.
Valon chuckles as he strives to not lose his bearings. "You all do some really redundant things! Who's supposed to be the ones to escape and who'll fight me?! Or have you people decided to work together?!" The male abruptly experiences another strike applied to the Harbinger, although upon its anterior this time, and eventually discern the blue cruiser being the culprit while both journey towards the landscape. After a small period, Valon exhibits a scrutinizing conduct while bent onward. "Again with this bluff?! We know you folks don't possess the balls to go through with it!"
The Syndicate's vessel swiftly deviates its trajectory to soar a considerable range from the terrain, making Valon smirk proudly until witnessing the immense craft slow down sufficiently to ascend once more.
That concludes with Valon portraying an awestruck behavior the moment that the Harbinger's rear smacked into a building and forces the tall structure to haphazardly split apart.
While that transgresses, the Syndicate's ship steers itself to return to Virago and Jet 4's general vicinity as Harper urgently orders, "We must go now! The Harbinger is forged from a nearly indestructible alloy! Valon will resume his pursuit in a bit!"
Doyenne, gripping onto Lita's post to elude injury from the previous impact, briefly contemplates over the information Harper divulged prior to navigating her attention towards her allies. "You heard him! Put everything we have to be bail out of this place!"
Virgil promptly sees Virago change its angling to travel skyward as he prepares to do the same. Before doing that though, the Caucasian gazes to the cluster of smoke that has formed from the recent crumbling of the building while demonstrating a pensive expression.
Anemone depicts Virgil's attitude, no longer shooting the blasters, and is about to speak until her friend commenced Jet 4's fast trip towards space.
Not much after, the Harbinger frees itself from the enormous heap of rubble that collected on it while Valon administers his concentration towards the three crafts trying to leave, a sinister smile etched onto him.
Oblivious to that, Anemone shows surprise as Jet 4 has almost exited the planet's orbit. "V! Are you okay?!"
Virgil looks at Anemone by slanting towards the left a tad, intrigue encompassing him. "Yeah, why?!"
Anemone answers with no difference to her personality. "You're anxiety isn't kicking in!"
Realization hurriedly overcomes Virgil and draws his sight to the himself as he whispers, "She's right... I'm totally chill..."
Harper's voice is suddenly expelled from Virgil's microphone, stress being notable. "Incoming, Virgil!"
Virgil isn't able to respond in time while observing Jet 4's left wing getting severed from the Harbinger ramming upon it.
Anemone's eyes widen, a distraught demeanor presented, as she desperately exclaims, "We're in major trouble!"
The reason for that outburst is immediately revealed by Jet 4 hastily sinking towards the planet, compliments of the craft's susceptibility to its gravitational pull.
Harper and Kairi emit horror from watching what occurred while the latter yells, "Virgil!"
Sebastian instinctively acts upon Kairi's cry as he glimpses at the Syndicate associates with seriousness brimming. "Go after it and open the hull for it to enter! Secure that nobody's in there when doing so!"
In the meantime, Eve sets her vision towards Doyenne, poised towards the Bridge's right section for support, and coldly comments, "We're letting 'em handle it, right?! We can't continue turn back around! Our resources-"
Doyenne harshly cuts Eve off while intensely glaring. "Shut it!"
Eve hangs her head with depression enveloping her as she releases a big sigh.
During that, the rest of Victress are aware of the course Doyenne wants them to take and rapidly begin adjusting Virago accordingly.
Valon barely pays mind to the two ships' effort in aiding Jet 4 while quickly bringing the Harbinger towards the Tomcat-styled vehicle. "No more running away! Be a man and fight me!"
Anemone grits her teeth, anger resonating greatly, before complying with Valon's request as the blasters locked on the Harbinger amidst shouting, "I may not be a dude, but insinuating that we're cowards is a huge mistake!" She then sends a barrage of shots towards the Harbinger, however, that solely causes Jet 4 to spin wildly thanks to the absence of a wing.
Virgil gets frustrated and directs his focus back to Anemone via veering his head left. "Stop, Anemone! You're making it hard for me to keep the jet stable!"
Anemone retorts while striving to maintain her gaze towards the Harbinger. "What would you prefer?! Twisting out of control or simply allow A True Villain to kill us?!"
Virgil doesn't hesitate to rebuttal as he narrows his eyes. "Neither!" The fellow's randomly startled due to the ferret unpredictably popping up in the gap that permits Virgil to view Anemone, utilizing its four paws so it wouldn't fall off.
Anemone's dumbfounded by the ferret's appearance prior to leaning towards it with worry mixed in. "Cutie! What are you doing?!"
The ferret neglects Anemone's display of concern while leaping to Virgil's lap, aiming to come into contact with the controls.
Virgil's significantly confused, although is compelled to switching his concentration because of him registering the Harbinger's proximity to Jet 4. Unfortunately, the blue-eyed gentleman can solely manage to minimize the damage instantly produced from the Harbinger striking the jet's right wing since its current state didn't allot much to be achieve besides that. Afterwards, Virgil struggles to prevent his craft from spiraling a lot, especially now that the ferret is roaming along his controls.
In the Asian's case, Anemone suffers some whiplash from the recent attack and Jet 4's haphazard maneuvering as this leads to her becoming dazed.
The Harbinger promptly goes back to Jet 4, targeting its tail again, as Valon utters with an eager behavior emanating, "Here's a slow death for you!" He rips the lower region off as fast as he did with the machine's left wing and nothing else, considering that Jet 4 was inadvertently situated sideways at the moment.
Virgil gawks at the Harbinger flying away through having his head angled eastward thanks to the fact that Jet 4 was assaulted from its left while thinking in despair, "It's over..." The young man gradually shifts his vision to the Syndicate's cruiser as it's still quite far from reaching the Tomcat-styled vehicle. "Mom... Uncle Tate..." Virgil abruptly witnesses the Harbinger hurriedly advance towards him one more time and shuts his eyes as he mumbles, "I wish I could've been honest with you two... You told me that it'd be fine if I didn't pilot, but I knew deep down you were only saying that so I'd relax... You'll deny it, even though it's the plain truth... You can't trick me..."
Kairi's voice softly echos from Virgil's microphone, sadness being apparent. "I'm sorry, Virgil."
Virgil's eyes snap open with bewilderment portrayed and mounts his sight to the microphone as he slightly modifies his tone to communicate normally. "You were listening to me?" He drops his head before mildly sighing. "That's a dumb question. Of course you did. It slipped my mind that I had the mic. I'm seriously not cut out to be a pilot if I forget those sort of details."
Kairi's on the verge of disputing Virgil's statement until keying onto the Harbinger as contact between the two machines is about to transpire and then cries in dismay, "Virgil!"
Virgil swiftly gazes forth, anticipating why his mother yelled out his name, while tensing up for the pending collision with the Harbinger.
The ferret suddenly expels a bright aqua-colored light that engulfs Jet 4's cockpit in its entirety, blinding Virgil and Anemone as both are baffled.
At the same time, the Harbinger's constitution slams against Jet 4, however, fails to tear through it like earlier as the radiance that fills its interior seeps out. Following that, Valon tilts his head towards the right a little while the white robot recedes as if the bright light is pushing it in that direction while vaguely asking with a curious smirk established, "What's this?"
Virgil feverishly attempts to regain visibility of the ferret, bending towards his controls, while sternly remarking, "You're a part of Suta's aura! That's why you were in Virago! He made you on the chance he needed you to watch us in his stead!" The spiky-haired male happily grins, despite shaking his head a tad. "That guy...!"
*Scene Change*
The fleet of Syndicate ships Whatley once contact are presently traversing through Bode's Galaxy where the planet Morte resides, the crew members hastily contending with countless bits of information plastered on their individual monitors. This is done with Whatley having joined his subordinates and is stationed inside the main craft that wields a size compatible to the Taurians' Terminator while cladded by its vast assortment of artillery.
Whatley, marching within the massive vessel's Bridge to inspect the Syndicate personnel's progress, solemnly declares, "All of ya' better not be slacking! We're the largest mafia family and I'm the 6th Most Wanted in the universe! Our reputation matters a lot to me!" The Italian halts his mobility at the core of the room, poised sideways from the view of space at the vicinity's front area. "That doubles when accounting that I'm paying off a debt!"
The group of suited characters nod with tenacity, symbolizing that they are doing their best to accomplish their job. Not long after, a Vulpes that's sitting ahead of Whatley due to the adult's position firmly speaks to him. "Vecchio uomo! We're receiving Intel from the others on their search! Nothing yet, but they're at least spread into 10 galaxies!"
Whatley coldly replies. "It oughta' be 20! They understand how important it is to perform these scans quickly!"
The Vulpes accepts Whatley's words and resets its focus to its monitor.
A male human randomly begins conversing with Whatley, seated behind the fellow, as he shows a polite conduct. "Where's Crest anyway? He entered the ship with ya', correct?"
Whatley casually steers himself to observe the Bridge's northern section while folding his arms together. "Yeah. Since he's a loner now, I can't force him to be around me. I bet he's chilling with Simone."
The Syndicate member exhibits confusion. "Doesn't that contradict...?"
Whatley gingerly laughs. "Folks who are by themselves can also care for people. It's what separates us from machines."
Callahan's voice unprecedentedly resounds from the background in a bland manner. "I'm basically that though."
The crew immediately drive their attention to Callahan and are substantially astonished as Whatley smiles out of amusement without diverting his sight at all. "That's what ya' trying to convince yourself into believing." The Mafioso looks at Callahan simply by faintly commandeering his head towards the left. "How's Simone? Is he still knocked out?"
Callahan refrains from answering, examining the vastness of space surrounding the Syndicate's fleet for a minuscule period, prior to nonchalantly talking. "We oughta' go somewhere else. The Lacertas have a habit of terrorizing planets of this galaxy, excluding the ones you got under your thumb."
Whatley lifts his left eyebrow with intrigue demonstrated. "Are ya' afraid of them?"
Callahan retorts as he persists his eyes' wandering with his hands inserted into his pockets. "You know I'm not. Destroying the Lacertas or the Taurians isn't much of a hassle. I proved it in the Infernal Pit. I merely desire to focus on the task at hand first."
Whatley confronts Callahan. "Does that mean they're second on your list?"
Callahan dully gazes at Whatley. "Perhaps."
Whatley chuckles while thinking, "At least you didn't waste time completely lying. I can tell that something extraordinary is lingering in ya' head. I've never seen ya' so hung up over an opponent." He closes his eyes as he leisurely comments, "Whatever ya' going for, it clearly hasn't gotten in the way of ya' primary goal, Crest." Whatley reverts his concentration to Callahan. "Ya' finally putting everything into motion so ya' have it."
Callahan grows silent again until implementing a step rearward to face towards the left part of the Bridge and journeys to a vacated seat. After sitting there, the coat-wearing gentleman places his legs upon the counter the chair pertains to, getting comfortable with his hands planted atop his cranium while awaiting for any positive update involving the search.
Meanwhile, Whatley sternly instructs his subordinates once he brought his person to aim forward again, "We're gonna' heed Crest's advice! Let's look for a wormhole to get outta' here faster!"
A Syndicate associate that's stationed towards the bottom left of the control room inquires upon applying his vision to Whatley, "Which should we take, vecchio uomo?!" The fellow navigates his attention to his post. "There's a dozen to pick from that we got a clue where they lead!"
Whatley scoffs as he settles down his method of speaking. "That's the dangerous thing about using them. Sadly, if we wanna' succeed with this job, we'll need to dive into the riskiest shit we've ever gunned for." The fedora-endowed adult glances at Callahan, seeing that the lad is intently staring his way, and nods before readying himself to issue a declaration.
Callahan haphazardly intervenes with no difference to his demeanor. "By the way, old man."
Whatley accidentally bites his tongue from detaining his effort, instantly emitting pain while hoisting his hands ahead of his mouth with his posture temporarily slumped onward. Not much later, the blue-eyed guy straightens his constitution to view Callahan yet again as he lowers both hands to their respective sectors and asks in a muffled way, "What?"
Callahan peers skyward. "It just came to mind that there exists an important requirement in discovering his whereabouts. I'm uncertain if the info I was given is reliable. After all, you and I are both aware how difficult it is to have some direction in terms of finding him. Better gather up every single detail and follow through with them to be safe, right?"
Suspicion consumes Whatley amidst confronting Callahan one more time. "Yeah, but it depends on what we need to get. I'm guessing you have a reason for waiting 'til this moment to mention it."
Callahan locks eyes with Whatley. "It's 'cause you aren't popular with them. You barely have any left in your family."
Whatley's personality hurriedly switches to display shock and fervently exclaims, "No way! Why the hell would he want one?!"
Callahan shrugs. "Seems even he wishes for that kind of interaction. I'll check with him about that."
Simultaneously, the crew witnesses the recent conversation transgressing as they're significantly stumped thanks to not comprehending exactly what their leader and Callahan are discussing.
Whatley soon utters in a solemn tone, "Definitely. It'll make me rephrase my earlier statement."
Callahan emanates a slightly scrutinizing attitude. "You said that concerning machines. I think he falls into a technicality outside of that."
Whatley smirks. "Hopefully, we'll figure that out too. So... How do we ensure that we get the right one for him?"
Callahan removes his legs from the counter to rise to his feet while detaching his hands from his head and swiftly assembles the Model 29. "I got that covered. I met somebody who fits the bill."
Whatley cocks his head eastward, confusion surfacing. "Someone you didn't kill?"
Callahan doesn't respond and points the gun downward via his right hand to promptly forge a portal on the floor, sinking into it equally as fast as the opening had appeared.
Upon watching the portal shut, Whatley begins laughing hysterically while fixing his head's angling and administers his left hand to blot his eyes as he thinks, "That's how it's gonna' be then, eh?"
