Chapter 6

That night i was on the phone with Conner coming up with a potential problem. "I've got it." I said. "Okay what's that?" He asked. "Well we agreed with our fight yesterday that maybe we work to much. The youngest is in day care. Maybe she gets sick and were both working. Since you're the doctor i take off." I said. "Right i like that. Do ya think it needs more?" He asked. "Sure, what you got?" I asked. "Maybe we have a pipe burst. I tell you how to turn the water off. And then i have to take off as well. I come in to fix the pipe and see you and little Meredith on the couch cuddling watching cartoons. You smile at me and wave. I come over to kiss you. I get the pipe fixed and you have the next two days off so you can stay home with her while she gets better. Then on my days off i can." He said. But my mind was still thinking about the story. I could see Conner changing the pipe, he might've been shirtless. Meredith fell asleep and i put her to bed. I was making dinner. He came up behind me and wrapped me in a hug now that he was clean and showered. "You smell good, so how's the pipe looking?" I asked. "Nothing i can't fix. After we eat I'll take Elijah to the hardware store and we'll get the new piece of pipe we need. You go take a hot bubble bath." He said. "Awe thank you, you're so sweet." I wrapped my arms around him and gave him a kiss. "Ew mom, dad seriously gross." Said Elijah looking up from his post at the table where he was playing a video game. "Olivia?" I heard Conner calling. "Oh shoot sorry. What did you say?" He chuckled. "I just asked if you thought that was okay?" He asked. "Oh duh, yea that sounds great." I said. "Ugh Megan keeps beeping in." Conner groaned. "Do you need to go?" I asked. "Nah she'll survive." "Or she'll start texting you." I said laughing. "She already has that's why she's calling i told her i was on the phone with you." Conner said. "Ah and here i am the villain." I said. "Is that what you think?" He laughed. "No but she does, I'm always in the way." I said. "It's one week she'll survive." He said. "I hope so." I said sighing. "I wouldn't worry about her but i was thinking about your list." Conner said. Please say you're going to kiss me. Wait no, of course he's not going to say that. That stupid dream sequence in class was messing with my head. "Yea? What's that?" I asked. "Well Megan is throwing an epic afterparty after the homecoming she does it every year." Conner said. "Will there be drinking and kissing games?" I asked referring to our conversation at dinner.. "Well people sneak stuff in but Megan's parents let her have parties in the boat house as long as they promise not to drink or bring drugs. But somebody always sneaks in some alcohol." He said. "I don't know...." I said. "Come on, you can even bring Lucy." Said Conner. "Look i want to come but i don't know what I'd do if i had to kiss you and she ripped my head off. I like my head y'know?" I said. "No i get that for sure, but if i know her she'll rig it so you end up kissing Acne Andrew. " "Thanks that's inspiring." I said dryly. "Sorry, she rigs it so only she kisses me. I don't even know how!" He said. "I'm scared." I said. "Come on I'm just trying to help you with that list." He said. "I appreciate you, how about I'll think about it." I said. "Well alright, I'll take that." He said. Thursday in life 101 he pulled out his jersey. "It may be kinda of big." He said again. "No it's okay, thanks again. I appreciate it." I said taking it from him and putting it gently in my bag. "Ugh why are you giving her that to wear!? Why didn't you give me one to wear?!" Megan screeched. "Because you have to wear your cheerleading uniform." Said Conner as if it wasn't obvious. "Oh duh silly me, i can cheer. And you probably couldn't cheer your way out of a paper bag." Megan sneered. "Actually..." I stood up. "We are the pirates the mighty mighty pirates..." I did some cheer that i had learned and some fancy moves. Smile, keep arms straight. Do a cartwheel and backflip ending in the splits with hands up in a V. The class cheered and i hadn't realized i had an audience. "Woah you're better than Megan!" Said Kelsey. "Oh whatever she is not. and it's the middle of the seasons so don't get any ideas you can't join." Said Megan. "Actually I'm new. So if i wanted to try out I'm sure the coach wouldn't mind. But if the girls on the team are anything like you, no thanks." I said. "Well we're a tight little family. What can i say? We stick together." Megan said smirking at me. "You know what Conner, count me in for Saturday." I said. "What? What for? No NO! Your fake little marriage is over on Friday." Megan said getting loud. Conner put his hand on her shoulder. "It's not a big deal, calm down i just invited her to your party." Megan's eye grew wide. "You cannot just invite little annoying girls to my party Conner." She said through clenched teeth. "It's my house, no. She can't come. Sorry you can't come." She said leaning around him. I rolled my eyes. "If it's a homecoming afterparty i don't see what the big deal is. Unless you're worried about something." I said batting my lashes. "Gr, no I'm not worried about you! Come to my party then but don't expect to have a good time." She said flipping her hair over her shoulder. "Why are your parties boring?" I asked. "What!? No absolutely not. Just go away." Said Megan. I shrugged. I don't like to fight but i couldn't ignore her or I'd look like i was scared of her. Which was hardly the case. I wouldn't be pushed around. The next day i walked into school wearing Conner's Jersey. It was a little big one shoulder kept falling down so i made it a thing. I took one bra strap off and went with it. "Hey you look so cute!" Lucy said. "Thank you, i know Megan is super jealous I'm wearing this right now." I said groaning. "But i had nothing else to wear and i swear i didn't do this to irritate her." I said. "No cause she's gonna be irritated no matter what you do." Lucy said shrugging. In life 101 we wrapped up our marriages. We had learned plenty of adult things. I didn't mind this class. They were going to teach us lot's of things. Like how to cook, how to sew on a button. How to change oil and a tire. I mean all the things we'd need to know to be actual adults. I admit i was lacking in that department. And you wouldn't think i would be. Sure i had to grow up fast but as far as taking actual care of myself. I was lost. My mom did all that so i could focus on my modeling career. It was nice back then but now i had some catching up to do.
---at the game---

The football game didn't start until five. So i went home to get something to eat. I fixed my hair and put on some makeup. I even found this really cute pirate flag that looked like the logo for the team. It was black and sparkly. I put it on my cheeck and was feeling super cute. Lucy had agreed to pick me up at four thirty and she was right on time. When i got in the car her black hair was pulled back into a low ponytail. She was wearing a shirt with the pirate logo on it. If you had told me on my first day of school i would make a friend, i would laugh. I would say yea right. But I'd be lost without her.

Once we had found seats we got into the game. She had to explain the rules to me though. I didn't really get to learn the game from my dad since y'know he was never around. Come halftime my stomach was growling though. "So is there a guy that comes around with food?" I asked. "What like the circus?" She laughed. "I've never been to that either so i have no idea but yea i thought somebody just came around with food..." "No but they have a concession stand just there." She pointed. "Great, I'll bring you back a doctor pepper." I said already knowing her favorite drink. "Thanks, and by the way you've been famous to long if you think people just bring you food." She said laughing. "Yea, yea!" I said waving her off. I got in line behind a football player. I read the name. Jeffries. "Hey hey, if it isn't my husband." I called out. Conner turned around smirking. "Hey wifey. But i think technically the marriage is over." He said smiling. "Darn, it's to bad, you really were the perfect husband." I said. He bowed. "I do try." he grinned. "I ate before i came but cheering in the stands is exhausting. But Ya'll are doing great! Were up!" I said. He grinned. "Yea so how was your first football game?" He asked. "You know once Lucy explained the rules i really got into it." I said. He chuckled. "You didn't watch football with your dad?" He asked. "No not really, we might've watched a game or two but i was to little to remember..." "Right well I've got two older brothers so we played a lot of football growing up." Said Conner. "Where they also on the team?" I asked. "Yep and they played college ball too. So i told my dad about not playing college ball." I said. "Oh? How did he take it?" I asked. "Surprisingly well i agreed to look into the team at my chosen college though." "Oh that's good." He got two Powerade's and stepped to the side. "You know you'd think you'd be more prepared." I said joking with him. "I am, the team has a cooler this is for Megan SHE was unprepared but while i was here y'know." He chuckled. She's a class act. I ordered nachos and two dr peppers. I stepped to the side as well. "Oh Olivia hi um hi..." "You said that already." Conner said to the guy behind the counter. "Be nice." I said. "Sorry, i did say that didn't it?" He set the food down. "This is uh on the house...just y'know take it..." "Oh, well thank you." I said. "So do you have a date to the dance?" He asked. "No...jerry...i don't." "It's Johnny." "Right sorry of course. I don't but i have to go. Thank you for this. Really." I said. I walked back to the bleachers. "So you didn't wanna go to the dance with Johnny?" Conner asked smirking. "You are enjoying this way to much." I said shaking my head and biting my lip. I dipped my head. He nudged me. "Seriously though." "That kid had to be in ninth grade. His acne had acne..." I said laughing. "Well that guy over there is tripping over himself to come talk to you so you won't be single much longer." He said. "Ah must be nice having a girlfriend. You have a built in date." I said. He shrugged. "I used to think that." He said. "And now?" I asked. He shook his head, his shaggy hair hanging in his eyes. He pushed it back. "I don't know." He said sighing. I wanted to say if you wanted to break up with her do it. I'd be happy to go with you to the dance. But i couldn't do it. "Conner i..." I sighed shaking my head. "Yea?" He asked curious. "Never mind, i should go." I said. "I'll see you around?" He asked. "Sure thing, see ya tomorrow." I said waving. I found Lucy and handed her the drink. She took a grateful sip. We ended up winning the game at least.
