Background:

Lucas Campbell is a pilot of MZV-512-E2 Raiden 512E2, he is a former member of ZAFT before becoming a mercenary himself. When he was an orphan, his parents abandoned him, only Meer Campbell and her parents found Lucas, and they adopted him. Meer sees Lucas as her older brother, and he always protects Meer, he takes care of Meer as Meer's parents gave Lucas a happy life before Lucas joined ZAFT.

After Lucas witnesses the death of the Coordinator by the Earth Alliance, he hates Earth Alliance and wants to destroy them including the Natural. He joins Rau's team and becomes a captain, he trains Athrun and his teammates as soldiers. He pilots the Red GINN and destroys Earth Alliance's Mobile suit, he becomes the "Red Star" of ZAFT.

Lucas and his squad have a mission to steal Mobile Weapons and Virtuaroid, he arrives at Sosuke's garage, shoots Rei, and steals Raiden. Leaving Sosuke to hate ZAFT. Lucas pilots Raiden before he learns Sosuke kill Miguel which makes Lucas hate Sosuke.
